I came in for a simple printing service. The staff at the front desk was very unprofessional in advising and listening to my needs. To print four documents, it took me nearly 30 minutes to troubleshoot with the computers, self-service printing and eventually, the staff member printing from his own computer. read more

This review is for the print shop. I've been here several times over the past couple months and for the most part the staff has been super helpful. They do tend to get busy at times but usually address you right away. The only bad customer service I've had recently, which is odd, was with the assistant manager. He wasn't horrible but definitely not friendly nor helpful. I understand there was a line but it wasn't crazy. Coming from someone who always works in Manhattan I understand things get chaotic, but his indifference put me off. Thankfully the girl who helped me was really nice and took her time with me. Absolutely stunned by the rude staff and lack of customer assistance. We wanted to print one single sheet of iron-print paper, which cumulatively should have taken 12 minutes. Instead, the reps refused to help us in the time we were in the store. They told us we needed to wait 4-5 hours for it to be done, and refused to work with us to make a compromise. They spent time having us email them a pdf of our design, inputting our contact info into their system for pick-up and making our $1.79 purchase into an $8 trip due to round trip subway fees. It probably would have been cheaper and faster for us to order and ink-jet printer on Amazon prime and do it ourselves. read more

Do not go here for printing custom cards, stationary, etc. The first time I used them and will be the last. They printed the back upside down, even using their online template that clearly states front and back and I uploaded correctly. They were nice enough to reprint for free but then aligned incorrectly. Now there is a border on the left side of my cute holiday card of another image. I called to complain and they refunded which is why the extra star. But for printing, definitely go somewhere else! read more

Stopped in around 7:44 am Monday to try to get a 45 doc printed in color in a pinch. While I was able to get the printing done, I came away feeling negative about the service provided here. I would advise you to find a kinkos if you find yourself in the same "pinch" I knew I was in trouble from the first moment when the attendant was off the desk when I walked in. As I didn't know where / what the print center was here I had to wait for someone to appear to ask the question. Next, I was pointed to the print center where I got started. Getting the document printed was easy enough but I could have done it twice as fast if I had not needed to figure it out on my own. Again, the employee on this side was either two busy, or didn't care enough to take any interest in what I was doing. These are small things but generally speaks to an unmotivated / unengaged work force, which usually does not bode well for the rest of the visit. Such a workforce works when you are hawking office products at a spread, but won't do for a service offering like copy solutions. Either way, I got the printer started. At 35+ usd for a 47 page doc, I was a bit taken aback on price. Was willing to let that slide, until it became apparent that my print job would take 7+ minutes with the spooling occurring two pages at a time, painfully slow. I use a color printer at work that prints 5 times as fast, easily. This printer was slow, like 90s slow, like you can buy a printer for a nominal fee that works this fast. That slow printer, combined with everything else, really made me feel that I had paid a premium price for a low grade service. I started the review while the job was printing, took my pages, tried to staple them with the only stapler visible, failed because the stapler was not big enough, looked for one second to see if someone was watching me fail at this and possibly prepared assist, shook my head as no one was, and walked out. This place is open 24/7. And I mean that seriously. This place has REALLY great customer service, and while the layout IS completely non-intuitive, it's a great Staples with many customer service people willing to help you find what you need (word to the wise, index cards are on the wall where the elevator is, in the corner closest to the street). The only possible other detractor is they don't have people working the upstairs registers (so why are they there if no one staffs them?). They almost always have what you need, and if you don't see it, or if it appears out of stock, someone will show you where it should be, and if it's not there, will check the back for you. Staples staff are super rude and racist. As we were trying to do a school project: find a specific object and record how you find it. And their staff just started yelling and us and kicking us out of the store, saying that we couldn't be there unless we were not shopping. I was thinking of buying and file binder there but I was kicked out because the staff thought we weren't shopping. How ridiculous!! He told us we couldn't take pictures and we put our phones away. And he still yelled at us. I wonder how it's a store selling stuff to people for study and work which doesn't allow people to study and even to buy stuff?! I visited this Staples location during the infamous back to school season. It was a mad house with people and an overage of school supplies everywhere! To my surprise the store was still a bit orderly as far as not having supplies thrown across the floors. There was an adequate amount of staff available both at the registers and throughout the store to assist in locating the various supplies. The signage of the products and their prices were visible and clearly labeled. I would say the hardest part of the visit was just maneuvering around the excess people and finding alternatives when you happen to come across the empty shelves. On a plus, I saw that they now carry school planners that follow the actual school year, from July to June as opposed to just 2019 from January to December. Back to school shopping is never a walk in the park but this STAPLES location was more than up for the job. read more

I needed to do a simple print job and i ended up being bounced around from service ass to service ass none of whom knew how to produce a prepaid card in order to access machines. First response when the card machine was empty "guess you cant do your work here." I eventually chased down a card which malfunctioned as soon as i swiped it. This location is same as any other staples stores, came in here to pick up some school supply for my slibings. It's a convenient location right next to union square for the NRQ456 train station along with the m14a and m14d buses. The customer service for me was decent there were a few rude workers who just answer a question and quickly rushed away. However there is other workers with better service and actually took their time to help. read more

COPY CENTER REVIEW: I frequent Staples and their competition for office supplies and Copy Center. This time around I submitted my online order because their full service machines are higher caliber than their self service machines. I love this location because they operate 24 hours a day. My online order was simple, several resume prints in color. Submitted order at 4pm with a 4:31am pick up time and received notice they were done within 20 minutes of submitting. I walked in waltzed upstairs and found a folder, then jumped down to the copy center. Quarters are tight when its busy but I stood in queue to pick up my order and was done. i use to hate this staples. in fact i dont have much nice to say about any of them mainly because the customer service is across the board lame. but then they remodeled this place and change their polo shirt designs and actually trained the staff to say "good morning, how are you. can i help you with something today?" when you walk in the door. ok, so it doesnt exactly sound genuine and sincere but with a few more acting classes that can be fixed. so why the five stars? they just made this store 24 hours. in this lean economy where places are cutting back on services and hours of operation they made a gutsy move. i love my nyc convenience factors and this wipes away all the agonizing experiences i ever had at this staples. read more

I just have to say that the employees in your printing department do not like there job whatsoever. They are rude and do not help at all.. four people standing there and just on there phones. All I wanted to do was print something out. If you don't have a credit card, you have to buy a card for 5$ and then put more money on it.. that's crazy and on top of that the computer said I wasn't charging for the upload of system and did charge me .. I was on the computer for no more then 3min and charged me about 6$ when it says .30 cents a minute. Never will I go to this staples for anything. They don't even deserve this one star read more

I went to the staples on upper eastside, but it was too far to pick up what I was looking for, I asked them other locations, they gave me the address and directed me on how to get there. The union square Staples also had good customer service. The moment I entered the store all the workers smiled at me and asked if I needed any help. I went to the counter and showed them the battery I was looking for, he kindly told me to wait and everyone kept checking or asking if I needed anything else. The staff welcomed me as I walked in. Unexpected but appreciated I suppose-- it definitely seemed like it was at the behest of a manager as I didn't get any eye-contact or even a friendly tone. Then while paying for my items the cashiers carried on a conversation between themselves the entire time. It was impressive that my cashier was able to ring me up without even looking at me once. This Staples chain is open 24/7 which is great if you ever need to use the Copy/Print services at odd times of the day as I do. It's great to find a 24/7 place open, especially during our economy where everybody is finding any means to cut their services. Primarily, folks shopping here should really stick to their office/stationary supplies and copy/print center. While you occasionally might find deals, the electronics section tends to be fairly overpriced. It's probably why that area of the store is usually empty. They have a good healthy selection of office and stationary supplies which has their prices on par with the market. Additionally, their copy/print services is pretty awesome. I have yet to find any mistakes by them and whatever I request is always done earlier than the time I've marked down for pick up. Do keep an eye out for when they do discounts on this area online! I saved a crazy 30% off during November and December using their coupon line when submitting orders. read more

I've been reading many of the other reviews and I have to say these are quite biased, although the center is usually quite busy they seem to have a pleasant staff who caters to everyone. Even with customers yelling and screaming and creating a show they politely and quickly handle most of their problems in a professional matter. I've done so many jobs here and will continue to place all my business needs in their hands. Horrible customer service at this location. Was looking to purchase a scientific calculator, needed assistance because I wanted to make sure I was buying the right thing. There were four sales associates in the corner talking amongst themselves I asked for help over 10 times. Each associate ignored me. one even told me no he was with someone else. But what about ur other 3 employees that were just standing around? I felt highly disrespected! What kind of training are u giving your employees? I will never spend my money in this location ever! And everyone at the bottom floor near the computer chairs that's for sale should be fired! U don't get paid to stand around and tell ur customers ur not going to help them. Never again! The staff has little knowledge of products and tends to be overly rude. The manager was one of the most rude individuals I have encountered in a professional setting. Overall this store has been consistently the worst customer experience I have encountered. The stories are countless but I will highlight one. I had a staples gift card, went to the store to use it and at checkout the employee at the counter stated "I am not sure you can use these for phone purchase" really!?!?!? as the assistant manager came over she was about equally as useless as they held me there as she called other stores, nearing the end of this 2 hour debate she decided she would not accept the gift card.. me being a rational adult in a professional setting asked her to please show me in writing any exclusions on the gift card. After another 30 minutes of her incompetent shuffling she was unable to produce anything and rudely stated I can't accept it for what you want call corporate if you have a problem with that.. I did my due diligence to find out who the store manager was as that previous individual was an Assistant. I confirmed his hours and went in to 7 to meet him. Surprise Surprise he was not in. I called the store later to find out he did not show up until after 9. (great way to run a retail business for 2 hours of operation with no manager on site, especially when his hours are communicated by the staff). I was able to reach him on the phone and he stated we don't take gift cards for phones. I politely expressed can you please show me anywhere in writing where that is stated. He admitted its not so I asked him to honor the gift card in the terms it was purchased "valid for any in store purchase" and her refused. Then made an excuse as to why he can't escalate the matter "company retreat for corporate" before rudely hanging up the phone. As a consumer I have never felt more disrespected and helpless. read more

It's solely about the manager Richard. He is not what a Staples manager should be: friendly, welcoming, retaining customers. He was rude when I tried to price match one of their biggest competitors - Office Depot - mixing information about a product rebate (which is not even processed by the store). On a previous occasion, he declined giving some discount for an open box laptop - any other Staples would be happy to provide 5 to 10 percent discount, it's how they do business. just wanted to take a moment to say what a lovely experience I had at the tech serve counter. clearly no one wants to have computer troubles. It's frustrating and personal and alway on a timeline that is less than ideal. CINDY was an angel....proactive and professional. My computer was reset to factory settings, had a new hard drive installed and was back in my apt within 24 hours. She left two follow up voice mails and I felt very taken care of...bravo! I've gone to this Staples several times to pick up both school supplies and special orders for my internship/job on special emergency assignments. The store is very orderly. The workers are always super helpful. And the selection is always vast. Now the prices ...well you've been to Staples before. They can be a tad bit pricey compared to other places in the other boroughs. But hey, chances are you will find what you're looking for. If you have a bit of time before needing to purchase a specific item, the chain is known for having decent sales on certain items. read more

I am constantly in this Staples and they usually have what I need. One thing that drives my crazy is the overly solicitous staff. The management at Staples must tell the staff to greet and interact with every customer. I hate being yelled at "Hello, welcome to Staples" from across the store...and then every single staff member asks me how am I and do I have any questions. I'm just there to by paper clips and copy paper. I don't need a huge welcome or to be asked if I need help 50 times. I want to get in and get out...fast! It's not a "brand" experience. It's just office supplies. And, why are customers now referred to as "guests"? If I was a guest you wouldn't be charging me for stuff. I am happy with "next" or "can I help you". Avoid this store like the plague. Went in this morning to buy a cordless phone. The salesman took it from the locked display case and brought it to the register while we continued shopping. When we finally got to the register the cashier started ringing up an extended warranty for the phone. When I questioned her about that, she said the salesman said that's what I wanted. The salesman and I never discussed any such thing. He lied. The cashier said "oh, it must be our mistake". Apparently they do this all the time, and whenever a customer notices just take it off. Extremely unethical. I've read of other office supply chain stores doing this, and now I guess Staples is too. Buyer beware - pay attention to all the extraneous things they're adding to your bill without your consent or knowledge. read more
