The bottom of my pool was never cleaned as he kept telling me that my pools robot was responsible for cleaning the bottom of my pool. I explained to him on many occasions that pool robots were not able to pick up whole pine cones. Gino also had a very hard time keeping the chemicals balanced in pool. The last month of service from Gino, he only came 3 times and yet charged me for 4 service calls. If you are looking for a reliable, fair and good pool service company---looks elsewhere. He showed up at about 9 am and spent some time looking over my oool and equipment. I have a very large pool of 44,000 gallons. He made a very reasonable priced plan and returned the following morning with his coworker (his son) to clean my oool and get it ready for use. He was super friendly and was coincidentally already servicing the house we were purchasing so he was familiar with the pool. The work he said needed to be done matched what our inspector suggested. Mike confirmed we needed a new pump and quoted the same price our inspector estimated. This shows his pricing was reasonable and upcharge was minimal. Mike also said we needed a new pool sweep (which we desperately did) and told me the least expensive place to get it. I purchased that and he installed it at no charge. Being a first time pool-owner I had many questions and Mike always responded to my texts and calls. He also helped find us a great company to install solar panels for our pool! A few weeks after we moved in we purchased a spa and are having Matthews Pool Service service that as well. One day our pool turned cloudy and I called Mike. When we moved in, our pool was in disrepair- it needed re-plastering, had a hole above the waterline rainwater was seeping through, and had derbris blowing in from the sprinkler. Pete informed me how these issue were impacting the pool system. I could tell it pained him to see my pool in its current state, but was also really respectful of the costs of these repairs in these challenging times. The pool was always perfect when Pete left, and as we made the fixes he recommended, it continued to stay perfect between visits. The appointment started out fine, but as soon as my husband and I let the owner know we are hands on and not uninformed pool owners that prefer to price shop replacement filters and have a home warranty that covers the equipment the appointment went negative. The owner, Peter, got pugnacious and said he needs full control over his pools and that pool owners don't know what they are doing or buying and he doesn't allow his customers to purchase their own filters and that he has enough customers and we should go with someone else. My husband and I were standing there shocked at his behavior and watched him storm out. The added insult to this interaction later came when we realized that when the owner stormed off he intentionally left our side gate wide open. Our dog got out and was wandering our front yard. Thankfully we have cameras and were alerted quickly. I do not typically write reviews, but the unprofessional manner in which this owner handled himself compelled me to write this review. Hopefully he reads this and learns something about being professional. I support small businesses and prefer to give my business to those in my community, but when the business presents themselves as one that is looking to take advantage of "naive" pool owners I agree with Peter we will go with someone else.
