I have a condo near Squid Lips and have eaten there many times. I want to like Squid Lips since it is close but the food is just terrible!! They have a great sunset and most of the bands are good but they just cannot get the food right. We've tried many items and it is never ever good. For example, the lobster and crab cakes were very greasy and they got the salads wrong. We even tried simple things like chicken wings and queso dip and wouldn't you know they, too, were terrible. The sauce on the wings was too thick and heavy and quite frankly didn't taste good while the queso dip also was too thick, like a paste consistency, and was room temperature at best. They need to narrow their menu and focus on food QUALITY not quantity! read more

To highlight that service, I'd like to direct patrons to Justin (not intending to diminish the others, as I have nothing but positive things to say about them). Justin is attentive, knowledgeable, articulate, and perhaps the most friendly and kindest server I have known. I am from Ohio and I can find bars with $2-3 beers. Squid lips in cocoa beach has the best beer prices and food in general that I have had since I got here. I am currently staying in Orlando and yes I drove and hour to come here. read more

This place is very well thought out after the remodel of the old Lobster Shanty. The added a huge deck which overlooks the river and a beautiful dock. The only thing they left out was boat parking which they soon plan to fix. As for the food it was as expected very good just like the Melbourne location. As for the draft beer which really cost little to nothing one would expect more than a 12oz cup for 3.75!!! And for the life of me I can't figure out when theses places have live music the band has to crank it up so loud you have to scream to have a conversation as well as order food? The renovations looked pretty good but it was not complete- we were a bit disappointed that we could not sit in the new deck. The food was very mediocre and the steamed vegetables were overlooked. Restaurant not very clean but decided to be seated anyway. Sent back conch chowder because of two hairs however it was so hot and spicy could not even taste any flavor except spicy hot. Conch in fritters was miniscule and had consistency of gristle. The stuffed flounder was floating in butter and had to salt heavily to have any flavor at all. Sorry squid lips but even though the staff was great the food was below average. Scallop basket had some awesome pieces and then some very fishy ones. The conch chowder was just okay and we were actually glad we only ordered a cup and not a bowl. The rating would have been 3 except my last sip from my water glass showed me that I had been served a dirty glass. Then we checked the other water glass and it was dirty too so they were glad they got a beer. And for those reviews that mention the awesome deck it is closed for seating but you can walk outside. After bragging to my family about the food and service at the Melbourne Squid Lips I was extremely disappointed with the lack of service at the Orlando Ave Cocoa Beach Squid Lips. With the exception of 1 lady, the staff were stoic and nonchalant. We waited more than 45 minutes before leaving. We left because the staff walked by us continuously but did not communicate with us while we waited, did not provide menus before I asked for them, did not offer water or take our drink order and did not apologize for the long wait at anytime. We had 14 people in our party including 6 kids but they ignored us. I've never had such a horrible experience at a restaurant before yesterday. That was the first and last time visiting the Cocoa Beach Squid Lips. I hope the owner send the Melbourne staff to train the staff in Cocoa Beach or hire new people. read more

We had high hopes dashed by poor food preparation and quality. Our conch appetizer was excellent and if we had stopped there, this review would have been much better. Our Thai Mahi was a little off taste and the small amount of sauce was more like teriyaki than peanut satay, as described on the menu. The flounder was good, but again lacked sauce. The scallop basket contained either a composite scallop substance or imitation scallop. The drinks were good. If forced to eat here again, I would stick to the drinks and appetizers. read more

I'm giving this one star because that's the lowest I can give. Was recommended to go here by the hotel we were staying at. Terrible choice. My daughter got the wrong food, but tried to eat it anyway. Was very bad. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. By far the worst Cuban I have ever had. Service wasn't much better, maybe worse. Ordered a beer when sitting down and took a miracle to get one more before I left the place. I really should have walked out without paying it was that bad. We had heard good things about this place but our experience fell below our expectations. My husband and I came here for date night tonight and we were seated in a booth right at the entrance to their bar. Nice to see all the loud and obnoxious people rolling in and out of there past our table all night. There were quieter places in the dining room (we were the only ones there tonight) so I'm not sure why this was where they put us. Our server was nice but new. We have her a nice tip because everybody starts somewhere. The seating and server were okay but the food was what fell below our expectation. $30 for a market price grouper it was okay. Not fantastic. The vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a can and the conch fritters were mostly bread and we couldn't find any conch. We had a great night at squids tonight. It was their second night of a new opening. We ordered cracked conch, fish fingers, blue cheese tater chips and fried calamari for four of us. It was all super good and we were stuffed after eating it all. The entertainment was Buck Barefoot. He's a must see. The food and drink menus were ok. Lots of fried food on the menu, even items that are not traditionally fried, like fish tacos. Happy hour drinks were heavy with alcohol, which was a pleasant surprise. We had a party of 7 and had very simplistic orders. I ordered calamari as my appetizer and then steamed clams as my entree. My appetizer came out with everyone else's meals. When we got our food 3 of us didn't get ours, including my clams. When our food finally came out I was brought steamed oysters. Our waitress only came to our table twice. She did not get us refills we had to walk up to the bar to get refills. The manager came over just to see how we were doing and when we told him he was kinda rude and had an attitude. I love Squidlips. They have great drinks and drink specials. There food is always delicious! This was our first visit to this location. While the service and food were outstanding, the restaurant itself was disappointing. We were excited to go and sit at the outside bar overlooking the water. Unfortunately due to restrictions they are not allowed to have an outside area. There was no way to really appreciate the beautiful location from stuck inside the building. The interior colors look like a baby nursery with baby pink with baby blue. The music was 80s music. I really love the feel of squidlips melbourne. It feels like vacation. We tried again this weekend and they once again said outdoor dining was closed and it has been for the last 3 months. Reluctantly we agreed to eat inside. He did not feel comfortable sending it back, and I normally would agree that it has to be extremely bad, and way over priced, so I insisted.. the waitress had just been to our table before I knew how bad it was,, so I asked the bus boy to please get our waitress.. we waited a good long while and she didn't show up .. so I flagged down another waitress. she took forever to finally get someone to tell it was bad .( I heard the bus boy tell her that he couldn't find our waitress so he just did nothing.! they did not even give us the choice of something else.. they just made a new one,when it finally made it to the table, and was almost as bad as the first one ... he ate what he could ..the manager, no matter how nice she tried to be about the whole thing .. did not even ask if the second one was better !!! they tried to comp us a desert, but instead we requested a glass of wine they did that .. .. we had a couple of bad experiences not too long ago at the Squid Lips in Melbourne .. we will not be getting food there again ... 3 times you're out!!! read more

On 7/3/16, we decided to go to Squid Lips for the first time. We had a party of six and the food and service was awful. One person in my party ordered Black Cherry Pork and the waitress came to the table approx 15 minutes later to say they ran out of that dish. About 5 minutes later she came back to the table informing two of our guests that they also ran out of garlic mash potatoes. We ordered a round of drinks and the rum and coke came with olives and the martini did not. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and when it arrived at the table the bottom had been burned and so black it was hard as a rock and not edible. I asked the waitress to please ask the cook to make another one and we will take it to go. After waiting a very long time, we asked a waiter to find the waitress because we wanted to leave to see the fireworks. She appeared about 5 minutes later with the check and the same burned sandwich just wrapped up to go. We asked her to keep the sandwich and remove it from the bill which was done. With all of the delays, bad service and awful food we missed the fireworks. Truly one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. read more

This restaurant used to be Lobster Shanty before it became Squid Lips. so this was our first visit to Squid Lips ever. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday and to use a groupon I had purchased. Arriving before 6:00 pm, there was no wait time and Jason showed us to our table, which looked out over the river. We were really surprised....they completely remodeled the place and built a big deck on the back. Sarah was our server, very pleasant with a big smile. We ordered drinks and the fried calamari.. Drinks were great, and the calamari was FANTASTIC!! My husband ordered the shrimp and jalapeno grits and I ordered a a tilapia dish. Both were very good, but nothing to write home about. The garlic potatoes were not seasoned well and the vegetables were overcooked. I talked to Jason about the side dishes and he said sometimes it was a "hit or miss". Baked potatoes were not an option and I should have opted for the rice. I think that I would have preferred a salad instead of the mixed vegetables. They presented my husband with a complementary peanut butter pie and a candle....a lovely touch. Would we go back to this restaurant, YES, if only for the fried calamari and be sure to come early. After 6:30 - 7:00 pm it gets very busy! read more
