B R O. I've been going here since around 2010 and it's by far my favorite Thai place in Arcadia. All other Arcadia Thai places? BASIC. This place? COMFORT FOOD, BABY!!!! I CRAVE this place. My standard order: the all day garlic and pepper chicken special ($8, baby!!!), pad thai (not the best I've had, but pretty good!), tom yum soup with shrimp (if you order it medium spicy, that broth'll get you. HOO!!!), and fish cakes (the sauce is also a bit spicy because of the jalapenos, but the sweetness of the sauce and the cucumbers and onions really balance it out). The thai iced teas are only $1.50! Plenty of parking right out front and around the corner. This is a take-out only place. You can't eat inside. UGH. Love it! Order ahead. read more

Wow. I saw the reviews here and wanted to give this place a try with my mom. What a hidden gem. At first we thought we could dine in, didn't fully research and realized it was a to-go place only. My mom wanted to eat at a sit down restaurant but the aromas of garlic filled the air outside that it convinced us to order and take it to go. We ordered the panang curry, pad see ew, papaya salad and mango sticky rice. All that for $48! Oh boy did they give us so much. Most places give half the amount they did and double the price. They really filled it up to the brim. Food was delicious and had so much leftover still. This place is affordable and the service was quick even though we ordered when we arrived. The Tom Yum Soup lacked flavor. I couldn't even taste lemon grass, lemon leaves or galangal. It should also have a hint of fish sauce which I couldn't taste at all. It tasted watered down to me. Maybe the put too much tomato and that absorbed the delicate flavors? I've actually perfected making Tom Yum Soup with authentic ingredients that I've needed to buy at Asian Markets so I KNOW what it's supposed to taste like and what it's not. I've eaten at many Thai restaurants and Small Thai eateries with better food. The Pad See Ew also lacked seasoning and the chicken was tough to eat. My experience with Thai food is a journey of aromatic ingredients accompanied by a perfect crunch of vegetable and soft succulent protein and I didn't find anything like that here. This is a local gem, right across from First Ave middle school. I used to come here in high school, over 15 years ago! Love this place - I had pad woon sen for the first time here. Changed my life! Never knew this dish, slightly sweet, very savory, so homey, would be so good. The papaya salad and pad see ew are delish too. I would say I don't typically love their pad thai so maybe pass on that. Thai Food is probably my favorite cuisine (aside from Taiwanese food), and ever since a trip to Bangkok in 2016 I've been looking for the best in the area. I will honestly say that this is not the best tasting Thai Food, but if you're looking to get the best bang for your buck and the most insane portions of any restaurant, come to Spices Thai Kitchen. An order of the Spicy Fried Rice EASILY feeds the average person 2 meals, and for someone like me (who eats 2-3 peoples portions), sometimes I can't even finish it. The container holding the food literally feels as heavy as 2 bricks (not really, but you know what I'm trying to get at) all at a price for under $10. It's a tiny little mom-and-pop to-go only spot, so go support them especially during these tough times! I just want to say that I love their yellow chicken curry. Most yellow curries are spicy even when you ask for mild, but spices Thai kitchen made it just how I wanted it. For the money, you can't go wrong here. Interestingly, nine times out of 10 eating at Spices, I order the six dollar lunch special. Each time, the meal has been slightly different - a little spicier, a little sweeter, one time not enough salt- but I've always been satisfied with the meal, and the price I paid. Don't come here expecting to sit down. This place is about the size of the bathroom at Starbucks. With a loyal following, however, there are always at least a couple of people milling around, waiting for an order, or picking up after calling in. Wait times for orders can be substantial, but I've always hoped this means my meal is being cooked fresh, not slopped in a to go container from beneath a heat lamp. As an added bonus, The restaurant is across the street from a liquor store. So, if you feel like having a big can of Monster or an adult beverage with your Pad Thai or yellow curry, you're in luck... Just be advised local law enforcement frowns upon open containers on city streets, even if you're using the contents to wash down your the ample contents of your styrofoam food boat. The nearby middle school has a minimum impact on the restaurant, but if you're planning on getting an early dinner here around 3:15, expect a little traffic and nowhere to park. All other times are pretty wide open. I also like their Tom Kha Ga, but if you want hot, you gotta ask for it, or bring your own. Sriracha doesn't cut it. This is definitely a nice small local place that I like to support. I'm still waiting for them to give me the heater when I ask for spice... But that's just the way it goes when you look like a rookie walking in. Maybe someday they'll give me the nose-running, eye-watering good stuff. Make sure you tell them I sent you-- not because you'll get any special treatment or deal... In fact, I'm 100% sure they won't know what or who you're talking about. But watching the look on the cashier's face as you name drop a stranger might give you something to do while waiting there for your order. read more

After reading all the reviews I'll give it a shot. This rating is for the catfish only. The tofu curry was pretty tasty. I open the container and was like wait a minute this is not catfish. Where is the bones? Why the sauce so running and not thick? This doesn't look or taste like catfish. I called to to complain. They said oh yeah sorry customers were complaining about the bones so we don't use that anymore and instead we use filet. Omg I was disappointed. We found Spices Thai and we literally drove three minutes away to this awesome mom n' pop spot. I ordered the rice noodles with chicken and my amazing boyfriend ordered the chicken and rice. We both ordered drinks with our meal. I got the Green Tea Smoothie and he got something else Thai Milk Tea. Both were delicious. He loved my Pad Thai with chicken...wished we got more. Tiny eatery that is a to-go place only (no dine in option) located in the quite part of of Arcadia with street parking only. My husband and I decided to check out this place last Saturday (since I had it bookmarked for a while). We walked in and decided to order: #33 Gai Khauh (Chicken & Squid Noodle), $9 prior to tax- Loved the tender noodles and sauce/ flavors used for this dish. A nice generous portion that can easily be shared with 4-5 people. I thought the chicken was a bit dry, but I did like the large chewy pieces of squid. #26 Garlic Fried Rice with Chicken, $8 prior to tax- Portion of this dish is also more than enough for 4-5 people. Really liked the flavors of the fried rice. You have your choice of choosing beef, pork or chicken (and decided to opt for poultry). #8 Tom Yum Soup, $8 prior to tax- My husband really wanted some Thai soup and decided upon this one. I wasn't much of a fan and felt the lemongrass was an overkill of any flavor that was in this soup. Also it was spicy and I am just not a spicy eating person. I personally would not order this one again but I think my husband thought it was okay. ------------------------------- (Total= $28.25 after tax) When we made our order, the employee who took our order told us it would be about a 20 minute wait. But I think our food was ready in about 15 minutes, which was nice that we didn't have to wait as long (but what's another 5 minutes?). In the future though, I would probably just phone in my order before coming (now that I have a copy of their menu). There is only 4 or 5 chairs for waiting with plenty of magazines to occupy the time in case you don't get a chance to phone in your order ahead of time. Since we went on a fairly sunny day, I was a little peeved with the sun shining on my face (even though the blinds were drawn, it still shined through).
