This review is for the restaurant in the lodge, we didn't stay at the lodge: Went here over 4th of July weekend with the entire family, sisters and nephews to see the fireworks. Needed a place to eat and we were sort of a captured audience - didn't see any other places within walking distance. Having grown up going to the Poconos for vacation weekends for the last 30 years, I have come to lower my expectations. You just don't get as good food or service in the area as a large city. That said, I would like to add that in the last 10+ years the area has gotten much better, more options. I cannot recommend this restaurant. First, the place smells dank. I can only assume it is because there is carpet in the dinning area - why someone would put carpet in a restaurant is beyond me. It just gets wet and grungy over time, no way to clean it out. The service we awfully slow. We sat down, and we did get water and bread pretty much right away. However after that no server for 10-15 minutes. Had to ask twice for someone to come over. This is a very long wait, especially when you have little kids. The place was not yet super crowded either, this was early like 6pm, maybe it was 1/2 full. Our server was a nice kid, very friendly. He did a great job once he was "told" people were at his table. Our drinks (beer / wine) came out slowish too. Otherwise he did an excellent job and was tipped 20+ % So the how is the food? Not great. I'd give it more like 2.5 stars. Fries were cold and seemed to be sitting out, not fresh cut. My chicken sandwich was tiny and not very flavorful. Bun was soggy too. My sisters like their chicken quesdillas, but again I thought they were tiny and not much chicken. Cesar salad was decent. My kids Mac and Cheese was actually pretty good just needed salt. The view from the dinning area is beautiful though. If you want to come in for an amazing view, some beers and some bar food then you probably will be happy, so long as you can stand the mild dank smell. One last thing, the mens bathroom was absolutely filthy. Yes, it was a holiday weekend and the outside area was packed but still no excuse. They need to have a kid in there every hour cleaning it. With the right manager and some tweaks this place could really be solid but for now we won't be back. read more

This was a Saturday evening around 7 and we were a larger party with kids (11). Service was beyond slow, we waited an hour for appetizers. The salad bar had no plates when we went up and the soup was scraping the bottom of the the tureen. It took over 30 minutes to replenish the rolls, we actually asked out waiter if that was it for the night or if they were bringing out more. Our waiter was ok but seemed overwhelmed. Actually the whole staff seemed to be working hard just not sure if they were working smart. The food, when it finally arrived, was ok. One member of our party found a bit of plastic wrapper in her food. The server immediately took her meal and drink the bill and apologized. The bright spot was the bus person. Stayed at the resort for the weekend with my family. Our first waiter i don't remember her name. She was amazing super friendly and cheerful, she even offered us food that wasn't on the menu. The first night I had shrimp scampi it was very tasty, the second night I had steak with roasted potatoes. My potatoes wasn't cooked fully through. The waiter Candace wasn't a talkative as our first waiter. Staying here for the weekend they need a better variety of foods. read more

Service is slow food just OK..but is about the only food you're gonna find besides the hotels pizza shop.

The worst food I've ever had. Took an hour and a half to get a cheese burger and a soup. When I finally got my food my French fries were ice cold and the burger was extremely rare. My friends never got their food and finally had to get a refund for their order. They walked 5 feet and ordered from the deli and got food within 5 minutes. Would definitely not recommend going here, the bartender was rude and was not helpful at all. read more

My wife and I went for the Thursday night Prime Rib Special. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Although there was low attendance, because of the late September time period, the food was fresh and delightfully displayed. The young man who was in charge of the meat counter was very animated and polite. He certainly made up for the rather small number of people in attendance. My wife and I both found out that the food was tasteful and satisfying and well worth the cost. It was more like fried toenails, little 1/4 inch chicken toes they served me. My family's food took a long time to come out. The waitress was very polite and apologetic but food arrived one by one. Overall nothing special. Typical American bar food. Wings are good. The restaurant is clearly in line with the fast-food-loving crowd from NY that seems to make up the majority of the customers Our waiter Troy was great though. After what must have clearly been an exhausting, long, and busy day - Easter Saturday at 9pm - he was friendly, calm and efficient. Wow! Just got back from having the Thanksgiving Buffet. It was excellent!! I am a picky eater and everything was top notch as far as a buffet goes! I opted for the delicious hand carved roast beef with horseradish creme sauce, the pumpkin soup, apple candied walnut salad with mixed spring greens, sweet potatoes, green beans, and a slice of cheese cake. The traditional fare was available hand carved turkey, chickem noodle soup, and pumpkin pie as well as buttered corn, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, chocolate pudding, apple pie, and chocolate cake. There even also manicotti. We were kindly attended to by Mr. Alex and we had a lovely experience! We will be back and we highly recommened!!! read more

Absolutely horrible if I could give it negative stars, you had choice menus BARE minimum or buffet - well my kids did Buffett it took 30 minutes for the basic options in buffet to be refilled like chicken nuggets and corn . The refills far and few between where either cold or over cooked . Manager I guess lunch manager was less then professional when I returned to pay a 8.00 charge, she said consider it free I said no I don't want the employee who's been the only helpful staff member , to be short in drawer when she counts out . We have a timeshare at Split Rock Resort so we visit once a year. This year we were there over Valentine's Day and decided to attend the Split Rock Grille buffet dinner. What a disappointment! The salad was not fresh nor fresh tasting. The rolls were very hard. The prime rib was cold and extremely chewy. The ham was cold and the glaze on the carrots resembled a gravy consistency. Even the desserts were disappointing as you could tell they were definitely frozen. I can honestly say it was one of the worst meals I have had and for the price they charged I was not happy. Apparently the air conditioner wasn't working properly as it was extremely hot. Salad bar was dismal and dressings weren't cold which made me afraid to eat anything on it. Server was exceptional but obviously too many things were beyond her control. They have gluten free options which was nice but nothing worth coming back for. Anniversary get away at Split Rock decided to try this place so we wouldn't have to drive. We were literally the only people in the restaurant. Waiter was very friendly and food was ok. A little pricey (they know they can charge more for the convenience of not having to drive) that's why I gave three stars. read more

This restaurant was just OK. It could have been better. We got excellent and fast service but the food was bland and my chicken pot pie was lukewarm. Still, for the price we were not sorry we came in. The restaurant was practically deserted but the whole resort was very quiet after the President's Week rush. My main comment was the complete lack of ambiance. If the lighting was lowered and a candle was lit on each table it would go a long way towards making this look less like a cafeteria and more welcoming and cozy. read more
