Found this little gem - if a chill brewery is your thing, this is it. If you're looking for delicious and robust food, this is *really* it! A total mellow vibe - the staff was super friendly and genuine. We had checked out the menu before we came so I knew I wanted the green Chile philly and the hubs wanted the pulled pork sandwich. Both were amazing (see pics - no filter needed!) - generous portions and vibrant flavors! The philly had such a good kick to it - and the pulled pork was zesty with a nice creamy slaw on top. For being in a small down, this out of the way brewery knows how to cook beer. It's a cross between a biker bar and a local gathering place. Any beer aficionado will find something to love. Try 'em all although they have a 4 beer limit. I chose the wheatier options and almost immediately got into a conversation with locals. If you go, say "hi" to Sam and Dave. I decided to stop here today because I have heard good things about this place. I wish I could review the beers but I never got a chance to. I waited about 30 minutes and never even had any server say hello or ask if I needed anything. The place wasn't even that busy, several tables were not being used. Three different servers walked by me and didn't say anything or acknowledged that I was even there. I suppose I could have tried to get their attention, but I was by the main walkway to the bar and a certain point I just wanted to see if anyone would acknowledge me. This brewery was recommended by my in laws as they live in the area. We parked in a lot behind the brewery and as we walked up, noticed two outdoor eating areas. We chose to sit inside though as it looked to possibly rain soon. Each table has a bucket with peanuts on it and the floor has shells on the ground. Just as we sat down at a table, our server came by and brought menus. We ended up trying several beers but I preferred the milk stout and the steam beers. The food here was very good, with choices such as burgers, sandwiches, delicious fries, etc. Our server (Jen?) was knowledgeable about the menu and selections. This was very much appreciated. We were traveling with two dogs and looking for a place to grab dinner. We drove by and decided to give this a try and we are so glad we did! I had one of the best veggie burgers of my life!! It was SO easy to find (provided you don't use Google Maps..lol!) and there was ample parking in back. We were able to see food come out for a table of maybe 10 gentleman and each dish looked AMAZING and we immediately KNEW we were at the right place! Cori (Corey? Cory?), our waitress, explained we could have our Black Bean Burgers with any of the fixin's from other burgers on the menu. My mom enjoyed the garlicy Cioppino. My aunt, the Nosh Plate. Our family friend, the Black Bean Burger with Jalapeno Bottle Caps and Fries and I went all out with the Black Bean Burger with Chile Relleno, Jalapeno Bottle Caps and Onion Rings with Herbed Fries. I couldn't even get 1/2 way through mine..it was SO filling! I usually clear my plate but on this day, I only got 1/2 way through it before tapping out (get it? "Tapping" out?!)!!! Love this place it was definitely a great surprise on our way back from el paso. My lady and myself always drive through towns just to see something new and see what neat places we discover. Upon discovering mesilla New Mexico we stumbled upon spotted dog and we loved it. The place is nice, very welcoming and loved that it was dog friendly. Now the beers were really great some of the best ipas and a delicious nut brown beer that I had to get two lol. Spotted dog is a big part why we want to plan a trip back to this area and I recommend when passing through Las cruces to give this place a a try. read more

Great food! Not only great food but the chef changes part of the menu every week and it always tastes great! Service is always very friendly and warm! Ambiance is lacking a bit on the inside outside is okay but on occasion you have to put up with the gas fumes from next door. I've been going to The Spotted Dog since they opened. Closest pub to my place. Their beer menu changes every so often but, isn't that one of the pleasures of visiting a brew pub? They have particular beers on tap regularly. However, they add and change some brews to "mix it up." I don't really have a favorite go to but , if I'm undecided I go to my old standby; IPA. Their IPA is fabulous and nice and hoppy. It's full bodied. I suggest asking your server for a glass of ice water with it if you are used to an IPA with lighter body. I've never had any beer there that wasn't drinkable and that I didn't care for. If you like American style Lager, I might suggest their Cerveza. The servers are very happy to bring samples of a particular beer you're interested in or, anyone can order a flight to see where their tastes land if they're not certain about what style beer they want to try. If you enjoy dark beer you will find something to enjoy as well. They have a good selection of pub food offerings and, my favorite are the sliders served on pretzel buns with fries. It's possible to substitute garlic fries or sweet potato fries with your meal if you want something other than house fries. You can also ask for a bucket of roasted peanuts to munch on with your beer if you just want to relax and enjoy yourself. read more

Such a cool place. Not many breweries in Las Cruces but this one is definitely a good one. I tried their ale and it was pretty good but I was more intrigued by the food. I tried their baby hella fried mushrooms and black bean green Chile cheese burger. The fried mushrooms were so crispy and juicy. The burger was sooo good for a meatless burger and the green Chile added a delicious spice. The burger tasted great as a whole and the fries were nice and crispy and hot! Man it was a yummy burger! I would definitely go for the food again! If you are a beer lover, I definitely would recommend this place. Even for a bite to eat and a good view of Mesilla. I don't want this to be a negative review because this place is one of my favorite places to frequent. I have been coming here since they opened and it was the Hog Wings that got me hooked on the place. It is nice that they change their menu weekly; there are many great Items that come across the menu including a great flat iron steak and just this week the salmon was outstanding. But I cannot hold my tongue any longer on the burgers. A good hamburger is one of my favorite foods and there are not too many places in town to get a good one. There are many creative burgers on their menu such as the hangover burger, the Cuban burger etc. these burgers all have great toppings but the patty is a frozen, processed patty. If I could have one wish (or suggestion) granted it would be that they had handmade (1/2 lb. USDA Prime blend or Choice) ground beef patties rather than the pre-made frozen patties. With so many other great gourmet menu items the processed burger patties are like a frown on the Mona Lisa. I hope they can pull the burgers up to the standards they have for the other menu items. read more

So I go to this Brewery on my trip and it's very small brewery just recently was I believe it was actually smaller then a microbrewery but it was delicious the beer of course. The service was incredible customer service here is definitely an important part of what the owners believe in and they've got it down right but one thing that I noticed that they added in there to make it even better a little bit more off the top. Is the food the food at this Brewery is not just delicious not just good but wow is large portions incredible everything in there is like a mix match you've got your your your Burgers they can come with shrimp you got fries I can come with a sauce you got a little bit of everything and everything is bigger in portions. I loved this place. We arrived about 40 minutes to close and even though the patio was technically closed, the server waited on us because we had a dog. The servers we very pleasant and helpful when we asked questions as my daughter just moved here. I had a flight with the hefeweizen, burning nut brown, amber and irish red. It is rare that I go to a brewery and like everything I have gotten in a flight, but here, this was some of the best beer I have ever had. If I was staying in Las Cruces, this would definitely be a place I would frequent often. We were not able to get food, so I cannot speak to its quaility. read more

Las Cruces does not lack for decent breweries! Nice patio and a few tables inside. Very small bar seating. But a big parking lot in the back. The beers here are unfiltered. Which gives them a bit of a cloudy look in the glass. Don't worry, that's supposed to look that way. As with all of my brewery reviews I won't tell you which beers to get. Choose what you like. I will say I came home with a growler of the Equinox. They have 2 sizes of growlers. Just go ahead and get the large. You know you'll drink it! The Raspberry Chocolate Ale tasted of neither. So it was a disappointment. The Kolsch was exactly what it was...a Kolsch. Get the sampler. Try a few. Mix and match with friends there with you so you can try a bunch. It's a small brewery but they change out the beer selection often. So you can go often and try new stuff. Order the o-rings. They were fantastic! Avoid the pulled pork and the hamburgers. Pork sammie was dry and the BBQ sauce added nothing. The Peking duck drumsticks were a hit with the wife. I will get them from now on! The burgers here are frozen patties. They have to be. They had no meaty flavor, no char and looked like grey thawed patties. I won't bother with anything but o-rings and the Peking duck drumsticks for munchies here again. Enjoy the patio with a couple nice beers. They only allow four per visit. So choose wisely. read more

Whatever your taste buds are yearning for, spotted dog will have it on tap. Growler fills are only $10! They also sell fashionable tees and other brew collectibles. A old buddy of mine mentioned visiting with friends at the Spotted Dog. Having lived in Aurora, CO the brew scene is quite the intrigue. Likewise, the discovery of local brew in new areas is always welcoming. The Spotted Dog is out near Old Mesilla, NM and farm country. It's strategically located next to a gas station should you want to fill up while enjoying a beverage LoL. The irony of the location by a gas station is that Old Mesilla police historically have a strict reputation. You could almost glance at the brewery while filling up and the police will stop you for considering having a drink. Nevertheless, The Spotted Dog was a pleasant surprise. The food was adequately tasty, and the beer was refreshing. We had the Belgian Tripel. It came across more like a mild IPA, but still quite enjoyable for a local attempt at a Tripel. That is in no way a knock. It is a quality beer that all should try. A fun fact about the Spotted Dog is on their higher percentage beers come with a two beer limit. You have to respect their level of responsibility. It can be quite frustrating if you are a veteran consumer of alcohol, but at the same time Old Mesilla police sobriety tests and devices don't discriminate against blood alcohol level. Just something to note should you go for the higher alcohol content. The Spotted Dog is certainly a place to try. Again, from what we tried, Belgian and red, they came across like IPAs. Perhaps the lines weren't cleared properly from a previous beer. They are still worth consumption. read more

They treat every customer differently. Very picky about customers. Likely run by the local bikers that are always there. They didnt allow our dog on the patio but they allow their friends dogs. When we made the effort to put our dog away, they found another reason to kick us out; that they apparently dont even allow anyone under 21 in because they have a bar (unlike any other restaurant with a bar).
