Liver and onions worth traveling for!

Best place for Liver & Onions! Went on a Saturday so there were no mashed potatoes or veggies, but I was very content with the potato soup. Everything was excellent including the lemon meringue pie! the staff is always polite, welcoming, friendly and helpful. The new owner Donna is gracious and kind. I highly recommend this place. I come from out of town to eat here as often as I can. My sisters and I love it!

This place is... weird. I've never eaten anywhere with such a complete and utter absence of atmosphere/ambience. We sat in the dining room, and were the youngest people there by about twenty years. It was pretty busy for 6.30 on a Friday but there were absolutely no young people/families at all, just a roomful of Seniors quietly muttering into their food, and shuffling around. There were no tvs, just a terrible 80s soundtrack featuring, among others, Elton John, the Beach Boys, Crowded House, The Bangles etc. This was punctuated by the loud and obtrusive "DING DING DING!!" of the bell in the kitchen when orders were ready. I can't really explain it, but it was all so so strange. And the decor was beyond boring. Anyway, the food. They serve really nice pita bread but there are no complementary dips/spreads. My Greek salad was big, fresh and filling, and the dressing was nicely tart and tangy. His chicken lemon soup was decent - nice big chunks of dark and white meat, subtle lemony flavor, but the orzo thingies were really mushy. The entrees were disappointing. The meat in my gyro was bland and not authentically Greek in any way. The fries were from a bag. The coleslaw was so thin and watery it was like it had been pureed. He ordered the Greek Style Grouper with a side of green beans. The fish was decent but VERY greasy, and for $17 it should have been plated much more attractively. It was seriously below average. And to add insult to injury, it was $35 after tip and tax!! Imo, save your moneys, and go to the Big Fat Greek down the road.

First timer here! I heard rumors that the aged frequent, but also that the food is a cozy mix of Greek and American home-cooking. Both were proven to be true. Fortunately though, the restaurant is split in two: a cafeteria-like side and the florescent lit bar/restaurant side. The later is where my friend an I choose to sit...obviously. Spiro's is interesting. There are a handful of tv's broadcasting the popular sporting event of the night, but there was no music. I'm grateful that my conversation was pretty in depth. I would not recommend Spiro's for a first date. Kate was our server on Thursday night. She's actually a friend of mine, but I'm not going to complement her for that reason. But she is very attentive and detailed with her specials and menu descriptions. Good at recommendations too! I've read the the hummus is the best in the city, sorry, but I disagree. It was good, yes, but not the best. It's a roasted red pepper hummus, which makes it unique to other Greek restaurants, but I will always rank Jimmy's V's #1 in my book.

The Rail in Grandview Heights is one of the offerings for restaurants that have popped up since the development of Grandview Crossing. It is a welcome addition to the area and offers dining. That is a step up from simple casual or fast food. It has been my experience at this location. Reservations are not a necessity. However, I always recommend calling for reservations or making them online. A table reservation simply leaves less to chance. The staff are friendly and helpful and accommodating customer needs. All of my experiences here have been pleasant and high-quality.

My hubby ordered the Bootlegger burger with the BBQ sauce on the side, and I ordered the Bonfire burger; we also ordered pretzel bites as an appetizer. I used Toast to order and was given a 15 to 20 minute wait time. Once we pulled into the lot for the restaurant we saw that they had designated spots for takeout, so we pulled in. It isn't 100% clear on their sign if you need to call them when you arrive; there is a number listed on the sign but that's it. So I called them to let them know we had arrived and the young lady ran our food out to us. It was smooth and seamless and we headed home. All of the food was hot and delicious! Nobody can make a burger like The Rail!! They are a little pricey; with tip, it cost $57.00. But you get what you pay for! We will definitely order takeout from them again soon. Next time I think we will just run in and snag our order since they have a convenient side door marked "carryout" separate from the entrance. Super convenient!!

We were looking for a few drinks and simple snacks, and this seemed to be a great option for it. The place was fairly empty, so we were a little surprised that we were led not to a table in the front (cooler, nicely lit) room, but to a booth in the other back half of the restaurant, past an arcade section-- a booth with sticky seats, a seemingly broken tv (with a perpetual "ARE YOU STILL WATCHING?" message on it, though nothing was playing-- just turn it off?), and seemingly no access to the AC (even our server commented on how this part of the restaurant was too hot compared to others). We ordered the margaritas that were half off due to a Tuesday special (though mine was still $9 when the bill came-- what I ordered certainly would not have been worth $18!). We also ordered a three dip and chip dish to share. The dips we chose were guacamole, queso, and a pineapple pico de gallo. We were kind of shocked when the dips came out: the queso was half melted and half not (shreds of unmelted cheese covered the top half of the bowl) and the salsa was seemingly water with a few chunks of pineapple and tomato floating at the top. My whole table was shocked by the look of the salsa and that it had even left the kitchen. When the server came back over, we asked her if the salsa was supposed to look like that (when you dipped your chip in, nothing but a wet chip came out, as if dipping in a bowl of water). She noted: "Not really, it was probably from the bottom of the pan." (My thought: if you know the salsa is not supposed to look like that and it's the drugs of a pan, please don't serve it.) She asked if we wanted her to try to get us fresh salsa, and she returned with a very different looking, better bowl-- but it was odd we had to ask. The chips were not flavorful and seemed stale-- they were also huge and had to be broken up to dip them. Food, service, ambiance-- I found it all the be extremely lacking. With the wealth of good similar restaurants in Columbus, I'd never return here.
