Sometimes the best restaurant discoveries aren't planned. They're the result of hunger, a long drive, and a Google search that happens to get it exactly right. On our drive home from Miami to Jacksonville, we traded Interstate 95 for the slower, more scenic A1A. It made for beautiful views, but after crawling through one coastal town after another, lunch became a priority. A quick search landed us at Stage Kitchen & Bar on PGA Boulevard, a restaurant I later learned had earned a place in the 2025 Michelin Guide. After one meal, it was easy to understand why. We began with two appetizers that could not have been more different, duck confit egg rolls and a grilled cheese. Calling the grilled cheese "just a grilled cheese" would be unfair. Brie melted between perfectly griddled bread kissed with white truffle oil already sounds luxurious. Pair it with a bright mango jam and suddenly a childhood comfort food becomes something unexpectedly elegant. Richness met sweetness in all the right proportions. The duck confit egg rolls were equally memorable. The duck was deeply seasoned with Middle Eastern spices, giving each bite layers of warm, savory flavor. The accompanying peanut chutney added sweetness, nuttiness, and just enough contrast to keep the dish from becoming too heavy. These egg rolls packed far more personality than their modest appearance suggested. For lunch, my wife ordered the grilled black grouper sandwich. The fish, sourced fresh from local suppliers, was flaky, moist, and clean tasting. Lettuce, tomato, onion, and a malt vinegar aioli gave the sandwich brightness without overwhelming the fish. It was simple, balanced, and exactly what a fresh fish sandwich should be. I chose Stage's signature burger, two Certified Angus Beef patties topped with aged white cheddar, caramelized onions, sunflower sprouts, and their house "fancy sauce." This is the kind of burger that reminds you why burgers became America's favorite sandwich in the first place. Cooked to a juicy medium, every bite was rich without becoming heavy. The caramelized onions added sweetness, the white cheddar delivered sharpness, and the sunflower sprouts provided freshness and texture. The fancy sauce contributed just enough heat to keep everything interesting without stealing the spotlight. Dessert continued the restaurant's habit of taking familiar flavors and giving them thoughtful refinement. My sticky rice ice cream, finished with mango sauce and toasted coconut, captured everything I love about mango sticky rice while transforming it into something lighter and more playful. It was creative without feeling gimmicky. My wife ordered three macarons from local pastry maker Macaroner, S'mores, Passion Fruit, and Lime Coconut. Each shell was delicately crisp before giving way to a soft, airy center, exactly as a proper macaron should. Stage Kitchen & Bar takes familiar dishes and quietly elevates them through technique, quality ingredients, and restraint. Nothing feels overcomplicated or designed simply to impress. Every plate feels carefully considered. Sometimes trusting Google is a gamble. This time, it paid off. Great restaurants don't always announce themselves. Easy parking right out front--already winning. We rolled in at that dreamy 2:40 "is it still brunch or am I just living my best life?" hour, and the menu had plenty to keep everyone happy. Service was super friendly and actually genuine (bless--no fake smiles, just nice, normal humans). Prices bounce around depending on what you order, which honestly works--especially if you're vegetarian and like having options that don't feel like an afterthought. Now... the apple pie mascarpone stuffed French toast ($15). Listen. This thing is reckless. Absolutely delicious, but if you're trying to keep your dignity--or your group chat--intact, maybe don't photograph it. It's giving "worth every bite" and "see you at the gym never." I went with the chickpea and squash rice bowl ($22), which was hearty and satisfying without knocking me into a food coma. Mom had the fried fish sandwich (around $22-$24) and was very pleased--always a win. We sat outside because inside felt like the Arctic unless you brought a parka. The host opened the sunshades for us, and suddenly it was breezy, sunny, and perfect. Major upgrade. Only tiny gripe: the iced tea glasses are on the petite side. Fine for my 83-year-old mom, but my husband and I could've easily gone through six. I'm happy to pay--just keep the refills coming like we're in a hydration marathon. Bathrooms were clean (two single restrooms, nicely decorated), and the music ranged from '80s to now--totally fine as long as it stays at a "we can still hear each other" volume, because no one wants to shout over brunch. I've been to Stage for lunch, dinner and happy hour because it's so close to the job. I paid with my own money for lunch, it was my first time. It's not a cheap lunch but not overly expensive, avg $22 or so. However, I knew then I wouldn't return if I were paying. The food is mid and it might have been my expectations. I was ordering an Indian dish, give me Indian. I tasted some aspects but it definitely has some fusion aspects. Drinks are pricey. Service was ok all times so no complaints. The hot and bothered was really good. I was disappointed in the food items I ordered. The grilled cheese seemed like it was made from regular white sandwich bread and the patatas were more like home fries. I would expect this restaurant to make the grilled cheese with fresh local sourdough. The grilled cheese was nothing outstanding. If I had ordered this on the regular menu at $16 I would have been upset. The patatas were more fried than I was expecting. Made it in for dinner this time around - got the Hot and Bothered drink again, spicy tuna bomb, and the lamb kefta app. For the mains we did the butter chicken again, and the lamb chops/lollipops. I will say the spicy tuna bomb and lamb kefta app were amazing, the mains were still good but just not as good. Ambiance is great at night, the bar has a great design and even on a thursday night the place is busy. Service was great although our waiter's energy was rather... interesting. After having this spot on my list for nearly two years, I'm finally crossing it off and not for the reasons I hoped. I sat at the bar and it took quite a while before anyone acknowledged me. The staff just wasn't friendly or welcoming. A new guy showed up on the scene to save the day and he was in better spirits but they'll probably ruin him soon. The drinks and the patrons were definitely the highlight, but the food itself was underwhelming. I was grateful for the happy hour pricing as I would have been displeased to pay full price. The patrons were nice and helped lift the experience a bit, but overall this was a first and last visit for me. Everything at this place is phenomenal! One of the best restaurants in PGA with ties to Ela Curry about 10 minutes away from it. There's also a ton of GF options. The food is really just incredible. They have the best Naan I have ever had. I highly highly recommend the wagyu beef tartare it's unlike any other one and it's off the charts. Oh and they have a Gf fried chicken which is incredible. The service is amazing and it's a nice atmosphere with a bit of an upscale dining feel. You know it's great when the chef walks around to ask people about their meal. My friend took me to lunch at Stage Kitchen for my birthday. The restaurant is a fusion of Indian and mix dishes from other countries. They had a seasonal 3 course prix fixe lunch which included an appetizer, a main, and dessert. It was a great deal. The restaurant is beautiful and upscale. The food is delicious and beautifully plated. We opted for the Butter chicken masala bowl, and a delicious dessert. We each had a glass of Chardonnay. The food, atmosphere and service is outstanding. We observed other tables ordered cocktails. A special Rose, gin and watermelon. We will order next time. The restaurant offers lunch, Brunch and dinner. I have been so excited to try Stage - but like another review has said, if you're coming from a major city and looking for high polished service and professionalism, then you absolutely need to lower your expectations. I made reservations for 7 PM specifically for outdoor seating, I was not seated for about 25 minutes with no acknowledgement or apology for the wait. The service was fine, however not polished and at times did feel like our waitress just kind of went missing, it was actually the folx who were filling the waters and cleaning up the plates that were busting their butts and staying on top of everything (they did awesome.) The inside is nice however incredibly loud - I had to scream to talk to the hostess. The food was good - it was all flavored well, came out pretty quickly, and coursed out, however given the prices I would expect more from a restaurant like this, and an overall shift in ambiance to make the experience more pleasant. read more

Ventured a bit out of our usual area for a date night to check out the newly opened Stage in Boca Raton. From the moment we arrived, the energy was buzzing and we were seated promptly. Our server, John, set the tone for the night with his humor and attentive service, making sure we were well taken care of. We kicked things off with some cocktails, followed by a trio of appetizers: Bang Bang Cauliflower, Shishito Peppers, and Oysters. Each dish was bursting with flavor, setting high expectations for the rest of the meal. Craving Indian cuisine, I opted for the Butter Chicken as my main course, and it did not disappoint--rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. I'll preface by saying this review is being written after my second visit to Stage. My first visit was not the best. Service was not great, the food was ok, and we didn't rush to go back. However, things changed when we decided to go and give it another try. This time around, the service was fantastic. We sat at the high tops near the bar for happy hour. The HH menu was decent. As I was 8 months pregnant, I couldn't eat everything on the menu. My husband loves the tuna bites and I had the cauliflower. The cauliflower was very spicy, but sooooo delicious. For our entree we split the skirt steak which was cooked perfectly and shared the bread service, which came naan bread and 4 dipping sauces. All of them were full of flavor. What stood out to me, especially since I was pregnant, was the mocktails. They make really good ones. My husband enjoyed his cocktail, which was a martini on the HH menu with cucumbers. That was the most popular drink at the restaurant as many tables ordered it. If you like spices and food full of flavor, definitely stop by. Yes, the portions are small, but packed with flavor. I recently moved here from NYC and have been searching for restaurants that could become my new go-tos so my standards are definitely New York-level. Starting with the staff: everyone was kind, but the service was extremely distracted and inconsistent. When I first walked in, the host was mid-conversation with another employee, paused just long enough to say "Hi, how can I..." and then immediately turned back to finish her chat. I don't expect over-the-top greetings, but as a guest walking into a nice restaurant, it would be nice to feel properly acknowledged. When we were seated, the same host said, "Welcome, can I get you water?" We said "Sparkling," and he replied, "Great, and the fish of the day is snapper. It was hand cut this morni--" and just walked away mid-sentence. It was almost comical. My dad and I just looked at each other like, "Okay?" Our server had a similar issue: friendly but constantly interrupted himself mid-conversation to talk to coworkers or rush off to another table. When your bill is close to $300, you expect at least a few minutes of focused, attentive service to feel taken care of. Then there were the strange comments. Maybe it was his sense of humor, but the timing and tone felt off, especially since I was dining with my dad. He made remarks like, "Are you feeling the sensations? I'm only responsible for the upper sensations in this region," while pointing to his mouth, and later said something like "Are you ready to go to the deep end?" before dessert. The table of guys near us found it funny, but it made us uncomfortable. Food-wise, it was good but not mind-blowing. My favorites were the local fish, spicy tuna bombs, eggplant, and date cake. The dessert menu overall looked amazing, and I want to try more of it. Overall, Stage is a good restaurant, but if you're a New Yorker used to polish and professionalism, you might want to lower your expectations a bit read more

This is my second time visiting Stage, and I apologize for the delay in posting this review. Here's a detailed account of the entrees I tried in September 2023 and again on November 22, 2024. Food - 10 Decor and ambiance - 10 Service -10 In September, we enjoyed two cocktails: the **Black Gold Fashioned**, made with Wild Turkey Longbranch, Cynar, and coffee orange saccharum, and the **Oh Me Oh Mai**, which consisted of Noxx & Dunn Florida rum, Wray & Nephew overproof rum, orgeat, a signature passion tropical mix, and nutmeg. The unique twist on serving the cocktail in an ivy drip bag was a fun experience, providing about three drinks from one bag. For appetizers, we had the **Spicy Tuna Bomb**, featuring semolina puri with spicy soy, green goddess, and avocado, as well as the **Plantain Chaat**, which included yogurt, pomegranate, tamarind, mint, and crispy potato. We shared the **Butter Chicken Masala** with jasmine rice and truffle naan, and for dessert, we indulged in the **Sticky Toffee Date Cake** accompanied by ginger toffee sauce and ice cream. On November 22, we returned to celebrate my partner's birthday. We started with the **Bell & Evans Chicken Liver Pâté**, which was delectable. For our main dishes, we had the **Pan Roasted Local Fish** with okra, heirloom tomato, and rassam hollandaise, which was my favorite. We also ordered the **Fried Chicken** with Malvani coconut curry and lime. While it was good, it wasn't my top choice, although I still recommend everyone try it. Additionally, we sampled garlic naan with ricotta and honey. It was an interesting combination, but I believe the naan is excellent on its own without the additions. We also ordered a side of **Basmati Rice Grits**, which were simply "WOW." To finish off our meal, we again enjoyed the **Sticky Toffee Date Cake** with ginger toffee sauce and ice cream, which was absolutely decadent. I've been to Stage off PGA and few times but when I learned that they opened a new location I had to take the drive down for dinner in Boca Raton, and from start to finish, it was a flavor-packed, top-tier experience. After a full day of fasting for Lent, I arrived famished and ready to devour an ocean of seafood, and Stage did not disappoint! I kicked things off with Shishito Peppers, Bang Bang Cauliflower, and Grilled Oysters, each dish more impressive than the last. For my main course, the Spanish Grilled Octopus with roasted potatoes was a showstopper and while it was a bit over cooked and charred, it was bursting with flavor and spices. Of course, I couldn't leave without dessert, so I went all in on their Sticky Date Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (worth every bite), and since it was a night of indulgence, I treated myself to a Bourbon Old Fashioned...a smooth, well-balanced cocktail that hit the spot. Shoutout to John, my waiter, who had a great sense of humor and kept the experience flowing with excellent service all night. One of those dishes you think about long after you leave. Our waiter, Jesse, was awesome. Super attentive, gave us great recommendations, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. He recommended the peri peri chicken, which I got--and it was amazing. My dad had the tilletfish, and seriously, it was out of this world. I'll be dreaming about that until I can come back.
