    All American Burger and Fries

One of the better burger places in Aiea. I can't point to one thing about the burger that makes it so special, it's just the totality of the burger, the bun, the toppings, and the sauce. It's just a really good burger. Now the thing about this is it is a food truck, that means thae seating is limited to some open air picnic tables with the usual ambience of bugs and it can be somewhat hot. Also, if you go there at the wrong time, it can be a wait for your burger. On this last trip I waited almost 25 minutes for my order to come out, which was a little too long, even for a good burger. I usually just get the regular fries, they are quite good!

Here I am looking for smash burger places in town and I see this place pop up and have the thought that I probably forgot to do my review and yup, that's what happened. We came here a couple months ago after seeing it pop up online somewhere I think. It's a small food truck in a parking lot off the main highway, easy enough to find and park. The wait is a little bit because it's made fresh so no big deal. We got the Fun Guy Smashburger, All-American Smashburger, and the Bacon Me Crazy Fries. The Fun Guy was pretty huge, a little messy like it should be, and delicious! Anything with truffle is a pretty easy win for me. The combination of the smash burger patty with the cheese, truffle aioli, mushrooms, and onion jam sounds like a lot but it's well-balanced and a flavor bomb. The fries were crispy and the crispy bacon with cheese sauce was yummy on the speciality fry option. Would definitely go back again!

Solid burger spot! Heard about them for years but never stopped. Finally had the chance and it was worth it! They aren't smash burgers. They are burgers and slightly smashed, but def not smash burgers. Regardless, they're good! And super messy! Ordered the single traditional with bacon fries. The old school mustard mayo sauce makes it. Well worth the drive! Service is quick and friendly. Lots of parking and outdoor seating! Take lots of napkins. It's messy, but worth it!

Wanted to eat a juicy burger for lunch and on the whim drove to Shay's Smashburgers. Slightly busy about 4 groups of people waiting for their order. Order took about 15 minutes until it was done, not too bad. They have a bunch of tables with shade to wait or eat at. Ordered a classic, all American and bacon me krazy fries. Food was hot and fresh! They give out plastic gloves to eat your food with. Very considerate of them. The classic burger is just your typical burger. The all American on the other hand is so delicious, juicy and filled with flavor. Each bite I took, the juices from the tomato and sauce was spilling out. Bacon me krazy fries is fries topped with the secret sauce and bacon bits. The sauce tasted like mustard mix with something else. Not too sure but you could definitely taste the mustard. Not a big can of mustard but this just made me like it! Would come back again.

My friend said this lowkey be the best burger on the island and we decided to make the trip out for me to decide for myself. Shay's has some outdoor seating, covered but definitely not in the best condition but good enough to sit shortly and grub before dipping. My friend got the classic and I got the all American. We also got the bacon krazy fries to share. The all american burger was good, juicy and done well. I could've used more salt but I just love salt tbh. I know it's a smash burger but I definitely feel like the classic was sooo small, not enough as a meal. The bacon fries weren't crazy but a good side to the burger. I mentioned that it would be fire with a meat (not js bacon) and he said you could ask for that so I would recommend others to try that out. The secret sauce also tastes a LOT like chick-fil-a sauce loll. Definitely not close to the BEST burger on the island imo but definitely a solid one.

Tried this place last time we were on the island and it was so good we had to try it again. It did not disappoint. This catering truck is not much to look at and if you're looking for ambiance, this isn't for you. But they make a great smash burger and fries. All food is cooked to order and is hot and fresh. They double cook their fries and you gotta have them with the krazy sauce. So ono. Got the classic and the all American this time and they were delicious. The folks running this place are very nice, humble, hard working people. Give 'em a try!

I paid $22 for this, it's supposed to be a fun guy Smashburger and crazy fries. But it looks like there's no crazy with the fries. I even gave a $5 tip hoping they would drizzle some little bit extra cheese, but turns out I got NO cheese. Just ketchup. I really need to stop leaving a tip! And check my orders before walking away!

Went here for lunch the other day and ordered their classic cheeseburger and their Krazy fries that comes with their special sauce. Everything was delish. Total hidden gem in Aiea!

Wait... Depending on when you get here, there can be a wait. I've been here where I waited 10 mins to 45 mins. Yea that was a bad day. But now they have covered benched while you wait. The food isn't premade. They start your order when the customer in front of you gets theirs. So if someone orders ten burgers, you get to wait. Ooh and everyone gets fries. Because really you can't have a burger without fries. The burgers are always juicy, you can even see that before you take a bite. The meat juices just oozes down your hand. This is why plastic gloves come with each burger. And you know I believe the smaller the menu the more time to perfect the food. The menu is simple. What kind of burger, what kind of fries, what kind of can drink. Shay's is located across from Boston's Pizza (I know you read that review). Where a use car lot use to be. Parking is where you want it to be since it's a dirt lot. Overall four stars. The food is great. It's the gamble of getting back to work from lunch on time that prevents the glorious five stars from me. M

This is my go to burger spot when I am in the pearl city area or can't find anything I want to eat at Pearlridge. I recommend calling in your order for pickup since it does get kind of busy considering this is a food truck business! The cashier here is always nice and I always have a hard time deciding which burger I want to eat. But I will say spending a few extra bucks for the Fun-guy burger is WORTH IT. The burgers are always cooked to perfection and the fries always got that perfect crisp. Just a heads up, the seating area can get busy and hot so be prepared and patient for the staff who work very hard here!

Finally got the chance to try this spot! For some reason I always want smash burgers on Sundays but they're closed LOL Shay's is definitely worth the wait. We came early lunch and not surprised that it was busy. So of course we assumed there'd be a wait but it wasn't a problem cause our babies slept the whole time. Hubby got the deluxe Fun Guy; he inhaled his burger lmao I got the classic burger with extra grilled onions but I think they forgot to add it in my burger. Both meals were delicious!! Probably the best smash burger I've had! Secret sauce might be a little sweet but other than that it's good. We'll definitely be back!

Since I paid an extra $3.50 for my onion rings I was very disappointed. Only plus is they were nice and crunchy. Hubby's burger and fries were hot, so my order must have been made first and then just sat there for a while. Hubby was happy with his meal since it was hot and cooked medium as he ordered. Anyways, I like this location a lot more than the Kapolei location because it's bigger and it's not white light reflecting off white light, much easier on the eyes. I took off two stars because I ordered the same grilled cheese that I did the day before, had a great experience and it was night and day this time around. The one I had in Kapolei was able to melt the cheese, but this one didn't even seem like they tried...so I asked if they could make it again. Understandably, when I asked if they could make it again, they asked what was wrong and I told them the cheese wasn't melted, which sets my expectations for the next one. They made another one (begrudgingly) and I got the same results as far as the cheese. But at least this one was warm so more heat did hit the cheese, but just not enough to melt it per my request. Other than my sad grilled cheese (that wasn't grilled) the fries were great and my friends who got actual burgers were very happy with their food.

I need to check if there's a secret way to ask them to season the burger or another way to cook it. It's expensive and I keep trying it, and it always tastes the same so I guess that's the way it is. I need to go online and see if there's some secret way to order. The regular way is underwhelming.

Burgers: Son and I ordered the same thing- single smash burger. He got his plain, just meat and cheese. I got everything that came on it. His was fine. Mine was not. First, bun to meat ratio was outrageously bad. Smashburgers are supposed to be thin, so you gotta use a smaller bun. Double probably would have been a better call, but in this case it would have just doubled the really unpleasant taste. The whole thing was burned. The bun was burned, the burger was burned, the caramelized onions were burned. This may just have been the burned taste, but it also tasted dirty, like it came off of a nasty grill. And, yes I ate it anyway. I dont send back food. I take pictures of it half eaten and tell random strangers on the internet how bad it tasted. Service was good, beer was good, pretzel was good. Burger was so abysmally bad that I cant ever see going back here. You can clearly see looking at the bun that its burned, and they sent it out anyway. That speaks volumes about how a restaurant is run.

Ordered by phone the day prior, and just gave them my phone number as usual (it's how they identify you when you pick up, with no worries about duplicate or misspelled names.). Every time I've ordered in advance, our order has always been packed neatly and ready in a box for takeout. (My brother had brought a box just in case, and smoothly offered it to their staff for someone else's future order.) The restaurant has several tables for dining in, and markings on the floor for those waiting in line. It's brightly lit and clean as well. I appreciate their staff, food, service, and generous servings. They make us look so good with our potluck contributions! So what did we order? Half chicken katsu, half chicken wings, a small platter ($45 for the small pan, but picture a much loaded tray) - it's a great value deal! It was the same order our cousins loved when we brought it on Christmas Day (they especially love the wings, but we love the katsu-so this year we asked for half-half instead of all katsu, and they were so happy, ha ha!) Oh, and they give you a nice big container of yummy katsu sauce;)! I like their panko and cooking method, as whatever they do, the chicken is nice and crisp, and tasty - with, or without the sauce, actually. First time that I actually tried the wings, as I'm not a wing person. (I didn't even try it at Christmas, lol.). But, it was nice and crisp, lightly seasoned, and the wings had lots of meat on them. Easy finger food, and they were not dripping in oil, either, which I appreciated! Also ordered (for the first time) a small platter of chicken chow mein (a little over $30?). It was based on a good recommendation by an admittedly biased family member of the owners, and we were pleasantly surprised! The small pan was covered in wrap and then foil, because the mound of noodles was seriously kinda big! My brother was like, quick, go tell mom to come look before we open it (as she's picky, so it's hard to impress her). It was filled with lots of veggies (sliced carrots, cabbage, onions, etc) and bbq chicken pieces, tossed with great flavor (I want to say it was a nice sauce, but this wasn't a wet noodle dish.). My dad added Chinese mustard soy sauce, but my mom and I thought it was perfect the way it was. Oh, don't laugh, we're only a family of four, so yes, we ate two meals - lunch and dinner - and still packed a ton of leftovers! As we watched the game, we commented to each other what great choices we had made. (We also had sushi trays and other treats, and of course, chips, and my brother's dip. My brother said we may not have had a favorite team to cheer on today, but it was a great excuse for a party, ha ha!) I know we're doing a repeat for our next occasion, for sure! We'll gradually try some of their other foods, and it's farther away than we'd like to drive (I know, it's not that far, but we live on the other side, ok?). My brother agrees it's worth the drive - it's across Aloha Stadium and literally in the same spot as Ice Palace; and we saw quite the line at the Taco Bell drive through when we were looking for parking;). He also compared it to the cost and serving size of what we ordered on New Year's, from a restaurant much closer to where we live. Hands down, it was not even a close comparison, his emphasis added. So go here, it's perfect for family dinners and potlucks and I hope you agree with my assessment;)! Oops, I didn't take any pictures, aiya!!!

Super disappointed with the crazy service tonight…read more I placed an order outside using the kiosk for just a chicken katsu special at 5:52 PM since it was crowded inside and ended up waiting 45 minutes for that one plate. It wasn't just the waiting, it was the service and lack of communication that pushed it over. After placing my order, I entered the restaurant and waited on the side since there wasn't a place to sit and wait. The worker who was stationed at the front soon came back and asked "How can I help you?" and I mentioned that I ordered on the kiosk outside and she walked away without saying anything. Around 10 minutes in I noticed the worker mentioning to every person in line only after they tried to order that the wait would be 30 minutes for anything on the grill since they had a big order. The questions that came to mind every time a person attempted to order was "why wouldn't she tell them that they would have to wait 30 minutes from the beginning before they even tried to order so they could reevaluate if their orders needed the grill?" And "what items are not on the grill?" Every person in line would get frustrated as she wouldn't even show what items didn't need the grill.. They would say "Okay I want to order this instead" and she would keep saying "that's on the grill so you have to wait 30 minutes." Like they were supposed to know.. Who wouldn't get frustrated? Time went on and I found myself still waiting at 6:30 PM. When i heard her mentioning the chicken katsu wouldn't take long since it's not on the grill. No update, just me sitting on those high chairs obviously waiting for my order. It's worse because you don't get a buzzer for using the kiosk. I decided to ask about my order but still had to wait in line to talk to that same worker. When it was eventually my turn, I said "I wanted to check on my order" and showed her a picture of the kiosk with the order number because the kiosk didn't print a receipt for me and rudely responded with "Your order's already ready" and just handed it to me.. Excuse me? No one even bothered to tell me it was ready and she spoke to me like I was supposed to know it was ready. How long was it ready that I was wasting my time waiting there? Also, please fix the option on the kiosk when you select the chicken katsu; it should have the option or be defaulted with "White rice & mac salad" like your app. The kiosk is misleading and doesn't say you don't need to select "all rice" or the other up-charge options. So when she gave it to me and she said all rice I explained to her that I thought it was making me choose an option and she got defensive and said "No it doesn't." She eventually took it to the back to put mac salad then returned and rudely told me "Next time just don't select an option." Wow. It was not my fault that no one called me to tell me my order was ready. It was not my fault there was a flood of orders during dinner time. I like Oh My Grill but please do better with the customer service, especially with the person who's in charge at the front. I understand that it gets overwhelming when it's busy but the communication and customer service was just the worst. No one deserves to be treated like that especially when we come often. This was such a horrible experience.. Maybe won't come back for a while.

My family was in the area to shop over at Crafts Way and I found Fooki on Yelp as a nearby food option. It had something for everyone in our group of seven: 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 4 meat eaters. The restaurant had a divy vibe, cozy and welcoming. The service was very friendly and the server was incredibly knowledgable about their menu and how what made some of their dishes stand out from what's expected. The Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries are a must! They totally reminded me of my childhood and the kind of fries I'd get at the amusement park back in Taiwan. Here's everything we ordered. Every single item was a hit! -stewed egg -stewed tofu -Majiang noodles -Lu Rou Fan -Grandpa Rolling Beef -Scallion Pancake -Fooki Bao -Tofu Bao -Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries -Veggie Scallion Noodles -Fooki Bowl -BoomBoom Chicken If we ever find ourselves back in Aiea again, we will be stopping in!

We have been here several times before and this time we brought the whole gang. Although it was a Friday night, we came earlier than normal and were able to be seated immediately. All the tables were taken, but it wasn't too loud or crazy. Our service was great. I chose their Classic Beef Noodles which were great! The beef broth was flavorful. The beef slice was tender. The noodles were cooked well. Honestly, it was great. The portions could be a little better. So, from a cost-to-value perspective, that could be better. All in all, it was great.

Fried Udon with beef was really good! We also tried the Fried Udon with chicken ~ also very tasty! I had the Salmon Salad that includes one scoop of brown rice. It had garlic & green onion on the salmon & was a nice presentation. See pics! Also, ordered Chicken Cake Noodle to-go for dinner! Impressive! They give a good portion of food & have affordable prices! Gotta try more! Mahalo!

We ordered the cold ginger chicken, loco moco, pork chop with gravy, and sesame balls. I have to say, I really miss the cold boneless ginger chicken the way it used to be made. It was one of my favorite dishes here. Unfortunately, the food just didn't have the flavor I was hoping for. The pork chop in particular tasted a little off to me, and instead of the Chinese-inspired flavors I remembered, the dishes felt more like local comfort food with a bit of Chinese flair. The overall experience also felt a little lacking in warmth and friendliness. I know many restaurants are facing challenging times, and it's never my intention to leave a low review. I genuinely want local businesses to succeed. But one thing I've learned throughout my food journey is that when food is made with love, you can taste it. It's more than just the ingredients--it's the care, pride, and aloha that come with it. And when that feeling is missing, you notice it too. This is simply my honest experience. No hate, just Queenie keeping it real. I'm hoping this was just an off day, and I truly wish them the best moving forward.
