When you hear mom and pop, hidden gem, this here is what everyone is talking about! I was randomly in New Albany and while on my way home towards downtown, I really needed a snack. After quickly discovering Spice Cup on Yelp, I bee lined it there as my tummy was rumbling something fierce. You'll find them tucked off Dublin-Grandview Rd in a small strip mall. There's also plenty of parking out front. I walked in to find a slightly outdated space that was adorned with all kinds of plants. If you know me at all you know plants and greenery are my favorite. A smile quickly spread across my face. Almost immediately, what I would describe as a grandma figure that you automatically want to just hug, emerged to answer my questions and even make suggestions. She pointed out her favorite treat and I snagged one up along with a croissant and a conchas. The price tag was insanely cheap and just like that I was on my way. All in all, if you're looking for authentic Mexican treats, you've found your place. A few of my items were a little dry, but I was there towards the end of the day, and they still hit the spot.

According to the website, this restaurant offers an abundant assortment of savory food including sandwiches, quesadillas, empanadas and tamales. Five of us arrived at 5:00 for dinner and there were no tamales and only two empanadas. We grabbed the last 2 empanadas and ordered some quesadillas and sandwiches. The food was really really good and if that's all there was to consider, I'd give this place a "5". However, the proprietress speaks very little English and it was really hard to communicate. One of us ordered sandwiches to go which she wanted to stay in the fridge until she left but she never managed to get that across. One of us asked for a glass of water but couldn't get one. A while later, another person asked for a glass of water and she did manage to get one. The other thing is that the prices on their website are WAY off. The website says empanadas cost 1.75 and quesadillas cost 3.50; yet, I was charged $13 for one empanada and one quesadilla. The proprietress did tell one of us that the prices were wrong but not until she actually paid. The prices are still quite reasonable but they should let people know in advance what things cost. I still don't know if they ever have tamales (did they just run out?) or if they're off the menu for good but there was no way to ask that and expect an answer. The actual restaurant is nice and big and clean.

They are cash only. The pastries section is self service. Could not find prices anywhere posted. Four pastries , two tamales and possibly the best black coffee in the Columbus area set me back $14.00 to go. The husband and wife team behind the counter were a true team working the growing line as a puttered through the pastry purchasing process. The tamales and coffee travelled well. Everything had been carefully packed to go.

This was one of the stops on our Columbus Food Adventures Alt Eats tour. If you look for it, you won't see a sign since we were told it blew off and they never bothered to replace it since their customers know where they are :). Look for the Kafi's Cafe sign! We were served some hot churros and OMG - they were AMAZING! I could have eaten 3, but needed to save space for our other stops. The pastries are a plenty and the prices very reasonable at about $1-$1.50 each. The pastries are light and fluffy and not super sweet like American versions. Definitely worth a visit because it is a hidden gem!

This was this week's Friday bakery pick. It is located at the end of the shopping strip. There is no sign with their name so I almost didn't know where they were. They are also a restaurant. The owner said that they started serving food about a year ago. The owners were super nice and showed me how to pick out the bake goods I wanted. He also went over each one and told me the ones that were just baked. They also brought out fresh goods for me to pick from. They were pretty busy and had already sold out of churros before I got there. They had only been open 2 hours. I got a variety of items. There wasn't anything that the group didn't like. One of the favorites was the cream puff and the coconut topped bread. They have guava turnovers and the donuts are dense. It was nice being able to sample this Mexican bakery. I can't wait to go back to try something else.

    Piping hot delicious churros!

Five stars for customer service and CHURROS!!! Are you a churro junkie? Perhaps you just moved here from Los Angeles and you can't seem to find a good churro? Well look no more my friend! Spicy Cup has your back! They were out when I stopped by so the owners wife asked the crew if they'd make me some fresh. So worth the 20 minute wait! Initially I asked for 3 but after trying one I came back for 2 more. Delicious, lovely churros right here in Cbus.

omg the filled churros!!! sooo good, i'd say even better than the ones I had in Mexico City. So annoyed that we only got 3 to try. Gonna get at least a dozen next time!

Since I reside on the Northside of Columbus, Spicy Cup Cafe & Bakery is part of my daily routine. Amazing Tamales Verdes. Great coffee. The vibe is great in the cafe too! Allows me the space & great vibe to get on my laptop with their wi-fi & work on my business projects. The Quesadillas are FUEGO too! If & when you are on the Northside, check out this hidden gem. No disappointments here.

Good selection of pastries. Currently serve yourself via tongs and a tray, which is way better than picking up with your hands. Had to wait a bit for service, but I suspect they're running with a small crew.

Stopped by this morning for a hot mocha made with almond milk and their breakfast sandwich on an English muffin with chicken sausage, and it was outstanding. The place was pretty packed even at midmorning on a weekday, which is always a good sign. The sandwich came hot right off the grill, fresh, flavorful, and really hit the spot for breakfast. The English muffin had a nice toasted finish, the egg was cooked just right, and the chicken sausage gave it a great savory bite. The hot mocha was smooth, rich, and comforting, the perfect match for a cool morning. Friendly atmosphere, great food, and a cozy neighborhood coffee shop feel. I did not buy any coffee (and you cannot bring any outside food/drink jn), so I cannot speak to that. The one downside is the quality of the seating. There were crumbs all over the couches and I had stopped in before 9am.

When my friend and I came in, it was late morning on a Saturday. Not busy yet but later on more folks that looked like college students came in. The menu doesn't explain much and the syrup and milk options are not on the back wall menu but by the ordering counter. Some syrups aren't available with hot drinks only iced. I tried the pistachio latte with oat milk while my friend tried the chai. As another Yelper said, the drinks are sweet and pretty milky. Not much espresso flavor. I'd come back to try the iced drinks though. They had a lot of fruity flavors. Otherwise, the space is nice. Lots of seating and comfortable couches. They had a little hanger thing by the couches to hang purses and hold long umbrellas. Even the bathrooms were clean and smelled good (they used plug-ins). And the staff were nice. Napkins weren't sitting out so I asked for some. Parking is easy. It shares the same parking lot as El Vaquero and Rusty Bucket. Probably a busy area in the evenings.

I still decided to utilize their walk up window simply because I had a car full of dogs and I didn't want them to miss me. The window is pretty easy. However, the barista prioritized me standing in the rain and quickly took my order I told her I was gonna go back and wait in the car because I had a car full of dogs. When my coffee was ready, she noticed that I was getting attention to my dogs and she decided to hand-deliver my coffee to my car. The ratings in this place are solid five star so it's confusing why but perhaps I had a bad experience with the food and that's not reflective of the whole place of course. First off, the service was good. The girl was friendly and told me I should come back to try that strawberry drink that was on the sign. Second, I can't judge a drink since I didn't have one so late in the evening, but I did get a piece of coffee cake and it was one of the worst things I have eaten in a long time. It tasted like paste in my mouth... Purely flour , butter and sugar. There was not a texture from a crumble at all. And the cinnamon was a complete afterthought. When I say that it tasted mostly like flour, I am not exaggerating. Lastly, the place definitely is cute inside and it seems to be connected to the Goat by hallway.
