The Poke Co has been in Aliso Viejo for a while now and I had not tried it until yesterday. My husband mentioned that they were really busy during lunch hours. My husband and I decided to do a date night along with our dog, Suki. We walked over to Poke Co. They have an outside patio and we went to check out the menu. We ordered the small poke bowl with white rice, salmon and tuna, cucumbers, avocado, green onions, crispy fried onions, ginger, poke sauce, dragons breath sauce, and the mango habanero sauce. I also ordered the kids 2-tender combo meal. Instead of tenders they gave us boneless wings which was fine. I had also asked for a side of ranch and extra packets of soy sauce. We got the poke bowl first and the wings came out shortly afterwards. The poke was fresh and I enjoyed the toppings we chose. The wings were super crunchy and delicious. I can see why they get busy during lunch hours. They have less people stopping by around dinner but it's still pretty good. If you enjoy poke and wings, this is the spot. Yet another review without pictures, I'm sorry. Came here again for my birthday and it was pretty quiet inside. The workers at the counter were really receptive when we walked in. And the interior seemed clean. I got the two item bowl with spicy tuna and salmon bunch of toppings that were included. They really do pack the bowl nicely. I was trying to decide what sauce I wanted and she could tell that I was a little hesitant because I was curious about trying something new and she gave me a little tester which was super cool, but I ended up just going with the good and true Ponzu and spicy mayo.. They've added a new little cover over the food to keep it cool and insulated so that was really nice to see. I wish I took some pictures of the bowls that were ordered because I don't know it looks kind of cool with all the colors and different foods. Maybe I'll get better next time. read more

I went to The Poke Co. in Aliso Viejo because I really love seafood. This location has been really good so far. When you order, you can choose raw poke, or if you don't eat raw fish, they also have teriyaki or cooked chicken rice bowls, that way is nice because there are options for everyone. I ordered a bowl with white rice, salmon, tuna, green beans, carrots, wasabi, mixed vegetables, and The Poke Co. sauce. I like having a lot of different flavors together, and everything mixed really well. The fish tasted fresh and the sauce added a nice flavor. The service was very nice and friendly. They were not rude or disrespectful at all. They are doing a great job. The ambiance is nice with a lot of glass walls, so it feels open and bright with a good view. Came in on a Saturday at 3pm. No one else was in, so no line. Employees were friendly but all seemed pretty new. The service was slow and took a while to build the bowl. Fish was overall fresh but for the price I didn't think it was worth it. The rice was extremely overcooked and mushy which ruined the whole texture of the bowl. The tempura flakes were stale and did not seem fresh either. The avocado was all brown - most likely from oxidation but wasn't appealing to see it like that. The poke here is impressive. The fish is always super fresh, delicate, and silky, and their selection of sauces are delicious. My only suggestion is that you should add albacore and spicy salmon to the menu. Your salmon is perfect, so to have another option would make perfection even better. Lately, I've had to order larger portions at other places just to get a decent amount of fish, but this spot is refreshingly generous, which I really appreciate. Situated next to a movie theater, it's a convenient place to stop by. The customer service is outstanding, super friendly and welcoming. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but since it was rainy and everything outside was wet, I chose to sit inside, where it was spotless and well-maintained. The restaurant is also wheelchair accessible, with plenty of parking available. Most importantly, everything tastes fresh, nothing seems bad or frozen, which makes a big difference. My boyfriend and I stopped in around 4PM on Valentine's Day after hiking at Crystal Cove. We chose this location based on its reviews and proximity, as we were hoping to avoid the busier Newport and Laguna areas. When we walked in, one employee was on break. As the employee at the counter helped the couple in front of us, the other employee came back from break to assist us. I couldn't help but notice they didn't wash their hands after clocking back in (they were wearing gloves, but still something I pay attention to after years in food service). I ordered a medium poke bowl with white rice. After placing my order, I took a closer look at the fish selection and was a little hesitant. The salmon container was nearly empty with just a few pieces sitting at the bottom. To their credit, when I asked, they brought out a fresh container and explained they had just had a rush. That's understandable -- but it did make me wonder why only two people were working during a holiday weekend afternoon. Presentation overall felt underwhelming. The tofu looked dry, and while the tuna looked better than some of the other options, nothing appeared particularly fresh or vibrant. In fact, a couple who walked in behind us took one look at the selection and decided to walk out. Flavor-wise, it was average. The salmon tasted fine, and the spicy tuna was softer in texture than I prefer and not especially spicy. The biggest issue, though, was the cucumbers. When I took a bite, they were completely frozen together in a solid block. The texture was unpleasant and jarring in contrast to the rice and fish. I ended up having to remove the chunk entirely and pick around the rest of the bowl, which honestly made it difficult to enjoy or even finish. At $17 for a medium bowl that wasn't especially large, the value just wasn't there for us. We've tried several poke spots across Orange County and San Diego, and unfortunately this one didn't measure up. read more

After all the toppings / ingredients of your choice are added, you can choose a sauce to add flavor. I went with ponzu. You can add 5 chicken wings for $4, $1.50 extra for it to be boneless which then makes it look like chicken nuggets basically. Choose your flavor, with teriyaki bring the most mild/non spicy. Takes about 5 minutes to cook. Tastes pretty good and pretty fresh. Self serve water dispenser. Restroom inside with huge ceiling. Glad I tried and will definitely come back for my poke fix. Kudos to the young staff working that day--when the manager didn't show up, they didn't stress at all. Instead, they stayed cool, friendly, and accommodating, making sure everyone was taken care of. I ordered a large poke bowl: the Spring salad for the base; skipped the toppings [which looked fresh] because I wanted to taste the quality of the fish; added octopus, salmon, scallops, and tuna as proteins; added their "Poke sauce" dressing, masago [orange fish roe] and wakame [seaweed salad] as garnishes. The large bowl was plenty of food. Everything was fresh! My favorite item of all is the wakame [seaweed salad]. I am a sashimi/fresh fish fanatic and their fish was okay...not great...okay. We were so excited to learn from Yelp that there's a new Poke place in Aliso Viejo. I believe they just opened last November 2023 and because my expectations were very low, we were surprised that their poke was great. The meats were cut perfectly and it was fresh, their spicy mayo was spicy so warning not to ask for too much (I like it spicy). There were lots of items on the menu and were so excited to come back to try other menu items. They charged for extra scoops so be mindful when you ask for more. The price range to me was on the higher side. We paid almost $90 for 3 medium bowls and 1 large bowl, 1 bag of chips and BOGO of milk tea with boba. Poke is quite pricey, but as long as the food is fresh, clean and the flavors are good, it's all worth it. Try this place. I hope they will be consistent with their good customer service. read more
