We just checked in to the hotel and wanted to grab some lunch. This place had the smallest food options at the hotel that we could find, which was perfect since we didn't want to ruin our dinner reservations. You just sit down and a server comes over to you. We ate Splendido 3x during our stay at Portofino Bay. I ordered the fish tacos the first time and the beyond burger the next 2x. I also ordered the side salad with balsamic dressing. The fish tacos were just okay. It was definitely missing the sauce. Thats why my next visit I tried something else. The beyond burger was really good. I loved the avocado on it. The balsamic dressing for the salad was to die for. I could eat that all day, everyday. I thought the food was normal in price. The drinks were pricey but that didn't stop me. I loved that you could order and eat poolside. Everything came quickly and the staff were so friendly. Spending some time by the hotel's pool, my sister and I decided to grab some drinks and a basket of onion rings. She wasn't a fan of her skinny margarita since it was still too sweet but also very sour. I liked my virgin pina colada since it was well blended and creamy. We were happy with the onion rings since they were thick and crisp. I like it when there's an even portion of onion to batter ratio and especially if they're on the thicker side. Overall, we had a pleasant experience since our waiter was kind and checked in regularly. Unfortunately, the whole pool area including Splendido had to close due to an impending thunder storm so keep an eye out for the weather if you come here! read more

The fries were good because they were homemade and authentic. The service at the bar was very wonderful because the staff were very good and my meal came in a reasonable time. The ambiance of the bar was just a typical pool side bar. The bar was always very clean and nice. For the reasons I have stated in this review, I highly recommend and encourage you to visit this location at Lowes Portofino Hotel because of the good food and good service and good ambiance. It was very convenient to get casual dinner poolside after a day at Universal and while the kid is swimming. My club sandwich was huge and tasty. My husband's chili nachos were enormous - the chili wasn't for me... I would've tried chicken next time. The mai tai freeze, yummy! Appreciative for that on a hot day. It was potent. Ordered food and drinks from Splendido on Tuesday afternoon. Not worth going out of your way for, but a fine option when hanging out by the pool. Quality: Splendido is attached to the pool at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. If you are chilling by the water for a while, you are likely to grab something from this bar. I ended up with both a Frozen Pina Colada and a Frozen Mango Daiquiri. Two decent versions of the classic drinks that worked well on a warm day. I was less enthusiastic about the Chicken Splash Nachos we ordered. While the chopped bacon was a fun addition, I found the sour cream had a strange texture and the cheddar cheese sauce a poor substitute for queso or shredded cheese. I also wouldn't recommend the addition of chicken, it was cold and soggy. Quantity: Decent sized drinks, but unsurprisingly light on alcohol. The Chicken Splash Nachos are large and can easily be shared between two or three people. Value: $15 for a Frozen Pina Colada. $15 for a Frozen Mango Daiquiri. $20 for the Chicken Splash Nachos. Ambiance: Splendido is located in the pool area of Universal's Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. It is located in a small hut, just right of the entrance to the pool. They have a tiny bar and some tables surrounding it. However, they also circulate staff around the pool to take orders and deliver drinks wherever you are relaxing. Anywhere you sit you will get nice views of the well-designed pool area, but there are definitely better spots than the actual dining area. Crowd: The dining area was empty, and the pool was quiet on Tuesday afternoon. I imagine during summer months and on the weekends, it gets crazy. Service: Much better than I expected. They had two or three waiters constantly circling the pool to bring out food and drinks. Friendly and fast, they did an excellent job at keeping glasses full. We stayed at the Lowe's for 4 days. I couldn't have been more disappointed in my meal experience. The food menu wasn't very exciting- my colleague had the nacho's- which were lackluster at best. so I ordered the Splendido Box which looked decently appetizing. I ate the paella balls and jalapeño poppers - which were tasty. When I bit into the chicken sauté, I ate the first bite and had just put the second bite in my mouth and started contemplating the texture when I looked down and realized that it was completely RAW! I immediately spit it out and panicked. My colleague talked to the waitstaff who took the meal off and comped our bill a measly 15%. I threw up several times and haven't been able to hold food down. 15% was pathetic for what I've had to endure. read more

We sat down for a late lunch before dipping in the pool. Only took about 15 minutes to get food for five. Portion sizes are pretty big but flavors are just okay. I had the turkey club and the meat was a tad warm which made it smell funny. The kids loved their meals however the prices are insanely high. 2 adults and 3 kids with non-refillable sodas was over $100 which included an 18% tip that is automatically added to your bill regardless of service - which is non existent AFTER you get your food. We ordered a margarita pizza for my husband and I and fries for the kids to split. The pizza was quite good, the dough in particular was impressive. The fries were really good, our waiter was great. Convenient if you're staying at Portofino and looking for outside dining during these covid times. We stopped by for dinner after a day at the park. Nice view of the pool and "beach" area. Menu is now on a QR code. It was pricey for some not so great food. Our server was great, they add 18% gratuity so we added a little. He was quick with the refills and we didn't have to ask. Unfortunately, he could not make up for the food. Burger - requested medium, it was very well done. More like a frozen patty then fresh meat. Fries were not great, probably also pre frozen. My Buffalo chicken wrap had a tough tortilla and wilted lettuce. Ended up just eating the chicken out of it. Children's menu options one with choice of fries, fruit or salad. Kids pizza was rubbery, my child wouldn't eat it so had the fruit size for dinner. Other child had the ditalini Mac and cheese, looked ok and nice portion but she said it was just ok. With chips and salsa app and mozzarella sticks, total was $104. Wouldn't recommend unless you just don't want to leave the pool. read more
