Ate here with my book club, so we had the reserved room in the back. I'd been to the location on Hwy 6. It's decent BBQ...but I'm not a BBQ snob like my hubby, haha. I do like Rudy's a little better. I got the pepper sausage, potato salad, and mac & cheese. Their potato salad actually isn't bad...and I AM a snob when it comes to that...so many places screw it up royally. It's still sweet, but not hurt-your-teeth sweet or soupy! So that's a plus. Oh, and the guys serving the meat were really friendly. One of my favorite places. I enjoy the chopped beef sandwhich or the beef and sausage plate. Macaroni and cheese needs some work. Plenty of fresh chilled pickles and onions. So I am just in heaven. I do think the food was better when they were a smaller chain in the Dallas Fort Worth area but business is business. The desserts are good and the ice cream and cobbler are nicely done. Often times the staff forget about the rolls and over cook them. Came here for lunch and had the pulled bbq pork sandwich combo which came with two sides for under $10. The bbq sauce was good and meat was tender. The sides is a self serve bar so you scoop your choice of two sides on your plate then go to the cashier. So its an order at the counter type place. I am not a connoisseur of bbq like some down here, but I must admit, it was very very good. My family and I tried virtually all of the meats and from the sausage, to the ribs, to the ham, it was all super. The sauce is good and you can help yourself to the sides. The wait staff behind the counter put on a great show breaking into revelry type singing at the drop of a hat, or whenever an order is placed and it was fun to see. Right when you walk through the door, you're greeted by the wonderful smell of BBQ. The way they sing/chant the orders, slide the plates- creates a happy, fun environment. The prices are reasonable. There were 4 of us eating & all of us raved about our meals. I didn't give it 5 stars because I think the sides could use some improvement - maybe offer fries? The free bread is amazing!!! The restaurant was clean and decor very Texan ;) The manager stopped by our table and asked how everything was, comments, etc...I love when they do that bc it shows that they truly care about their customers. read more

The best thing here is the fresh bread that comes around every few minutes. The BBQ is decent and it's nice that the sides bar is all you can eat. It's a pretty good value for the price for sit-in. I got the sausage and turkey combination (had a lot of meat the night before, haha) and the turkey was very moist and tender. The sausage was pretty salty, though, and I had to wrap it in the awesome bread to eat it. The mac & cheese from the sides bar was good, along with the cole slaw. Potato salad was good, also. Didn't get to try out the others since I got full from the one plate. The ordering system is more like Luby's, if you have been there. Walk in, stand in line, get your food and sides then pay. Sit down and enjoy. If you want more sides, you ask the cashier, I think, for another plate and you can just cut and get more sides. read more

As of recent I am on a medically required low salt diet. I hate giving up the salt but it is a trade off: health or food I crave. Here I have found a balance: great food and acceptable levels of salt. I have been coming here for years and I am a fan. The Good news is that I can still eat here. I just have to pick what I eat. This place is simply GREAT. I have yet to find a place that tops Spring Creek. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the prices. I always get the bbq chicken and rib combo..it is quite a bit of food ..and I share with my youngster. The sauce is YUMMY and the sides are ok. I wish they offered mashed potatoes and gravy.... Food is good, not great. A little over priced. You are supposed to be able to get multiple helpings of the sides but you have to wait in line all over again. They won't give you dishes on the side when going through line or they charge you for it. For example if I wanted my mac and cheese on a side dish and not on my main plate. Bread is good. read more

Where do I start? I ate here today, hoping to taste some good BBQ, but the portions are so so tiny, and the sausage sliced so ridiculously thin, that it's actually very difficult to taste it! It literally is sliced as thin as lunch meat!! They slice the sausage, which is paper thin, no exaggeration, and they take that slice and cut it in half and spread it out on the plate, to make it look like there's more meat lol! No joke. Keep in mind the 2 meat plate is $15. Then the guy cut me two really thin slices of brisket that were literally two inches long. The brisket had absolutely no taste of any spices, no salt or pepper or anything resembling a condiment. There was zero, and I mean zero, smoke flavor to the meat. Very very bland taste, coupled with tiny portions, are a recipe for disappointment. They do encourage you to eat as many of the sides as you want, and try and stuff you with rolls, to take your mind away from the extremely stingy and tiny portions. If you eat half a pound of potato salad and two rolls, then yes, you can leave here not hungry, but if you came here for BBQ, You will literally get about maybe, and I'm being generous here, 4oz of meat. Save your $40 for two people eating bill that you will spend here and do yourself and go to Luby's and eat their BBQ for half of the price, because the quality will be the same. If you want good BBQ, Go across the street to Rudy's, where they actually weigh the meat and you are assured of a fair amount of meat at a damn good price. Avoid this place as you would gas station sushi. Terrible terrible terrible. One last note, if you want to ruin your appetite, go check out the condition of the bathrooms before you order. read more

SpringCreek BBQ brisket is as close as I can get to my husband's brisket. It can use a little more seasoning. The tenderness melts in your mouth the same though. I like adding the brisket to the southwestern salad. Yum! FYI... They serve complimentary bluebell ice cream on Sundays. read more

I've never been so angry at this restaurant!!! I spent $15 on a plate of food, I felt like they cut the portions too small and I did not get any bread. I decide to wait for the hot fresh bread and we were not offered any, it was all taken to the front, the next batch went to a to-go order. It's nothing remarkable, but the fried okra & Chopped Baker are worth checking it out for. My work orders take out from here for lunch and one order of the fried okra and I'm pretty full! They are very nice too because while you're waiting for your take out they serve you soft drinks, tea or water! It has a cafeteria kind of feel, which most BBQ places do, but one can't help feeling like they were at the county fair.... this could be a good thing or a bad thing. read more

LOVE SPRING CREEK!!!!!!! My mouth is water now as I write this review :-) The atmosphere, food, bread, sides are amazing. I love the ham, sausage (pepper sausage most), pulled pork and brisket. The food is consistant everytime we are here. The sides are great tasting! I love the potato salad and cole slaw. My husband loves the mac and cheese. He also loves the chicken, turkey and pulled pork. You can also special order a HUGE baked potato (big enough for 2 people) and fries if you want something different than the other options. I have also had the Southwest salad which was wonderful and it was huge. Fanastic place and one of the best BBQ places in Katy. read more

I went yesterday to buy food to go. I asked 1.5 lb of sliced beef. When I got home, I noticed the amount of food looked small. I had a scale and weigthed it. Surprised, it was around half of a pound. I called the store and explained. They said I have to bring the food back. I said we already ate it. They said nothing else they can do. I want to alert customers: check your food before taking off. This place reminds me of the small town hole in the wall bbq joints, like the one in my hometown. Way more authentic Texas bbq than Rudy's (not sure why everyone compares the two, they're completely different styles). Some of the other reviewers seem pretty picky. Is it gourmet? Succulent. Moist. Flavorful. The meat melted into every tastebud, and found a home in my palette. I find myself waking in the middle of the night craving the flavor. The cuts were near perfect, and the sauce had an element of home barbecue, that reminded me of friends and a good time spent near the grill. The ambiance was subpar, very "yeehaw". The individual sides were 6oz, not enough to truly satisfy the need for potato salad. You will need to order the pint for true satisfaction. Also, don't expect consistency in their cuts. Sometimes it's dry, other times it flakes off and melts into your mouth. And that, is a damn shame. Rolls, get your delicious hot rolls here... The hot yeast rolls are fantastic, no one makes them better. Waiting in line is an amusing treat. Apparently there are rhyming descriptions of the food people order. The staff diligently repeats phrases that describe food orders verbally. The barbecue is cut freshly in plain sight of the customers waiting in line. Brisket is passable, and ribs are as expected. The side orders are a little confusing and available after the protein is served. Once selected they are tasty. Any request that requires extra preparation is brought to your table. What is also brought is the endless delicious yeast hot rolls. Yumm. When your meal is complete, there are a variety of cobblers available at extra cost in the dining area. I have never tried them due to the consumption of hot rolls. Not the place for a discerning barbecue lover, but the overall experience is pleasing. read more

I was a little unsure about eating here because of the reviews. I've never eaten at Spring Creek Barbecue before. But my wife and I gave it a chance and I'm so glad we did. Being born and raised in Houston I know Texas B.B.Q. and I always judge a B.B.Q. place by how well they do three things. Pork Ribs, Brisket, and their B.B.Q sauce. So I ordered the 2 meat plate of Brisket and Pork Ribs. The young man cutting the meat gave me 3 choices of how I'd like my brisket; lean, marbling, or mixed. I choose the marbling. My wife ordered the sliced brisket sandwich and she choose mixed. My side was potato salad. The Brisket had a nice blackened rub crust to it with out it being burnt or too dry. It had a nice 1/4 inch or so pink smoke ring to it, just about right. The young man sliced it just about the right thickness and the marbling made it nice and tender. Lets call the Brisket an 8 out of 10. My wife liked the bun for her Brisket sandwich. She said the bread tasted slightly sweet and it was lightly toasted so it didn't get soggy quickly which can be a problem sometimes. She gave it a big thumbs up. The pork ribs were decent size. They had a nice dry seared outer crust to them like I like. The inside was nice and moist and flavorful. They had a nice smoke flavor to them that was not over powering on the smoke flavor. The flavor was a nice balance. Lets call them 8 out of 10. The B.B.Q. sauce was a nice, slightly sweet sauce with no real spice but a bit of a strong smokey pure sugar cane or molasses flavor to it. It was pretty good. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. The atmosphere of the place was nice but we ate there about 3 in the afternoon before the rush so it was quiet. The restrooms were nice and clean which is always something I notice and appreciate. Overall I give this place a solid 4 stars out of 5 stars for the dining experience and a solid 4 stars out of 5 for the food. I would be a "go to" B.B.Q. place on my list of B.B.Q. restaurants. read more

I'm giving this place four stars because I really really enjoyed my chopped beef sndwich and the service there. That chopped beef was good! ALthough, I didn't get fries, I opted for sides like pot. salad and mac n chz, which I'm a fan of mac n chz and so is my son kinda...and that was not doing it for us....the pot. salad...oh no, nuh-uh-o....it taste ech to me....like one of my dad's old friends would like that, it wasn't up for my taste..no way. I like that they were passing out hot fresh bread, and even though only one person at my table ate it, they came back around and asked us again....that's cool. And what I was told...the bread was delicious....hot and fresh....true to what they were passing on.
