Our regional cupcake nightmare is over! This location and the San Ramon location were purchased and are now open as of yesterday 2/12! OK To be honest I had no idea that they had closed. I stopped by in the afternoon 2/13 and the valentines cupcakes were already sold out. The cupcakes look and taste exactly the same. None of the self-checkout tablets were working and the menu screen wasn't ready to update what was sold out. otherwise - same experience as i remember. read more

ALL STORES PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF 12/31/25 The former founder just announced the closing of Sprinkles, which started in 2005. She also expressed surprise in the closing, and didn't think that "that's the way it would go", and actually said she expected that Sprinkles "would go on forever". So Interesting she would say that, given that she sold her company, or "sold out" to private equity in 2012 for whatever reasons. I have nothing against private equity. In fact, she achieved a dream that most entrepreneurs live for. Most in her situation would just peace out and enjoy a financially secure life, or rollover the liquidity event payout into another venture. But to say she expected the company to live on is naive, disingenuous or maybe she was just trying to frame her own narrative. Anyone who knows private equity knows how it works. The closings should absolutely come as no surprise to her. Either way, the founder should be super proud of her success. I've loved Sprinkles cupcakes! The quality remained the same even after the sale. I like their cupcakes so much more than Susie Cakes or Magnolia's (which has gone drastically downhill and was also sold to private equity). Interestingly, they were literally all set to open another store in Burlingame. Employees were given a one day notice in advance of loosing their jobs. THOSE are the people who should be really shocked by the closure. read more

Stopped here for a treat with my kiddos after some holiday shopping. I had never been here before but this place fit the bill for a " post shopping dessert reward ". It's a small shop that's adjacent to the parking lot at Stanford Shopping Center. We walk in and order at the kiosk. They had pictures of the cupcakes which was a nice touch. The ambiance was kind of bland m, nothing special. I did notice that they are really dog friendly. There were even cupcakes for dogs!!! Who would have thought?!? My kids got the same one - the vanilla sprinkled one and they gobbled it up quickly. I had a bit and it tasted like a lot of sugar to me but it was yummy! Something that would be nice would be to have some water available. We had to stop eating ours to go back to the car to get our water bottles. So if you come here and want to eat your cupcake on site make sure to bring some water (or milk if that's your jam!) If you are in the area I'd recommend to stop for a quick sugar fix but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come here. Overall 4/5 read more

I've always been a fan of Sprinkles, even before I became vegan. Now that I'm vegan, I still enjoy their cupcakes, even though we only have one option to choose from: vegan red velvet. In my opinion, the texture and icing are perfect, and the cupcake is tasty, moist, and not overly sweet. Since I don't have a huge sweet tooth, I usually eat half and save the other half for the next day, and it still tastes good then. This particular location is a small to-go shop. You either place your order at a screen, or grab your pickup from the shelf and go. I usually prefer ordering at touchpads, but for some reason, my experience here was too impersonal and mechanical. It's not a huge deal, but I kind of missed the "service with a smile" vibe. I also wish they would expand their vegan options. It would be great if they made at least one of their special rotating flavors vegan, like Salt & Straw. read more

It's been a while since I usually head to the San Ramon Sprinkles now since it was closer when I used to work in the area. We were heading to the Stanford Shopping Center to do some walking around and decided to pick up some Sprinkles cupcakes since we were there. Things are now a bit different again and you can go inside now, but ordering seems to be strictly though the two kiosks. So you might as well download the app and order on the app for pick up though maybe it's a bit faster if you're ordering inside with the kiosk. Not sure. Either way, we ordered at the kiosk, make sure you understand the packing process. If you're ordering 4, make sure to pick the box of 4 option and pick your flavors that way. I'm not sure what happens if you just keep picking individual cupcakes if they'd package it in a box if you reach a certain number or not. Initially, we just were picking cupcakes individually and my hubby was like oh, wait we want these 4 in a box and this one individually. I wonder if there's a way at the end to select the 4 you want in a box...again, lots of questions but we were able to figure it out in the end. It didn't take too long to get our cupcakes. There were spoons and napkins where we picked up. The atmosphere used to be so cheery and bustly when it first opened and now it's quiet and just a bit sad. Maybe it's just how things have changed over time. Still not a bad spot to pick up a cupcake treat. Just don't go during peak lunch time as parking can be a mess. Also the Pop Tart cupcake we got was actually quite good! Highly recommend trying it out. read more

I was turned away from the register and told others were ahead of me, despite there being no discernible line and no one waiting that was positioned near the counter. If there's a queuing system or informal order I wasn't aware of, I would have appreciated a clear, courteous explanation rather than being told I was out of turn with no guidance on where I should be. Wanted to stop by really quick after our dinner in the area and check out all the fuss about this spot. It is located in Stanford shopping center with plenty of parking in the vicinity. This place is the cutest. we were greeted warmly by the only staff working this evening Alxandra. She's got her hands full with the crowd she has but she still was warm, smiling and friendly greeting everyone that walks in. The place is clean and smelling really good from all the cupcakes which made me super excited to test them out. There was a lady that was giving Alexandra a hard time for no reason but she kept her composure and remained calm, collected and professional. And I commended her for it. I elected to order the Vietnamese coffee, the carrot and lemon blueberry. She was attentive and quick to pack them for me. The cupcakes tasted good however the icing on the cake was just a little too sweet for my taste but they were made great and I understand now why people seek them. read more

I tried the Vietnamese coffee cupcake flavor which I've never seen before. It actually tasted spot on and had a strong coffee flavor without it being too sweet. Walking around Stanford shopping center and stopped by for a cupcake. It's been a while since I've had sprinkles. Lots of classic flavors as well as rotating seasonal ones. I decided to go with Vietnamese coffee which was delicious with strong Vietnamese coffee flavored frosting and condensed milk flavored cream filling surrounded by chocolate cake. It was absolutely delicious but a bit pricey at 6.50 each. Service was quick and friendly and location was conveniently located on the outer rim of the Stanford mall. read more

Thankfully, there was a girl that was nice enough to let me know what the popular cupcake flavors were and gave me some good recommendations. There were no cashiers so I had to order through the kiosk at the front. I just wanted one cupcake to try so I got the black & white cupcake and it was delicious. The chocolate cake tasted rich, moist and tender. The vanilla frosting was really creamy and felt like it melted in my mouth. I thought the cupcake overall had the right amount of sweetness for me. This was probably one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. The place was really clean and organized. I don't think there was anywhere to sit inside but there was a bench outside. I wanted to order a birthday surprise for my husband so I was able to order a box of 4 the night before his birthday to guarantee his favorite flavors (triple cinnamon (a but too sugary for me but my husband loves it), strawberry (my favorite in the box), red velvet, banana). They added a custom message attached to the box, and a happy birthday sticker. When I arrived for pickup, I was able to quickly grab my bag and go as it was already paid for! So service was so quick! The place is clean, cute and fun and I was temped to buy more treats but was parked in a loading zone so had to go. It's in the Stanford Shopping center so there's lots of parking but this place was super packed on a Friday at 1230! There are option to customize the cupcake decorations for added cost. Wanted to update this review because of their Chef Series: Padma Lakshmi Luscious Mango flavor cupcake. I wanted to try it as soon as I saw some pictures on Instagram and was lucky to score one on a quiet day before it sold out. It is hands down one of the best flavors they've had to date and I hope they consider bringing it back beyond 11/22. It was perfectly sweet- the light mango cake was complimented perfectly with the mango curd and cinnamon and cardamom spiced yogurt frosting.
