We ordered Sr Ceviche for takeout. we went to go pick it up, and when we paid for the order, the screen prompted us for a tip. The only option that it gave us was 22% tip. When I asked the girl if there was a option for 15% tip, she told me no. I have never experienced something like this. I have never been forced to tip for picking up my own food as well. If you haven't gone you need to go and try their ceviche. They have red, yellow, green and classic. They have a great environment in a small plaza but space for both small and large parties. Could this be? It's as if I found a magical unicorn in the BPB. Will I be able to get my ceviche fix on without having to travel across county lines? You damn right I can. In search of a good Peruvian spot since I moved to Plantation - most places have unfortunately come up short. However, last week I came across Sr. Ceviche, read the reviews - and called in an order. We got two orders of Ceviche (Classico) and 2 orders of Papa a la Huancaina. I kid you not...my mouth is watering as I am typing this. The Papa a la Huancainas were PERFECT. The potatoes were fine but if you've had this dish you know it's ALL about the sauce! This sauce was outstanding - and plentiful. Each potato was drenched in the sauce and there was still enough left over that I scooped it up with the lettuce that it lay on and devoured that too. Yea, go on...judge me...then order this and remember me when you do the same exact thing! At $6 it's a reasonably priced appetizer that could be shared - but really, order two...it's that good. The ceviche was also phenomenal. My main gripe with ceviche is that it's usually super expensive and the portions are tiny! When I picked up the order one bag was SUPER heavy and the other one was fairly light. I thought to myself, "Man, I hope this heavy one isn't the potatoes!" Surprisingly, it wasn't! The ceviche portion was really large with a ton of fish, the large kernel corn, onions and some roasted corn kernels. We got not too spicy and it had the perfect amount of kick. For the first time ever I took a sip of the juice when I was done - "Leche De Tigre" - because it was THAT GOOD! The staff was also super helpful! From taking the orders over the phone, to us calling back to add the potatoes, to then arriving and picking up the order they were always friendly and smiling. The place inside isn't massive, and there was only one table occupied. I'm assuming I came in before the dinner rush. 5 star rating for the cerviche, 3 star rating for the rest of the food. If you love cerviche, I would highly recommend coming to Sr. Cerviche. I have had the Cerviche Classico a couple of times. The portion is big and the flavor is out of this world. You can specify the amount of heat you desire. I always ask for "medium" and the taste is always perfect. The portion is so big that it really can be a meal. Not normally being a cerviche lover husband ordered the Cerviche Tropical. Having a bit of a sweet tooth, he really liked it, although the sweet marinade was not my cup of tea. There are actually many other types of cerviches and tiraditos available but I do not know if I will ever try them since I love the Cerviche Classico so much. The entrees we had were fair. I ordered the Pescado a la Plancha. I liked the seafood that topped the fish in this dish. The shrimp and calimari were cooked perfectly. The top of the fish itself however, was very tough. You had to get past that layer to get to the little bit of moist fish underneath. The rice was a bit hard. Husband ordered the Churrasco a lo Pobre. He said the skirt steak was good but he has had better. Service was very attentive. It was late with only a few other customers there so our server kept coming by to see if everything was okay, despite his interest in the soccer game on the televisions. I did find the televisions a bit disconcerting. It is a small place and there are televisions on both walls playing loudly. I know the game may interest much of the clientele ( and apparently the staff!) but I was more into quiet conversation at the tine. This place has limited seating and due to the popularity it might be hard to find a place to sit! Luckily for me i was with a small group and was sat right away. Our waitress was very friendly and answered all of our questions to the best of her ability! She explained the different types of dishes and helped me pick an entree when I was torn between the whole entire menu! Peruvian food is very vibrant. The appearance of it with all the colors and textures usually matches the taste! The day that i went i tried a few different plates. The chupe (fish) was EXCELLENT!! Literally could not stop eating it! It was a little pricey ($16 i believe) for soup but definitely worth it. They give you a huge bowl enough to share with like 3 people. It was creamy and had all the right flavors. Not too overwhelming as you would imagine a seafood soup to be, it was just the right amount. The arroz chaufa was really good too! Had great flavor. I order the fettucine huancaina with steak and to be completely honest i didnt love it! To be fair this was my first time trying it so maybe this sauce just isnt for me. It was too much where you feel like you can't enjoy the other flavor of the meat. That sauce is good maybe on potatoes but not on your wholeeeeeeeee entire pasta! I came here last weekend last weekend. This is the 3rd time I visit this place, and it has been great here every time. I'm Peruvian, so I tend to expect more from Peruvian food, and this place does not disappoint. While we usually go for the traditional Peruvian dishes, this time we decided to try something a bit different from the ordinary, and I'm glad we did. We started off with some passion fruit juice, which was very good; sweet, citric m, and very refreshing. I had the shrimp rice (which is similar to the seafood rice), a tried a true dish; you can't go wrong with it. Then we also had the ceviche w/ green plantains; this dish was amazing. The mix of spicy lemon cooked fish, shrimp, and octopus and fried green plantains was fantastic. Very fresh and tasty. Then we had the grilled mahi-mahi filet w/ pesto risotto and tamarind sauce. This was delicious. For those who like sweet & savory dishes, this is a perfect combination. Service and ambiance were pretty good, and the food portions were generous. I must say this place is impressive! I purchased a groupon for $20 for $40 worth of food and drinks. I'm one of those people that celebrate my birthday all month. Cant stop the momentum! Either way, I invited my sister out for lunch, since Sr. Ceviche is a few blocks from her house it seemed like the perfect time to try something new. Sr Ceviche hit the spot! The restaurant is located in a small plaza and you would probably drive right by and never notice it. Thats where Google maps comes in! The restaurant has a nice ambiance. It has a contemporary, fine dining type of feel. It is small, but very nice and modern. As soon as, we walked in we were greeted by the waitresses. She seated us and handed us our menus. She also took our drink orders. She recommended a Peruvian alcoholic drink called Pisco Sour w/ passion fruit. Pisco is a Peruvian Brandy. The drink is made with Pisco, sour mix, passion fruit juice, and egg white. Yeah, egg white. I couldn't imagine what it would taste like so I had to try it for myself. I was pleasantly surprised. It was flavorful, fruity, not too strong, but refreshing. She then brought out some fried corn kernels, known as Cancha, to snack on. It's kind of like eating the kernels from the bottom on the popcorn bag that hasn't fully popped. It was interesting. For the Entrees, we ordered Tallarines Verdes Con Churrasco (Pesto Linguine w/ Steak) and Pescado a lo Macho (Mixed Seafood in a cream sauce) served with rice. The pesto linguine was absolutely delicious. The flavorful blend of herbs and garlic tossed in linguine, and served with a tender, well seasoned Churrasco steak had my taste buds jumping. It was a large order and enough to share. I shared a little of my dish with my sister, and vice versa. The Pescado a lo Macho was very good. It is fried fish, topped with a cream garlicky sauce with Calamari, Shrimp, and Mussels. The sauce has a consistency of hollandaise sauce. I had no complaints. The portion was also very large so I shared it and took the rest home. I used my groupon with no issues. The menu is a bit pricey which is expected since a large amount of the menu is seafood dishes. The $40 groupon is enough to get you 2 entrees and maybe a drink or small appetizer. The entrees start at around $12-$22. The food and drinks were worth it. For entrees, I ordered the seafood chalupa which came with a lot of mixed seafood. My boyfriend ordered the lomo saltado and we both agreed that this was probably the best looking lomo saltado he has ever ordered and he said it ranked up there as one of his favorites.
