The village eatery is always a go-to for our family. We love their take-out as well as going out to eat there. They have a great menu and we enjoy their specials. Our favorites are: villagio dip, French onion soup, chicken julienne salad, any pasta dish, subs for take-out, bbq ribs, and the Friday seafood specials. This is a restaurant we can call for take-out, got to on a random weeknight, or visit for a special occasion/we have guests in town. Their sauce is delicious and they always serve their homemade bread with meals. The shaker of Parmesan right on the table is a plus. Everyone is friendly and even on busy nights they keep attention to detail (refills, cleaning plates promptly). For take-out they typically go over your order quickly before you leave to make sure you have everything. The bathrooms are very clean (including changing table for baby!). The menus are also clean. This review is long over due and if I took the time to check-in every time we've eaten here I would have several yelp badges from them alone! We always get take out here. We have dined in but that was years ago. So this review is strictly about their food and take out service. They have a separate entrance for those ordering takeout. More than 4-5 people waiting would make the space cramped. On certain days it's cramped around dinner time but it's worth it!! The main stay staff in the takeout area is Emma. She is so nice. Always a smile on her face and happiness in her voice. Great service with a smile. Now the food. We have 3 go to meals and as many go to deserts. They have a monday pasta special which we frequently enjoy. There 3 choices all at cost of $9.99 each. Good sized portions. 2 orders would comfortably feed 3. Add a meatball or sausage with sauce if you're a carnivore like me. Next we have their assorted sub. Quality meats on good bread with fresh lettuce tomato and onion. Finally there is our favorite entree, Chicken Capri. Two breaded chicken breasts over a bed of thin spaghetti in a lemon butter garlic sauce. Pair that with the complimentary bread and your choice of soup or salad and you are set!! One entree will definitely fill two bellies and, you will be full. They have a dessert display with individually packaged slices of a variety of cakes and pies. Our go to's are the homemade apple crumb pie, carrot cake, and their chocolate brownie. Mmmmm mmmm! We were a group of 13 getting together for the holidays. Rachel S. was our waitress and rolled with the punches and was so pleasant for such a large group. We had the room in the back. There were others in there but we felt comfortable. Meals were excellent as usual. People had chicken Parmesan, so tasty. Some had bowls of pasta with a salad, great bread and sauce. My friend beside me had scallops and baked potato. Super! Everyone was pleased and their sauce is great! Always good service but Rachel helped our evening be especially pleasant. We ordered from here as a quick lunch option and selected the delivery option. I was surprised how quickly the food arrived with appropriate temperatures. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and a single order of hot wings. The wings were so good; crispy and sauced properly. The salad was fresh and crisp. The only things is, I wish there was a little more lettuce. The ranch dressing has to be homemade and had I known, I would've asked for it for my wings. So good! I moved around the corner so me and husband decided to give this place a go. We been twice so far and it's good. The first time we went we got a personal pizza each, he got a bruschetta pizza and I got a vegetable pizza. The bruschetta pizza was very good, so was the vegetable pizza but it was a bit bland so I asked for garlic salt and the waiter was having a hard time trying to get some, we came back a few times and kept telling me was working on it but never got it out to me, not sure if there didn't have it or that was a odd request to them there aren't used to getting. She also forgot to put in the order for the fries and I had to remind her and it came out just before we were leaving. The second time we went, it was a Saturday and I got the prime rib, it was very tender and soft, I felt like the broth/juice it came in was a little salty but I only had prime rib a few times so maybe that's normal, the mashed potatoes were seasoned had a good garlic taste but it didn't taste homemade more like powered/boxed potatoes. We ordered drinks from the bar, flavored margaritas would be a good choice, it was also unfortunate that they did not have White Zinfandel as a wine selection a good semi-sweet option in my opinion. I had lasagna- the noodles were to al dente making it chewy, cook them a few minutes longer, the food temp was warm at best. I ordered a meatball on the side, it literally fell apart when I cut into it, it should be firm and ease up on the oregano. Your sauce was very good, the fresh bread wonderful. My husband had the jumbo stuffed shells and had to request more sauce, but he enjoyed them. The French onion soup was excellent, problem here is our entree showed up before we finished, we felt rushed and couldn't enjoy it the way we would've liked. There was a great dessert selection. I had the brownie sundae and hubby had the Italian cream cake, both were very good The server was very friendly and accommodating. Her name escapes me, but we were at table #3 on New Year's eve, which was why we didn't send any food back for correction. It was very busy. The restaurant ambiance was nice, not overly noisy considering how busy they were. I might suggest a less busy time to go to this restaurant. I feel they might have been overwhelmed with the amount of guests. We have been here a few times and the food seems like it tasted better during those visits. Village eatery has been on my to eat list for years and I'm so upset my husband and I have never been here together before. 10/10 from the moment we stepped in to the moment we left. We were sat immediately on Friday evening and our server was prompt, personable and knowledgeable of the entrees and menu. The restaurant gave nostalgic Italian restaurant vibes. We started with the garlic bread with melted mozzarella accompanied by their delicious marinara sauce. I ordered the chicken capri which is pan fried chicken breast in a garlic and lemon butter sauce over Angel hair pasta- omg it was so light and flavorful. Unbelievably great experience! We had been looking for a new restaurant to try, and based on the reviews we saw on Yelp, we decided to try Village Eatery. The place seemed cozy and welcoming when we entered, and we were nicely greeted by the staff. There were many great choices on the menu. My wife ordered a glass of the Riesling, which was excellent. Upon learning that this was our first visit, the head chef, Nick, made it a point to come out to our table and welcome us, which we thought was very classy. We started with a basket of warm, homemade bread and marinara sauce for dipping. They make a sweet marinara sauce, which we very much enjoyed. For an appetizer, we ordered a homemade meatball, which my wife said was the best she had ever had. We then had a cup of the homemade Italian Wedding soup, which was fantastic. For my main course, the brasciole was very much like my own grandmother's. The pork was incredibly tender and melted in your mouth. The stuffing was homemade and full of great flavor. For dessert, I had the profiterole, which was topped with a chocolate mousse and was absolutely amazing. After dinner, the chef came back out and spoke with us again, explaining in detail how he had prepared our meals, made sure we were completely satisfied, shook our hands and thanked us for coming. Although this place is far away from where I live in Buffalo, I'm very happy Jamie recommended it so strongly because I had a great time eating the scrumptious food this place had to offer. We were there on a weekday night and even then the place was buzzing with people. We started off our meal with a couple cocktails. Godiva Martini was a nice blend of chocolaty flavor with irish cream while Italian mule cocktail really took me by surprise with its refreshing taste of amaretto, ginger beer and lime juice. Although I am not a huge fan of amaretto, I loved it in the liquid form. We left no stone unturned with a 3 course meal. We ordered Arancini as an appetizer and it was perfectly fried with a side of marinara sauce. I have always been a fan of Arancini and this place did not disappoint. Next came our main course of Pasta con vodka and lasagna. The wait staff kindly substituted the pancetta in the pasta for more veggies since I am a vegetarian. I had never had vodka cream sauce before this and l became an instant fan after taking the first bite. The onions and tomatoes enhanced the flavor and the portion was humongous (lots of leftovers, yay!). Family dinner at the Village Eatery! The pepperoni pizza was incredible, and we are fussy about our pizza! We also had two pasta dishes. Chicken and Broccoli Pasta had plenty of tender chicken and really fresh broccoli in a light sauce. Spaghetti Bistro was loaded with tasty meatballs and sliced sausage. We were delighted to see that salad and Italian bread were included with the entrees. Our server Ari was friendly and attentive. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. This is a favorite restaurant in Lockport and a go-to for take out nights. I was sad to learn they took their cheddar fries appetizer off the menu though! It was my favorite guilty pleasure and it may stop some visits in the future as Lockport is now pretty out of the way for us. I still recommend them for Italian food and subs. Crust was different not thick or thin in between and that was great, good sauce and the right amount of cheese. Now the restaurant- ambience very nice , service not great. Our waitress kept disappearing for long enough periods of time that we were wondering what happened to her. All the other wait staff was buzzing around but not her so food took too long to come out and we had to ask another waitress to bring us something. One of the best chicken finger subs I've ever had. I've ordered them several times, & they're consistently delicious. Also LOVE their fish fry. It might be my favorite ever. Breaded haddock, huge meaty piece. Tasty, no strong fishy flavor. Never greasy, nice & crisp. I always get a baked potato, which is also huge, & delicious. One of my favorite parts is their tartar sauce. I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect that they make their own. From what I can taste, it has fresh dill in it & always tastes so good! I don't typically like tartar sauce, which is why I even mention it. It's so good, & better than the typical Sysco foods variety that most places use. I also LOVE their fresh bread. I save it for breakfast the next day. And that's a good point, I always get at least 2 meals out of this fish Fry. Love it. Another favorite of mine is their garlic parm wings or fingers. They are so good, enjoying them is an existential experience. I like the wings extra crispy. And seriously they are fantastic! Try them. Of course the pizza is delicious too! I been coming to this restaurant for years.. the service tonight was horrible .. Issue 1: we made reservations . When we walked they told us they just gave our table to person before us. Issue 2; my elderly grandma has issues walking and standing they said it would be a minute and we can sit at the bar .. when I asked for a seat she could use I got eye roll. Issue 3: we waited 70 min for our food we watched some one sit down eat and pay and leave before we got fed. Issue 4: I had to ask for napkins when I got them I got a snarky comment back.
