Across the street is a great diner providing superb food and service for breakfast and lunch. The Microtel is undergoing some repairs and renovations. This did not interfere with the room or parking. The reception was polite and fast. I was able to get to my room shortly after arriving. I did notify the front desk that the 1st and 2nd floor stairwell fire doors were propped open (fire hazard). The room was clean but lacked outlets at first glance. After hunting we were able to plug in our electronics. The only maintenance issue had been the air conditioner which had the cover off. I was taking it down to the front desk when I noticed that the attachment points were intact. I returned to the room and re-attched the cover with no issue. The rest of the room was clean and serviceable. Some of the updates needed: more outlets to include usb ports, shower dispensers and soap dispensers by the sink, a plug or grate for the sink and lower intensity lighting. The dispensers would even reduce cost and waste. I would stay again.

While the property still has its classic charm, it feels like it hasn't kept up with the times. Many areas are beginning to show their age, and the overall experience felt a little worn. The restaurant was decent but didn't stand out. With some thoughtful renovations and updates, this hotel could truly shine again. I can't help but wonder if a larger hotel brand might one day invest in the property and restore it to its full potential. My wife booked the room for them and when he went to check-in, they tried turning him away since he lives in Cheyenne. it was only when he explained that he lived on base that they allowed him to check-in. The pool drain was clogged with hair and the hot tub wasn't working. All of which should've been explained when my wife booked the room and explained the situation to whoever took the booking. The bathtub was also filthy. They ended up just leaving and going back to the Airbase. Thanks for ruining their wedding night.

To the left is a large seating area for breakfast service. All day coffee and a business center are between the breakfast area and the elevators. An empty space past the breakfast area looks like future plans. A bar maybe? An outdoor area under a pergola is accessed from that empty space. This hotel is four floors. Hallways are carpeted. Indoor pool and gym are behind locked doors and not visible to hallway traffic. Guest rooms have wood floors and are decorated in a European, minimalist style. Every room is a suite. Our King room included an open closet area, a padded bench, dresser desk, sofa and two multi-purpose tables. The lower one was used as a bedside table but could also be a coffee table, while the taller one made a good spot for small luggage and bags. I also used it as a work space. Just inside the door are coat hooks, a full length mirror, fridge, microwave, coffee and ice services. The bed was comfortably firm with a variety of pillows. Duvet was soft and a nice weight for our July stay. Lamp and bedside table on one side of bed and a wall lamp over the multi-use table near the bed on the other side. Plenty of plugs on both sides of bed. Aircon controls are on the wall near the window. Windows have two rolling shades: 1 for privacy that lets in light, 1 room darkening that worked great. Desk is big enough for our needs. Plents of plugs there both in the base of the lamp and an additional on-desk adapter. TV is a good size for the room. Guests who are members have access to free wifi. Membership is free. Bathroom is a good size and clean with a nice shower stall enclosed by two rolling glass doors. Multi-use shampoo, conditioner and 'body lotion' (shower gel?) are mounted in shower. Water pressure is gentle. Not slow, just not fierce: gentle. Bath mat hangs on shower door. Light and fan are on seperate switches. Vanity is a good size, but there is no place to hang toiletry bags. Two drawers in vanity will hold your personal care items. Towels are stored under the vanity on a shelf. TP is there as well. One hook behind door on wall. Single use bar of hand soap and other items on vanity top. Breakfast included two large hot food pans: one with sausage patties and one with small omlettes. Add ins like salt, pepper and hot sauce were provided. Three cold cereal options looked like fruitloops, raisin bran plus one more. Instant oatmeal only. Bananas were green. Apple and orange juice and ice water were available. Two waffle stations were kn the buffet line. Two toasters are next with bread, english muffins and bagels along with muffins. Butter, peanut butter and jelly are on the counter, cream cheese and yogurt are in a fridge near the cereal. Plenty of paper plates and napkins plus plastic utensils on two of the counters. Bowls and plastic cups near the cereal and juice dispenser. Coffee is served from a machine. It is strong - even when selecting a medium brew. Hot water is at a 'ready to drink' temp so not hot enough to brew a proper cup of tea. Plenty of parking with permit spaces by the door and member parking by the lot entrance. Covered portico for loading and unloading. Public restrooms to the left of reception near elevators. Ice machine is in the elevator hallway on upper floors.

We booked…read morein advance for a room for 4 nights (reasonably priced), but when we arrived, all of the parking was occupied, and the awning was littered with motorcycles. We found out that, because many bikers were heading home from Sturgis, they got caught in the flash flooding and had to leave their bikes in the way while they stay the night. Not the hotel's fault, but we were left struggling to use the side door because they don't restrict overnight parking in front of the entrance. Inside, everything looked modern, which I don't know about you, but modern doesn't always look appealing to me. The people at the front desk were inconsistent: sometimes they were friendly and helpful, sometimes they were completely lost as if they were abandoned on their first day. Once we entered the room, the mesh desk chair was smeared with some sticky substance, and because every room was booked, we were stuck with it in the room. Otherwise, everything else was at least ok. We didn't have any issues with noise, even for being on the first floor. The included breakfast was adequate. They have coffee, chocolate milk, and juice; waffles, cereal, yogurt, bagels, etc. They have a pool--not cold but not quite "heated"--and while we were there, they had a volleyball and a football (unsure if the hotel owned them or if other patrons left them in there during their stay), but unfortunately no hot tub, basketball, or anything else. And in their fitness room, they have walking/running equipment as well as dumbbells (I think it ranged from 5 lbs to 50). All in all, it wasn't a nightmarish wreck. It just wasn't somewhere we'd return to given the numerous options throughout Cheyenne.

Everything was clean, and the bed felt comfortable. TV was of decent size with many channels. Free wifi was fast without issues. Lotion, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. There was a dedicated workspace and a microwave which we didn't use. My only minor complaint was the AC - we left it on Auto (to save the planet), but it didn't seem to be cooling down the room fast enough. I know others mentioned the train noises, but as a light sleeper, that didn't wake me up (the garbage truck at 4 am for the hotel next door did). Breakfast was meh..but I didn't even expect any complimentary breakfast, given the price paid for the room. Plenty of parking spaces (easy to navigate for a truck/trailer) at the hotel.
