Disaster with a capital "D." I came in tonight because I was inspired by the positive reviews. I ordered a classic burger and they asked the temperature. I clearly asked for "medium" with grilled onions. When it came out, the burger was well done with no onions (and just one lousy pickle). I had the remake it and once again, the burger was charred. There was nothing remotely "medium" or "medium well" about it. Fries were frozen and totally not memorable. I don't understand why this is such a celebrated place. If I could give a 1/2 star I would. Parking in front of the building is a bit limited so if you're not able to get there right when they open, expect to park across or down the street. Onto the food. I ordered a Classic Burger (if you're more adventurous try the Miss Piggy) with onion rings and eggrolls on the side. Never came across a burger joint that serves eggrolls before, but it works well for these guys and they taste great! Burger had a little grease, but not enough to make the burger fall apart. Food- I ordered when i got there, to go. Place was empty, only few ppl came to pick up there to go order. I had planned to eat there but decided against it. First up, onion rings- which were good, hot and well put together batter and flavor. Some onion rings rip apart and go soggy quick, these did not, would recommend. Next,The spicy Chipotle burger- I liked it, not really spicy as most of have already said, just a kick, includes bacon. Last the the Mushroom burger. Which also included bacon? It was not the juiciest, but tasted good. Did like meat to bun ratio. Customer service not there strong suit, cashier left me waiting for a bit, and when she came back she seemed like she did not want to be there (she wasnt angry, just distant/aloof). I would have to return back to confirm if this is a pattern? Prices were $10 a burger, cheaper than todays usual standard prices from most burger places. Overall can recommend. What a cute little place. Always on a quest for the best burgers. Just driving around on a Sunday and ran across this place. I love a step back in time and the decor was so cool. The burgers were really good but mine was a little more rare than I like. But that's only because I didn't know that they made them that way so probably if I asked them to make it more well done they would do that. The flavor was real good. This was the first time I've seen a burger that had the veggies on the bottom bun instead of on top. But the taste was good. The french fries, of course were good and crispy. Thick, juicy, perfectly cooked (medium rare), flavorful burger patty. Couldn't imagine a better version. I'd recommend eating in though. We ordered take-out and the bun got soggy really fast. The one negative aspect of a juicy burger patty, I guess. Other than that, it was a great burger (I had the Holy Cow). A tip for take-out: skip the chili fries -- they got soggy quickly as well. As of April 2022, Stanton City Bites is still TO-GO only. I forgot how much I really liked this place. I stopped by after a climbing session down the street and worked up an appetite. I met up a friend and noticed that the place is still togo only. I'm not sure if masks are still required, but I still wore one. The sign on the door says no mask, no entry, but I definitely saw a few people drop by with no masks picking up togo orders. I had the spicy chipotle burger and shared an order of chili cheese fries. And man oh man, the burger was juicy, tasty, and delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh and I inhaled my burger. Their buns are fluffy and just the right amount of bite in a burger bun. 10/10 My friend ordered the Luke Skywalker burger with the crispy fried bacon and he also inhaled his burger. 10/10 As for the chili cheese fries, I definitely loved it. I feel like its almost better than Henderson and Kane (yikes!). I kept texting my significant other how good their burger and fries were and that we needed to make a stop together one day. When we got our food, my friend and I decided to pop the hatch and eat on the back of my SUV. It was a nice day out, and we didn't want to drive home to eat our burger. Went to SCB again this weekend! This time we tried the Miss Piggy burger and the Holy Cow burger with a side of tots. The tots were awesome -- very crispy and fresh. Of the burgers, the Holy Cow was very good (the mixture of cheeses is perfect with the burger). The Miss Piggy certainly earned its name very bacon and pork forward in its flavor. My family and I visited Stanton's this evening for the first time and it was solid! While the fries (waffle, cajun, Italian), tots and onion rings were all decent, what stood out to me was my burger! I got the Spicy Chipotle burger, which in my opinion honestly wasn't spicy, but it did have great depth of flavor. I especially enjoyed the jalapeño bun it was served on. For a Friday it seems to be bustling during lunch hour. This place is unique. It has a classic man 60-70's chill vibe. Almost feels like a man cave. I heard this place started out as a grocery store that served burgers on Monday and eventually converted to a full time restoraunt after popular demand for their burgers. The menu seems to be full of unique options that give your tastebuds a run for options if that's what you want in a hamburger place. I ordered the Blue Moon burger with Italian Fries. I really enjoyed the smooth and savory taste of this blue cheese burger. I felt the onions were a little over grilled but I want complaining as the char just added that extra flavor. It was built by my great grandmother, Dora Franke. She was the workhorse of the family due to my great grandfather's drinking. She started a boarding house, a laundry, and a livery stable. She cooked for the residents every day. They delivered laundry in a horse drawn buggy. Houston's streets were dirt. The house used to be one story, but it was raised and a new addition was built underneath the original house. That's how they did it then. I've only eaten there once and took my mother when she was still in her 90s Great owners, and the burgers were great! They treated my mother with special care and respect. read more
