Lean Brisket, Baked Potato, Mac & Cheese, Roll
    Patrick Z.

One of my fav BBQ spots, LOVE Spring Creek. The lean brisket is my fav, they cut it right in front of you and meat is just so tender, juicy, and the bark is fire. BBQ sauce is sweet in the good way, as is the Sweet Tea. The fresh rolls they bake and pass around are actually insane like some of the best bread ever. Mac & Cheese is good but the Baked Potato is even better: massive, loaded with toppings, I get butter, cheese, and sour cream ALWAYS. Last but not least if you come in on Sundays they might go around offering free scoops of Bluebell Homemade Vanilla and the scoops are MASSIVE. Like literally baseball sized, such a great end to the meal.

Delicious smoked meats that melt in your mouth served cafeteria style. Highly recommend. The brisket was the perfectly smoked and fork tender. The beef is sliced to order if you want lean or marbled. The ribs are scrumptious. The homemade pickles and rolls complimented the bbq perfectly. The other sides were nothing special.

We came in 40 minutes before closing. Shame on us, but we were craving BBQ! Even though we were late, the team was super welcoming and didn't rush us, which we appreciated. The food was enjoyable, even though a few of the sides could use some improvement. I'll definitely be back. Love the family-friendly vibes here!

Ridiculousness! I am going to have to find another place to get my regular peach cobbler. You raise the price of it and then you cheat people with portion size. Half the container is empty smh I am so frustrated and will be letting everyone who comes here know

Amazing ribs, about the 3rd best ive ever had, but im mainly here for the mac n cheese tastes like box mac n cheese which im sad about but everything else was the best!

A big fan of finding new barbecue places and this place gets the job done. The portions are respectable, but the sides could do with a smidge more salt and the meat in itself can be extremely good on one bite and a bit on the blander side the next. Nevertheless, the staff is courteous and you get fresh bread from someone walking around! The three meat plate (brisket, sausage, and ribs) are filling and the two sides (corn and Mac n cheese) is what I ordered and I'd probably get it again. I wish they still had the free ice cream, but this will do for now! TLDR: a bit on the pricier side, meat is good but sometimes a bit bland, and you get fresh bread if you wait long enough! Cheers!

Uhm... yeah no, this chain is definitely the fast food version of Texas BBQ. I just want to leave my rating here and be done with it honestly. The "slow smoke" tasted more like chemicals than actual slow smokers, but overall it's just pretty disappointing in a non-descript way. Edible and will do in a pinch, but still. The fried okra is also dry as heck. Peach cobbler is like, okay. Serviceable. Still somehow the best dish here just by virtue of it being actually sweet. Honestly could've had a better rating if they weren't in Houston of all places.

We ordered takeout and it was very good. The baked potatoes are huge and the meat was good and the freshly baked rolls were outstanding.

After the 30 minute drive, I get there and don't see it on the menu. As I get to the front I figure it'll be okay, I'll get something else if they don't have it but I'll double check cuz I know I saw it on their website just a few days ago. Disappointingly, it is confirmed that they don't have it. Without glancing at the menu I try to go for my standard two meat plate of brisket and ribs... Turns out you can't get ribs as part of the two meat plate. Okay, I don't need to eat that much food anyway, just brisket with mac and cheese and their cornbread casserole. It's a counter service barbecue place this should take about 2 minutes... But it doesn't. We go find a seat and we wait, and we wait, and they finally call us to pick up our food. I take a bite of the mac and cheese. Delicious! My disappointment starts to fade and I get excited about the rest. A fork full of cornbread casserole... It's all right. Tasty but not as exciting as the mac and cheese was. Now it's time for the brisket. It's very tender, well cooked, looks like a nice bark, but not much flavor. Perhaps that sums up my experience, big expectations but not a lot of delivery. If you want some outstanding mac and cheese, give this place a try. If you're looking for barbecue, it's fine, on par with other places, but not worth a 30 minute drive from the city.

I've been coming to Red River BBQ for years, so believe me when I say this with love... what in the…read morechildren's-menu nonsense is going on with these baked potatoes? I ordered a chopped beef brisket spud -- same thing I've ordered a hundred times -- and what arrived on my plate was a potato roughly the size of one and a half ATM cards. Sir, I am a grown man. I should not need a microscope to locate my dinner. If I'm paying $14-$15, the potato should at least be the size of my hand... not something that escaped the kids' meal tray. Did I not look hungry? Did I offend someone? Do I need to submit a formal request for an adult portion? If so, please forward the paperwork -- and the rest of the potato you still owe me. And listen, I get it: smaller potatoes mean less brisket needed to "cover" the top. Smart business move... not a great customer move. This is the second or third time I've received the toddler spud, so either y'all accidentally ordered a pallet of fun-size potatoes, or someone back there is trolling me specifically. Food Quality Update (Not the Good Kind) The brisket used to have excellent flavor. Today? Rubber band vibes. Bland. Chewy. The kind of meat that makes you question your life choices. I drowned it in sauce. Then drowned it again. Still tasted like disappointment. And let's talk music. Most BBQ joints play country, Texas classics -- something with smoke and soul. Red River, however, hit me with what sounded like Céline Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." Ma'am, that's not what I want playing while I mourn my tiny potato and rubberized brisket. The Affair... I won't say I've cheated on Red River... ...but I have visited Spring Creek BBQ a few times, and let's just say I left feeling valued, respected, and full. Their potatoes? Adult-sized. Their brisket? Juicy. Their peach cobbler with melting ice cream? I'm drooling writing this. Spring Creek reminds me what BBQ is supposed to taste like. Meanwhile Red River is over here serving Weight Watchers portions at luxury prices. Final Verdict Red River, I love you... but the quality has declined significantly over the years. Portions are shrinking, flavor is slipping, pricing is climbing, and Céline Dion is not helping. SOS. Fat Thor out.
