If I were to average out my first clean 2/5 and my 2nd clean 6/5. Austin contacted me after my disappointment after my first clean and offered a free re-clean which I took him up on the offer. He made sure I had a senior cleaner (Jackie) and SHE WAS AWESOME! Jackie was soo nice and sweet and detail oriented. She cleaned much more and better than I would have imagined and also gave me some tips on how to clean my grout better if I were to do it myself. She spent well over an hour on my master bathroom scrubbing away at the soap scum in my hexagon shaped shower floor tile and it looks AMAZING. She made sure I inspected each area after she finished and moved onto the next area. I'm so happy with her and the job she did :). I still feel like Spruse should list what's part of a deep clean vs. a normal clean though. Not everyone knows what's a part of each clean so if they were more transparent I'm sure more people would be happier. Tip: Make sure you list everything you want cleaned before booking... I mean everything.. For example: Wipe all counters, mop floors, dust floor boards, get rid of cob webs, scrub all shower services, remove soap scum from glass, clean toilet bowl and outside, grout clean -- so anything you want cleaned put it all on or look up another well known site to see what they offer in their regular vs. deep clean and copy and paste it all down. If I plan on getting my house cleaned in the near future, I'm definitely going to do that and make sure I ask for Jackie. read more

I just asked out of office time if i can reschedule but there was no response so i leave it like that. And they are very unprofessional. They just send someone as per their own convenience. Even in the wake of an extraordinary scheduling conflict (through no fault of his own), Shaun went above and beyond to still get to my place and ensure the job could be completed that same day. I did have a time sensitive need for the service, so appreciated his efforts. The quality of the clean was great. I had stubborn shower markings that had been squatting for years - YEARS - that Shaun was finally able to evict. He did this by meticulous scrubbing and careful removal without scratching the shower itself. All in all, the clean was comprehensive and affordable. I've used their services twice now, once for our primary residence (3.5 stars) and again for our rental property (2.5 stars, hence the 3 stars overall). In general, I find their staff friendly but quite inexperienced. They also tend to overpromise and underdeliver. During our 2nd experience, the cleaner showed up 30 minutes after the arrival window. While waiting, I called our dedicated "support" agent for an update and got zero support or empathy. Because of these mediocre experiences with Spruse, I've since looked elsewhere. read more

Yelp says that cleaners will be wearing masks; no masks were worn. Yelp says that towel and mop heads will be separated for each job; there was no mopping. In fact, there was no dusting. When the cleaners arrived on 9/24/2021, we discussed the add-on of "walls" and at their suggestion we agreed to take that off the add-on list; they said they would follow up to ensure I received a refund. I noted this in my follow up email to Spruse on 9/24/2021 after their service; as of 10/11/2021 I have not been refunded the cost of this add-on. We paid $300+ for two people to come into my home and run a vacuum on my hardwood floors (dropping and banging the vacuum around). They also tripped a circuit and did not tell me. I was incredibly disappointed by the service and will not be using them again. 10-16-21 update: Spruse's response on Yelp misrepresents what happened. 1 We received no direction to call if the cleaners were not wearing masks. 2 We have not been refunded for the walls (which they never cleaned) nor anything else. 3 We were not offered 50% off the next clean. Hired them for their famous move in/out cleaning for a newly remodeled house barely used. They came 4h late and did a half-ass job. The oven stains still present, carpet stains as in, cob webs on edges all present just like we left. Total waste of $360 bucks, I could have vacuumed house myself instead. 5 months since this app started quick to take money, doesn't show for appointments, inconsistent, never did work and NO REFUND. Won't even return the calls to escalation team at BBB... You should avoid this company at all costs! Find a trustworthy, honest and good company. Local is not always best, as you can see in this case. ---- And for anyone interested it's been almost a month no refund no response to me or the BBB. A joke, be careful with this one. I had hoped to put this whole experience behind me, but with recent developments I feel it's important to share the rest of my experience so others can have fair warning about Spruse. In my last review, I mentioned that I had 0 contact from Spruse or support by 10:30am when I was scheduled for 8-10am. This is not entirely true: I did not receive any contact from Spruse or support until *12:00pm* when I received a patronizing email from a helpdesk agent stating that "Yes the booking slot is your arrival window :)" and "this is due to the labor shortages everyone's experiencing". Yes, I understand that there are labor shortages but when my billing statement says booked for 8-10am (not arrival from 8-10) you can imagine there could be a bit of confusion. Either way, rather than contacting the cleaner to check her status, the helpdesk agent asked *me* if the cleaner was there and working. I responded at 12:20 that she was indeed *not* at my house and *not* cleaning. The next message I get was at 1:45pm saying: "I'm so sorry - I'm reaching out to *cleaner name redacted* now." By this point, it was clear that the 'labor shortage' was a convenient excuse for poor business fundamentals and sheisty business practices; I wanted my money back and nothing to do with Spruse going forward. To their credit, I was given a refund that evening, (at 10:45pm after wrestling with support all day), and an offer for a free cleaning. I made it abundantly clear I didn't want anything to do with Spruse; I was happy to take the refund and move on from the situation. Imagine my surprise this morning when I get a billing statement from Spruse for a scheduled cleaning this upcoming Sunday. This is *really* bad customer experience, but whatever - I should be able to cancel the appointment from the app and delete my information so this doesn't happen again. Wrong! You can cancel the appointment, but there is no option to delete your account or remove your credit card information without going through support. To recap: 1. Your billing statement on Spruse says you're booked for a time slot (not an arrival window) but you get an arrival window 2. The phone support line goes to an unmarked voicemail box 3. Support takes almost 4 hours (after the *end* of the booking window) to contact my cleaner and see what they're up to 4. I get billed for a service that I have explicitly stated I have no interest in using ever again, 11 days after the fact 5. You can't delete your account or your CC information from the website 6. The company blames everything on 'labor shortages' rather than poor management and business fundamentals, uses bad UX patterns to sucker people into continuing their service. So please, please, if you're looking for cleaners, do NOT use Spruse. They are borderline fraudulent and it is not worth your time or energy to save a few bucks off of local / independent cleaning operations. read more

Rescheduled clean 10/21: Two cleaners came, Nicole and someone who didn't share her name. Overall the clean was good, Nicole did an excellent job in the bathroom and very friendly. The other wasn't so good , didn't clean the inside of the oven (got my refund after) but I was expecting this to be cleaned. Also didn't clean the front of the oven, where the knobs and buttons are. There were some very obvious missed in the kitchen and bathroom as well. Overall the clean was ok, 3 stars only Bc the main bathroom was done very well by Nicole, if I use this service again I'd just request for Nicole. read more

First of all, she never finished the kitchen!!! She only wiped down one drawer and 5 cabinet panels out of the entire kitchen. There are a lot more drawers and the rest of the kitchen cabinets panels to be cleaned. She's only done about 1/5 of the kitchen at the most. She didn't clean the floors nor even make it to the TWO BATHROOMS. The fact is that she lied and said she will go to Home Depot and come back with extra help. Furthermore, I've clearly outlined what was to be done as soon as she stepped on my property, and she acknowledged it. Again, I was working no more than 10 feet away from her the entire time. I schedule a move out clean with Spruse. They were very thorough and quick to respond and schedule my apt when needed and were also very flexible when I needed to reschedule. I received a text to confirm my apt the night before and then received a text from the cleaner Sophia very early the morning of asking if she could start early. I was completely fine with that. Upon meeting the cleaner at the house she let me know that she only had about 4-5 hours total to clean and couldn't get to several things (wiping walls/baseboards). I thought this was maybe my fault and that I didn't select the correct dirtiness level to give her enough time so I said OK. After coming back the next day I found MANY things not cleaned. The floors, underside of the toilet, side of the sinks/cupboards etc along with the walls and baseboard (previously made aware of). All things that were included in the move out that I had already paid for. I reached out to the contact I had for scheduling and let them know which she shared that the cleaner actually had 8 hours to clean the house and that it should have been perfect. They definitely did the right thing by sending a senior tech to finish the work which she did and it looked great. All of that to say, I don't think I would use them again especially for such an important cleaning but do appreciate them sending someone back out to finish the job. read more

They're good when they can send a cleaner. However they do not track if a cleaner doesn't show up and don't even proactively help with rescheduling in case there were last minute issues with the cleaners. While I completely understand that schedules can change for cleaners, the lack of mechanisms to catch, inform and fix for this is not a pleasant experience. I had 3 out of the last 4 scheduled cleanups missed and the 4th one also was saved because I reached out proactively to ask who would come. read more

Worst cleaning service ever! They can't be reached over phone. Everything has to be over email. I got carried away with the reviews and the stars. I had the bad experience ever. The cleaner came in late and I had to check every room and every corner after she says she cleaned it. Just to make sure it is all cleaned as she either forgets cleaning a corner or says she wasn't aware of the service I chose and was not notified that she should clean it. It's absolutely painful to be behind her and get things done over the email. She left saying she couldn't get the stain of the shower and when I contacted the company they mentioned they would send a top expert to extract the stain. Firstly the person dint show up on the scheduled date, comes in four days later, cleans just the tub and talks arrogantly when I was trying to tell him that he was supposed to clean the shower and mentions that I have been using the shower since the last lady cleaned. I don't understand why I can't use the shower meanwhile. Absolutely no respect for the customer. Finally if you are looking for a routine/normal cleaning they are fine, but if you need a deep cleaning DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME with them. read more

I picked Spruse cleaning because of their amazing Yelp reviews and loved that you could book online. I may be the only person in Seattle that has had a horrible experience with them. It's not the cleaning themselves but the costumer service. I signed up for a cleaning once a month on Tuesday. When using a cleaning service it requires you to plan things out because you want to be out of the apartment. Next month rolls around and it's Tuesday evening I was sitting waiting for 45 minutes for my cleaner to show up. Finally I emailed Austin and he told me that they wouldn't be coming until Wednesday. There was no communication to let me know that my day had changed or anything! I get things happen but at least give the costumer the heads up! Tonight I had my monthly cleaning that was supposed to be from 4pm -6pm so I made appointments during that time. Austin texted me today and said that someone would be there at 5pm. It was obvious that they had the wrong time so they called the cleaner to rush there who was at another house. I felt bad when the cleaner called me and told me he would be there around 4:30 because he was finishing floors at another house and it'd take 25 minutes to get to me. I felt bad because it wasn't his fault just an scheduling error. We all know how horrible Seattle traffic is and I get that. Wish they'd improve their commutation and costumer service to their costumers. There are a TON of choices in Seattle and getting your house clean shouldn't add extra stress to your life. read more

I've been using Spruse for over 3 years now and while I do feel that the actual cleaning is good, I've had more than a few instances in which cleaners never showed up. It's happened probably 6 times at this point, sometimes with zero communication. We arrange our days around the cleanings and make plans around those days. So when no shows happen (most recently, there was a no-show to the follow up to the initial no-show) it affects our entire day. I understand it's a pandemic, but this was happening before the pandemic as well (just not as frequently). I wish I could maintain the 5 stars for them, but the quality in customer service has noticeably dropped the past few years to the point where I'm going to look for another more reliable service. This review is going to be honest and straightforward. First Things First, Austin is very communicative, prompt in his responses, and provides assurance positively to prospective customers. In fact, from a business perspective, he is the single point of contact. I originally scheduled the move-out clean on 12/27 but was taken aback because the Cleaner did not show up. I waited for the entire arriving window (2 hours) but to no avail. My harsh email to the Spruse support was immediately caught by Austin who called me up directly and helped rescheduled at a definite time the next day (today, 12/28) and also offered to provide a discount to make up for that experience. Coming to the cleaning: Shannon was scheduled for me. Like Austin, she was communicative too. She drove from really a far place so the delay was acceptable (she texted me too). She wore a mask, carried all the supplies, and even went out to get bleach for some rigid scuffs in the bath. She spent the promised 3.5 hours and did her job. I visited once in the middle of the cleaning and she showed me around whatsoever was complete by then. Since I had to leave I requested her to send photos, she asked me for details about how she can lock the apartment when she is done too. She did sent me the photos after the cleaning and the apartment looks neat. Will I book with Spruse again? Yes, but not on weekends :) I hope my next booking will be easier. Spruse is a great idea that has been very poorly executed. This is based on using Spruse several times, so I know what I'm talking about. There's a chance that the cleaner will be at your place and everything will work out great. There's an equal chance that the cleaner won't show up. If that happens, Spruse provides no working customer service number, and they are extremely slow to reply to support emails. I have now been left hanging several times by Spruse, and will not be using them again. Hopefully another service will launch that does the same thing as Spruse but better. read more

The cleaning service is decent but need to pay attention that they only clean for 2 hours. No matter how many rooms or services you booked, they only clean for 2 hr. And be prepared that the cleaning crews will come very late in the timing window. Also, they will expect you to clear up the spaces before they do the cleaning. The invoicing system is a bit weird (which seems to use an Asian based UI because the time of the invoice was from the future!) and my credit that I picked up through yelp didn't apply. That said, the cleaner Douglas was a nice guy and seemed to do a solid job in the house. He called me before he arrived which was helpful and was respectful when I needed to go in a bit early to grab some things for my son. I will give them another shot until I have a reason not to. I am absolutely blown away by this company. I reached out to Austin via Yelp by submitting a request and he was so quick to respond. I was able to share the details of the type of cleaning we would need to have done and he was on top of providing me exact details of what they could do, how much time would be needed, and the final costs. I appreciate this company for not only being clear and concise in their capabilities, but also the thoroughness in communication and the transparency in pricing. I did not once feel like I was not going to get what I needed. Come to the day of the clean and my cleaner had not shown up during the assigned window. I gave a quick call over to Spruse and Austin answered promptly and went to find out what was going on...turns out traffic had slowed down the cleaner who was assigned to us. Without hesitating, Austin called me back and updated me on the situation and let me know that he and the co-owner Brian were on their way. They apologized for the inconvenience, but truly no apologies were needed as traffic happens to all of us! :) On to the actual clean - holy cow was this thorough. A bit of background - we had done some renovation and our place was quite dusty. In particular, the bathrooms were a catastrophe. Not only did Austin and Brian thoroughly clean the bathrooms, they also asked us to check it out to make sure they got everything and to describe areas they tried to get out (totally not their fault they couldn't get some of the dirty areas out as they came with the place). They went the extra mile and made sure all baseboards were cleaned and even the cabinets were dusted. They even cleaned the fans, windows, and fireplace for us. My experience with Spruse is now my new bar for what true customer service is. We will absolutely use them again in the future. If you've shopped around and hoped to find better prices or experiences, I assure you we did too. I am so glad we ended up going with Spruse. The absolute worst cleaning service I've ever used. I had a friend that told me they were terrible, but felt like it was a good deal with the coupons they offer. If you live in an apartment complex, stay away from these guys. They will charge you over $100 and then will not respond when they do an awful job. I would give negative stars if I could. We booked Spruse because of their great reviews on Yelp but found that the service we got didn't match the reviews and experience other customers were touting. We prepaid ahead of time which should have been the first red flag and we even paid for extra services like appliances, cabinets, blinds, and patio. The service was for a 1brm/1ba 700 sq ft apt at $250. The unit was already empty and had a pre-clean with brand new carpets so no vacuuming needed, I just needed a professional polish on hard surfaces for new renters. The cleaning personnel...one guy...arrived at 10am. I dropped by at 12pm and found that not much had been done. He didn't seem to really know what he was doing as he was inefficiently using a toothbrush to clean something in his hand. When I asked about the list of items we requested to focus on he said he didn't have supplies to clean the patio and that he'd be done soon. I called Spruse to let them know that one of the main services I requested couldn't be addressed and Austin(?) said he'd come out personally to check/ensure the supplies would be available to complete the job by 4pm. I came back after work and found that the only thing cleaned was the top of the stove and the tub, but the patio was still filthy and there was still dust apparently visible. I called Spruse again and let them know that the cleaning I paid for wasn't done. He said that he'd send his best employee, Jackie, to re-touch and make sure we were happy with the service. I came back the next day after the 2nd person had cleaned and only the dust above the cabinet over the stove was addressed. It makes no sense how they got so little done in 6hrs (10am-4pm) when there wasn't that much to do. I ended up having to clean it myself (complete inside of the stove, sticky cabinet doors above the stove, dust around the toilet/walls in bthrm, all the blinds and windows, had to retouch paint that they scratched off, scrubbed hardwood floors - weren't touched at all by cleaners) after paying someone to essentially do nothing. On my first clean, a very inexperienced man came out to clean our homes. He did a rotten job. He broke my wall hanging clock and dropped my portable heater into the sink or toilet as it was soaking wet after he left and not working. I didn't say anything to Austin. I should've moved them. I contacted Austin indicating I liked him and I welcome him back but changed my mind after doing a thorough inspection. It was amusing to watch a 6'1" man clean. I was told he had more experience than what the cleaner actually had (was his first week with Spruse). Then came Jackii. She's a sweetheart but not a serious cleaner. I sent a bunch of photos to Austin (Mar.14, 2019) saying she didn't do a good job on her 3rd clean and that I didn't want to use Spruse anymore. His response was "I completely understand. I'll cancel your subscription for any further cleans/charges." Although I didn't want another cleaner from them (actually 3 cleaners) I was thinking he may try to retain my service by offering a refund or offer up another stellar cleaner (himself?) I'm sure something was going on as Jackii was yawing and moved very slowly (luckily not an hourly clean). Good luck to her, but when I ask to focus on the floor for the times she was here and I get nothing but dirty floors, I didn't want to ask her to stay longer considering she had a personal appointment to go to. Very frustrated with cleaners these days. Cleaning companies will hire anyone off the streets without knowing/testing their true skills. Austin responds, but communication was frustrating with him.
