It has been years since I've been to Stained Glass Pub, but the pizza is still as good as I remember. A large pepperoni is plenty for 2 adults and 2 small kids (had some leftover for the next day). The rectangular pizza came topped with a decent amount of pepperoni and was crispy, thin, and a tad greasy. The wings were good as well, but pretty standard. Ordered over the phone and my food was ready when I arrived. I appreciated the large hand sanitizer bottle sitting outside on the host stand and a smaller one near the cash register. read more

I've loved this place for a long time.. good bartenders and great pizza. My wife and I would order large plain... have a few beers a few slices and take the rest home for cold snacking out of the fridge. Sadly we moved to FM/FL and can't find anything down here that compares. We miss this joint badly!! Was visiting the area for a few days and looked forward to picking up a couple of pies to share with our hosts... also long time lovers of Stained Glass pizza. Unfortunately the pizza was under cooked and the dough twice as thick as the original pies I remember. Way doughy and nearly raw in texture. Don't know if the sheeting process or dough volume has changed... or perhaps the original type of pans used for baking have been replaced, but something has gone wrong. Yeah some of wait staff are diner type attitudes, so throw a 10 or 20 on them BEFORE U EAT,, its all good, there generally understaffed givem a break. If u want demi glaze and some duck, or cherry chutney w a perfect broccoli arob, this aint your place,, it is what it is and its dam good and reasonable, period. read more

The service was amazing. We came here after our men's baseball game and they accommodated our party of 12 swiftly. We enjoyed the pizza and brownie sundaes and the Yankee game! This pub has an old school feel that reminds me of Pizza-hut from the early 90's. Will definitely come back to watch important sport games. read more

I returned here for delicious pizza after more than a decade. Their hot, crispy rectangular pizza was delicious as the decade ago. The interior was same as before, too. Such a comfy, friendly restaurant. On top of that, the service was over the top - very welcoming and attentive. Besides the pizza, we ordered Sedona salad to share with our each favorite dressing. Very refreshing salad. We just had a wonderful dinner here - made us smile a lot here. read more

Tried this out after hearing how good the pizza was. The sauce is on the sweeter side. It was pretty good and the employees were friendly. I had a mystery shot(peanut butter and jelly... shhhh) it was ... ummm weird, But it not too bad for 5$ I suppose. I paid less than 22$ with tips. So it wasn't disappointing. Customer service given by bartender is absolutely horrible, if you can't teach and train someone at least show them how to be nice to all customers. I moved away from MoCo over 5 years ago, but when I get back I always try to get a meal in at The Stained Glass Pub. This place is an institution off Layhill Road. The pizza is always great. So much so that I buy one when I am in town and bring it back to NC to eat with my family. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Food is delicious drinks are cold and the staff is great. If you are looking for white table clothes an and sommeliers you are looking in the wrong place. If you are looking for great food at a good value find a parking spot and belly up! read more

I went to the restaurant on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Apparently every Mondays and Tuesdays pizzas are half-price with purchase of a drink so by the time we got there, the place was already packed. It has old country style pub vibe. I ordered large pizza, took about 15 minutes for it to come out. I probably added most toppings on the menu. Most of the ingredients seems to be fresh cut vegetables except they use canned mushroom and canned pineapple but it was still good for $13 pizza. read more

3.5 stars mostly for the food. 0 stars for crappy service and attitude. I have been here a few times, and you can easily pass this place as it has its own parking lot. You have to slow down, my last visit I came here during COVID, and parking was easy, but once its all over expect a packed parking lot. The aesthetics is kinda of divey and a little outdated. I came here with a friend, first it was planned to take out but since they had heated outdoor patio, I opted to eat in. So we walked in, and no welcome or greeting more like Name?! well okay miss hospitality! I told her that we want to eat in the patio, I dont know why that plucked a nerve to her, since I paid and I TIPPED generously for (takeout) basically for handing me my bag almost)!! So she told us to seat ourselves, we did, the patio is kinda grimy and the tables were not socially distanced. Meaning people seat in close proximity. There were patrons who seemed like regulars and one was drunk and definitely not a setting meant for a family environment. The waitress, idk her name, you couldnt tell she worked there, no name tag or anything, or welcoming, basically walked over dropped off our pizza and wings and she was on her way. The pizza- if you love LEDOs you will definitely love their pizza. Its a square pizza, crunchy dough like LEDOs the sauce isnt overpowering or sweet like LEDOs but its really good. I heard they have half priced specials on Mondays. Ill have to see. Wings- we ordered old bay wings. If you love Wing Stop, youll love theirs, very similar but more crunchy and well seasoned. Ill come back again to watch a game or to hangout with friends once we are allowed, maybe by then the two females would have their attitudes adjusted or theyll have new staff. read more

We came on a busy Saturday night, so perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised by the chaotic parking lot and slow service. Took a very long time to order and get food. Food mediocre. Prices reasonable, but you get what you pay for. The biggest surprise was that they allow smoking in the outdoor seating area. Smoking is a violation of County law. I'm breaking my 100 reviews or less policy on this one. There are over 200 reviews. But I decided if I'm extremely angry/upset or extremely happy about a business I will make an exception in these cases. I had gone to a Stained Glass Pub one time 5 years ago in Elkridge and had a positive experience with food & service there. However, this was a different experience mostly with the service. Their Wednesday special was 1/2 price burger with purchase of beverage. In an effort to try to be healthy, I asked if they would replace the fries with side salad. He said that they don't do that. I've never heard of a place that didn't have the option; I know of places that will charge extra, which I don't like, but sometimes I will pay the difference depending on how much it is. He said that the only thing he could replace the fries with was a potato salad...ugh...I'm not enthusiastic about that & not really much healthier than fries. I told him to come back to me to decide. I weighed other options, but nothing seemed as good/good value, and looking around a lot of people were getting the burger. So, I ultimately decided on the burger but was another 15 minutes after I decided before he came back. When he came back, I told I wanted the plain burger, which came with lettuce, tomato, & mayo. He said I could do a baked potato at a $1 more. I weighed the option and thought I could go for that and was ok with $1. I asked what came on the baked potato, & he said it was plain, but he can get Butter & sour cream. When the food came, he said that they gave me fries anyway. So, I had fries AND the baked potato. I was annoyed. I shared fries with others, who hadn't gotten their food, & I ate like 6 of them, but most of the fries went to waste. The baked potato was decent; nothing to write home about. But it just had the small butter containers & no sour cream. Thankfully, I didn't care as much about the sour cream. A couple of bites into the burger, I realized it didn't have any mayo on it. Maybe they got mixed up between no pickle & no mayo. I handed the pickle to friend. I asked the other friend to see the menu as I wanted to double check, & indeed the burger was supposed to come with mayo. I asked him for the mayo. He came around a couple of times but no mayo. I had to ask again. Meanwhile, my burger is getting cold. The burger was well below average. Very bland. The mayo helped a little, but still very weak. While the burger was pretty bad, perhaps, the most interesting item was the Blue Moon beer. It seems like it would be standard anyone. I'm enjoying my Blue Moon, & near the end I'm realized it's not coming out at a normal rate. I realize there is a lid container at the bottom at a curve! I've never had any foreign object in my beer. That was potentially very germy. The good news is that I'm alive to tell my story. See the pic I will attach. Going back to the service, one thing he said near the beginning was that he couldn't do separate checks. My friend had said that they always did before. Same friend said he didn't have cash. Frankly, I initially wanted to pay with card too. Later on, we are all stressing about this huge bill. They added 18% gratuity on our party (See my Dogfish Head Ale review in 2015 on this topic of forced gratuity). I don't like when they automatically add an 18% gratuity because the server can do a terrible job, be surly, etc., & they are guaranteed that 18%. 90% of the time I'm tipping more than 18% anyway, but this was a situation where I wanted to tip less because the server did a bad job: 1. He was slow 2. He didn't write down the order. Had to ask for a Mayo a second time 3. He was surly saying he wouldn't be able to split the checks 4. He initially said the only substitute for fries was potato salad, but then told me I could get baked potato 5. Because of the lack of communication, I got baked potato AND fries. I wanted the baked potato in lieu of the fries 6. I was charged for a separate baked potato 7. He had told me the baked potato came with butter & sour cream. There was no sour cream. 8. The lid container at the bottom of my Blue Moon beer. Not sure if it was his fault per say, but a lid container in the glass was an unprecedented occurrence for me (First time ever occurring), and perhaps he should've noticed. More than half the people didn't have the cash, some that did, didn't have the right change. Initially, we were each writing down what we got. Finally, the server conceded he would do separate. When my check came, I realized the 18% gratuity was greater than the amount it should've been. One guy who who just got fries was really pissed since he was charged the same amount. The server split the gratuity equally. We both left a note on the receipt & paid less than the amount. In summary, not a place I would return. read more

The food is 5 star worth, especially the pizza. The pizza SLAPS!! The three star review is for the service. The service is shaky at times. Hardly attentive or available. Basically a bunch of kids with a job and not actual servers. And I've worked service industry and done well so this isn't given haphazardly. They definitely could & should do better. Went with our friends who live around the corner for a Sunday lunch, and to be honest this is their favorite place to go. Trivia night on Thursdays is their jam. The place is a little run down but not quite "dive bar" run down. Dining room feels like a cafeteria almost. We ordered appetizers and pizzas. Have to admit the pizza was good, noting that I feel like Maryland is "pizza jail" after living 50 years in NY/MA. They are little square bar pies - one is good for 2 people. We had pepperoni on one and hamburger and onions on the other. I had hoped they'd have some decent beer choices with all of the local breweries in MoCo, but it was your standard Bud/Bud Light/Coors/Stella selection. meh. they could up their game a little and get a partnership going for a better selection. That said I'm glad they had hard seltzer instead as an option. I've I'm going to be basic, that's the direction I'm going. Should have ordered the wings, will do so on my next visit. This review is so great for the staff experience alone!! I came here on a date and I got stood up last minute. I figured I'd go in and grab a bite anyways because I was starving. As I walked in, I was greeted the bartender and he asked if I was joining anyone. I explained the current situation and the bartender immediately said "NO you are going to have a good night don't worry". Immediately was attentively served and several regulars stopped by my table (who I didn't even know) to introduce themselves and have a drink with me. Eventually moved to an open seat at the bar, had some friends join me and we ordered a delicious cheese pizza. Everyone was so kind. My sister told me this place got voted best wings in MoCo so I had to give it a shot. This place is literally down the street from my home and I did go there once years ago. I ordered quite a lot of food through Grubhub honestly not expecting to get as much food as I did. I ordered the onion rings, wings in sweet and spicy Thai sauce, and a chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. As you can see, I got way more of than a side of spaghetti and if I'm quite honest I was not a big fan of It. It was bland and watery and the sauce would just slip off the noodles. The chicken Parmesan was pieces of chicken with cheese on it. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't that. So for that meal, I removed a star and won't be purchasing that again. The onions rings were really good, they remind me of The beer battered onion rings from Popeyes but just thicker. I would recommend anyone to try the onion rings. And they give you so much for only $6. Now the wings. I won't lie, these wings were pretty good. While I do eat a lot of wings in my day, it's hard to compare it to other local businesses as I usually get chain restaurant wings. However, the sauce on the wings were so good. You honestly wouldn't need a dipping sauce. They weren't dry on the inside and they had a really nice crunch to them. That makes it a 5 star in my book. I definitely will order a different flavor next time I order from here. Overall: I would definitely give this place another try but I would probably stay clear of their pasta selections. This is always a great place for my job to hold our Pizza Keno events! The pizza is tasty and the wings are good as are the fries and chicken tenders. Our waitress, Caitlin, was awesome and took great care of our group! The restaurant has Keno and trivia which can add a layer of fun to your dining experience. Even though we rarely come out ahead, we always enjoy playing Keno here! My only critique is that the mens restroom is very small with a narrow walk way. If someone is at the sink it is nearly impossible to get past them to enter or exit. Aside from that, this is a cool restaurant. The building is a little on the older side, but that adds to the charm of the establishment. Overall, I always enjoy dining and playing keno here. I waited about a month to post this but to cut short if you like aged out run down restaurants that have the essence of crusty stank dive bar that is not disabled access friendly, THIS IS THE SPOT FOR YOU! So this place is not like it once was on every point of dining and that includes the rowdy drunks down a narrow bar you have pass to access the bathroom. This time I didn't try the pizza as it was a small group dining but what we did try was terrible and made us regret it for the next few days. Who every is cooking either is forced to cut corners everywhere to cut costs, has no training or skill, or just takes no pride in their work to cook food. That or the owners just get the cheapest slop ingredients to save as much as possible. I'm just going to leave it that we had a TERRIBLE time with disgusting food and staff was uncaring and rude. I might try this place again as carry-out to try the pizza to see if it's still good but I will never dine in again, it's just a horrible experience with people that obvious don't want to be there with contempt that you showed up. So if you like being treated like crap and having garbage plated in front of you, have a blast going here. read more

I used to come to this establishment frequently when I lived in the Silver Spring area. I loved their square pizza (a la Ledo's) and that it was a local late night bar. It's been about 5 years since my last visit and I was excited to stop by for lunch after meeting with some old friends. Maybe it's the nostalgia or my taste buds have matured, but the pizza wasn't as good as I remembered. The dough was thicker (still had the great crust), the sauce was sweet, and it had a large layer of cheese that over powered our toppings (pepperoni and jalapenos). Overall created an unbalanced pizza that left me feeling heavy and very bloated. I shared old bay wings, curly fries, and onion rings with my friend which were all good! Maybe it was an off pizza day... I'll definitely come back if in the area given my past history of them, but I'll likely stick to bar fare/beer and order their pizza with reservations. read more

Came here for the first time on a Monday night. I was told to try the pizza during their 1/2 price pizza with the purchase of a beverage special. I can not believe I never tried this place out as I've been a moco resident for the last 20 years! The restaurant and pub area was packed with everyone having a great time! The milieu was amazing! The pizza boasted in flavor and originality. A pizza that doesn't copy its competitors yet can stand out as one of the best is a winner! The pizza is square and cut lengthwise is ledos. However the crust is very different, almost crispier. The pizza comes out in its original pan and this adds to the experience and flavor not bleeding from the pizza during a re-tray or re-box. Monday nights can be pretty busy during football season and with their pizza special. My friend and I ordered a coke, a pale ale, Irish fries, and a large pizza with two toppings, for a whopping total of $23! Tuesday nights is half-price pizzas. They also have weekly specials, so come every night! The interior is certainly a pub atmosphere with dimmer lighting, lived-in seating, stained menus, worn tables, dusty walls, and stained glass panels every dozen feet. For planning purposes, note that there is seating for large groups but mostly four-person tables and booths. Bathroom is not wheelchair accessible (too narrow). Daily newspaper shown in glass boxes above each urinal, to catch up on the day's news! The large pizza was rectangular and thin crust like Ledo Pizza, but amazingly crispy and flavorful square slices. It's greasy, it's pizza, what do you expect? Just enjoy it! Toppings were generous, evenly distributed, and fresh. A large is more than enough for two adults. We had about 6 slices leftover each. If we didn't get the appetizer we would have finished the large with no leftovers. Straws are plastic, if that is of concern to you. Will take pictures on my next visit.
