The two workers there were both so passionate about the cuisine and created a friendly ambiance. Beef bone wintermelon broth was so amazing, we drank so many bowls and kept asking for refills! Foods were also so enjoyable. Was an amazing meal that warmed us up in the cold night!

Absolutely incredible- best hot pot I have had in a long time! The ingredients are so fresh and flavorful, and there is a very wide selection on the menu! We had the 2 soups, mushroom and beef bone broth and both were so rich and had deep flavor! The service is amazing, and they helped us order a really good combination and the perfect amount. Really made our day- definitely will be back!

I highly recommend the Spicy Beef Slices! They are so flavorful. The potato slices also cook quickly and soak up all the sauce perfectly. The fried rice is another must-try. The owner is super welcoming, and the bingfen (ice jelly) features real rose and osmanthus--the floral aroma is incredible!"

Right across the street from Monroe and a bunch of strip clubs, Fondue Chinoise is a very unassuming Chinese hot pot restaurant with massive red wooden doors. We went pretty late around 8 pm and there was still 3 other parties in front of us waiting to get seated. I will say the service was extremely slow here. We saw so many tables open for all of the waiting groups and then some but there were so few people working the hall that the clean up was slow and they just didn't have the bandwidth to seat us. We repeatedly had to ask for things that we had ordered and they were often getting tables mixed up with orders. We ended up waiting almost 30 mins to get seated and then more to start eating. Till the end of the meal we were never given cups for water (they had pitchers at each table) and they also didn't refill a lot of the ingredients in the sauce bar. I don't think it was bad service though, our guy only talked to us in Chinese and we were just communicating via vibes but he was able to get us what we needed when we asked. It was just hard to get a hold of anyone to begin with The tomato broth here was super yummy. It wasn't overly oily like other hot pot places and it was a good mix of tomato flavour and the rich broth. Overall the ingredients were pretty fresh and meat quality was pretty good.

Don't let the restaurant name fool you, this is the most authentic Chongqing hotpot you'll find in SF. They have great broths (my favorites are the pork bone and spicy sichuan), and their meats and vegetables are fresh. Their fried rice, pig blood rice cake, and brown sugar sticky rice cakes are really good. The owner is also sweet and friendly. Would recommend for an authentic hotpot experience!

The owner is incredibly warm and attentive -- from the moment we walked in to placing our order, everything was handled with so much patience and care. The ingredients were super fresh, and the soup bases were amazing! I chose the three-flavor combo: tomato , beef bone , and mild spicy . Each one had its own unique taste, and the flavors got even better as it simmered. It was my first time trying the smoked pork intestines, and I didn't expect them to be this delicious -- flavorful but not greasy, with a great texture. I'll definitely come back again!

I literally always thought this place did Fondue from the name! Finally visited after looking for hotpot in Chinatown, and they do not do AYCE. I think at the end of the day the prices are a bit steep, but the interior decor and service are nice! I liked the pork bone broth more than the tomato.

A decent hotpot spot, with 3 different types of spice levels for the mala hotpot broth. There's a variety of dishes to choose from - including some very authentic Chinese dishes and drinks also! Service was alright, it takes a while to get their attention, but they always give you complimentary dessert at the end which is a nice touch Overall a nice ambience but is a bit costly and there are better AYCE places for value, but Fondue Chinoise is a good place for mala hotpot broth.

Pretty good hotpot for a decent price! Went late night with a group of friends (around 9pm) and it was fairly empty. We got seated without a wait and were able to order quickly as well. We split the tomato and pork bone broth and both were good! Lots of sauces available. Really liked the oyster and sesame sauces. Their chili oil has a big kick to it! We ordered a variety of hot pot ingredients, but I enjoyed the fried dough sticks (youtiao) and fried rice the most (although it's quite oily; it has great flavor though). Everything else was pretty standard for hotpot. All the food came out very fast and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend if you're looking for a solid hotpot spot in the area :)

Do not come if you are looking for authentic hotpot. This place used to be good, but now it's a mess. Maybe they changed owners. Only two waiters for the whole place. We waited over an hour for food. Soups are almost water. Portions were tiny. $7 for 4 small pieces corn. Crispy pork was just pure fat--disgusting. Never again.

Fondue Chinoise was a very solid chinese hot pot spot. I think the broth is very good and spicy/flavorful like it should be. The waitress was super nice also and proactive in serving us. We also ordered a mango Soju and it was huge, they definitely plugged us :). The only thing is that is felt a bit more pricey than my favorite spots like Liuyishou and the new Feng hot pot. It also was more expensive for better cuts of meat. read more

I've been coming here for years and live nearby, but after today's experience, I don't think I'll be returning. I came in with family expecting the usual service. I understand there's new ownership -- that's totally fine. But when I went to grab my sauces, the owner stopped me and said each person could only get one bowl. I had paid $3 for unlimited sauce. He said he wasn't limiting the sauce, they just didn't have enough bowls that night, but goes on and said he sees a lot of customers wasting sauces. Respectfully, that doesn't feel like something a paying customer should have to accommodate. On top of that, the food quality has really gone downhill. The entire experience felt uncomfortable and disappointing -- almost like I was paying to get scolded. That's not the standard I've experienced here in the past, and it's unfortunate to see such a decline. read more

Decent spot for hot pot, but definitely on the pricier side. The Signature Spicy Beef Tallow Pot soup base (we got mild spicy) was definitely too spicy for us and we were sweating the entire time Nothing particularly special about the dishes though. We got the USDA Prime Angus Ribeye (smaller portion than expected but good quality meat), pork belly (one of the stars of the night, not too fatty but very tender), fish balls (pretty solid), veggie combo (decent value and variety of veggies), and a few others It ended up being even more expensive than the AYCE hot pot spot in Chinatown (this restaurant is located on the outskirts/neighboring locale), so probably will go there instead next time Ambiance was quite spacious and it definitely felt very comfortable with the high ceilings and distance across tables. Been meaning to try this place for years and finally tried for the first time. Came on a Friday night and surprisingly not too busy, my friends and I did end up waiting like 30 minutes to get seated but it took us a while to get our full party here anyways. Cute decor and very nicely designed menu! I thought they had probably the coolest menu out of all the hotpot restaurants I've had in the bay. The meat quality was pretty good too, I thought the soup was okay, nothing bad but nothing spectacular, probably better than a lot of the ayce hotpots though. Overall would come back for a big group gathering given the spacious seating, but there wasn't anything too memorable that I felt like a game changer for me read more

This place is amazing! We got the 3 soup base with spicy beef tollow, pork bone, and tomato. They had a sauce bar but didn't really need it with the soup bases being rich in flavor. Tons of delicious meats, veggies, and noodle options. I love hot pot! Price was reasonable in SF. I haven't seen my daughter eat so much in a long time. They have a really good egg fried rice and fresh fried mochi dessert too!! read more

It was absolutely fantastic! We opted for the tomato soup base and the hot soup paste, both of which were rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The tomato base had a comforting tanginess, while the hot soup paste added just the right amount of spice and zechuan. Service was excellent! The variety of vegetables and meats were all fresh and cooked to perfection in the broth. Every bite was a delightful combination of textures and flavors. Unassuming hot pot place located across the street from Monroe Sf. Was recommended this place by three separate friend groups so felt I had to give it a try. Ambiance: Very casual vibe. Had a reservation so we were seated quickly but the restaurant was fairly packed and the wait for walkins looked pretty long. Lots of locals so you know this place is bussin. Service was great. They gave my friend some free dessert for his birthday and came around every so often to check on us. Food: Fire. Probably best hot pot I have had in the city. The broth is really tasty and you could definitely taste the quality of the meat. Also really enjoyed the potato slice, which I haven't had at any other hot pot venues. The fried pork appetizers were also great. Sauce bar had everything you need. This place definitely lives up to the "Great Chinese food always has 3.5 stars" stereotype.
