I don't live in the area but I was visiting my mom and we decided to give this place a try. OMG the Yuquita Balls - I've never had them before and I absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside and cheese on the inside. I would drive 40 minutes again just to eat them. We ordered a whole chicken with rice and vegetables. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and super juicy. I liked that they have more than one dipping sauce and that the portions were generous. I had orchata and my mom had passion fruit juice, both were really good. Service was good and people were friendly. The place is not too big, it has a cozy vibe to it. Our goto Peruvian chicken place. Been ordering here at least once a month since they've opened, mostly takeout. Chicken is excellent, tender, moist, juicy, etc. There have been a couple of times where the chicken was a tad salty but I'd just eat more of their excellent fried yuca with delicious dipping sauces to offset it. Ridiculous. So good. My first bite was the black beans. Hot, savory, great texture, and with just enough of something different to make them special. Next was the chicken fried rice. Almost exactly the same thing: hot, perfectly done, and unique.. Almost tasting roasted or something. I got a half chicken that came straight off the.. rotisserie? and was chopped in half right in front of me. Super juicy, hot, and seasoned just right. Finally, I tasted each of the three sauces, for a pleasant surprise. Each was very unique. The orange one was like a creamy hot sauce. The white one, I didn't love, but it was still interesting: like a light mayonaisey, lemony sauce. The green one smells and tastes like fresh cut grass at first then brings on big heat! Finally, the staff was warm and welcoming. Overall, this place is amazing. All that for about $10. I wish I lived near it. Try it. read more

Let me start this review by saying that I eat a lot of Peruvian Chicken. It's one of the healthiest options when I'm out and about, so I end up eating it a couple of times a week. This is by far the best spot I've found in the NoVa area. The chicken is always juicy, the rice is amazing, and the other sides are ten out of ten as well. I have never been disappointed with my meal here. You can also tell that the owners really care about your experience. Pretty much every time I'm in here, they personally ask me how my meal was at the end. You can't get that kind of attention to customer satisfaction just anywhere! The sauce was good, but the chunks of chicken, tomatoes & onion were far too large of chunks for my preference and therefore doesn't incorporate the sauce fully. This place is the best Peruvian place in northern Virginia. The chicken is moist and full of flavor, the sides are generous and they have a great verity. The lomo saltado and the carne asada are simply amazing. The place is clean and has a cool urban decor, something you don't see around here in Peruvian chicken joints. Stopped by 2 times last month, first we tried the chicken which tasted like it have been sitting there for a while, dry, small and cold chicken. Side orders are small as well.( it was @ 8pm) Second time try ordered "salchipapas spin pollo" meat tasteless, fry potatoes too extra crispy and oily. And they chargr 0.25© for any extra sauce. I am no authority on Peruvian cuisine, but of the Peruvian restaurants I have tried in the past, Spin is the best. As a matter of fact, the meal my husband & I enjoyed there last night, is the best meal I have had since we moved to the DMV in July of '17. I'll apologise in advance, as I have a tendency to go on and on when I have a top notch experience. First impression, the place was immaculate at 8:30 on a Saturday night. The owner was chatting to some guests and greeted us as soon as we walked in. We asked how it worked- simple, if you want chicken, they chop your choice (husband likes white meat) and you choose 2 sides. I wanted the lomo saltado. I asked if it was cooked to order (it was, indeed) and can I get medium rare? He said, of course you can!!!! Could I have yucca instead of fries? Absolutely. Everyone was friendly and professional. The portions were fantastic. Both the chicken and steak were tender, juicy, flavorful and not overly salted. Rice is not a favorite of mine, but even it had a magical smokey flavor, aaaaand the juice from my lomo had flowed underneath it and soaked into the rice. OMG. so good. Both the owners and one of the line guys asked if we enjoyed our meal; having worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years, you know when people are genuinely invested in your dining experience. I had almost given up on dining out in Virginia, but Spin renewed hope for the future. ;) The only suggestion I would provide is for the horchata and beverage selection. I am an horchata snob and it was not quite to my liking (not made in house?). Also, throw some more unique sodas / juices in the cooler! A beer would've been nice too! However, PEOPLE- don't let something as silly as beverages deter you. I will be lobbying for a "frequent flyer" program at Spin Pollo as it will now be in our regular rotation. The sides were done well, albeit small. However, the chicken was too burnt and lacked the authentic Peruvian flavor. This has become my favorite Peruvian chicken place. Probably because they have a variety of side options not just your traditional yuca and fries, which are great by the way. My absolute favorite combination is 1/4 breast with rice and black beans--delicious! Their chicken is tender and juicy and not overly seasoned.
