The food was amazing My only complaint is the seating. We had a table and was asked to get up since we had not placed an order yet. Others had done the same and they were not asked to leave their table. This will probably be what keeps us from going back. At least we tried it once. I am giving 3 stars solely based on being asked to get up from the table. They need to figure out a better seating arrangement. read more

What can I say, this place straight up sucks, when you spend $70 for four people you would hope the portions would be decent, the quality beyond an IHOP or Denny's and timing of service prompt and coordinated. It was none of the above. My 5 year old grandson know what eggs cooked medium is, not raw like a chick waiting to be hatched, and the one thing you hope they would get right which is in the name of the joint "Pancake house" they managed to screw that up also, more like "Pancake batter house" is fitting. First let me say we love this place have been going since we moved here in 2015 and 95 percent of the time it is perfect so this will probably come off OC entitled and petty but it is becoming a trend so I thought I would post. I always order the "blueberry" upgrade to the pancakes that come with your meal. The last 3 times now the "blueberry" upgrade has been less than great culminating yesterday when we got 6 blueberries in two pancakes. That was .25 per blueberry if my math is correct, and that was disappointing. I am hoping management takes note and reverses this trend. The only thing I was disappointed in was the side salad accompanying my crepes. It was slightly stale and wilted. Other than that, my savory, vegetable crepes were pretty good. Not often in the mood for or a huge fan of breakfast, but Stacks really does it right when the craving strikes. Service is on point, they are well trained to handle the crowds that come here in the morning. There is usually a line, but the wait still minimal which I greatly appreciate, especially dining with kids. Portions are average, but the food filling and the prices great. I usually order something savory such as their corned beef hash as well as something sweet like their captain crunch Mac nut French toast. I also love their coffee, both hot and iced. My wife and I noticed a huge crowd on Sunday at Stacks Pancake House in Dana Point on PCH, so we checked out the reviews, read about the background on how they got started, and the menu and decided to try it out during the week expecting it to be much less crowded. Thankfully, it was. The menu looks really interesting, making it a little difficult to choose an item for breakfast. For example, the French Toast choices are made with Kings Hawaiian Bread - I love that stuff! I like to try the Eggs Benedict when offered to give me a comparison to other restaurants. I went with the Club Benedict, which comes with turkey and bacon for the protein. The Benedict was quite tasty. My wife ordered eggs and bacon with a side of the Banana-Macadamia Nut pancakes. These were quite tasty. Three types of syrups were offered for the pancakes: maple, boysenberry and coconut. All of them worked with the pancakes, although I personally felt it was a little too sweet, so I tried the pancakes without any syrup. I thought they tasted great on their own. We also had the coffee, which was good. The place is a bit small, probably could only seat about 40 or so people, inside and out, which explained the long line on Sunday. The ambiance is OK. The staff was very nice and helpful. I'd give them 5 stars. The menu selection was broad and I definitely want to return to try other dishes. They do not offer WiFi, which I've come to expect. However, it would likely cause people to take longer, so probably a good thing to help turn the tables and increase the throughput. All in all, this looks like a really promising place. I plan to try it out more when we are in town and will update or add to my review at that time. read more

Breakfasted here on our last day in Dana Point. Everything we had was excellent. This is a "fast casual" concept where you order at the counter and they bring it to you. The service was fabulous from the counter service, delivery at table and refreshing our coffees. Ordered the macadamia nut Belgian waffle, Oreo cookie short stack, oatmeal, and eggs/bacon/potatoes. Without at doubt the waffle and pancake we the winners of the table, but the oatmeal and the traditional breakfast fare were very good. We also ordered a side of the Portuguese sausage, which was very flavorful and rich. The coffee was great too! Overall, one of our better breakfast experiences. We will be back. read more

Excellent place for breakfast! Was here on a Saturday at 11am and the line was out the door. Got in line and a wait staff came by with menus and asked how many were in my party. She located a table for us. We ordered a strawberry and cream waffle, California omelette, and the Mac nut French toast. everything was delicious . The waffle was just one big waffle and not quite enough for my teenage son. The omelette was flatter than expected. The French toast was absolutely delicious. minus one star for the small portions. My super picky eaters had two portions each of French toast and chocolate chips pancakes. Kids plates come with bacon! For $4!!! Done, this is my new fave place. Came here because my friend recommend it. I love the chicken waffle it was by far the most unique food I have ever had, but it was so delicious. With the sweet and savory taste that the powered sugar and syrup give you. The staff is very friendly even when it's crazy busy they are very active and moving around.
