I come here mainly for the convenience. The interior isn't the greatest, but they do have a lot of machinery. I would have to say the regular boba milk tea is my favorite BUT I get the less sugar version to feel better about myself later. Taro Snow is also a good one too. The beef stir fry is also pretty good as well. However, sometimes the boba is a little soggy on the outside and disintegrates oddly when I try to eat them. Sometimes the balls have an off metallic taste as well, maybe it's because I get the low sugar version? The drinks here are amazing. They have a huge variety which means there is something for everyone. And as a surprise from a place that I expected a nice summertime tea from, they have amazing food. And not pastries. But Chinese. First we tried the crab rangoons which my daughter loves. she says they're some of the best rangoons she's had! Today we had fried rice, chicken for her and shrimp for me. It was delicious and for the price the order was huge! Easily shareable. The noodles are good but you can rarely get them because apparently only one staff member makes them?? The service girls are always nice but....how can we call in our order? My friend wanted to pick up fried rice for her hubby here so I tagged along since we were already in Creve Coeur. I didn't realize they served food and bubble tea. I got the milk tea with boba 50% sweet, it didn't taste like other milk tea but it satisfied for the moment. The boba was fine, nothing to complain about. I asked about the fruit slushees. The General Tso's chicken was gross. The rice was not good. The egg rolls were tasteless mush. The fried shrimp was nauseating. The spicy fried chicken tasted good at least. Let me tell you the story of Hilary Duff the Boba Nazi and Saint Louis Bubble Tea. Today, my lunch + fun = funch work crew planned on going to Pita + and the Saint Louis Bubble Tea house for dessert. They are both next door to each other on Olive, so our plan was a good one. The adventure started out poorly, as we decided to go to Saint Louis Rotisserie in place of Pita +, but that experience will be reviewed elsewhere. So we walk into bubble tea, simultaneously overcome by the billboard sized 25 foot tall wall menu and our anticipation for our first bubble treats. Too bad our fantasy was destroyed by Hilary Duff the Boba Nazi. Eyes shining with delight, we asked her what the quintessential boba tea was, which was the tastiest, and which one she would like best herself. We laughed, we batted our eyes, we threw down the wide eyed doey curiosity so thick Hitler himself would have caved in. But not Hilary Duff the Boba Nazi. HDTBN was all business, no bubbles. She answered our questions as though the SS were demanding a field report from their top commander. I don't think someone could have explained Bubble Snow any colder than HDTBN. But on this day, our bubble fever was too high for Hilary Duff the Boba Nazi. We couldn't be cooled down by her icy demeanor. Oh, HDTBN was hard to beat. She raged over the boba tea machines, sputtering them to speeds so fast, they screamed like Nazi camps come back from hell. In the end, she was no match for us. Gallantly, we raised our two mango boba snows and one chocolate pudding boba tea with joy, and were resplendent in our victory. The mango boba snows were like super happy hello kitties in a cup. I will go back to this bubble tea shop. HDTBN wouldn't let me take pictures of the menu because she said that competition in the STL area was high, and that enemies of the state of bubble have tried to uncover their secrets, posing as phototaking customers. I don't blame her on this tactical operation, as you can tell this shop was probably the first of its kind in the area, before bubble tea got all hip to the squares. This story would not be complete if I did not mention the one causality that our bubble dreams suffered. In perhaps the final and most crucial move on the part of Hilary Duff the Boba Nazi, she did not warn us against ordering the chocolate pudding boba tea. In fact, she gave no warning signs at all. To our dismay, the chocolate pudding boba tea was like drinking a hobo's placenta through a straw. I imagine that HDTBN, and fellow co worker, the jazz I smell excrement bass player, kept shop the rest of the day, knowingly smirking at each other over their bubble secrets, surely aware of the detonation they planted among us. read more

WHYYYY must all the places I enjoy going to have to be so far from me? It must be a sign that I need to relocate. I definitely prefer this location over the other in the Loop. This place has a purpose and definitely serves it well. Open late, serve pretty decent food, and have a huge selection of teas and (non-alcoholic) drinks. Most nights you will find it filled with the not-quite 21 crowd, which makes perfect sense. This chain is the place for bubble tea (Boba Tea). The selection is huge, you can get pretty much any flavor you can imagine, the boba (tapioca balls) are optional, but add an interesting texture to the drink. If you don't know what I am talking about, then you just need to go try it. On my last visit I had the Coconut Milk Tea which was pretty delicious. The food menu is limited, but what they do have is really cheap and comes in huge portions. The beef noodle soup I had really hit the spot. The meat is fatty, but well-cooked and abundant. The food overall is what I would describe as somewhat authentic westernized Taiwanese street food - if that makes any sense. The bottom line - if you want bubble tea, this is the place to go. If you want a cheap but filling meal, and its past 8:00, this is also the place to go. If you are 17 and need a place to hang out in the evenings, then this is the place to go as well. This place is much better than the St. Louis Bubble Tea in the Loop. The barley milk tea was pretty good. The milk tea itself wasn't too sweet, and the boba was a good texture (not overcooked or undercooked) with a nice subtle flavor. Best bubble tea I've had in the St. Louis area so far. read more

I was visiting my friend in St. Louis and was craving some bubble tea in St. Louis there doesn't seem to be many options. We drove by this place and let me tell you were they lost all the stars. The SERVICE...there was an asian kid working the day we went in and if we asked a question all the answers were like you were putting him out. If you don't want to work QUIT!.. and get another job that doesn't require you to work with the general public. The boba tea in the flavour department wasn't bad, however my boba was frozen and clumped together...gross. The food smelled good but with the same sour service I wouldn't bother. The broth was light and packed with flavor, the fish balls were filled with meat, and plenty of bok choy was given (gotta get the fiber in). I topped my lunch meal with a sweetened hot Jasmin Milk Tea, and it did the job, but wasn't the best I've had. I don't think they use real milk, maybe powdered (like many places). Probably one of the worst bubble teas I have ever had. I can usually drink anything even if I don't end up liking the drink. The boba was not chewy at all and just crumbled in your mouth. The worst part was that the boba left a chemically taste in my mouth and I could not finish the drink. The drink itself was incredibly powdery and I've had milk teas that were powder based before and they were fine, but this one was just so powdery I could barely down a sip. My boyfriend and I stopped in for something refreshing but didn't know what we wanted since the menu was huge - the girl at the register was very nice explaining everything and giving recommendations. I wanted a creamier drink with almond milk but turns out they didn't have non dairy milk. The boba isn't special or particularly good, the staff are rude, they won't remake your drink if it tastes wrong, they aren't always there when the store is supposed to be open. The entire place is filled with weird signs stating rules like no taking pictures of the menu. I have stopped by this place regularly in past years for hot milk jasmine tea and it was really good. Unfortunately this time was horrible (mine and my wife's). I couldn't drink mine and my wife couldn't drink hers either so it wasn't just me. It was the worst tea that I have had in a long time. I went in for eggroll (2/$2.90), crab Rangoon (6/$6.25) and combination fried rice ($8.25). The eggroll -- not specified on filling -- was OK. Mostly vegetables. The crab Rangoon was OK. The combination fried rice was mostly rice. I found some shrimp, and some unspecified and poorly cut meat in nasty shreds. It was a massive serving, good for four meals, but it needed a protein infusion. They asked me about sauces. I told them what I wanted. They were skimpy with the little packets, and they didn't have hot mustard. This was $16.58 for not so great. Yeah, I know it rhymes. read more

Craving Bubble Tea? Quick History: For those of you who do not know what bubble tea is, it is a sweetened tea-based cold drink, usually containing "boba" (tapioca balls). It originated in Taiwan, but is now a favorite cool drink in America. Being a Chicago-native, I've been very spoiled with bubble tea from the famous Joy Yee's restaurant. St. Louis Bubble Tea is the closest thing in the Lou' with many flavors and good quality. On my last visit, I ordered a mango "snow" bubble tea with boba. "Snow" means that it is blended with ice, which I prefer over just the regular bubble tea. You should also try the normal milk tea flavor with boba, which is the standard. The workers are also very friendly so feel free to ask them about popular flavors and good fruit flavor combos. They also have decent food at St. Louis Bubble Tea, but I'll update on that later. If you've got a bubble tea itch, St. Louis Bubble Tea may have just the scratch you're looking for! read more

Pros: One of the only bubble tea places in St. Louis. The boba used to be hard (especially if its not freshly made), but lately the boba has been chewy good. The chicken wings are really tasty. Cons: Powder powder powder. Everything is made with powder. Completely artificial. My friend and I ordered the barley milk tea... it was grainy inside and completely disgusting. I didn't drink even half before I threw it out. Another Con: They have a 30 cent surcharge for any order less than 7 dollars. Do they not know this is illegal under federal law? Bottom line: If you're absolutely craving bubble tea, stick with the milk tea with boba. Even though its artificial, its at least one flavor that isn't messed up. I give this place three stars with some caveats. My other St. Louis boba experiences have been completely unsuccessful, so based on recommendations from other helpful Yelpers, I decided to visit this SLBT location. I had been to the location in The Loop some time ago and was completely unimpressed, so I was dubious (to say the least). However, it's not far from my apartment and I was in the mood for boba. When am I NOT in the mood for boba?? Compared to the other places I have been in the city, SLBT is okay. It's not blowing me away or anything, but I have decided this just might be the best there is in this seemingly boba-shy city. I guess I need to get used to it - I just moved from Las Vegas, a city with a bustling Chinatown district and boba places galore. I grew up in St. Louis, though, and kinda knew what to expect. That being said, there were a few real positives. My fiance's Thai tea was stellar - not too sweet, but not too watery either. My milk tea had a faint taste of something unique... a touch of coffee flavor? I don't know. Either way, it was different from other kinds I've tried. The negative? The boba itself. My gosh. It was hard and bitter. I don't know if I caught SLBT on an off day or if this is just how it is. However, it didn't have that chewy texture and sweet aftertaste that I usually associate with high-quality boba. It was off-putting, to the point that I found myself directing my straw AWAY from the boba. Not a good thing. I'm eager to return, partially because I recognize that this is one of the only places to get boba in the city and I'm a boba addict.
