Reported to BBB, Attorney General, DOT, and FMSCA. If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down the worst moving experience of my life. We were quoted for an 8-hour move that was supposed to take 2-5 days for delivery. Instead, it took almost a month before we finally received our belongings. First we were told up to 5 days, then 14, and ultimately we waited four weeks, with a 10-year-old and an 80-year-old left without basic necessities. On the day of pickup, the price was suddenly almost doubled, even though every item was listed on the original inventory and quote. Because of this last-minute bait-and-switch, we were forced to leave behind a large amount of our things -- and worse, the movers completely forgot to pack several items that we discovered only after they left. For nearly a month, we had no idea where our belongings were. We even offered to have another moving company pick them up after two weeks of waiting, but were told "no," leaving us feeling like our items were being held hostage. Communication was nonexistent: the company never answered phones, and both the brokerage (New Start Relocation) and the movers dodged responsibility at every turn. When the truck finally arrived, they showed up without notice, refused to let me even look at my things on the truck until I paid cash up front, then tried to charge me another $850 to move items into the building because the driver "wouldn't" park the semi closer to the elevator (something other movers have easily managed, that falls within DOT regulations, I checked after they tried to use that excuse). Instead, they dumped everything in the parking lot. I had to call a co-worker to help me carry it all in myself; and this was only 5 pieces of furniture and boxes, not some massive job. To make matters worse, nearly everything is broken. Both dressers, our nightstands, my brand new dishes that were packed by and managed to be shipped across the country by the retailer. Our record player, Christmas decorations, pictures, and vases all completely trashed. After paperwork was signed, the driver demanded another $200 in cash. When I refused, he stood there yelling at me in another language. This behavior was aggressive, predatory, and completely unacceptable. To add insult to injury, at pickup I was pressured into leaving a 5-star review under their supervision; they even took a photo of my phone screen after forcing it. That's not just unprofessional; it's manipulative and unethical. This entire ordeal caused unnecessary stress, financial loss, and heartache. Had the brokerage or the movers been honest about the timeline and costs, we could have planned differently or chosen a reputable company. Instead, we were misled, overcharged, intimidated, and treated with complete disregard. I strongly warn anyone considering using this company or the brokers they work with: stay far away. read more

When booking with Amerisafe Van Lines, who then sent Stanford Van Lines to pack up my home on 10/27/25, JOB #A5383333, I was not told everything that I needed to be told regarding my move. I was told by Mark Ewards of Amerisafe that the move would take 4 to 5 days, for my move from Wisconsin to Alabama, as my move in date was 11/3/25. It was never explained to me how moving long distance works and everything that comes with it. No one told me that my things would be stored in a storage somewhere In Illiois before actually being delivered to my location in Alabama. When calling Stanford Van Lines customer service, people there answering the phones communication skills are HORRIBLE!!!! Each time I called these people inquiring about my delivery, it was always, I WILL CALL YOU BACK, and never got a call. Finally 3 weeks later I call Amerisafe, and I gets a call back from the Customer Service Manager, Veronica, who finally explained everything to me, which should have been done the day I booked my move. I finally get a delivery date of btw 11/24-26th. I was told I would get my delivery on the 24th, but get a call from Stanford Van Lines that the truck was having problems and it would be on the 26th. I was told I could use ZELLE, but then told by customer service the day of delivery that they wouldn't take ZELLE that I have to pay with POSTAL CASHIER CHECK instead. So being new here and not knowing my way around down here, I find the postal office and get the postal cashier check for 1200.00 instead of 1,101.00 (surprise added amount). After the driver (Mark) gets done with the delivery by himself, as the truck having problems was his partner had a medical issue and to go to the hospital. The delivery was completed and unpacking my things to discover there were things missing. To make a long, horrible story short, I waited from 10/27/25 to 11/26/25, to get my delivery. It was a BIG INCONVENIENCE, and now I know what NOT to do!!! As far as Amerisafe and Stanford Van Lines, I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND but use at your own risk. These people DO NOT give good customer service for the prices that they charge. No kind of compensation on their part for the LIES and inconvenience. The only thing I got was a lot of I'M SORRY!!! On the day of the delivery with this payment issues, it should not have been this difficult. COMMUNICATION SKILLS ARE HORRIBLE with both companies, and hopefully they get their acts together. I have moved several times before so this is not my first time moving, but since I am currently undergoing a divorce with a baby in tow, I was searching for the best moving deals, so that is when I made the biggest mistake of booking through a broker who offered me $1400.00 from Indiana to California for a 2-Bedroom Apt. The movers came and they proceeded to tell me the actual moving cost was $5,700.00!! I started to panic and immediately called the broker to cancel and they did not pick up. The movers started pressuring me to go with them or they were going to increase the price for waiting or they will leave. My baby was crying at this point and my stress was through the roof. They ended up leaving and I ended up losing my deposit of $700.00 which the broker pocketed. In the process of disputing this right now. I immediately called all local companies and almost none answered but out of the few that did, Stanford Van Lines was the one that picked up with a live US representative that luckily had availability on the same day I cancelled. The client specialist was very polite and professional, he setup a FaceTime visual survey for all the items I needed to move and quoted me a reasonable price almost instantly (but nowhere near the price the previous movers were demanding from me) I was a little nervous at first due to the previous experience but he kept reassuring me that everything is accounted for in the contract as long as I list all of my belongings and answer all of their questions as best and as accurate as I can. In the end, I was off by 3 boxes and a small painting but the driver was kind enough to keep the price the same. I did not even realise they are a white glove company due to how reasonable their prices are. The movers came were very friendly and looked like they genuinely like what they do and even made my baby laugh. They were in and out pretty quickly. I tipped them generously 20% because they went above and beyond and made sure to wrap all of my belongings perfectly. They also labeled everything and were very meticulous with how they packed and stacked my items. They even sent me a GPS link so I can view where my items are on the day of delivery which gave me reassurance and peace of mind that my items are the way to me. This entire experience caused stress, financial loss, and heartbreak. Had the company been honest about costs, timing, and process, we could have chosen differently. This company is NOT recommended!! They are not honest (thieves and liars!!) when it comes to price, pick up ( i was charged a thousand more because ithey said I had too many "more" boxes than expected) only to not deliver all of my items. The delivery that took a month after initial delivery date, arrived with broken furniture, Missing over half of what was loaded - claiming some stickers must've fell off of items/boxes. boxes were open and retaped. The driver slept while two persons downloaded the truck. When I expressed I was missing items he rushed me through the process, told me to take pictures and did not give me any paperwork. he said to write down the items and that I needed more time to go through boxes for miss items. I have been calling the company and whenever I enter in queue, the line drops. They did not take credit card as they initially promised. I had to pay them cash or zelle. They arranged pick up hours so zelle was not available- my bank, and two other banks of friends and family flagged this company as fraud. I left voicemails and still waiting for a callback. BBB has been contacted and I am already looking to pursue legally as I have pictures and video of items. this company is a scam!!! Trying to get away with. a neighbor is going to volunteer their video as well that shows all the items loaded Into the truck. The person that loaded the truck (only one person) took over 5 hours loading! while I feel he did a good job, he was forgetting a few items that I had to remind him. This is with regard to an ongoing move for my mother (Ann). Stanford Van Lines is currently holding her belongings hostage. As a senior (69 years old), she feels completely foolish for having been swindled by Stanford Vanlines Inc., as well as the broker Amerisafe. After going through what she researched to be a reputable moving broker (Amerisafe), she was transferred to Stanford for her cross-country move. She was originally quoted $6000 to move her 1200 sq ft home into a 1100 sq ft apartment. She does not have many things, and she made everything as clean and easy as possible for the movers. However, now she is nearly 3 weeks without her belongings, with no estimated date of delivery. She is also being charged $4000+ more than originally quoted. She is looking into any and all options for recourse. She has filed a complaint with the BBB and USDOT. She is also looking into getting local law enforcement involved and reaching out to the local news, in addition to filing a small claims court action for the disputed amount if she is forced to pay. read more

Extremely Disappointed with Service and Communication** I wish I could give zero stars for my experience. I initially received an estimate of $4,200, but was then informed that I would need to pay an additional $6,000 on the day of pickup. While I understand that costs can change, the lack of transparency is concerning. I scheduled my delivery and was informed it would take place promptly. However, it has now been **10 days** since I last heard from anyone. When I finally managed to get a response, I was told that there is no confirmed delivery date and that it could take up to **30 days** to receive my order. This is completely unacceptable. I'm moving from the Midwest to the West Coast. It is a big deal. I downsized but still had a 4 bedroom home and huge amount of lifetime possessions. Stanford Van Lines loaded my household onto one of their semi- trucks. The experience was the best i could ever imagine. Each worker was professional, careful, and quick. My home was loaded in one day and that was a 9 am to 4 pm day. Everything went well. Nothing was a stress. I was taking care of my last minute personal issues without ever needing to be concerned with the move going on in my own house. I have a perfect memory of the whole experience. Moving is so incredibly stressful but our movers were the absolute dream team. I've never seen two guys work so quickly, efficiently, and with such great spirits the entire time. Noe and Eddie made what could have been such a nightmare into an absolutely delightful experience. They stayed in touch with us during the travel, followed instructions with ease and readiness; and absolutely flew through loading and unloading the truck. They did an absolutely outstanding job. We had a large move a five bedroom house with a three car garage and they completed everything in just two days. Their work ethic was truly impressive: they worked quickly and efficiently while handling every item with great care and attention to detail. What stood out even more was their dedication, they were on their feet the entire time. I don't think I saw them sit down once over the two days. Their energy and focus never wavered, and it made a stressful move feel smooth and manageable. I did read the terms to avoid any additional charges that can be potentially incurred across the trip like shuttle fees, stairs, and long carry which are all completely valid. I hired STANDFORD VAN LINES for a local residential move from a 2 bedroom apartment to a townhouse. The movers arrived a bit later than scheduled, but once they started, they worked efficiently.. Most of my items were handled carefully, Although a couple of boxes were slightly dented. We are a family of 5, with an infant, and we were without our items, after A big move for a month!
