Tray table is tiny you can see the the crave out for the back of the seat and PHONE WILL DIE FOR LONG TRIPS! because no chargers.

These seats are 90 degree angles no padding no chargers extremely late missed our next flight

I messed around and missed the deadline for flights . I booked Southwest Spring Break 2023, and the flight was canceled. This put a damper on the vacation. We ended up driving 9 hours from New Orleans to Orlando . I booked paid for flights luggage and seats. I didn't know luggage weight was 40 pounds. But the ticket counter agent understood and assisted us with removing and rearranging . Who did that reason? seats are thin , and the tray table is the size of a book. And nothing is given they charge for everything. So, of course, our luggage was over. I removed items. Hopefully, I'm not charged for additional carry ons. I have another flight with them to Columbia, booked by someone else . Now mentally stressed about how to pack a backpack . Look, I know a lot of people love Spirit, which is fine , but I can't, but I'm going to have to endure another flight with them returning and Columbia. Also currently waiting flight delayed. 2 stars ticket agent was pleasant even after we stood in line , while he carried on a personal conversation with co workers, and decided to look up and say next .

    No net, just rubber bands.

Flying Spirit is the equivalent of driving a Yugo. It might work, but more often than not you'll be delayed due to mechanical failures. Spirit offers a cheap "tin can in the sky" experience. They get you with a bargain fare, but then charge for carry-ons as well as checked bags. They charge you to pick your seat. There's no free drinks, either. No biggie, I can deal with no frills, but they really are awful. The seat backs don't have met pouches for the safety cards, they have a crisscrossed rubber band. No monitors, no wifi. It feels weird. We're sitting here tonight in the new Louis Armstrong airport in New Orleans watching them cancel flight after flight due to mechanical problems. The flight to Austin, Texas is canceled and the flight to Newark, NJ is 2 hours late because the plane isn't here. The flight was from LAX to Houston, then here, and there's been no explanation for the delay. Weather? Mechanical? Marauding kittens? Who knows. Next time I'll spend a little more and take United or JetBlue. At least I'll be guaranteed to get home. Try to avoid this airline unless you're really are broke.

Orlando- Daytona vacation 2022 This is only airlines that charges for what's free, 2 carry- on bags. Pay before you get to the airport, it's cheaper. We paid $45 for each bag online. The fees change, and they expect people to have a credit card at the boarding gate. Return flight / The carry-on bag fee increased for same two bag, $65 each. We found an office max and shipped our dirty cloths and souvenirs. We traveled w one carry on each, the kind that fits under the seat. They will send lot of e-mails to get you to PAY for your seat, so called upgrades. No upgrade, the seats are hard and do not come w front pockets. I used them due to the daily delays and cancels all summer 2022. We didn't want to get stuck in ALT etc. They have non-stop flights to Orlando from NOLA and are cheap. I hope this info helps. Upside/ We moved about w more ease in the Orlando airport w one carry- on each. We had a nice trip for under $600 (Ticker price w/o $90bag fees) With the savings, we got an ocean view hotel in Daytona.

Ok, I have flown a sh*t ton these last 10 years or so and here is my take on Spirit Airlines. Yes the seats are not comfortable. lol They don't even upholster the backsides. This is a bare bones airline. Your fare pays for a seat on the plane. Anything else, and I do mean ANYTHING else, will cost you. That being said, all the people going off about hidden fees are flipping insane. They have a website (https://www.spirit.com/) where everything seems pretty clearly stated to me. It is not Spirit's fault that YOU did not do your research and ended up paying the inflated bag fees. Everything is right there in print. When I see that they are less than half the price of the second cheapest competitor the first thing I ask is... why?? If it's that cheap then there is always a catch. lol Spirit is only good, IMO, for shorter trips where you only need limited luggage. I would say less than 4 hours tops and 2 to 3 days max. Otherwise just don't even try it. So it can be useful. Example: My most recent round trip (both direct flights) to MSY (New Orleans) from (LAS) Las Vegas. 2nd closest competitor: $378 Spirit price: $151 We each took a backpack for a short 2 day trip. This qualifies as your 1 gloriously free "personal item". (Max dimensions 8" X 18" X 14" and less than 40 pounds). Had what we needed for the 2 days and it didn't cost us an additional red cent. Want to get some souvenirs? Mail them to yourself. I do it all the time. lol I know I was fortunate this go round with Spirit because both of our flights were on time, if a little shaky at end of both flights. Flight Attendants were a bit cold and seemed generally unhappy, but I was never treated rudely. When you think of the money you are saving (which is why you're reading this) and you go in knowing the rules, Spirit can be a decent option sometimes. They're still better than United. I can't stand United. United blows. I would rather be strapped to a lawn chair onto the wing of a Spirit plane, than fly United Airlines again. Ok, rant over. As for Spirit, I would honestly say 3 stars in the right situation. lol 3 stars.

The affordable price is what lured me into flying with Spirit Airlines. I am always trying to travel on a budget because there is always something that resorts in me spending over my intended limit whether it be on food, or on travel to-and-from the airport. Spirit sends out excessive emails for upgrades whether it be for seat or baggage. As annoying as it is, I recommend not ignoring them because of the possibility of a gate change or even flight. I say this because the day of my flight, I received an email stating that my flight has been pushed back another day which resulted in extended stay planning. On one hand, it did not bother me because the previous flight was longer and had a layover in Houston Texas which I did not care for. However, on the other hand, the updated flight was a straight flight from New Orleans to Chicago, Illinois, but it put me in a situation because I had to work the day of the flight. The flight was so close near the start of my work shift that I nearly called off, but best believe I informed my job about the possibility of me being late. Who wants to immediately go to work after flying in from a short getaway from work. Yuck! Certainly not me! I ended up checking in with the Spirit Airlines application which I downloaded on my phone prior to my initial flight to New Orleans. I recommend downloading it because it is convenient, plus it will give you a gauge of the nickel and dime fees Spirit has. I feel as though flying with Spirit you have to be prepared because anything confusing will result in you paying an unnecessary fee which I paid none of. The only fee I paid was the price I paid for my flight which ended up being pushed back. After checking in through the application, I did not have a seat which could have been because my flight had been canceled. I ended up having to see an agent in order to get a seat which ended up going better than expected. I kept thinking I would get charged, but there were no charges. The seat ended up being a preferred one: a window seat within seats away from the exit door rather than near the rear of the plane. This gate did not feel like a cluster in comparison to the one at O'Hare International Airport during my in-bound flight to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport MSY. Things appeared to be ran smoothly, seemingly down to the last minute to board the plane, but all went well. The seat was uncomfortable as expected, and the leg space was a tad bit smaller than other airlines I have dealt with. I never care for extra leg space as long as I can fit my military style backpack underneath the seat in front of me which fit fine on this flight. I slept through the majority of this flight because the one thing I always pack with me is melatonin. I lucked up and received a window seat which gave me something to lean my head on to sleep. Flying with this airline I recommend carrying a neck pillow which will allow your neck to rest on something if you are not blessed with that window seat as I was. Since I slept the majority of the flight, I had no communication with the flight attendants other than the boarding flight hello, and post plane departure goodbye; they did appear very genuine though. This was an uncomfortable experience. Flying with Spirit again I would be very cautious because of this last-minute cancellation. Now if I did not have any commitments to attend to, I would be open to flying with Spirit Airlines because pricing is affordable plus I now know how to navigate around the nickel and dime fees. ~Blessings~   Thomas G

Soooooo this is my SECOND go round & it wasn't any better. First flight: Thanksgiving 2016 Second Flight: June 2017 This will be a combination of the two... Here are the deets: Pros: Cheap flights, good snacks FOR SALE, good advisement of changes in flight status, vibrantly colored planes, pamphlets & brochures, a light mist blows from the vents above as to prevent the drying effect as experienced on other carriers. Cons: locking of the restrooms (who does that), cramped seats, snacks & drinks FOR SALE, a la carte EVERYTHING, super tight aisles, reduction in the size of the carry on, charge you to print tickets at the airport (huh???), cash only for in-flight beverages & snacks. I will admit the drinks, comparable in nature to other airlines, were on point & not the most pricey. I was afraid to breathe as they might've tried to charge me for air. Is air still free? All in all, I would not fly again even if it was last minute. I feel awfully bad for passengers that are taller than 5;7" as the legroom is seriously lacking. Paying for seats doesn't guarantee you more comfy seats, seemingly the seats after a certain point are all about the same. Knowing what to expect prior to departure will be beneficial.

Unhappy passengers and a crooked Spirit Airlines.

Worst airline EVER !!…read more Me and 3 others were supposed to fly out of New Orleans march 16th at 5:10am .. We got there at 2am ... they didn't open their ticket counter / baggage counter till 3:45am Not only that but they admitted they were short staffed and had all 5 lines converge into a single line in the middle which made it take 3x longer to get our bags dropped and get to TSA . Also I had pre requested wheel chair help because I was injured and couldn't walk at the time . The clerk at the counter told me . And this is an exact quote " sorry where short staffed today , we have too many call out s , your gonna have to deal with it your self " which they legally have to provide wheel chair assistance .. Well long story short we didn't get to the ticket counter because of their short staffing till right before 5am ... then through tsa and the flight had already taken off .. Their best option was to rebook us on another flight. The next day in the afternoon and we wouldn't arrive till almost midnight ... over 32 hours AFTER we were supposed to already be there ... this would leave just 1 full day for our small vacation so we said no thank you .. give us our refund because that is not acceptable .. But it was their short staffing that caused this issue in the first place . So I emailed them and requested they cover the cost of our non refundable Airbnb because this was caused by what the even consider Controllable issues . They could have atleast offered what they give to those who need to be bumped to another flight considering this was their fault . Which is $2150 per person . But they basically told us to deal with it and accept that they ain't doing jack sh*t for us , they are the absolute worst Not to mention the wheelchair assistance issue . My suggestion is to NEVER fly Southwest Airlines,.. they are terrible and have garbage customer service !!!!
