Coworker introduced me to this bar because he knows I am a Ohio State Fan. So we have been coming to watch football almost every Sunday. Have to say the bar has a great ambiance inside. There are TVs everywhere and a huge flat screen towards the back. They also run great specials during football season and the staff is always friendly. My go to special are the beef sliders and chicken sliders with Bourbon sauce. The flavor is always amazing! I usually get the bloody Mary which is usually a hit or miss. My coworker always gets a pitcher or 5 of PBR that is only $2.75 I believe. Not my first choice for beer but you cant beat the price. They have other great menu options for $5 and other drink specials as well. I usually stick to the usual because I'm pretty basic and boring like that. Sporting Life is fantastic for a causal week night or to watch a sporting event or to get together with a group of friends! They have a great beer selection, their food is amazing, and the vibe is great. The bartenders are always attentive and accommodating! Food: I'm a buffalo chicken dip snob and it's GREAT here! I also LOVE their wings. They have REAL wings where the drum stick and bone are together on an actual wing. The breading is amazing, and their sauces are Asian glaze, mild, or hot! They also have deviled eggs which is a unique touch for .75c each. I had them the other day and I wasn't obsessed, they were just OK. They have different games such as darts and pool. They also have a pinball machine, what a throwback! The only downfall is that it is a bit Smokey in there but it's not unbearable. This place has a nice set-up with the darts. I saw some people (aka people I went to meet) showing up with their own dart kits. Talk about hardcore. Well, after all, it's called SPORTING LIFE bar, right? You better bring that pep and sport in you. Go big or go hooooome. Nice open space, and for a bar, this place has LEGIT food. A friend of mine was eating the gnocchi, and since the chef used to work at Bouchon, it looks EXACTLY like the Bouchon gnocchi's!!!!!!!!!!! What a winner, since that's my fave item at Bouchon. The brown butter sauce was a bit lacking, so more was ordered on the side. Nachos were decent. Not my absolute all time favorite, but I shall return to try more items in the future. I gotta be honest though, I kept calling this place, "Life Sporting Goods." The bar name just sorta confuses me. I thought it was a sister company of Sports Chalet. Service- 5 stars. Fun, local, neighborhood bar! Visited this bar a couple times usually at night with some friends to grab some drinks. Its fun and lively with trivia games, darts, drinks and some good night time eats its been a pretty great time each visit. Stopped in for lunch for the first time and it was a little different. Not as loud that's for sure and experienced a more chill time. Enjoyed a few appetizer plates. Bacon wrapped dates, fried mushrooms and the pork belly. All three were really good but my favorite was the dates. The pork belly was soft and really tasty. We were recommended the crepe with nutella and fresh strawberries with whip cream and drizzled with chocolate. Sounds yummy right?! So I was a Lil disappointed when we ordered it and it came out without whip cream and chocolate, the crepe was a Lil dry and kind of didn't taste all the way cooked. We moved into the neighborhood and received a coupon in the mail to dine here. I am a sucker for coupons- so off we went. We both had cheeseburgers and fries, pretty basic off of an interesting and elaborate menu. I regret ordering something else, but my burger was very tasty. The service was great and timely, even though it only seemed there was one waitress for non-bar customers, she was great. What made the experience awesome was that the manager/owner came out and welcomed us to the neighborhood and suggested some of their best food on the menu, now I can't wait to come back and try those. This bar was suggested by a friend of mine who apparently comes here often when they are visiting. I'd never heard of it until we decided to meet up one night for drinks. I LOVE that they have good, old-fashioned darts (the digital boards just aren't as fun.) I got my a** kicked, as usual, but it's fun so who cares! We were sitting at a table at first (I hate bar-seating!) whilst we had our drinks and the waitress still made her way around in a timely manner. She was friendly and accommodating w/o hovering over us. When we made our way over to the dart boards, she went out of her way to come over and check on us every now and then. Updating to add that I still love Sporting Life and am so happy that they are officially the home of the Ohio State Alumni Association's game day parties. They've really gone all out with a special Buckeye-centric menu and beer specials until Carmen Ohio is played. Fantastic deals with items that cover about anything you'd want from breakfast food on through. Other game day specials continue after the Ohio State games. The atmosphere is exceptional, and Scooter, Doogie, and the staff are awesome at keeping the party going. I've always had great service and the food has been consistent. I'm super happy that on game day they added Cincinnati style chili to the Buckeye game day specials. They serve it as 3-way, 4-way, 5-way, and chili dogs. It's the closest taste to Skyline I've had since moving away from home. I've been craving it since I tried it and can't wait for Saturday to roll around again. Other places in the valley have tried to imitate it and don't come close. Sporting Life's version is an absolute winner. It's absolutely THE place in Las Vegas (and maybe anywhere outside of The Great State of Ohio) to watch the Buckeyes. It's the Best Damn Bar in the Land. read more

Came here with a group to try the Trivia night. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. It seemed clean and new and comfortable, and although it was pretty full, it still felt spacious and was not the crowded, noisy hellhole many bars can be on Trivia nights. (I'm talking to you, McMullan's. Thank god for your private side rooms). The game was fun; challenging enough to be interesting but not so hard you felt like an idiot who needed to surrender your high school diploma, and the host, Scooter, was as gracious and friendly as the finest of used car salesmen. (Believe it or not, that was a compliment). Everyone enjoyed their food, and although the Keto dieters among us restricted themselves to the deviled eggs, others made quick work of the gigantic soft pretzels with assorted dipping sauces, and the warm spinach salad came complete with roasted beets, bacon lardons that were smoky and chewy, and not quite enough goat cheese (if there is such a thing as enough), and the coup de gras: a perfectly poached egg. For $8.99, you can't beat that with a stick. Service was friendly but a little hectic, as can happen when things get crowded at once. We all had a great time and will be back. First off, this is a step up from your neighborhood dive bar. The atmosphere and staff bring a sort of fun feeling to the room. It's bright, clean, and there's no cloud of smoke lingering in the air. The reason for the 4 stars was the food. While the deviled egg was one of the best I've had, the fish and chips were overcooked. I had so hoped this bar would be awesome because it's less than a mile from my house, and I've been looking forward to making it my go to neighborhood bar. After months and months of waiting for them to finally finish renovating, both the food and service were a disappointment - and I didn't even walk in expecting much. There was no online menu, but since all the other reviews commented on how the food really didn't match a sports bar, I thought it could be really good. An overly ambitious sous chef who came from Bouchon sounded promising as hell. I was impressed when we walked in and saw that the daily taco was duck confit with chorizo, and only $4 for 2! Unfortunately, execution on everything we ordered was kind of a fail. Duck confit is almost always good, but I wouldn't have known that was chorizo if it hadn't said so on the board - assuming it's house made, and the spices weren't there at all. There was also so much creme fraiche that it overwhelmed everything else. I would maybe order it again, but more because it's so cheap than for flavor. Potato skins are pretty standard bar food, but they tried to fancy it up with fried croquettes, that I assumed would be potato, but ended up containing liquid cheese with fatty bits of bacon in it. The potato skins were burnt and the portion was ridiculous - it really was 1 potato skin (1/2 a potato) cut into 3 strips. It was a typical potato skin, nothing special and for $7 I wouldn't suggest ordering it. I also have no idea why it's called potato "skins" on the menu - because it's actually a singular skin, not plural? Duck confit pizza (which actually should be "pizza") was in reality a flat bread - they could argue that it was an extremely thin crust pizza, but that would be a bs. There's a fair amount of duck, lots of goat cheese, chopped dates, a really sweet mostardo (like fruit chutney) and a couple things that weren't mentioned - huge dried apricots and dried whole chilis. This was an ok dish. The chilis and savory balanced out the sweetness somewhat, but not enough. I like heat, but it really also needs to be mentioned in the description that the whole chilis are on there. We were told that "everybody loves" this dish, but I wouldn't order it again. Deviled eggs were good, but can you even screw that up? Maybe with too much salt. But that was very good and only 50cents each. Service was friendly from 1 girl, but I think the pregnant bartender just looked like she wanted to go home, which she did later as she just left without closing out our bill, or bothering to say anything. We were at the bar but ignored the majority of the time. After trying to flag down someone to pay the bill for 10 minutes, we had to get up and give it to them at the other end of the bar. They refilled my friend's water constantly, and my drink was cheap only $6 and pretty strong. Those were probably the only positives of the night. And they have lots of big TV's, so this bar will be good for games. But since I don't watch sports I likely won't be coming back. read more

Walking into a sports bar just after the Oregon-Ohio championship started, I didn't expect to be able to find a table. But Sporting Life surpasses a lot of expectations. We were able to find a table easily, and the staff were welcoming and friendly, food was on par with a gastropub and prices were on par with the quality. DEVILED EGGS: Simple but delicious, at an old-school price of fifty cents each! PRETZEL BITES WTIH CHEESE ($5 game day deal): tasty pretzels, soft and not too salty, with a tasty cheese sauce. First order, the cheese was too thin (like water), table later purchased an additional order and the cheese was the right consistency. MARINATED SKIRT STEAK ($10): great char and flavor, cooked just right and only a touch tough, served over some crazy-tasty potatoes GERMAN BRAT & FRIES ($5 Game Day Deal): such crispy fries! Snagged a few of my friend's before just ordering a plate of my own. Sausage wasn't quite as flavorful as back home (nor was the 'kraut), but both were solid on their own. The mustard it's served with is wicked good though, ask for extra! SHORTRIB FLATBREAD ($13): So friggin' good. Almost didn't order a flatbread due to the very mixed reviews, but opted for this one based on the server's recommendation and was blown away by the ample portion of meat, light but great bleu cheese, with accents of onion and mushroom. Would get this again! WINGS (4 whole, $11): Almost didn't try these (partly due to the price) but my guy has a thing for whole wings. Opted for the hot sauce on the side, which was super spicy and a weird consistency. The wings themselves were perfect as-is: lightly fried, super crispy, just a sprinkle of salt for flavor, some of the best I've had. Service from servers, food runners, and bartenders was solid throughout the night, and the owner Scooter even came out and introduced himself- he's a 49ers fan, so that automatically made him a new friend. This is a pretty cool place to watch sports. Tons of tvs and a very spacious bar. They carry a large selection of draft beers. They have a lot of food options and they have a spin to it. We ordered the chicken wings, but I really did not enjoy the whole wing. The wings were also overcooked so I was not a fan. The fried mushrooms were also different, but again I was not a fan. The batter was plain and it needed more flavor. The fried pickles had a white batter. They were a bit better, but overall I was not impressed with the food. OK I'm updating this review because we recently did a fantasy football draft here in the upstairs room (didn't know it existed...great for large groups) and everything was excellent. The service was great, they had about 4 pitchers of ice cold water and glasses set up, and drink orders were taken quickly and returned quickly. Drinks were nice and strong too! Food was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meal. I had a pulled pork sandwich and a green side salad. Really good! Lots of positives from our group on their meals. Downstairs the bartenders were very welcoming and always asked how you were doing. This is a great sports bar with lots of tv's for viewing. You could even watch a few tv's from upstairs. Wifi was fast and free. Not much else to say other than its clean, its comfortable, and service and food were outstanding. I just wish it wasn't so far from my house. This little gem was a pleasant surprise after the new owners completely revamped it (used to be the outside inn). This is not your typical bar...it is super clean, open, and a fabulous menu. The staff is courteous and food is curiously different. I've tried almost everything on the menu and never been disappointed. They offer unique pizzas, seafood etc. I was shocked how good their skirt steak and clams were. The chef, yes, a real chef, really sets this bar apart. They have darts, pool tables, gaming...the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is their gaming/ rewards program is very lacking. No incentive for me to play. Please give this place a try... Open 24/7 with packages for all the major sports allowing them to cater to all varieties of interests, it was just after 3pm that I entered the windowless tavern and with Christmas decorations still lit juxtaposing a central bar plus a few rounded booths and several tables it was suggested I seat myself - a hightop in the back with views of NBA, NHL, and playoff football action in full display as servers dressed in Scarlet and Grey and Cleveland Browns polos made me feel right at home - the lack of an annoying bar-tunes soundtrack an added bonus, though I'm told it plays on other nights when trivia or darts crowds fill the room. Treated to complimentary WiFi while sticking to water as my drink of choice it was to a wide ranging menu of bar-food staples and intriguing upscale options that I focused my attention and opting to sample a little of each a four part order was crafted, the kitchen expedient while service improved dramatically after bonding over Ohio State's New Years Day win. Starting with competent $5 Happy Hour Pretzel bites paired with hoppy melted cheese served alongside a Cracker Jack-riffing composition of pork-rinds and peanuts that tasted every bit as ludicrous and decadent as it sounds it was at a deliberately slow pace that savored each bite and eventually finding the tilted bowl empty the second part of the order was sent out, a crisp flatbread somewhat uninspired in its lightly charred crust but exponentially upgraded by toppings that walked a fine line between sweet and savory, the confit surprisingly moist while well-chopped dates and poignant goat cheese each found a willing dance partner in acid forward moustarda far more nuanced than one would ever expect in a 'bar.' Admittedly biased in my love of desserts it was still to the server that I deferred when asking which sweet ending he thought was best and although it would have been ordered anyway his strong support of the bread pudding should not go without notice, the half-melted-on-arrival ice cream a bit of a turn off, but the texture and flavor of the amalgam of butter, caramel, and flan-soft brioche truly transcendent and on par with that at Truffles n' Bacon for the best of this style served in the valley. With 24/7 bars featuring video poker, cheap drinks, smoking, and weekday party games as much a staple of Las Vegas culture as the 24/7 diner is to that of The Big Apple it is more than a little impressive to see a place like Sporting Life willing to take chances with the menu and although not everything here is perfect, particularly the smell of smoke in the air, one would be hard pressed to name another place turning out a duck confit pizza at 6am - no less a top notch bread pudding available at all hours of the day. read more

The environment here is a step above those of say a PT's or similar bar, which is one of the main draws of hanging out here. I've probably stopped in here a good 10 times or so now because it's so close to my house, but more often for trivia and food than drinking. The food here is a bit of a hit or miss. At one end is the special menu short ribs with kimchee and rice which is absolutely delicious and a full meal. At the other end is an average at best chicken sandwich. Again on the plus side, they have some good fries and a large variety of appetizers, some of which are better than others. Skins and balls, despite the somewhat crude name, is a must-try. The pork belly can vary in quality, while the steak is a salty but tasty treat. My main wish here is that they'd have some more extensive happy hours. They have a late night midnight-2am happy hour on a random selection on food, such as the skirt steak appetizer which is 5 instead of the normal 10 dollars. As for the drinks, they have an excellent selection of draft beers, though we have on multiple occasions been informed that they had run out of this or that. Prices are reasonable, but not as cheap as a lot of dive bars. My friends have unfortunately not really enjoyed their mixed drinks as much. Another plus is they have a nice dart board area which is far nicer than most establishments. They even have some real weighted darts to throw, though they're worn and the flights are often iffy at best. Still, if you have your own darts, it's a nice place to play. Last but not least, the trivia night here is not as strong as other locations, but is a nice little fun activity anyways. Some of the questions are a little too out there, and it'd be better to have a handful more easy ones to go along with the difficult ones. So I'd rather have like 25 questions than 15 with a better pacing and more difficulty variance. Anyway, this is going to be one of my main go-to bars for both sports (they have a ton of well positioned big screens) as well as just to hang out. read more

Drinks and food are priced reasonably, fun atmosphere, good service, yet the food in my opinion was lacking. I had the portobello burger and it was bleh. Kind of soggy in texture and fell apart. The pesto really made the flavor and helped me finish it. Hummus was GROSS. Worst I think I've ever eaten and my expectations of hummus aren't too high. Hummus is hard to screw up in my opinion. I really like this bar! Neal, our server was terrific and very attentive! Especially when playing darts or playing pool you want a server crushing by every 5 or 7 minutes as you drink and develop an appetite. Normally we don't give huge tips but the server Neal was amazing, we gave him 20 bucks on a 56 dollar tab. I'm so glad I got to go out to the bar and play darts with my girl. Been here twice now. Still not a fan of the deviled eggs (lets chalk it up to personal prefrence) but I must say that the chicken wings (whole wings) are some of the best wings I've ever had! I love wings. After I enjoyed them I was informed they are salt brined and then confied in duck fat before they're fried. Let's just put it this way, I had to stop myself from eating the bones. They where amazingly juicy and literally would pull right apart from the bone like it was cotton candy. The ranch which I used for the celery and carrots was delicious, you could tell that it was made in house and not store bought. I still haven't had the steamers, I'm dying to try them but I think I might have ruined that chance by trying the wings first. Not sure I'll ever order anything else.
