The first mini split condenser was fried and had signs of a leak. It was over 10 years old. He called Conor, a supervisor, to talk to us about a new unit. We thought given how busy everyone is that it would be weeks before we could get the split replaced. Conor was able to get to our house in about 30 minutes. Sage serviced the second split while Conor was in route. When Conor arrived he went through the options. We needed something soon with the heat we are experiencing. They carry Mitsubishi mini splits. They had a slot for Tuesday 7/21. We had done our research, so we were comfortable acting quickly. Both Conor and Sage listened to our concerns and made us feel like we were in good hands. For the day of installation Jorge and Aaron showed up on time. They were able to remove the old split and install the new one by midafternoon. Very efficient and respectful. They checked the system out, asked if we had any question or concerns. We have a 115-year-old home, and they were careful in our old home. Our experience with Bob Jensen Heating and Air was outstanding, and I do not say that lightly. Sage, Conor, Jorge and Aaron were great. Install went very smoothly and they installed a thermostat of my choosing, even though they mostly support nest. They even fixed an issue with my downstairs vents where they weren't getting airflow (One of the splitters came undone in a wall). Post install is where this company shined: Both the AC and Furnace went awry shortly after install. Marco came out promptly and spent a good chunk of his time investigating the AC to see what went wrong and got it working again. I did end up finding out post install that the AC cut-off box switch was failing and needed replacement. The heater had a manufacturing error where they had to reduce a part twice. Overall. TIMELY- Uriel called 30 min before his arrival and then, arrived at the stated time. This is particularly helpful so I can move my bunny to another room with all of his belongings. ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I saw him place a protective cloth down on the floor before he placed the ladder and tools down. I also noticed there was a bottle of cleaner with his supplies. He cleaned the inside vents as well as the compressor on the roof. He also tied off a loose wire/when checking the air handler in the ceiling. KNOWLEDGEABLE and THROROUGH - Uriel did a complete system check and then, he sat down with me to explain what was done and why. He addressed the concerns I had about some of the prior readings in terms that I could understand and shared tips that will help ensure my system runs at its most efficient. Example: A higher MERV doesn't always mean "better" and can actually restrict the airflow. He said that for my particular system I should use a MERV10 filter and change it every 3 months. He changed my filters and then, left me with two spares to use before the fall check comes. FRIENDLY - In the course of chatting with Uriel, it came up that I might benefit from having more filtered air coming into my condo. He made a recommendation for a part that would replace the standalone room air purifier I currently use. He placed this info into the after-visit summary so I can "research it and see if it fits with my needs and finances." There was zero pressure to make a purchase on the spot. And while this next item has nothing to do with the knowledge or ability of an HVAC tech, I greatly appreciate that he did NOT smell like cigarette / e-cigarette smoke or strong cologne as I have a bunny and people in my family have asthma. I've had service with them several times throughout the years. I actually did end up signing up for…read morethe membership plan to get a discount on some larger replacements/maintenance I needed. I would consider the the plan more just prepaying certain services. They come check out AC and furnace twice a year. They now also include a plumbing inspection and water tank flush once a year which isn't a lot but convenient cuz I'm lazy. I see a lot of the bad reviews are about upselling and mention the home Depot deal. Found them through Google a couple years ago and not home Depot so I'm not sure if they send different people or what. With the plan they have been pretty consistent with calling and making sure I don't forget to do my scheduled maintenance and inspection. For a long time a guy name Justin came by the service me so they're always pretty consistent. Now it's switching over to Willie after a couple of years. For the service itself, they do take lots of pictures, explain things in details and show how your system is running objectively. They do help explain things in layman's terms if you're not familiar with it so the techs themselves are pretty good. Overall I would recommend for a customer focused experience that's pretty convenient.

A second company gave us a wide range of less ridiculous pricing, but no real answer to the issue and they never ended up coming back. With a wedding looming, we assumed we'd have to wait for the summer to save more money and maybe get lucky with some wedding gifts to help pay for it all. So glad I saw Surf Bros HVAC in the neighborhood and gave it another shot.
