One feature item is their Yunnan Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle, which features a hot peppery broth, rice noodles, and an array of different ingredients including chicken, luncheon meat, pork slices, fish slices, bean sprouts, cilantro, scallions, pickled vegetables, enoki mushrooms, and quail eggs. Each of the ingredients was presented separately at the table before our server mixed everything into the hot broth, which brought everything together. We also had the "Single Small Pot Cooked Noodle Soup" (directly translated), which featured the same rice noodles in a numbing spicy broth along with tofu skin, ground pork, scallions, and bean sprouts. As an appetizer, we had the BBQ Lamb Skewers, which had a lean, meaty texture and a tasty chili/spice seasoning on top. The restaurant is located underground in Chinatown. Price is reasonable, spent around 20 dollars per person with tax and tip. It does not feel very clean. We found a piece of hair in our noodle dish. Service is pretty quick. Besides the hair in the food, everything else was average or below average of other chinese restaurant. The seafood soup with Szechuan spice was super tasty and could honestly feed three people. The stir fried eggplant with garlic was a side but I could've eaten the whole thing as my entree. Relatively new place, in a basement level. Colorful and vibrant menu, where everything looks good. The various soups are really nice here! Crispy Potato Pancake: Really enjoyed this Chinese Latke. The potato strings were longer and a little thicker than a regular latke. It was loosely combined, for a nice texture of where you could feel all the strands. Crispy and tender inside. Really great. Spicy Fried Potato: A bit of a letdown after the potato pancake. Kinda like slightly spiced home fries. BBQ Lamb Skewer: Kinda small looking, but they pack a lot of flavor. Nicely marinated and a good BBQ texture. Some chili spices, but not too hot. Chongqing Style Spicy Chicken: Fried chicken with tons of dried chilis is starting to become a staple in Chinatown. It's a fun appetizer/snack to share. Not sure if it's my tolerance building, but this didn't seem terribly spicy. Crossing the Bridge Noodles: I'm a sucker for tableside preparation. It's a sizzling pot of soup broth. Then a bunch of things are added in. Proteins first, then veggies, then noodles. It cooks quite quick and then you have a huge pot of deliciousness. The broth is subtle, kinda like chicken pho. The ham / spam meat was probably the tastiest. The thin white meat slices, pork I think, were also good. The chicken pieces had more bone and skin than meat, so was a bit too much effort. I liked the fish, but kinda wish the skin wasn't on it. The quail eggs seemed a bit rubbery. The pickled veggie, whatever it was, was nice. Super filling as a meal for one person; no need for appetizers. Single Small Pot Cooked Noodle Soup: This was just perfect on a chilly winter day. Warm flavorful broth with a lots of nice chili spices. The noodles were soft and the meat was tender. I especially liked the pickled greens in the mix, for a nice sour tang. Fish Fillet with Pickled Mustard Green Broth: Wow, the flavor in this is amazing. Nice herbal broth with a good pickled veggie tang. I liked how the chili flavor came from actual picked chilis instead of dried spices. Really gives you a nice jolt when you get one. Super good, casual restaurant with awesome friendly staff in Chinatown. You have to walk down to a basement level to the restaurant, and then up a flight if you want a bathroom. The space is utterly unimpressive. The food, however, was what we hoped for; traditional, fresh, presented well, and very very spicy. We were craving spicy Chinese food and found this place. We were seated quickly, but it took an hour for our dishes to arrive. It seemed like there was only one cook and 2 servers working in the restaurant. We ordered the spicy sliced beef and tripe, wok-fried spicy pork intestines with chili, and spicy fish with flaming chili broth. Everything tasted alright, it's not that spicy, but one thing I didn't understand was why even the appetizer, the spicy sliced beef and tripe, took an hour to come out. It's a cold dish, why would it need that long to prepare? The spicy fish with flaming chili broth had good flavor, but the portion size was really small, with a few chunks of fish in the broth. If you're looking for Chinese comfort food, this is the place to go. Tucked under a few stairs, it's a newer restaurant in Chinatown and a welcome addition. With a wide menu and many classic Chinese dishes, it's become a go-to whenever I'm looking to get a filling, comfort meal. Some of my favorites include the fish fillet with pickled mustard greens and the rice balls in rice wine dessert. One other highlight you can find here is the stir-fried crab with ginger and scallion, by far the most flavorful way you can eat crab. The portion sizes are great for the price you pay and the quality is well worth it. If you're looking for excellent Chinese food while in the city, this is the place to visit. read more

After my haircut, I walked by and decided to give it try. I only ordered one dish, which is the rice noddles with soup. It was delicious and nutritious. I felt so good after some hot soup. 5/5. A must visit in China Town! Walk down the stairs into a basement restaurant. No fritz, some paper balls hanging from the ceiling. Nothing to see, but man, there are things to taste! The "fried noodle" (chow mein) is the best I've ever had in my life.. and I'm from the east coast, with NYC close by where they make lo mein. Their fried noodle/chow mein was made with thin noodles, that kept a bite, soaked up so much flavor but were not oily in the slightest! We got the veggie version, with egg, broccoli (so flavorful!), bokchoy, and red onions. I am literally craving it for days now since we had it. We also ordered the orange chicken - which I believe was made with chicken thighs. It was dark meat, a light coating which made it crispy but not battery, and a delicious sauce. My husband referred to this as the best orange chicken he's ever had. We got the pork fried rice - that was rather than those bright red questionable "pork" peices you sometimes get in other restaurants, this pork was ground up, almost like a ground sausage. There was no frozen peas or carrots, but instead fresh green onions. Upon looking at the dish, it didn't look to be that flavorful, but it was loaded with flavor! I wish every fried rice came like this! Lastly we got the crab puffs. At first they were still very cold in the middle (possibly previously frozen) but they refried them for us and they came back hot. They were very creamcheesy and good - not fishy at all. Not the highlight of the show, but still great. We got a pot of hot tea to drink, which always pairs so nicely. Service was fine, nothing amazing.. but the food made up for it. Like most restaurants in Chinatown these days, I identify them by their previous iteration or previous to that. This basement eatery most recently was named Chef Hung's, serving Western style Chinese cuisine and best known for their petrale sole. During the summer 2025, this basement restaurant opened to little fanfare. Walking by a number of times, I scanned their posted menu near the entrance () and a staff member happened to be going to work. I asked her what time they opened (11:30 am) and returned about 30 minutes later. After going down the stairs, a gentleman gave me my pick of tables and I chose one against the left wall. After looking at the menu book, yes it's that thick, I asked about the two soup noodle options and decided on one. The variety of ingredients soaked up the flavor from the broth toake this a tasty meal. My nose ran and I worked up a slight sweat as I slurped, cheese on the meat and veggies, and sipped the broth. I would order this again. I was the only customer for quite a while before a couple of parties came in besides a delivery driver. They say the best restaurants are the hidden ones--the true hole‑in‑the‑wall gems. This spot fits that perfectly. Tucked downstairs below street level, it turned out to be an incredible surprise. The food was outstanding with flavors that felt genuinely original. I've eaten at plenty of Chinese restaurants, and I almost always end up reaching for soy sauce or sriracha. But here? The dishes were so perfectly seasoned that I completely forgot the sriracha was even sitting on the table. Every texture, every sauce, every bite was spot on. The spice had a real kick, but never in a way that overpowered the flavor. Service was a little slow since only two people were working the floor, but once they got to you, they were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive. I brought family visiting from out of town, and they loved it just as much as I did. It was a unanimous 5‑star experience from all of us. And the standout dish for me? Spicy and cloud is a delicious chinatown restaurant. One plus for me was that their food was not incredibly salty like most Chinese restaurants. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The fried rice was delicious and it was very nice how you could mix and match any meat for the same price (good portions too!) The only downside was the wait... came on a Saturday night and waited about 45 mins which I'm not surprised its a Saturday, and they looked incredibly understaffed. Second is the scenery nothing too crazy nor ambient if you're looking for something romantic, but other than that it is a delicious Chinese restaurant I highly recommend! read more
