369 12th St Oakland, CA 94607 (Between Franklin and Webster) It's Monday night, around 9pm in downtown Oakland. I just got off work, and I decided to stop by at Spices Noodle House to grab some chow mein and won ton soup. Spicy BBQ Pork Chow Mein, $12.95 Won Ton Soup, $9.95 The dining room was pretty much bare. A chinese lady was busy prepping takeout and delivery orders. After giving me time to read the menu, she popped out to take my order. The $$ total came out to be just over $25. She tells me 10-mins, and goes back to the kitchen. Service gets (4/5). The Won Ton Soup was six plump dumplings, lots of veggies, in a light broth. Price: $9.95.....Grade (4/5) I liked the Spicy BBQ Pork Chow Mein. It wasn't super spicy. It had some chopped up dried red chili peppers. Thick ropey noodles with small pieces of bbq pork. Average sized portion for takeout. Price $12.95, Grade (4/5) These are the "in-person" menu prices. Apparently this place is also known as "China Taste." I only saw street parking available. 12th St is a one-way street. Overall, good food for the price.

My family and I's first time at Spices Noodle House was great! We ordered the vegetable fried rice, vegetable chow main, garlic broccoli, vegetable egg rolls, and mongolian beef over rice. For everything it was about $73 tip not included! The food was delicious! Mongolian beef (I was told ) was spicier than usual. The chow main was good and had broccoli which I've never seen. The lady who took our order was very accommodating as we asked if the mixed vegetables could be spicy and gave us about 5 tea kettles of tea... (we love tea) There was one group there when we entered, but no one came in while we were eating... It was a Monday during lunch time and we didn't see any door dashers in or other customers. Overall our experience was very great and we're planning on coming again! Others should also come for lower price sit-in Chinese food!!

Food: The Tomato egg noodle was good, tasted just like a classic tomato egg, the salt pepper tofu was also really good, i love how they use silken when other places mostly use firm tofu, the hot and sour soup was very standard, not too sour or spicy :) and surprisingly the black sesame peanut mochi was so bomb it was the most delicious mochi i've ever had, idk if they make it fresh because it was warm! Service & Ambiance: I can't really speak for this bc I ordered delivery! Overall based on this experience I would definitely order food from here again, be in delivery or in person

dry braised green beans = $10.95

My family and I went to the Bay back in November when the second wave of the pandemic was about to hit. With that in mind, rather than eat out, we ordered to-go and ate in the safety of our suite. Spices Noodle House was a gem during our visit. We ordered the following for dinner one night: -sesame chicken ($10.95): looks and acted a lot like orange chicken, but the pieces were a skinnier and coated in sesame seeds hence sesame chicken -dry braised green beans ($10.95) -salt and pepper fish ($9.95) -Mongolian beef ($10.95) -wontons in chili oil ($7.95) It all came with white rice, proper utensils, and everything you could possibly need for a to-go situation. And honestly, everything was so, so good. No complaints here. It was exactly what we were looking for and it how exactly we wanted everything to taste. Nothing was new or out the ordinary, but instead, the very best versions of what we've eaten in the past outside the comfort of our home. I can't imagine how much more tasty it might be in the restaurant if the take out situation is solid. If you're looking for a quick/cheap/easy meal, this is it.

Read!!!! DO NOT eat here. several health violations!! food tasted as if it was re cooked. service was bad to say the least. utensils and servingware were dirty no music in the dining room whatsoever, the only thing you hear is the cellphone of the servers while they are watching videos.

    Mongolian Beef over Rice

I tried this place because I was craving some spicy dumplings in chili oil. So I ordered that, some hot and sour soup and a Mongolian beef lunch plate, which comes with white rice. I wasn't impressed by the dumplings. I'm not sure what it was, I think whatever kind of wrapper they use for the wontons was not very good. But I did like them better when I dropped some in my hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was not hot at all. It was just sour. So the two items were made better by each other but that wasn't what I was after. The Mongolian beef was really tasty and the portion was very generous. I think it was a lunch special, but it easily fed two of us. I would return for the Mongolian beef and to try other lunch specials but I'll leave the soup and wontons alone.

Food: 7/10 Value: 10/10 Service: N/A (takeout only during COVID) Portion size: large This was my first time here! They have a menu with hand sanitizer for you at the front door. You can call in or place your order there. Food only took about 15 minutes from when we placed our order. We got the tan tan mince pork noodles, the spicy brisket noodle soup and the salt and pepper fish fillet. The tan tan noodle were good! And such a large portion. I tasted more of a peanut flavor is this tan tan noodle which I like. It also had some cucumbers and cabbage so at least I got some greens in! The spicy brisket was my favorite! It had the schezwan flavor spices soup base and the brisket was tender and some pieces melted in my mouth! It also came with a good amount of bok choy. The fish fillets were okay. I like the crust to be super thin a flaky so for me there was too much dough on these ones. It had good flavor though and they added a red spice which gave it a nice kick.

Spices Noodle House is a spinoff of Spices 1-3, Spices 3 being across the street. The Noodle House is similar flavors but slightly different menus. I have tried their noodle soup and cold sesame noodles. My wife and I really like their desserts like the fried sesame balls and fried mochi. I would go again.

Followed my Yelp friend Daniel C.'s 5 star review of Spices Noodle House. The restaurant is actually the old location of Spices 3 that consequently moved across the street to what was once a hot pot restaurant. The interior is the same and the spices motif still on the front window. Construction on 12th Street makes access and parking difficult. We arrived around 2 pm and there was only one other table but they had a brisk take out business. I had a special request for half and half order of spicy brisket and half beef shank noodle soup and it did not disappoint. 5 stars spicy and numbing broth with QQ noodles $9.95. All of the noodle dishes are extra large and and feed two. We also had the Three topping dry noodles $8.95. 4 stars. We ordered two side dishes and it was funny we ordered them seperately but each time the server had to go outside and come back with ingredients each time, like she went to the market. Salt and pepper egg plant $6.95 4 stars Dry Braised green beans $8.95 4 stars. Service was good. Street parking for Oakland Chinatown is always hard during peak dinning hours.

This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

After walking around to visit the many vendors, I decided to have lunch at Yung Kee on the corner of 9th & Webster Streets. One of my friends has dined here and recommended this restaurant for lunch. After perusing the menu, the choices were narrowed to chicken congee or shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice. The congee would have been good and the weather was cool. However, the last time I had shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice was at a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco near my job in the Civic Center area over 12 years ago. Eats: shrimp and scrambled eggs over rice and a pot of hot tea. Drizzled with some soy sauce, my dish was delicious. The hot tea was perfect, flavorful and soothing when I drank about 5 cups. This was total comfort food and beverage that I almost doze off in the restaurant. For $15, it was a good deal. The only drawback was one of the employees was mopping the floor when I was eating my lunch. I will return in the future to have lunch again. I might even order food to go for dinner.
