Roast beef panini and chicken pesto pizza were awesome! Even my 2 year old loved the pizza.

I have been going to SPIN for quite some time. The food is OK, maybe more importantly consistent. The service has been good. The last 2 visits have been different. I almost had to tackle a waiter to get a drink refill (kind of like I feel at Home Depot when I want to get one of those guys with orange outfits to stop and answer a question). In their defense they were busy but of course that kind of service will solve that also. I'll give them a month or two and probably go back and hope for the best. read more

If it weren't so far from my office I would eat here every day for lunch! Went tonight for dinner, our usual Friday outing, and was not disappointed. We arrived at approximately ten after five literally beating the crowd by moments. By the time we had ordered and taken our seats there must have been twenty people waiting in line to order. I had the Mini Mia which is the 6" pizza and salad combination. For just under nine bucks you get a delicious meal that satisfies your healthy urges with the salad and you naughty urges with the pizza. My Mini Mia started with the Sonoma salad. It has red leaf and spinach with grapes, raisins, apples, goat cheese, chopped glazed pecans, and is dressed with a Blood Orange Vinaigrette. This is one salad I would snake crawl naked over broken glass to eat. It is the second best salad I have ever had. The first best cost way more money and was in Port Jefferson on Long Island, New York in 1998. Forgive me, my epicurean memories took over. I'm back now. To finish off my Mini Mia I had the Salsiccia con Mela which is Italian sausage with apples and crushed glazed pecans. People these are no ordinary pizzas. The crust was thin and crunchy, the toppings delicious and it was just the right size to fill me up but not too full. The first time I had this pizza I thought I wouldn't care for it because it had apples on it but it is really good. It is so good in fact I very seldom choose another. As a member of the Spin! Club I enjoyed the delight of receiving my first (of what will be many) free gelato for having visited Spin! Pizza eight times. I didn't even know that was one of the rewards. I was just shooting for my discount! They even located me in the restaurant to give it to me. Though the name is Spin! Pizza it really should be Spin! Pizza and Salads. Their salads are delicious with unusual pairings that will wake up your taste buds. As I say at work when I talk to people about Spin! Pizza: "they had me at the salad". The service was attentive but not obtrusive and everyone was friendly and polite. The food was served with just the right amount of time between the salad and pizza. It wasn't rushed nor were we left waiting. Our meal for two with two beverages was just under thirty bucks including tip! The next time you think pizza is in order you should definitely try Spin! Pizza. The combinations and flavor profiles are unique in Kansas City. They are perfectly priced, the quality far exceeds the price point and you, my friends, will not be disappointed. Oh and by the way, the also sell wine and various other alcoholic beverages if you are so inclined. They sponsor bike rides on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Positives - Selection - a wide variety of toppings, options, gluten free and dairy free accommodations (the reason we went there), and drinks. Food quality - the food was perfectly cooked and adequately portioned for the quality. The flavor combinations were well thought out and executed. The gluten free crust was thin, but very flavorful and crispy. It definitely didn't have the cheap cardboard feel of most other gluten free options I've had at other restaurants. The wine I had was well described and worth the money. General ambiance - I found the restaurant enjoyable. The design was relaxed without losing the feeling of being slightly more upscale than average lunch fare. Seating options were open without feeling too exposed and incredibly comfortable. I also loved the booth design - it was good for corralling my feisty two year old. Negatives - Communication - the big one. We were required to pre-authorize the charge for our meal up front, but were told it was easy to add on dessert. What we were not told when we did add on dessert was that they would temporarily put through both charges, with the first being refunded in a few days. It took checking our statements the following day to discover this - no one made mention of it. Since we all pooled money and put it on one card, that meant an extra $70 temporarily removed from my account. Just as a forewarning - pay for extras separately unless you feel like letting them play with your money for a few days. Salads - were overdressed. I normally like a lot of vinaigrette but this weighed down some perfectly good salad greens to the point of being slimy and feeling wilted. If it wasn't so darn delicious I would probably have sent it back. Service- our waiter had to be flagged down with the exception of one drink refill. Despite asking politely whether we should order dessert at the counter or table and being told we could order at the table, the waiter was very rude about having to deliver our order. A double request for a box was never delivered on, albeit the waitress in a busier area had time to get us one immediately. Acoustics - are not great. It's halfway between a Chipotle and an Olive Garden. It's not bad if there aren't many people around, but when it gets a little busy it becomes a bit much. All in all - I'd love to stubbornly declare I will never go back. The charge on the credit card alone put a sour taste in my mouth for a first impression. The food is so darn delicious though I will probably return sooner than later. Hopefully being wiser will make the second go around a better experience. read more

A group of 5 ladies come to Spin pizza each month to celebrate life. This is a great place. We bring our own wine which they open for a modest uncorking fee. We have ordered pizzas to share, salads to share, although currently we order the pizza Mia because we differ on our favorites. I love the pollo y pesto and pollo y chevre pizzas, and have tried the spinach, Greek and chopped BLT salads. One of the ladies raves about the paninis. The service is order at the counter but we sometimes can charm a waiter into taking the order for us. Tonight our waiter recognized us from last month and surprisingly did not make a run for it. He earned an extra dollar tip for knowing who sang American Pie. The wait staff is always fun. The gelato is bueno too. Tonight was the busiest it has been but generally we are able to find a table and cause a ruckus with no fuss. If you are a fast food pizza lover then you won't appreciate the hand tossed fresh ingredient pizzas. Love this place! read more

Knowing that I am about to eat at my favorite restaurant makes my mouth water. It is a Friday night and I have had a long week. I freshen up my make up and wait for my boyfriend to ring my doorbell. As I'm anxiously awaiting his arrival, I start to smell the overwhelming sweet aroma as the doors open to my favorite pizza place. I can't wait to look at the menu to see if I want to go with my normal order, or if I would like to switch it up a bit. I realize that I have gotten ready fifteen minutes early because I'm so excited for what is to come next. As we pull into the parking lot I observe the crowd on the patio, enjoying wine and laughing amongst each other. The smell of the wood fire immediately enters my nostrils and my boyfriend and I smile at each other knowing we are about to end the week right. We get out of the car and walk through the parking lot hand in hand; our strides are long, knowing what we are about to indulge in one of our favorite meals. He opens the door for me and my taste buds are overwhelmed at the smell of sweet marinara sauce, fresh wood fire baked dough and home made meatballs. We are greeted with warm smiles and get the chance to look over the menu as we wait in line. Realizing that we can't part with our traditional order, we proceed to the register. To start, he orders two drinks and the wood fire baked flat bread with the trio order of hummus to start with. Next, we order a large Caesar salad to split and a half Italian meatball, and half Margarita pizza to split. My boyfriend takes our ticket number and we head into the crowded restaurant to find our table. As we find the table that suits us best, and he pulls out my chair for me to take a seat. Families and children are chatting and enjoying their meals surround us. We start to discuss the day as the waiter drops off our drinks, flat bread and hummus trio. We dig in immediately. This is the type of meal where you say, "Yum!" or "Wow!" after every bite no matter how many times you have eaten there. The service is always wonderful and the food is consistent in its deliciousness. As we are finishing up the appetizer, the server comes back to our table bearing more gifts. He drops off the Caesar salad and it looks just as I was expecting. The croutons are home made and the dressing isn't creamy, but instead a vinaigrette. The chef appropriately distributes the dressing and he always seems to add the perfect amount of croutons. The top of the salad is sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and we cannot wait to enjoy. We get lost in conversation and before we know it the pizza is being delivered to our table. As the server sets it on the table and asks if we need anything else, the mozzarella cheese mixed with the marinara sauce over takes my taste buds. The crust is barely brown, and the basil is sprinkled across the top of the pizza with perfection. The presentation of the food tells us that the Chef enjoyed making it as much as we enjoy eating it. As I bite into my first bite, I am overwhelmed at the warmth and stringiness of the cheese. I feel a piece get caught on my chin, but that seems trivial at this point. The whole cherry tomatoes that top my half of the pizza are tender and prepared exactly as I wanted. With each bite I take I am reminded of why this restaurant happens to be our favorite date night venue. I reach to grab my second piece and notice that one of my boyfriend's meatballs has made it onto my pizza. I am so excited because Spin makes some of the best meatballs I have ever tasted. As we enjoy our pizza we listen to Frank Sinatra serenade us through the speakers of the restaurant. While our meal comes to an end, we begin to eye the "made daily" gelato bar. We excuse ourselves from the table and decide to split a serving of the pistachio flavor. After we sit back down at the table with our gelato in hand, we begin to enjoy its smooth and creamy texture. The light green color of the gelato makes it even tastier. It has finally come time to close our tab and thank the waiter for all of his wonderful assistance. Spin always has the best service, and every employee is happy to be there. They appear to enjoy their work, and they also seem to truly enjoy the company of their guests. From the moment you enter the restaurant until the moment you leave, you have that warm welcoming feeling. As we get up from the table and head for the door, I inhale until my lungs are full, capturing and delighting in the delicious smell. As we get into the car we find ourselves still talking about how good our meal was and how satisfied we are. We both look forward to the next date night at Spin. Looking forward to the best pizza, great company, wonderful service and a fun atmosphere. read more

Spin has a great selection of artisan pizzas along with other sandwich and salad selections. You won't be disappointed with the food or the casual environment. The sangrias have a nice kick. The gelato offers those with a sweet tooth a delicious end to an excellent meal. What makes Spin a truly spectacular restaurant is the staff. A few weeks ago we placed a carry out order. When arriving home we realized part of our order was missing. We didn't think much of it, mistakes are made. A short while later I received a call from a staff member from Spin who offered to drive the missing item to my house. I explained that was unnecessary. The staff member then took down my address and a few days later I received in the mail some Spin Bucks (coupons to be used as cash at Spin). I was floored. Not only does Spin make great food, but they employ great people. Thank you, Spin Pizza. You guys are awesome! read more

i was thrilled that Spin! opened a new restaurant at the Shops at Avignon 119th and Greenwood, its a really nice building just opened in June with patio, serves alcohol and has excellent parking, the pizzas are the same yummy ones as the 119th and Metcalf just a bit closer since i'm closer to Quivera. the new things i tried were greek salad and the gelato excellent! for you Yelpers closer to Quivera on the way to the Olathe 30 perfect place to stop in and eat. read more

I went here for dinner and I had gotten my food after a long wait, and after that two bites into my salad I discovered a hair in my salad.So then I was like,well, I'll just eat my pizza. Almost done with my first slice and I spotted either a hair or eyelash (I don't want to know which it is). I was not mad just very disgusted and disappointed in how the whole thing was handled. I will never go there again! it's very hard for me to complain, but this was the most unsatisfactory meal I've ever had in my life! I wish that I could rate this -5. This was our second visit here. While we appreciate very much the ability to order a Vegan Pizza, it could use some work. The pizzas are small and overpriced as they really aren't shareable. The wheat crust which we have tried twice is being over cooked to a burnt "Melba Toast." Pizza is about cheese and yummy crust and there is way too little of both. I was disappointed they took KC Bier Dunkel out as it is a favorite. One more try for us with maybe a white crust and "Extra" cheese next time. read more

A religious experience! Got a gift certificate to try this place and ooh la la had the Greek salad and tomato basil sauce along with rosemary flat-bread with hummus. Ok I'm sure many of you go for the pizza but I'm not big on pizza and I'm telling you that was the BEST Greek salad I've ever had and the rest was just as killer. read more

Consistently received embarrassingly poor service. The last 3 visits (yes, I gave them several chances to redeem themselves!) we were blatantly ignored while sitting at the bar. My husband and I had lunch here on Saturday, arriving at the busiest part of the lunch rush. Even though there were only three employees serving the customers (including one who was the hostess) the staff did an excellent job of meeting our needs. And all with a smile and fantastic attitude! The food was fantastic, as always, but the exceptional manner in which these three worked together to make our experience enjoyable was amazing. The food here is wonderful... If they get your order right. The people behind the desk and answering the phones pay zero attention. I have received the wrong order countless times. And they skimp on toppings. I have celiac disease and Cannot eat regular wheat based crust (or I will become ill) and I order gluten free crust every time. During one of my recent visits, I ordered as such, and was presented with original crust (not the first time it's happened) and had to send it back.. The last time I ordered, I ordered double tomatoes as well as other toppings and when I got home and looked at it, there were three or four tomatoes on the whole pizza. I would expect more for what I had paid. Although my experience with the waitstaff was nowhere near wonderful, I have kept coming back because it is a good place to get gluten free pizza (when they get your order right) and not get sick since they have a separate prep area and because the management always promptly corrected any errors and made the situations better. This last time I had an issue, I called asking for a manager, and the man on the phone said "We're very busy right now. He cannot talk to you. You'll have to call back in an hour." No, I will not call back in an hour and I will not be back. read more
