We ordered Beef Pad See Ew, Crab fried rice, chicken fried rice (my little one is allergic to crab), pork BBQ, deep fried fish with sweet and sour sauce over rice, and shrimp Pad Thai. Pad see ew was good. The pork BBQ was bomb... kids couldn't get enough! The fried rice was excellent but will try without the chicken next time (chicken was a bit bland and dry), but we loved the crab fried rice! The sweet and sour fish was bomb too! Our least favorite was probably the shrimp pad Thai. It was an odd pink color, and the flavor was mediocre but not bad. Just had better pad Thai elsewhere. This did not stop us from ordering from here the very next day because like I said, my boy couldn't get enough of the pork BBQ! So the next day we tried the Drunken Noodle (our FAVE! So good with medium spice!!), garlic shrimp medium spice was delish if you like mushrooms, and we ordered egg fried rice and shrimp fried rice, which both were good and so authentic tasting. Great little take out only Thai restaurant! I placed an order over the phone for 7 items and it was ready in about 25 minutes. They were also able to modify half of my orders to vegetarian style. My order came out to be around $80 which is a really good deal. We had enough food to feed 6 people and had leftovers. Family faves were the pineapple fried rice and the lad nah. Dish to pass on was the pad thai. It had a strange flavor and was very red--definitely not what we were used to eating. We also got the king curry fried rice which was really good but extremely spicy for mild. It was too spicy for me but my mom loved it. Was in the area and thought I'd get some Thai food for my trip. I ordered two pad Thai's with shrimp, 1 yellow curry with shrimp, a Thai tea with boba and a mango sticky rice. I'm sitting here for over 40 min and I've watched 4 people come order after me and get their food. There is no air conditioning in this place. I've only had the boba while sitting here in this heat and the Thai tea is not bad but all the boba is stuck together and clumped into a big ball. Still can't understand why everyone got their order before me. The person taking my order is very sweet and realized what had happened and brought me a refill of my tea but had I known it would take this long, I would have gone elsewhere as I have an hour and a half drive to get home. I will update my review once I taste the meals I ordered. Yellow curry with shrimp 2 stars- too much of some spice..not spicy but it was overpowered by a spice I can't put my finger on. Onions, too much potato, very very paper thin carrots, red bell peppers and shrimp. Again, didn't have the same traditional flavor of yellow curry Thai style at least. Also does not come with rice. That is extra. I was very disappointed and definitely will not be back..especially after seeing someone's photo with a roach engulfed in sauce in their container. I get some people don't mind eating insects, however, I do not. I gave an extra star because the person who took my order was very sweet but no excuse for making me wait 40 min just because I ordered multiple things instead of 1 when I was told it would be 15 min! Spices Thai Kitchen is an amazing little Thai kitchen hidden on First street in Arcadia! I first came here a month ago looking for some Thai food close by for lunch and came across this place that was literally down the street from me. When you arrive you'll realize this place really is a kitchen as it's a small little building hidden by its surroundings. However, don't let that discourage you as they are hiding some truly magnificent cooking in there! Starting off with the service, it's really quick! The longest I've waited for my food was about 6-7 minutes and I've been going around lunch time! The workers are also really nice and can also be really flexible with pickup orders! Just today I ordered over the phone and asked for a pickup time an hour from the call and when I arrived it was ready for me and still hot too! Now onto the main topic, the food! This Thai food isn't life changing but it's some real good stuff! When I imagine some home cooked Thai food I think of this place as every dish I've had is filled with love and passion! The spice levels are also no joke, so if you can't handle spice then stick with mild! If you're feeling up to it you can try medium for a nice burn and spicy if you're a spice junkie like me! In terms of recommendations, I gotta plug the lunchtime special stir fried pork with bamboo shoots and chili over rice! It's only $8 before tax and really fills you up if your on a budget like I am! As a side note, I tried the Thai tea with boba and while it wasn't boba shop level, it was bad either. Especially considering it was only $2.50! Lastly, while I've touched on it a bit already, the price of this kitchen is fantastic! Everything is really cheap and high quality! I've been testing out some of the lunch specials as they're only $8 each and come in big portion sizes. So far, they've been great and really spare my student size budget! We spent an entire year living a block away and neglected to try this place. Joke's on us! It's the best Thai Spot in the surrounding 5 mile radius. Fast and friendly service, knowledgeable on vegan diets, well priced and straight up quality, delectable dishes. Even the curry can be customized to suit a plant based diet! Try the Kee Mao Noodles and traditional Pad Thai Tofu. Green or Yellow Curry is yummo son. I like it for takeout myself. Don't believe there's seating, nor is there any alcohol. My sister got us takeout tonight for dinner, and it was amazing! We got 1. crab fried rice: SOOO packed with crab; so flavorful! 2. pad see ew with tofu: very generous with tofu as well! If you are looking for a top of the chart Thai restaurant, this is the place! I go here every other week or so to get my Thai food fix! The owners are very sweet and accommodating. They are always so lively and polite! I always order the Chicken Pad See Ew but I always tell them more "well-done" which adds the best flavor! They cook it regularly and then leave it in the wok for a bit longer to get the authentic Thai Wok taste! (Note that this makes the noodles a little more burnt which is very flavorful!) Also keep in mind that their spice levels are the Thai spice levels meaning mild is a bit spicy and medium is very spicy! Just ordered this and HOLY COW is it tasty! We ordered the spicy thai rice, spicy drunken noodles, thai fried rice with chicken, pad see ew with beef. Their chicken is REALLY good and not dry. My toddler devoured the thai fried rice which is saying something because she usually doesn't like rice at all. We also got egg rolls and fried dumplings. All crunchy and tasty. A very small restaurant, serve mostly for take out food. Got a few tables inside, but not a very comfortable restaurant for eat in. Very typical Thai restaurant with typical Thai menu. The kitchen maybe a little slower than others though. But the food quality and quantity is good. We ordered pad see ew and spicy mint ground chicken with rice. The Pad see ew is HUGE!! With tons of meat and Chinese broccoli and noodle. One of the biggest noodle (in term of quantity) that I ever ate. The only down side for me is, the dish is a little bit too sweet for my taste. But overall, a very satisfying dish. The mint ground chicken is tasty, it's also a little bit sweet. So I start wondering maybe all dishes in this restaurant got a little sweet taste. But this dish can improve much by adding a pan fried eggs on top (or as an option). Price is unbelievable. Two dishes for $17+ only. And tons of left over. It's advisable to order ahead before coming. The restaurant is located on first and Duarte in Arcadia. Serving only take out and catering. The Thai foods here are top notch and delicious. I particularly like their pad Thai. It's very authentic with all the fresh Thai ingredients. The sweetness and sour taste create a beautiful taste. The noodle is cooked to the right doneness. This is my second time ordering from Spices Thai Kitchen. Their Spicy Fried Rice with Crispy Pork is as outstanding as the first time I ordered it. It is very flavorful, perfectly seasoned and spicy to the level my tongue can endure and enjoy. The last time I also their Chicken Satay, Chicken Curry and 2 other items, which my family and I enjoyed and raved about to our friends. However, today I wanted to be adventurous and tried other dishes beside our favorite Spicy Fried Rice with Crispy Pork. I ordered their BBQ Pork, Chicken Pad See Ew and Beef Salad. I have to say that my family and I were very disappointed at the Chicken Pad See Ew and Beef Salad. The main reason for our disappointment is the fact that the chicken and beef tasted like they were boiled and not seasoned well, which make them taste bland and chewy. I really don't know why the chef treated the meats like they didn't deserve more love like other ingredients. Now, while the noodle in the Chicken uPad See Ew tastes really good because it tastes like it was stir fried and has that wonderful smoky wok aroma (just like the Spicy Fried Rice with Crispy Pork), the chicken is a different story; it tastes like it was dumped in last and cooked just long enough to be edible. The chicken is basically large pieces of breasts. We know that if you don't cook chicken breasts properly, they taste bland, chewy and nasty. They could have cut the breasts into smaller strips, marinaded them better and, for God sake, fried them separately to give them that beautiful smoky wok aroma before combining them with other ingredients. Then the whole dish would taste like 5-star instead of 2-star. Until then, I won't dare to try anything with chicken, except the chicken curry. Maybe. Similarly, the beef in the beef salad could properly be a lot tastier if it also didn't taste like it was boiled. The only things that save the dish are the lettuce, mint, cilantro, onion, fish sauce, red chili and lime or lemon juice. I wish they could have at least lightly marinaded the beef and either fried or grilled (preferable) it before combining it with the other ingredient. As presently prepared, the beef is chewy, lacking flavors and not living up to it potential. Finally, the BBQ Pork is just barely OK. The meats taste like they were marinaded, but they could be a little bit more tender. What would make them a lot more tastier if they actually tasted like they were grilled as opposed to just being pan fried. I still like this restaurant and will continue to be their customer, but I will avoid the above 3 dishes until they taste better than how they taste today. read more

It's better if you order on the phone since they get so many orders and if you walk in, you'll need to wait around 15-20 minutes. It's to-go only and I believe they have a minimum for card but that's not an issue since you'll probably order more than you'll realistically eat. My go-tos are the Pad Kee Mao and the Pad Thai. I also tried Tom kah with chicken today. The soup itself was really good. Medium spicy was actually pretty spicy, which I enjoyed. After a 3 year hiatus from Spices, I went back today and quickly realized why I stopped going. After more than a dozen visits, the food and spice levels were always inconsistent. We also seem to end up w/ a bad dish quite often. Unless we order the same items each time, venturing off to something new often results in a mistake. This time, I ordered my usual ground chicken & mint leaves. It was average, missing a fried egg and the few hints of basil didn't give any extra flavor. I expected the pepper beef to be heavy w some blk pepper or Thai chili pepper, but I think they meant red bell peppers. The few piece of tough beef bathed in a sweet/sour broth w/ chunks of tomatoes & canned pineapple. Worst thing I've had there. Red curry w chicken was better. Decent flavor curry w plenty of bamboo shoots, eggplant, but not too much chicken. The thin slices of chicken were overcooked and tough, not tender nor easy to chew. For me, this place has turned into one of those 'ok, I'm full, but not satisfied' type of eateries. It'll prob be years before I come back, long after I've forgotten writing this review. All food were a 2/5, but because everyone I've ever encountered here were pleasant, I bumped it up to a 3/5, they at least are consistent in that. I was waiting at another restaurant down the street when it was taking too long and I was starving. I found this location on Yelp and figured I can use some Thai food. I called in to make a to go order (pad Thai, papaya salad, pad see ew, Tom yum soup), and the person on the phone said that the wait would take about 20 minutes. That was fine since it probably would've taken the same time at the restaurant I was waiting for. About 15 min passed and I decided to go to the location to pay. There is a lot of street parking and so I parked across from the restaurant. It seemed to be a takeout only spot and the person working the window was able to take my payments and actually hand me my food. The food was so delicious and the portions were so generous!!
