Let me start off with this is not a bad burger. My biggest issue is my burger being cooked well done when I asked for medium rare. I also think the price is a tad too high. $17 for a burger and fries not including a drink is a little steep. Parking is not the best. Make sure not to park in the lot across the street, otherwise you will probably be towed. The service was fine. You go to the front and order. They'll give you a number and then bring out your food. When I'm rating restaurants, if something is five stars, then it wowed me. Four stars is equivalent to I would come back. Really cool hole in the wall/ dive bar esque diner in the heart of Houston. Parking is pretty much street parking.. The inside is slightly underground and you order up front. Burgers are quite solid and fries are tasty. Haven't been disappointed with the food in the times that we've been here. Atmosphere - Very inviting , diner like feeling sweet and nice people greeting you . Classic Burger - so this burger wasn't as juicy as I was expecting , in fact it was more on the dry side . I really love a good juicy patty . The meat was well done I prefer medium or medium well , and the buns were toasted to perfection . I added jalapeños ( these seemed like pickled jalapeños ) I would have preferred grilled . It was a delicious bite just not the hype I was expecting . Solid 4 stars. Good specialty burger selection. I had the Cowboy Brunch. It was loaded with up with an fried egg, bacon and onions, on Texas toast. It was good and I cannot complain. Everyone else just got regular burgers and they said they were good. My only real complaint about the meal was the bacon cheese tots. They used a processed cheese sauce that had little to no flavor. It just made the tots soggy and was just an unappetizing mess. The regular fries were ok. All in all a good place to get a burger, however far from the best burger joint ever. Settled for grilled cheese (struck out on their vegetarian options I guess), basic, cheese wasn't even melted thoroughly, nothing to write home about. Sandwich was filling, thick bread. I ordered the mrs.piggy & waffle fries My daughter ordered the sliders And my husband ordered the monster with Cajun fries . I'll start with the positives , the waffle fries were DELICIOUS , flavor was good, perfect combo of crispyness ect . Interior was interesting / different : On the other hand ... burger on the other hand was just ok , really a disappointment. It was under cooked , and really lacked flavor . My daughter while eating said this is SO good .. besides the meat .. I said well what do you like then ? " the bread , cheese .. ketchup ! Ha Also the tables were very wobbly .. we tried several so it wasn't just ours . This place was easy to find. And I got lucky- I found a parking spot in front. Walked in and ordered the Original Bacon Cheeseburger without the Cheese and frings (Fries & onion Rings). People were filling in quickly; I am glad I got here before noon.Though there is plenty of room if it were to get packed. Looking around I am somewhat scared... everyone who has finished their meal looks sleepy - that ain't good for seeming I'm going into work in 40 minute. My order came out and I was like_______. Yeah that what I mean. My food was picture perfect. The fries were hot slightly crunchy and good. When I bit into the onion rings- it's was like the very first time that ever ate an onion ring. Don't let my review discourage you from visiting Stanton's. I still think they are in the top 3 burger joints in Houston. We just happened to have gone on a bad day and time. I came here with my kids about 45 minutes to close time. We ordered our burgers from the lady or rather the teen that was at the counter (far from friendly) and grabbed a spot to sit. I saw that there were like only teens working, which was kind of odd. Our food came out after 20 minutes. Our burgers were crumbling into pieces. I wasn't sure what was up with that. Its very annoying to have a burger crumble right in front of you, because instead of enjoying devouring the burger, you're busy trying to keep it afloat. While my kids ordered well done, their patties were definitely medium. I discovered this as the patties had crumbled. Unfortunately, they lost their taste buds after discovering the undercooked meat. Their French fries were off too. Over fried and extremely salty. We got the Cajun ones and it was a mistake. While starting to eat around 840ish, we felt so rushed as the employees were cleaning tables around us, hinting towards a closure soon. If I'm going to be honest, this burger is average. I got the cowboy brunch and wish I got something else. Don't get me wrong - the burger was not bad. They sadly don't offer fries with the burger, it's an additional charge so that's one tiny negative. They have many options for drinks; bottled sodas, beer, and fountain drinks of course. Takes a few minutes for your food to come to you but it's definitely because it's cooked on the spot to be ready for you! I have been coming here for almost 10 years now. They still make the same quality burgers. They renovated recently but the ambiance is still not that great. Service is decent but not something I'd highlight. Also, they stopped serving vegan options and many things were out of stock on my last visit. I hope they bounce back though. They've done it, folks, we can all go home. They've perfected the classic burger. Operating from an old-school white house in the Heights, Stanton's slings burgers, sandwiches, salads, and sides that take simple ingredients and make them sing. I was hungry, so I couldn't resist ordering the aptly named Monster Burger, a mouth-watering behemoth consisting of a full pound of beef in the form of two stacked patties, bacon, 4 slices of American cheese, and fixings. It was everything you want in a burger. The meat was well-salted, soft with some nice crusty bits. The cheese was gummy and creamy and kept the whole thing from falling apart. The bacon had a sharp snap to it and wasn't especially greasy. The crispness of the lettuce, acidity of the pickles/onions, and punch of the mustard all played key roles. The most pleasantly surprising part was the buttery, chewy brioche bun that was expertly toasted and wasn't even a lick soggy. OK now for the downsides because, yes, even 5/5 establishments can have a few blemishes. Did I think my burger, tastiness notwithstanding, was worth $16? Meh, maybe not since it didn't really rely on premium ingredients, though it's probably a quantity-related mark up. The fries were so-so, well-seasoned but not as crispy as I like. Also, for what it's worth, my wife wasn't the biggest fan of her Luke Skyburger. She found deep-frying the bacon to be unnecessary, as the strips kind of lose their fatty, meaty flavor, and she also wished they had slapped on more shrooms. The only disappointment that we had were their bacon cheese fries. We all thought they were reminiscent of cheap carnival or stadium cheese fries and were definitely not worth the price. I still opt for THE turkey burger, garnished with spinach, mushrooms, and swiss, though sometimes I'll just sub the turkey into one of the other burger recipes for funsies. Fries are fresh, hot, and seasoned perfectly - I always drool when I think about those curly fries - and the service is efficient and friendly. Portion sizes are very generous; a single order of fries is enough for 2-3 people and each burger is a double-hand affair. What more can you want? Crispy to the perfect extent. Their fountain machine for the sodas wasn't working but they did awesome with the bottled beverages. There were so many options! We got the raspberry tea and a peach tea! Equally good! My boyfriend ordered the holy cow burger which has multiple kind of cheeses on it. So good! This specific time, my friends and I tried their brunch burger, Luke Skywalker burger, Chipotle burger, and their chicken strips. Everything was better than expected! The burgers are a great size, the average person would get full on just half. The meat was super juicy, and the unique toppings on their burgers are delicious. My personal favorite is their brunch burger because it's comes with a runny fried egg and is served on buttery Texas toast, so freaking good! With plenty of side options like crispy onion rings or sweet potato fries, there is something that everyone would love here. This may be my new favorite burger place! Luckily we came at an off time (around 3pm) and there was still a small crowd and I could see parking being an issue during peak times. I ordered the Cowboy Brunch burger with curly fries and added the Cajun seasoning for an extra 50 cents. This half pound monster of a burger was delicious! It's served on Texas toast and topped with fried pickels, over medium egg and sauteed onions. The egg yolk soaked into the toast perfectly to add a rich flavor to the already juicy burger. The fries were perfectly cooked though I wish I had not added the Cajun seasoning. Was a little too salty for me. Would have been just perfect without it. I also got to try the Holy Cow burger. To me this was just more of a traditional bacon cheeseburger but still delicious. The beef Patty was so large it broke in half. The burger is pretty juicy so don't Dilly dally when it comes to eating the burger. We munched on the fries before starting on the burger and I think the delay allowed the bottom bun to get a little on the soggy side even though it was toasted. The only thing I wish they would change is to have tap water available instead of having to purchase bottled water since all their drink selections ate bottled and not fountain. Out of the four different type of fries which included classic, curly, tator tots, and waffles. My favorite would have to be the waffle fries. Super crunchy and huge portion on all the fries. My spicy chipotle burger could have been more spicy. Burger was juicy and the meat was grilled just right. The bun was hot and veggies were fresh. Quite a meal. I was able to finish most of it. The owner, Theresa was very friendly and accommodating to our big party of 28 people. A few concerns were made because the inside was not known to be big but they did a great job. We occupied about 3 tables that was set up in the middle of the place. Everything went swiftly. My entire party enjoyed their burger and fries. We had a blast here catching up and chatting away.
