I just bought an item today. A little after I got to my car, I realized the item I bought had a hole. I went right back to the store and asked if I could exchange the item for a similar item. The guy at the register said they do not do exchanges. Keep in mind, it's within an hour since I bought the item, with tags and the receipt. He said I would have to return the item completely and buy it again. My husband had my card so I didn't want to have to go back and forth so I asked if it was possible for him to give me a store credit so I could use the credit to rebuy the same item. He said that he could not do that. I worked register like 25 years ago as a teenager and that was never a problem. I realized I was dealing with someone lazy and incompetent so I asked my husband to bring me the card I used so I can just return the item completely, which I did. What a pain in the ass! Came here to use their printing services. I needed to print some black and white documents. You can use the self serve or have them do the printing for you. I chose to do it myself. The cost per page is $0.15 per page in black and white. Just bring in your thumb drive and plug it in and go. Unfortunately you can't select all of your separate documents but have to print them one at a time. You insert your credit or debit card and do everything at the machine. You don't need to check out with a cashier. If you have questions they can help with machine usage, etc. read more

He checked and double checked to ensure that my packages were correctly addressed and would arrive at their destinations as quickly as possible at the lowest prices. It's rare to get such personal service typically, but even more so during the holidays. After working with Young, I felt valued as a customer. He really went above and beyond to help me. The service here is actually pretty good! But for the number of people working the floor, you'd think they could have more registers open... I digress. It's actually a really big store. I don't think I've ever been here and they didn't have what I was looking for. Besides the obvious (office and school supplies), they have a surprisingly large amount of snack food. You can bring your old printer cartridges here, which is great! And they also now accept Apple Pay. Trying to get a document printed and the person who works at their print shop in the evening made this a very difficult experience. After going back & forth by email a couple of times eventually I give up and have my document printed at Walgreens. A few days later I try to purchase a laser printer at this store. Website says there is "1 in stock" so I drive over. The rather apathetic store clerk informs me that they probably don't have it and the "1 in stock" message refers to the floor model which is not for sale. At first I thought he was joking, but then I actually tried the online checkout option and sure enough the online order was cancelled immediately because the store is out of stock. So Staples shows items as available on their site even though they know that they don't carry them. This store also has a very lenient pet policy: last time I saw a woman walk her small dog in there which started licking the items it could reach; you probably don't want to purchase items low to the ground in that store unless you are okay with spit on them. read more

OK but nothing very specialized. I guess for offices that need to get their generic supplies, this is a great place (as it seems that most of the offices I know buy from Staples anyways). But just for personal consumption, if you want to find that special pen or a particular watercolor set, this won't serve you too much. Since I had to go to nearby TJ Maxx anyways, I stopped to get some Stabylos for my drawing projects, but could not find the variety of colors I needed (therefore I ended up another day at Blick in Little Italy). Even Michaels seems to have better assortment and more specialized than Staples. This store is good for just Bic pens in bulk quantities, same with paper for your printer and very generic things. Cheaper than other places, so that is their plus. read more

Came here and bought some gift cards a month or so ago. Ended up losing one so I came back here to get a copy of the receipt. To the employee (I think he was a manager), his name was Tim...WOW! I gave him the information and he was able to pull it up and reprint it! Nice! Store is well laid out, clean, efficient, and easy to navigate. Big signs everywhere and fast checkouts. What a disaster! I went in to this store to buy some pencils and was told that the only way to get the pencils that I wanted was to go to Stapes.com as they no longer stocked this particular kind in the store. I ordered the item and was charged the following day. I was told that the order had been shipped. One month and three emails to customer service later, I receive an email stating that "We were unable to fully process your recent Staples order" and that the order "has not shipped and you have not been billed for this item"! So I was told "it's on the way" (three times) and, big surprise, they never shipped it and charged me anyway. I had to call them personally to get my money back. Staples is a joke! I won't be shopping at any Staples store, nor Staples.com again. They are, at worst, lying thieves or, at best, totally inept stooges that do not even know what they have or have not shipped (despite having already charged their customers)! Taylor in the copy/print section went ABOVE & BEYOND to help my husband and myself yesterday with some printing needs for an event that our non-profit was volunteering at last night. Taylor was able to print a large poster for us in roughly 5 minutes and he helped us glue it to a poster board. He was by far the most helpful employee I've ever encountered at any Staples store! He was knowledgeable, kind, efficient and extremely helpful - literally the best customer service I have experienced in a LONG time! We need more Taylors in the World! read more

UPS Certified DropOff/Shipping: worst customer service ever. Take an unsealed package to the UPS DropOff and the customer service rep asks if I had tape and I said no. He goes on to say that he doesn't have tape and that the only tape they have says Staples on it and it would cover the label. So I took my package and left. I go back a few months later to get the same job done and suddenly they are incompetent in knowing how to do it and their printing software doesn't work to read PDFs. On more than one occasion they have advised me on how to better improve the images or text position and sizing. Service here has always been iffy, but today took the cake. There was 7 workers and 2 people in line and about under 10 customers in the store. I asked had to ask for help twice to get some storage bins. Ten minutes later someone came out. Luckily he took me over to another register to ring me up. I'm not the most tech-savvy individual, so when I needed assistance in ordering some products using their in-house computer (which I hadn't done before), Ernie took time from his busy schedule and guided me through the entire process. During other visits, whenever I had a problem, Ernie did whatever it took to make things right. He is awesome!! I've noticed that some reviewers have commented about Staples' prices. The company is willing to price-match most other competitor's prices, even Walmart's. Also, they have an environmentally-friendly policy of giving customers a $2 credit for each recycled ink cartridge (up to 10 at a time). The monetary-reward coupon is offered during the next month after the cartridges have been turned in. Benefits the customer AND the environment. read more

Time to shop for office supplies elsewhere! We bought two identical office chairs less than a month apart. Noticed when reviewing receipts that there was a $60 price difference. I expected to get a refund for the price difference but the manager bluntly refused as it was outside their 14 day. Maybe so, but I would have expected them to take the longer term view. We've spent thousands with them over the years. No more. I guess they believe that since the Office Depot close-by closed, they have more leverage over customers.
