I was there today sat in line at the drive through for 10 to 15 minutes. I was next in line and as I was pulling up to order at 12 03 staff comes out and says they are closing early. BEWARE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! I have ordered delivery from this location several times. Every time I have ordered the Frontega Chicken Sandwich, I have marked that I have a dairy allergy so they would leave off the cheese. I also mark no cheese in my order. The last 3 times my sandwich has been delivered, it has come with melted cheese on it. This time, I called the store. An associate answered and I told her I wanted to speak to the manager. In the background I could hear him telling the associate to tell me to call back later because they were busy. I told the associate that I wanted to speak to him NOW, especially since this was my only time to talk to him during my lunch hour. He got on the phone and I told him I wanted a refund and that I wanted my sandwich delivered the right way. He told me they were too busy. Then, he had the gall to try to barter with me on when I could take time out of my day to come get the sandwich that they messed up- remember, this was a delivery order. After threatening to call corporate (which I ended up doing anyway because I was so angry at the service I was receiving) I finally started to get results and was offered a voucher in the mail. Quite possibly one of the worst locations. I have returned multiple times in hopes it was a fluke or maybe the time of day. This is my neighborhood bread co so I'm very disappointed. Half the time I go for dinner, they're out of something. Tonight they were out of bread for a simple grilled cheese so I substituted for ciabatta bread. Apparently I should stick to making my own grilled cheese (especially for the cost), can't even get the cheese on the whole sandwich. This is not a fluke, same thing happened last time I ordered this sandwich. Sloppy. The drive thru also takes money with a glove on. I'm assuming they just use that glove to package food as well?? I really enjoy my visits here for a meal, they have such a great variety and some of the delicious breads and cheese. Moreover, their soups are real good to me, not excellent but very tasty and delicious. The appearance of all the foods, from sandwiches to soups are great and I love the customer service they provide. I don't think you can wrong with a place like this for a simple meal when you don't want to cook. They have verity, a bit pricey, but overall the value is there for me. I can find not fault with Panera Bread Co. they have some good pastries that are very delicious, I particularly enjoy the cherry Cheese Danish. Just had a strawberry poppyseed chicken salad delivered to my home. It's obvious this salad wasn't made fresh today. The bottom of the salad was really wet, and almost half of the lettuce had turned dark green/slimy. It was likely prepared a couple of days ago and kept in their refrigerator. This was the slowest moving operation I have visited in a long time. I came inside to grab a few coffees and stood in line with a few other folks, but no one was standing ready to take customers orders. It seemed like the employees were noticing the customers and still not being proactive to take orders. Then to get a black coffee took about 10 minutes and then the two other lattes took about 15 minutes. Also, when they brought out the two lattes they said they ran out of large coffee cups and had to downsize the cups after I had paid for the large coffees. I would expect them to have plenty of supplies on stock for a Saturday morning coffee pit stop. I think it will be awhile until I visit this STL Bread location again. read more

Haven't been here in months. Nothing has changed. Poor service. Still slow snd unfriendly. Today I approached the register and no one was there. Asked another customer if it was kiosk ordering only and he said he'd seen an employee. Two employees passed by- neither acknowledged me. Not one "I'll be right with you." Nothing. Ordered at kiosk and sat down at a table marked "available" in the social distancing world. And my feet got soaked. A half inch of water was on the floor under the table. I approached the register where an employee finally stood snd told her, and she told me it was a backup from the drain on the soda machine. This was my first time to this particular location since they moved, and I was extremely disappointed in the service, food selection, and serving sizes for the price. It was 6:30pm (they close at 9pm), and they only had a couple seasame seed bagels, oatmeal raisin bagels, and a skimpy dessert selection. The girl behind the counter spoke in a nearly inaudiable tone, and after ordering my soup and sandwich, my one friend ordered her bowl of soup and asked for a baguette. The girl essentially whispered "We're out of baguettes. You can have chips or an apple." After asking the girl the clarify, my friend looked for something else to order since she wanted bread with her soup. Finally, the girl took the initative and looked in the back explaining they had some pieces of sourdough left. My friend decided to go with that, and my other friend ordered soup and a sandwich. When we finally got our food, my sandwich had a long brown hair threaded through the middle so it immediately went back. They ended up bringing me the wrong replacement sandwich so it had to go back AGAIN. In the meantime, my two friends were shocked at how small the portions had gotten with the price increase. The sandwiches seemed close to 1/2 the size of what they used to be / are at other locations. My friend's sandwich had sourdough instead of the listed signature bread because they had run out of it. We each had two of the smallest pieces of sourdough for our soup since they were out of baguettes (definitely not comparable to the baguette). Other patrons were getting larger rolls, which we were never told was even an option. I am a huge fan of bread co, and regularly dine at other locations, but I have NEVER had such a horrible experience before. How on earth could you be out of bread when your whole business is centered on it? It wasn't as if we were there right before closing; we were there right at dinner time. The staff was not apologetic, and the food portions were not worth the money we spent. We will not be returning if we can help it. read more

I just paid $2 for AIR at Panera! I ordered a bagel; instead, I got a 1" x max 1/2" thick piece of dough surrounding a hole that was fully 1¾" in diameter. In other words, I bought air! Panera's bagels have never been real bagels, ones boiled first (to give them a hard, shiny crust), then baked to perfection. Now that The Bagel Factory on Olive has closed, I hoped a Panera bagel would be an admittedly-inferior way to satisfy my craving. Alas, my fake bagel fell far lower than short. Panera has now cost-reduced its fake bagels to achieve a marketer's dream: charging a fortune for AIR. So it's back to making my own. It's not difficult, although making an authentic bagel does take a bit of time: the raw dough goes through two rises, followed by a brief dip in boiling water, then a sprinkling of topping, and into the oven to become to a chewy, hard-crusted taste of heaven on earth. I doubt I'll ever buy anything at Panera again. Its menu is generally ho-hum and overpriced, but charging $2 for air simply takes the--hmmm, shall I dare say it?--bagel. read more

I've dined in a few times and hit up the drive thru many times. My dining experiences deserve 3 stars. I'm giving them a bonus 4th star for having a drive through. The drive thru is typically fast and efficient. However, the last time I utilized the drive thru, I arrived home to discover that the sandwich I received was not the sandwich I ordered. It was a tasty sandwich, just not the correct sandwich. The last time I dined in, my food arrived promptly (and correctly), but another person in my party, who ordered before I did, waited quite a while for her food. After some time, an employee noticed and realized the food had mistakenly been packaged as a to-go order. They were extremely apologetic about the mishap. They're not always perfect in their execution, but the food is your typical STL bread experience, which I find to be a good variety of healthier options and delicious bakery treats. read more

Since this Bread co. opened in its new location I have had more negative experiences than positive. I work in an office not far from the location and have had my lunches from here about 2 times a week. I almost always use the order ahead feature and go pick it up on my lunch breaks and sometimes end up ordering for a co-worker or two. And let me just say, their quality control is astronomically lacking. First, I had a coworker find a bug the size of my thumbnail in her salad. A second time a turkey bravo Sandwich was ordered, and it wasn't until I was back at my office and unwrapped it that I realized there was no cheese or bacon on this sandwich (one of the main features of the Turkey Bravo). Third I've ordered soup and gotten back to the office only to realize the soup bowl was only a quarter full (seriously $6 for a stale loaf of bread and enough soup to fill up a toddler). Fourth, I've ordered a tuna sandwich and halfway through found two hairs in it. Why did I keep going back? Mostly out of convenience, and the fact I had been going to St. Louis Bread Co. for years for the occasional work lunch. I would say out of the past 10 times I have gotten food from here only 3 times has it actually been correct, and/or eatable. Yesterday was the last straw. I ordered a Turkey Bravo, my favorite, and yep I was in hurry and didn't unwrap the 2 orders I had placed before I got back to my office (something I had gotten into the habit of doing). But the TURKEY Bravo sandwich...no TURKEY! Come on guys. I seriously don't have time to keep running back to this place for them to correct my order every time they mess up, which they do constantly. The management obviously doesn't care that they consistently put out bad orders that they have to fix. But come on, it is seriously just lazy to actually give someone a sandwich without the main Ingredient, its called a TURKEY bravo. You gave me a BLT with freakin cheese. And they can't even answer the phone forcing customers to go all the way back to them every time they mess up. Save yourselves the trip. We came with our friends and our kids to try this new bread company location. I like the option to order at the little computer screen kiosks. It was much quicker than standing in line waiting for someone to assist you. My wife and I both got pick two meals. I had the spicy chicken salad and clam chowder, and my wife had the kale caesar and italian sandwich. My daughter got a kids grilled cheese. It was all very good. We finished it up with a chocolate chip cookie. read more

The worst drive thru Panera. I've been to several, and this one repeatedly stuffs all the food, whether it's hot or cold into a bag jamming it down so you have smashed food. Breakfast today - this is how I received it - the soufflé at the bottom (no wrapping so this is open food, the yogurt directly on top of it and then a hot sandwich on top. So it's hot, cold, then hot items in one small bag. The soufflé is smashed, and everything is shoved in there like they're packing trash in there, not a$20 meal. Take some tips from other Panera's or visit chick-fil-a or McDonald's to learn how to properly serve & bag food in a drive thru. I've complained to the managers 5x over this in 2 years. So now I'm done with this store despite the next closest one being a longer drive for me. But come on - this should be a basic, common sense thing to do! read more

This Bread Co moved from the Schnucks plaza to the Dierberg's plaza slightly to the West. It has a drive thru now. I'm not sure why the other reviewers complain about the staff and service here. I think this is one of the best locations in town to visit. Everyone has always been friendly and I feel like they are more generous with the portions here. read more

There's not much of a difference between the Bread Companies in STL but this location is one of my favorites as its the closest to where I grew up. It gets beyond busy so if you're planning to meet someone there, get there earlier than your meeting time so you can grab a table. Very friendly staff and they keep the place pretty clean. read more

No bread at the Bread Company. I came here at 6:30 PM on a Friday night and they were out of bread for my sandwich and out of bagels. Normally I would let the slide but this is not the first time this has happened. We are in bad shape for the weekend if we are out of bread by 6:30 PM on Friday. Panera is not going to be around much longer. The other one in Manchester is just as bad and the one in Clayton closed. Who can't keep a coffee and sandwich shop open in Clayton?
