ZERO STARS. I ordered the egg, cheese, and bacon bagel with extra bacon. The sandwich was cold, no cheese, and had literally 4 tiny SCRAPS of bacon. When I said they forgot extra bacon, they said they put it on without looking. I'd hate to see a sandwich without extra bacon. Then when I asked for cheese and to warm it up, she ripped the cheese by hand, tossed it on the sandwich and just gave it back. I returned my sandwhich, I wouldnt feed that to my dog. An extremely smelly homeless man was inside eating all the sugar, which also chased off any appetite I may have had left. No one wants to smell a rank oder while eating. Substantial, tasty donuts. I feel like these days a good donut is hard to come by. Grocery store offerings tend to be dry and lacking in flavor and chains like Dunkin' Donuts and Winchell's just aren't what I remember them being as a kid. I'm not sure if it's because ingredients and recipes have changed or my own tastes have become more discerning. Something isn't clicking, though, and for all the calories and sugar in a donut it needs to satisfy. Enter Spudnuts. I hadn't tried these until a few weeks ago and I'm already developing a habit. These are good, very good donuts. The potato flour (and/or some other magical stuff) gives them a density other donuts just don't have. The glazing is just right, neither wet and runny nor dry and cracked. A+ ratings on freshness and flavor for the regular glazed donuts, cake donuts, and cinnamon rolls. I'm keen to try their version of a cronut but it's been sold out so far. UPDATE: So the cronut was a fail, and the cream puffs were also not my favorite. Stay away from this place. It's not worth the buck. I asked for 1 donut that cost 3.50, which the employee ended up giving me 2 without my consent and charging me for it. Probably one of my favorite places to eat a sandwich or get a donut. Every time I come the always have great display and the smell of fresh coffee. Personally, I always get the ham egg and cheese croissant sandwich & it always comes out so warm and melted, it is so tasty! .However, compared to the pastry's the boba drinks and smoothies are okay. They a don't have everything that is on their menu which isn't a minor issue but just something to keep in mind If your coming specifically for the boba. Spud nuts has a great variety of donuts and other pastries. I wish I could eat more than just one so I could try lots of stuff, but one donut from Spudnuts is very filling for me. The donuts here are particularly heavy. I prefer light, fluffy donuts so I can eat at least two before feeling too full. However, I think the donuts at Spudnuts are fried in too much oil, making them soggy (let it sit on a napkin for a while, and you'll see how much oil comes out) and heavy. read more

I've been here twice in the last two weeks with my husband and this is by far my favorite place to get donuts. The variety is good, the cinnamon rolls are as big as my head and whenever the person ringing us up tells us the price I'm always amazed. You can walk out with a lot and hardly spend any money. First off, we passed this place multiple times since I'm not from the area and there wasn't much signage of whats in the shopping center or street signs. Got to the place and my boyfriend really wanted to try their new special donuts but this one only had the usual donut flavors. We also wanted to get boba there too but the employee had told us that their boba was old and their ice machine wasn't working so the only drinks she could make were the milk tea and a thai tea (both in my preference need ice). With a name like Spudnuts I guess I was expecting something a little different. A donut of a new variety if you will. So I was surprised when I walked in and saw a very typical donut shop. Not that I let that stop me from ordering two donuts however. I got a maple bar and a chocolate cake donuts - gotta try both a raised and a cake, you know. They were very good donuts, I'll say that. They didn't have a potato taste or anything but they were light and fluffy. 4 stars because the spudnuts are fantastic, but the service was "meh". I entered the store and no one even smiled or said hello. Even upon making eye contact about 30 seconds later they did not smile or seem happy to see anyone. After the finished taking and accepting payment for the order of the guy in front of me, I stood around for about 90 seconds before they even acknowledged me to take my order, and when I paid they just pushed things back and forth - grab my card, swipe it, toss it back at me, etc. I didn't feel appreciated or that they cared if they had any customers or not. However, given that, I would still definitely come back. Although spudnuts don't taste that different than a regular donut, they do have a much fluffier texture and are just so darn good! This place is a Santa Barbara institution. The apple fritter is a MUST every time I'm in the area (which thankfully isn't very often, else I'd be putting on some serious lbs). The food is fresh and amazing, great selection of coffees, and wonderful friendly owners. It's a hidden jewel and it's not too costly. Fresh Baked Goods are so deliscious. I've been coming here for years and finally had the pleasure of taking some family and friends, who live out of town, and they were very impressed with the food and the service of the owners.
