We loved our experience at the new Vernon location! Awesome U-shaped bar and great entertainment. The pizza and wings were delicious, and they have great happy hour deals. The highlight of our experience was our bartender Kimbo! She makes great drinks with a smile, and was very attentive. And really the whole staff was great, especially considering they just opened very recently and still working through all the kinks that come with opening a new establishment. I ordered takeout large sausage, pepperoni and bacon pizza. I was disappointed. It was very expensive for very little. For $28, I was expecting a really good pizza with a generous amount of toppings. The box was so light, I stopped on the way out and opened it to cofirm there was a pizza inside. The pizza was very thin. The toppings were almost non existent. There might have been 5 or 6 thin pieces of pepperoni spread over the pizza and several small pieces of sausage. I couldn't find the bacon. A very thin swipe of tomato sauce and a small sprinkle of mozzarella cheese was about it. It was burned. The bottom and crust had patches of black charcoal. The crust was not edible. The burned portion of the pizza left a charcoal residual on the plate. Never again. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Got 2 small pizzas and fried mozz. The mozz was over-fried. All the cheese had run out and all three pieces were empty shells with a bitter-burned flavor. The pizzas were substandard as well as they were both too burnt on the bottom (sheets of black char was falling off) and it just overpowered the rest. I like the char on other thin crusts, but this was too much. Maybe I'll try again in a few months when they get things figured out. read more

We visited on Friday for late night happy hour and were disappointed to hear that Derek is no longer employed at the restaurant. We go to Square Peg almost weekly, and have been going to this location since they opened. Save your money-Don't go! Ordered the Buffalo Chicken pizza- toppings were sparse. On some pieces non-existent. Waitress didn't even say sorry. (Deception #1) The lemoncello Pie lack lemoncello - not good. (Deception #2) The gelato was served in an "optical illusion" glass - It made it seem like there was more product than it actually was. (Deception #3) We had a coupon that gave a 50% discount on a second pizza. Except it did not apply to the Detroit style pizza. Nothing on the coupon nor was anything said when we ordered. Food was good but took forever to get it, so loud you could hardly hear yourself talk and the waiter did not know what the nightly beer selection was. My boyfriend & I visit regularly with this location. On our very first night we had our first encounter with the wonderful bartender Derek. Every time we visited he made us feel so welcomed and laugh constantly. I then visited St. Patty's last month and was told he got let go... it really makes me sad knowing I don't have a reason to come here anymore. I rarely write reviews but the food from this establishment was so outstandingly abysmal that I had to write something. My wife and I ordered through Ubereats. We ordered a Detroit style pizza, which to begin with was outrageously expensive, $ 28.00 for a 9 x 12 rectangular pie. Here's what we got. Burnt pepperoni on the top and almost raw dough in the middle. Inedible. When I called to complain to the manager he actually told me that the pepperoni had to be burnt so the pizza could be baked - but it wasn't - wet dough in the center. My wife ordered a ceasar sald with grilled chicken. The salad and the chicken came in separate containers. The chicken was also inedible.It tasted as if the "chef" sprinkled an entire box of salt on it. When I called to ask for my money back the manager was quite obliging but told me that because I placed the order with Ubereats I'd have to call them for a refund. I did that ( their customer service number is 800-253-9377) Ubereats just wanted a photo of the food we were unhappy with, which I sent to them. I was told that I would recieve a refund in 7 -10 business days. It is now seven days since this debacle and have not received my refund but I assume that it will be coming. My refund will come to me a lot faster than I will ever do business with Square Peg Pizzeria. Beware !!! read more

It really bums me out to see so many 1 star reviews prior to the actual grand opening of this place. Those reviews will stay long after they work out their kinks. I can understand some of the management complaints but to complain about wait times and food is ridiculous. People have zero idea how difficult it is to open a new place with new staff. We've been to this location twice since the actual opening and got to go. Both times food was ready on time when I arrived and hot. The pizza is good w a doughy thin crust. Great flavor to the crust too. I got a salad both times. Ceaser, which was great w big fresh croutons and the house which was good but the red wine vinaigrette was not tasty. I got a chicken cutlet grinder and it was good. I'd prefer they wrap it w foil as it kinda steams a little in the plastic to go container. But the bread still held up. Can't speak for in house dining but both times they got it spot on for us to go. We will be back for sure. read more

My family and I have have been to this location before and have been happy with the food and service, but not so much last night. The bartender was more concerned with his friends/co workers, instead of focusing on his paying customers. First of all, let me say that the meatball grinder I ordered was absolutely delicious, quite possibly the best on I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of them. The side Caesar salad was disappointing: the dressing and the croutons were basically flavorless, but I wasn't there for the Caesar salad, so, ok. The meal was very expensive for what I got, but I don't let prices bother me as long as I get what I want, and in this case I did. The servers themselves were excellent, but the service was sloooowwww. If I were there with a group of people, perhaps I wouldn't have minded, but I was by myself and all I wanted was to have my meal served up quickly. This is not Rao's, and they should speed things up. My biggest gripe was the DJ that showed up at noon. This was a Sunday when the place was almost empty, not a Friday night happy hour when the place is jammed, but he played the music at a volume that basically ruined the rest of my meal. Once the music started, all I wanted to do was get out of there. I also couldn't help noticing that the few other customers were basically forced to shout at each other just to converse. Like I said, if I were a thirty-something with a bunch of friends on a Friday night looking to pound down a few drinks and eat some pizza, that would be one thing; but I'm not thirty-something and it wasn't a Friday night. We drove by, and the name caught our eye. The atmosphere was interesting large center bar and tables and a few booths. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and were given a mason jar of fried salted spaghetti's to snack on, interestingly yummy! We decided to share our food choices , a house salad with ranch dressing (tasted homemade), a little overdressed but it was delicious. Next came the Detroit style half pepperoni and cheese pizza!! Wow, crispy cheesy edges, doughy, cheesy and gooey! The only disappointment was the pepperoni was clumped together so most didn't have that charred flavor and texture that we were looking for. Went here tonight for dinner around 6:45 or so. Sat down at the bar with my wife. The bartender brought us some room temperature city water served over ice rather quickly and accepted our beverage order. For the next 10 minutes, my wife and I sat at the bar trying to figure out if we needed to scan a QR Code to see the menu. Finally the bartender came over to us and said "you want food?" as though it was unexpected that we would, during typical dining hours. This was the moment he realized we would need menus to further progress in our visit. Another 10 minutes or so passed before he returned to take our order. We were sitting next to a couple that had ordered the Cheesy Garlic bread as an appetizer and it looked enticing, so we decided to start our meal with an order as well. We also ordered a small Bianco and a small Figgy Piggy. More than a handful of minutes later both pizzas arrive though we had not received our cheesy garlic bread. I pointed out to the bartender that we did not get our appetizer and would like to cancel it, to which he replied "that's been happening tonight." I find that response utterly useless. Are we to be sympathetic to his plight? Is that a concern of ours? No. Moments later we saw the bartender tell the manager on duty about the mishap. It was very nice of the manager to stare at us from afar before scurrying back towards the arcade games to a location where he seemed to be spending the majority of his time. Around this same time, the woman sitting next to us, kindly took it upon herself to yell across the bar to summon the bartender to provide us with plates to eat our dinner off of. By now our pizzas had grown tepid, as they had sat in front of us for several minutes.(the pizzas were very well made) This was also when we received our silverware and napkins. The bartender was kind enough to place all of these things so closely to the inside of the bar that I had to lean out of my chair to retrieve them for my wife and I. This trip was very disappointing. We will continue to patronize Square Peg, but will exclusively be dining at the Glastonbury location, which we frequent, as our time is better spent there. The Vernon location could learn a lot from its Glastonbury counterpart. read more
