Hands down the worst diner experience I've ever had. This is coming from someone that's gotten food poisoning from Denny's. I'd rather have had the food poisoning. This placed seemed busy, so we figured it had to be good. Wrong. Upon arriving my wife and I were shooed in the direction of our booth, not a word was said. A little odd. We started off with an appetizer: wings, chicken fingers, mozz sticks, and a potato skin. Not too bad. Wings were not the best, but hey, we aren't in Buffalo. Next the waitress took our order, well, maybe. She may have been daydreaming. She was probably daydreaming. My wife ordered an open face roast beef, with a salad and mashed potatoes. Simple enough. I ordered an open face steak sandwich which was supposed to come with fries and slaw. I had to repeat this 3 times and eventually had to point to it on the menu, and the waitress still came back 2 more times. When the food came out my wife's sandwich was just dry roast beef (looked microwaved) on dry bread. No salad and what I guess they considered mashed and gravy. My plate consisted of a steak (not a steak sandwich, a regular steak), green beans, and mashed. When I stated that I had ordered the steak sandwich, not the steak, the waitress got annoyed and took it back. She returned 3 minutes later with literally the same steak she took back on a dry piece of bread and lettuce and tomato. I could go on but no one wants to read a 10 page review. In short, avoid this diner. Bad service and worse food. The best part about our meal was when we were walking out the door. read more

First time in today, will be my last time! Breakfast food ok but waitress was inattentive, forgot what I ordered n then acted like it wasnt much of her concern to fix it! By the way she came to the table 3 times before she took our order then never checked back in. Cost me $40 for breakfast and two burgers for my children. We were staying at the Day's Inn down the street and I asked the desk staff where they would suggest going for breakfast. They all said the Springfield Diner, we stopped by around 8am on Wednesday and it wasn't very busy. The waitress was very nice and attentive. My girlfriend picked the ham and cheese omelet and I went with the standard breakfast special. (Eggs, toast, home fries and sausage) I choice the sausage links or the patties and they were natural casing and very tasty. The home fries had so much flavor, my girlfriend wished they were crispier but they were still very good. She liked her omelet and the prices were very fair. When we come back to Philly again we will stay in this area again and will come back to this diner! read more

We were told by one of my husbands clients that this was a great place to eat...he lives in Delaware, we live about 1/4 mile from the diner and have never eaten there! We stopped in for lunch and even though it was very busy, we were seated right away. The menu is big and the prices are very reasonable...the portions are hugh! The food was so good! I had the Eggplant parmesan sandwich and my husband had the California Burger...my sandwich was delish (I could only eat half) and my husband ate every bite of his burger which he told me was great! Both of us cook and love to go out but hate to be ripped off at restaurants and this will definitely be our "go to" place for eating out. No more chain restaurants for us...which is about all that is in Springfield. Our waitress, Precious, was very pleasant and checked back with us throughout the meal to see if we needed anything. She knows how to treat a customer. She was very sweet and hard working. The dessert case looked amazing and everything is made in their own bakery which is in the building. We were too full to indulge, but now know where to go if we have a sweet tooth attack late at night...it all looked so good! We took a take out menu for home as I think we'll let someone else do the cooking this summer...This was our first time here and we will definitely become regulars at this spot. read more

Went here without reservations (do not know if you need or can make them) on Saturday around 5:30, no problem, were seated immediately, got a booth. Quick service, good food. My wife had a fish wrap & I had a seafood platter. Vegetable servings were good sized and in a separate dish and not on plate with entree. I always get a coleslaw and was happy with theirs. Seafood not as good as I would like, I will have to try something different next time. Plan to go back again soon. read more

Just came from Thanksgiving dinner at the Springfield Diner. Let me start by saying, everyone there, including the wait staff, was very nice. All of us ordered the traditional turkey dinner. The dinner included soup or salad, turkey with dressing, small amount of cranberry sauce (which came in a small lidded plastic container, two veggies and dessert. Turkey was just "okey". The mashed potatoes were very salty as were the string beans. Cole slaw was wonderful. Dressing/stuffing was the best anywhere. We were all very disappointed, pumpkin pie did NOT come with dinner. There was an extra charge for it. We opted for the sweet potato pie which was pretty bad. Even the color was a dark greyish brown. The diner was bright and clean. A two star rating is pretty generous for this place. When Springfield diner opened up, the food was great, they gave you a large amount of food for a very good price. Unfortunately, since this place gets busy very quickly, the quality of the food drops. I've been here many times where my food was dry, bland and didn't taste too good. I had stopped going here for a while due to the way I was treated by people in the past, but my past experience was amazing. My sever Courtney really made the experience that much better. When I first was seated, I noticed that I did not have silverware and within 2 seconds of ordering my drinks, she came and set my place setting for me. Then they were out of the pasta that I ordered...which normally people get all angry about but her demeanor and calm attitude is what made me not mind. First time visit was yesterday 6/7/2018. I went there for dinner me and my 2 children. I went there because some people I know go there and they said it was pretty good. My initial thoughts were ok but as the dinner progressed I felt like I was being rushed. I ordered 2 appetizers and I just got the appetizers then here comes the salads then about 5 minutes later the dinners were there. I had all the food on my table at once. Plus for what I got I felt it was a little overpriced. Also when I went to pay the girl at the register was not very personable at all didn't ask how everything was nor did she THANK ME when she gave me my change. I am real big on customer service and this will probably be my first and last visit to this place. I would much rather go to MILLERS ALE HOUSE right down the street. read more

If you go to the Springfield Diner do not order the Reuben Panini. It is a mess to eat. My Mom ordered one and she did not want sauerkraut on it which the waitress wrote down. When her sandwich came the sauerkraut was on it and the bread was a soggy mess. You couldn't even pick it up. She did not want another sandwich as she waited half an hour for it and ate it the best she could. I ordered grilled scallops which I was told take 15 minutes. They were cold. This restaurant is mobbed on the weekends and I think the food is rushed when it is made. Don't expect your food to be hot. When we left I asked the manager to take the charge for her sandwich off the bill or reduce the price. He would not do it because he said my Mom did not want to wait for another sandwich. I guess they have enough customers that they don't have to accomodate you this way, but most restaurants do. I did not want a slice of dessert to take home as he offered. He said he would tell the people in the kitchen to be more careful when reading the orders. I won't go here for a long time. This diner has good and bad points. The waitresses are very nice and do a good job. It is not their fault that the food is not always right and cold. If you go on the weekends do the expect to get the food exactly the way you want it read more

Oven out of comission and had the gang coming for Thanksgiving. Ordered the turkey dinner with all the fixings including cherry pie. They did not skimp on anything!! Everything was good but the gravy. Would have perferred giblet gracvy, next time I will make mmy own ahead of time. Their stuffing was better then mine though! Went on a Sunday the busiest day. You would think that means full staff and ready for the business. Not really. It was busy but the wait was only 15 minutes. Though that was pretty good. They called our name and took us to a table. The table hadn't been cleaned yet. The hostess said sit down and I'll have the bus boy clean the table. I said I would wait so they could clean it properly. The hostess grabbed a towel from a bus person and wiped the area of the table they could without moving anything and never wipe the seats. She then ask us to sit. Not sure what the hurry was to sit us because it took 4 to 5 minutes before the waitress came over. The waitress finally came over and I found out why it took so long. She was waiting for her other 2 table to be sat so she could work all 3 at once. Seemed like the logical thing to do. The waitress took our order and the other tables as well. My wife and I order coffee. Regular for me and Decaf for her she has a heart condition. We also placed our food order I ordered eggs over easy, bacon, scrapple, and toast. About 5 minutes went by and the waitress came back with a tray filled with coffees and waters. She served the one table there coffee and water then came to ours. When she delivered ours she gave my wife a cup of coffee that looked like the rest of them but said it was decaf. Said she did not have cream but would be back with it. A few minutes went by and the waitress came back to serve additional coffee to another table, no creamers. She walked by our table and disappeared for a while. After about 5 minutes I got up and ask the hostess if we could have some creamers. She came with the creamers and my wife also ask that her cup of coffee be exchanged for decaf. The hostess came back and I explained all the issues. The hostess said she would inform the manager. She also said that the food would be good. The next time we saw the waitress was about 5 - 10 minutes later when she brought our food. Again the tray was filled with food some ours some another table. She proceeded to server the other table. She presented my meal (eggs over easy with bacon and scrapple to the other table and they informed her they did not order that. She then served it to me. She finished serving the other table then came back to ours and served me sausage. I stated I order scrapple. My wife ordered bacon but that was not there. Good thing my wife did not trust the decaf she first served us. The waitress said she would be right back with our scrapple and bacon. Right back means 3 to 5 minutes or more in the Springfield Dinner. She came back with the rest of our order. My potatoes were cold. My over easy eggs were broke. The bacon and scrapple were OK. After about 10 minutes she came back to all her tables and did a walk by asking if everything was OK. When she came by our table she started walking away before my wife could ask for a refill of decaf. We had to flag her down on her way back passed our table. When the check came I realized why she first server sausage, because that is what the waitress rung up. I went to the bathroom where the toilets were not flushing properly. The sink and floors had water and paper towels on them. While in the bathroom the hostess came back to check on the table and told my wife to let me know she was there. The waitress came back to inform my wife that sausage and scrapple cost the same. No manager ever came to the table. What looked like manager were acting as a hostess seating people and acting as a hostess greeting people at the door. Very Very Poor service. I will NOT go back. read more

Went here for breakfast a few weeks ago. I was surprised there was a line waiting to get in as it was a weekday. They said it would be 10 mins but it turned out to be less than that. The waitress was EXCELLENT. Very friendly and good at her job. I was very surprised at how fast the food came out after placing our order, as the place was packed. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes for the food. I would guess this could mean some of the stuff is not cooked to order but I don't know that for a fact. My friend ordered the chip beef on toast which was good. I ordered a Spanish omelet. It came out looking great but when I cut into it, it was extremely watery. It was as if they had folded a half of a jar of salsa into the middle of the omelet. I took a few bites and couldn't eat it. The waitress took it back for me and I ordered 2 eggs over easy. She also brought me a whole new order of hash brown potatoes even though I had almost finished the ones with my original order. The eggs were ok. I would say stick to the more basic of breakfast stuff. The coffee was fresh and hot. Oh yeah, one more thing. They brought my toast already slathered in tons of butter. When the waitress saw me scraping it off, she came over and insisted I get a new order, which she brought with the butter on the side. Much better. I would say from my first visit, food wise, it was mediocre but the service, and waitress more than made up for it. I will give it another try and keep it simple. The coffee, hash browns, and chip beef were good. The place is new and looked very clean. I have not eaten lunch or dinner there so I don't know what the food is like for these meals. This diner is my favorite in the area. I think that it's a very popular spot since it opened here a few years back. Breakfast is delicious! Lunch and dinner are also great. Service can sometimes be slow. That's really my only complaint about this place. Their desserts are amazing and tempt you as soon as you walk in. It's always crowded here and the staff is friendly. All I can say is wow and not in a good way. My family and I have been frequent diners but we will not be back!!! Tonight the waitress was awful had zero personality and was completely inattentive, the food was terrible, I've never had a more dried out piece of fish in my life and not one person in our party finished or wanted to take anything home tonight. Their prices have always been a bit on the high side but to pay what we did for the crap they served added insult to injury. When we went to pay the manager never asked how our service was....Don't know if they are under new management but I will definitely not set foot back there...do yourself a favor seek out an alternate dining experience and did I mention I am now home with nasty gi effects from the small amount of food I was even able to eat... stay away!!! read more

I wish there were more vegetarian options...this place is not great in the way of vegetables, and I wish they were not so flummoxed by requests for them. I did get a Calamari salad last time, which was very good, but was glad I got the dressing on the side, since I didn't like it at all. The desserts look amazing, and are on full display when you enter, although I've not indulged. But if you're looking for a place to just have dessert, I don't see how you can go wrong. The cons: It's a big place, but can still feel very crowded at times, especially on a Sunday morning. I've been here about 6 times, and I kind of like weeknights, when it's quieter. i was here the other night with my brother catching up. we were both craving something sweet late at night. We drove by just past 10p on a thursday night and the parking lot was pretty full so we decided to stop in and check it out. Being a fan of ice cream, I ordered a belgian waflle, with ice cream and fresh blueberries. The server was really nice and didn't waste any time getting our order put in. The chocolate milkshake I got was pretty good and not overly sweet like McD's. The mint chocolate chip milkshake my brother looked even better! The belgian waffle was okay. It wasn't bad but I would've preferred a slightly more crunchy and caramel taste. And real fruit does not equal "fresh" fruit. The blueberries were kinda dry and wrinkly looking, definitely not plump and fresh. I'll have to ask about the fresh fruit next time before ordering again. The vanilla ice cream was good and had real vanilla bean specks, yay! My brother's tuna sandwich was pretty good, it was my leftover the next day. Overall, my first experience here was just okay. Minella's in St.Davids/Wayne is still my favorite and more consistent preference when it comes to diners... read more
