I took my Sienna in yesterday for service. When I arrived in the service bay, the guy motioning me in was not wearing a mask. I asked him about it. He said management said it was optional. When I got to the check-in agent, she was wearing a mask. I sat in the waiting room where chairs were spaced out. I looked around the waiting area, and EVERY CUSTOMER during the 2.5 hours I was there was wearing a mask. I would say that less than 20% of Spitzer employees were wearing masks, and none were practicing social distancing. I saw no sanitizing going on in the waiting area or anywhere else within my view. I asked the check-in agent to relay to the management my statement that if they had no more concern for my safety as a customer-- or for their own employees--then they certainly do not need my business. While I was waiting I called some other local Toyota dealers and found that some others DO REQUIRE THEIR EMPLOYEES TO WEAR MASKS. They will get all my business in the future. I had an awful experience today Tuesday February 2nd at Spitzer Toyota. I waited forever for service. Then I was told that the warranty didn't even cover the issue I had. When I purchased the car last year and purchased the warranty, according to the sales rep and the guy who sold the warranty, it covered sensors and everything. Fast forward to this year, according to James, the warranty does t cover the sensor. Last time when I was at the dealer, Albert assured me he would order the tire sensors for me. I am still waiting on Albert's call Back about the tire sensor. Then Matt who sold the car never picks up the phone. Courtney has an attitude and yells at you when you won't let her pass the buck. James will charge you twice and then keep promising to call you back. They are a group of lazy liars who will not help you and make you the problem. In the last 6 months, I have purchased 3 new Toyota vehicles (2 Tacomas and 1 4Runner). I had an excellent experience at Toyota of South Hills, Taylor and Boardman. My experience at Spitzer was simply unpleasant. I was surprised by how many of the old car salesman tricks they pulled out. For example, on my first visit they tried to convince me that the document "fee" was state mandated and recently doubled. A simple Google search will show this to be false (the state law is actually to protect consumers from unreasonable fees). I found the sales manager to be arrogant and argumentative. He was even difficult with the sales representative. I provided them with what I thought was a reasonable deal for the new vehicle and my trade. The manager spent several minutes arguing about why it was a bad deal. I left, went to South Hills Toyota, and got that exact deal on the exact vehicle. read more

Terrible service! I purchased my car at Spitzer - I can tell you that after my experience I wouldn't do business with them again. I brought my car in for a new serpentine belt and to get recall work done. I dropped it off after hours. When I went to pick it up the charge was almost 100 dollars more than the original estimate and no one had called me to approve those charges. In addition, the mechanic had marked some issues that they needed to discuss with me on the inspection form. But the form itself was a duplicate which obscured the writing and no one was available to explain to me why I was overcharged and not contacted to give approval. On top of that my car was returned dirty. One of the selling points of bringing your Toyota to the dealer is that it is washed and cleaned on every service - I guess they forgot this time. While all of this was bad enough, I tried several times to contact the dealer about the overcharge and for an explanation of the issues the mechanic had noted. No one has responded to these attempts but they have used them as an excuse to try and get me to purchase a new car from them. Spitzer is very willing to make an effort to contact you when you might be spending money, but when you have problem they could care less. read more

My husband and I bought our Prius from Spitzer and initially had a good experience. We are relocating out of state and wanted to sell our Honda prior to our move. On the 10th we had an appointment to have our Honda looked at. We were told that Spitzer would pay $1,675 for our car. We returned a week later and were first told that they didn't want to purchase the car at all and then offered $,1000. When we inquired why the car decreased in value by $675 in one week, the used car sales manager stormed over, told us "I don't want to do business with you" and asked us to leave. If they didn't want to buy our car in the first place, that was fine, but they should have said that on the 10th and not offer us close to $700 less than they offered later. ******I wanted to update this review. Last week I leased a 2014 Scion which was more car than I expected to get. My salesmen really went the extra mile to help me out and work with me. I was very pleased. There was a little paint damage when I leased the car, and they were quick to schedule to get it fixed. The only issue in getting my car inf or the work, was with the rental, which wasn't Spitzer's fault. My car was dropped off Thursday and I'll be picking it up Saturday, so I am pleased with the time frame which was well within what they said. I don't know how they'll do in the future, but at the moment I am very impressed. read more

I recently purchased a new car spending excess of $40,000, i opted to have a couple after market features added. My service experience was terrible. Firstly they had my vehicle for an entire day and never started working on it only to notify me they didn't have the parts. Fast forward to when the parts came in months later I did receive a discount due to the prior incident. I had a remote start installed. Both of my seats were pushed back and almost laying in the backseat, steering wheel was moved and the entire inside of the vehicle was left with a line of dust including the mud left over from the techs shoes. The remote start worked very poorly and I had to stand within ten feet of the car to get it to work. I took it back in and was informed it wasn't put in correctly and that it was missing clips that held the wires together. The vehicle again was a complete mess both seats moved mud and salt residue on the floor. Fast forward another week the remote start stops working completely and i discover the hood release cable is broken. I contact Spitzer and they took two weeks to get back to me giving me the attitude that i'm a big problem for them. During this time I took the car to Car Nutz and had the remote start looked at. According to them the remote start was hooked up incorrectly and the hood release was broken. They pulled the remote start and reconnected a new one i purchased from them and fixed the broken hood release. I contact Spitzer asking for a refund for poor installation, terrible experience, and wasting so much of my time. I only requested a refund for the remote start not including any of the service I paid to Car Nutz including fixing the hood release. Per the associate "Due to having past issues with me there is nothing they are willing to do" I requested to speak with the general manager and was informed the management staff made this decision. I informed them I would go out of my way if they will not reconcile the situation and they will lose the business of someone who buys new cars frequently. I was informed they will pass the message along and have someone call me it's been a week with no response. Repeat business is obviously not something they are concerned with. read more

1 star is generous. They came out and told me the prices that I'd be paying for parts, including light bulbs and rear rotors, totaling $360. I had assumed that the rate for labor would be reasonable since I was there for less than an hour. It only took them about a half hour to replace the parts. I was charged over $300 for labor. As the cashier explained it, they charge a flat fee for each job: $105 for the rotors, around $105 for the inspection and $105 for them to change some LIGHT BULBS. They weren't changing the high beams or anything; it was just a parking light and the two license plate lights. I feel pretty confident I could have figured those out myself. I had assumed that it would be a reasonable rate and that the lightbulbs wouldn't take more than a few minutes, so I let them do it. In the end I was hit with over $650. Next time I will take it to a smaller, more local mechanic. DON'T GO HERE. read more

I bought a used 2012 4runner from them 2 weeks ago. Both front door lock actuators don't work and supposedly were not caught on their rigorous inspection and I didn't realize they were broken until after I bought it and took it home. Now they want me to pay to get it fixed and I don't feel that I should have to pay to fix something that should have been fixed before I bought it. I will not bring my vehicle to them for service ever again. Overall I really like the vehicle and had a good sales experience but the service end has disappointed me. read more

I never write reviews however Spitzer reached the level where I need to warn other potential customers. I can tolerate a few mishaps but they reached new high with my (very) last visit; disregarded my coupons and discounts when billed although I gave them to the intake person initially, changed my oil and charged me for it when asked not to, twice, (lost $30 of specialty oil), left clips off fender guards then charged me to put them back on, and lost my registration during inspection. Dealers are bad but this one is particularly bad. Find a good independent garage is my advice. read more

I am writing this post to notify any customer who has recieved a repair due to the excessive oil consumption recall. I have had a terrible experience with Spitzer since taking my car to the dealership for repairs due to this recall. Initially I was told at the time of the initial recall that the engine work done on the vehicle was going to cost me 400 dollars. I paid the money trusting that that would be the end of my engine problems. Five two months later I experienced tapping in the engine and took my vehicle back to the dealership and paid 2100 for additional repairs to my engine. All of the repair work was supposed to be warrented for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Again I experienced tapping in; the engine and returned the vehicle again afte two months. I advised the dealership I needed a loaner vehicle and they graciously lent me a 2017 Prius. My vehicle sat at the dealership for two months and I was finally told to come pick up my car. The dealership advised and provided an invoice for parts which were warranted. They advised this was a good will effort as I asked for a refund of the 2100 due to speaking with a mechanic who advised the repairs were due to the initial work done on the vehicle. After two months the same engine problem started again. I took my vehicle back to Spitzer and they told me I needed to pay 400 to do a diagnostic on the vehicle. I contacted Toyota and they contacted the dealership. Spitzer then advised me that they were going to do some tests on the vehicle and let me know the problem. The tests resulted in my paying an additional 1500 to rectify the situation. They advised Toyota would pastry for the parts if I paid the 1500. They claim the total job would cost approximately 10,000 dollars including the labor charges. What I am most disturbed about at this point is they loaned me a vehicle from their stock. Allegedly they were not able to contact me by either voicemail or e-mail so they contacted my insurance compny and told them that there had been an accident in their vehicle and they wanted to file a claim. When I asked them if they could provide me the details of the alleged accident they told me someone called claiming to be a friend and told them that they wanted to know what the procedure was for reporting an accident in one of their loaner cars. I have not recieved numerous calls requesting their vehicle be returned. I do not check my e-mail daily and was unaware of the e-mail sent to me. I was told to try to contact the district manager but when I called Spitzer, Mr. Robert Thomason got on the telephone and told me there was no district manager and I needed to call Toyota. I have an open case with Toyota and plan to contact them again as they are the one who told the dealership they would pay for the parts if I assumed responsibility for the labor. Our experience was the Spitzer Toyota dealer in Monroeville, PA (full name of dealer provided, to warn and keep others away) ... When we walked in, we said we had just 30 minutes to "look", and would have to leave as we had an appointment to meet. We chatted, then gave our car keys to do a tradein estimate. well 30ish minutes later, we're sitting at the table, and he wouldn't give us our keys back. HE (THE SALESMAN) THEN THREW HIS PENCIL ACROSS THE TABLE (it almost hit us), SAYING "OH I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN!" (well of course it would happen , we TOLD him we needed to leave in 30 minutes). That's when I decided to play "crazy woman"... I stood up and started screaming at him, in the showroom, in front of other customers and salespeople... making a fantastic scene, I must admit. That finally got the manager out (the salesman wouldn't go and get him, when we asked for the manager)... and we finally got our keys back and left. Never to return, Of course we got a couple calls afterwards from the manager begging for our business (he told us that that salesman was no longer working there). wtf ? read more

Spitzer will not get any of my future business!!!! My mother wants to upgrade her Camry and I want to get my daughter a reliable car to take to college this fall. We will not make those purchases from Spitzer. I scheduled a 9.15 appointment for an oil change. I arrived at 9.00 hoping maybe they could start early. The service advisor, JB, was courteous and professional. At 10.30 I had not heard anything about the progress of my oil change so I went to the service desk. Ms. JB says, "Oh, I have some paperwork here for you" Not sure when she planned to call me back. She then proceeds to try to upsale some services. I told her no thank you just the oil change. She says ok and she will let the mechanic know and she will be with me shortly. At 11.30, I am still waiting for my oil change to be completed. Finally, at 11.46, Ms. JB call me back. I notice on the receipt that it was generated at 10.57, almost an hour earlier. At 11.53, my credit card is swiped and my oil change experience at Spitzer is complete. I asked Ms. JB if I had not made an appointment, would it have taken this long. She says there are "short staffed" today. Who knows if they were truly understaff today. That information would have been helpful when I checked in. I gladly would have rescheduled, or gone somewhere else, for when they were more properly staffed. Why make an appointment if it is going to take 2 hours for an oil change? Very frustrated and disappointed with Spitzer. I really expected better service. read more

After I was hit and my previous Rav4 totaled, I decided to get a new Rav4. Spitzer had the best price. I did all of my shopping online. I let them know I was coming out one evening to test drive the one I liked - I didn't have an appointment and didn't give any indication that I was actually going to purchase. Erika was my internet contact and was great. She paired me up with a salesman, Fred, who was fantastic. The only downside was the car that I saw online had been sold just before I got there (they were cleaning it up when I arrived). Erika was very apologetic and went above and beyond to find me another Rav4 that was exactly like the one I had come in to purchase. Sure, I had to wait an extra day to get it, but it was worth waiting to get exactly what I wanted. The finance process went smoothly. I never felt pressure to purchase a vehicle - such a nice change for a dealership. I have yet to use their service department, but I hope that I am as satisifed with their service department as I am with their sales and finance departments. read more

First time I signed the papers and came home a day later she called me and said she had good news for me that they were going to give a $1,000 college student rebate so I needed to sign in all new papers. Stopped there and Jim the finance manager did my workpapers brought down my payment from $349 to $342 and then a few days later got a call from Kelly that she had a coupon for me so she wanted me to stop by so she could help me bring down my payment by about another $4. Went back she had me sign some papers. She did not give me copies of any papers and I was so stupid that I signed where ever she pointed did not look to see what I was signing and did not ask for copies. when I got my first statement my payment had gone up from $342 to $346.09. I called her and she told me she was going to look into it and call me back. After that I called her on numerous occasions she refused to come on the phone. I finally called Toyota Customer care they told me someone from Spitzer will get in touch with me never heard from spitzer or from Toyota.. Found a great deal on 2003 Jeep Liberty with only 19,000 miles! 20 Miles into my 1st drive as owner the oil pressure light comes on and all the oil leaked out and I had seriously thought the engine was blown by the sound of it. I call Spitzer who sends a tow truck immediately to my job to bring the Jeep in for service. Turns out that the oil filter was put on too tight and it cracked the washer and the oil leaked out. They did what was expected and towed it and fixed free of charge (Obviously, there was no way I would pay anyhow) They could not have been nicer and and more apologetic. They did what I expected with no questions asked and I'm happy to say this may have been the best customer service experience I have had in a long time. I took the Jeep to my own mechanic to have him look it over and make sure that is all it was and what they were telling me and he said it was and should have no long term affects.
