Went to Spires today for lunch since Noemi was not working. Hugo was our waiter. The service was exceptional. He is a wonderful waiter. Came to the table promptly, is very personable, and returned multiple times to check if we needed anything. The food was amazing. Love the new burger selection. I had the one with bacon/avocado and my mom had the mushroom one. Now you can get a good burger at lots of places, but it's the people like Hugo, Libia, Sonny, Lori, and Genesis that will keep you coming back in spite of the few staff that are just intolerable. Last week I ordered from this place and it was a great meal the Burger was great the zucchini sticks are by far some of the best I've ever had however they're not consistent. Last week I had the San Francisco Burger I got 6 zucchini sticks. Tonight I ordered a steak and I only got 3 zucchini sticks. The steak was good but was a bit too fatty. The baked potato was perfect but then we come to the pie. I ordered the wild Berry pie because boysenberry is one of my favorites. Well it was disgusting the inside where the fruit was was like half boysenberry filling and 1/2 something like unblended tapioca or something it was grainy and gross the bottom of the pie was so soggy I couldn't even eat it. Usually Spires is consistent and the food and service are great. But today was very off. My omelette was runny, the potatoes tasted like nothing and our server had no personaliTy. Also we waited 40 minutes for the wrong table and nobody was happy with the experience. read more

My roommates and I are regulars at Spire's and we have had nothing but good things to say about the food and the service. The best part is they are open 24 hours a day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As far as diners that mostly cater to truckers and dinner special going folks, this place is pretty much top-notch! Blue collar grub house is exactly right. I used to complain to my parents when I was younger that I hated this place because it wasn't ~fancy with it's Norman Rockwell replica posters displayed throughout the restaurant and it's 70's fading evergreen now aqua colored decor. It wasn't till I realized that this Spires reminded me of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" (which is one of my favorite paintings) that I realized this blue collar local water hole will always be a part of me & where I come from. (Random-Nighthawks-Spires-what? Don't ask). Basically, I've been coming here since I was born. My parents & now I love it because it's really inexpensive and two they give you a shit load of food for what you're paying for. Not to mention that every employee at this place is really nice and most waitresses have that southern feel with the "well sugga what do you want" or "what can I get you honey." I'll say this- it's better than norms, dennys and very comparable to Canters in hollywood. (Which btw, is way over hyped-their breakfast was good but I was expecting ~amazing~). As far as their food, well you can count on them to have your typical American fatty meal. Yumm! (No sarcasm!) I recommend getting anything that involves ordering their fries and salad w/ ranch. Their ranch for some reason just tastes...better and their fries are nice big and crisp. Anyway this place is right off the 405, Exit WIlmington and it's open 24 hrs so who can complain about that? read more

I just love any place that serves breakfast all day. I ate dinner at about 7:30 8pm-ish and got the special $3.99 breakfast written on the window (2 pancakes, one sausage, and 2 eggs) but I substituted the 2 pancakes with one waffle. I think God made waffles to remind me of the meaning of life; and he invented Spires so that truck drivers can fall in love again. The service is good and if you like that diner feel, old school Coke artwork, booths and curtins that havn't changed since the 1950's then eat here. And if you ever want a late night snack before bedtime, order the Blueberry pie a la mode (with ice cream), it hits the spot like there's no tomorrow. read more

Not a fancy or white collar place to eat but more of a industrial, blue collar grub house. With the refinery nearby, most customers are employees and are just there to get their grub on with no frills. Place is still 70's decor and service is done with waitresses that have been there for the ages. I ordered a denver omelet and it was ok, but rather small, in comparison to other places. My boyfriend and i love going to spiers.we decided to come to this one becuse it was closer to my house.... Service was terrible! While our order was fast the food was just okay. My waffle tasted as of it was sitting there for hours and then had been reheated it was pretty much falling apart. I like to put jelly on my waffle so i asked for jelly . they only gave me one and didnt even ask if i wanted any flavor in particular. I had to get up and flag someone down becuse the waitress wasnt anywhere to be seen. My boyfriend finished his soda with in 15 mins of us being there not once was he asked if he would like a refill. It wasnt until we had asked for the check that they asked him. We will definitely be driving those extra miles and NEVER coming back to this one. read more

Food was ok. Nothing more than you'd get at a Denny's. I called before I went there since it was a busy morning and had to mix breakfast and business. After seeing online they had wifi I called to verify. They said On the phone that they did. I was seated by a overly loud tow truck driver who was annoying and constantly talked about how he can make the most money off his tow clients. I had a breakfast special eggs bacon toast and hash browns. All cooked good but nothing special. It was around $7. Then I tried to get busy on work... I tried over a dozen times to connect to their wifi connection then ran a diagnostic. There was a problem w/ their modem and the waitress said sorry and thanks for letting her know. Then walked away. Big help, not. So now I'm off to some coffee shop to spend $5 on cup of coffee but at least I know I can get a connection. The whole experience ruined this place for me. I won't be back. read more

Well, I would love to give this place a four or five star not because its that good but because of all the memories I had here with my grandparents and my mom. So Instead rating memories I'll tell you about the food and service instead, lol. The food isn't bad but it isn't your run of the mill kind of denny's place a lot of the stuff here is made to look like its homemade lol ( I want to say everything is homemade but can't 100% believe that). Although I do like there clam chowder and there steak and shrimp. There soups are pretty good and other things are ok just decent not bad but decent. The service well it isn't how it use to be back in the day, this place has changed over the many years its been here. I just keep coming back because of the feelings I get when I come back. So if you'd like come check it out, im not making any guarantee's you'd like it but hey give it a shot. OH and I forgot to mention probably the best place to eat at after 11pm, this place is 24 hours, a truck stop diner for all those truckers going by. read more
