I took my car to Stapley's in early January. They were very responsive and took great care to provide an accurate diagnosis. Although the cost was painful (involving timing chain, and so forth) they took great care to explain everything well. They made sure that I had transportation, including comping the cost of Uber and a Rent-A-Car. The staff were very professional and the repair was completed within three days. I would return to this business for further car care. To start with, i am a knowledgeable certified mechanic with many years experience and i was stumped by and electrical issue. I had listened to the radio to a help line show and looked at the web sight and saw Desert Car Care listed. I called to ask and he said, "bring it in" I had called places earlier who i had to schedule an appointment. Long story short, I brought it here, THOROUGHLY explained the issue, and the mechanic found the issue! It wasn't cheap, but it certainly wasn't out of line (again, being in the industry, i know). Feeling absolutely disgusted. They have lost a long time customer. We have been using Desert car care of Chandler for many years. I'm pretty sure at some point I gave them a five star review . We used to deal with Marc and Suzy... who were amazing. Not sure if the shop was sold or what but they weren't there when we dropped the car off Monday (they were always there). After an inspection, we received a quote for $7,500 to replace the power steering pump, front control arms, and rear shocks on our 2015 Nissan Parhfinder with 80k miles. Took it to another shop (where an acquaintance works), and their quote was $2k less to compare apples to apples, but the kicker is that upon inspection of the vehicle none of these repairs were necessary. read more

Was quoted $4,500 for a car that is maintenance every 2 months. Told me I need a electric water pump $700 plus $650 for labor. Called the Honda dealership and the tech has never had to change one in the 5 years he was been working there. Red Flag! I need new rear brakes $700 Honda dealership mentioned that I did not need any breaks and won't need them for a while Red Flag 2! Mentioned that in the future I also need new shocks and struts. The dealership did not agree. I am in sales and seeing how these scumbags operate disgust me. Be honest and don't charge people what they don't need. I went in for a routine oil change and a vehicle inspection and from the moment I arrived I was immediately warmly welcomed by the front desk workers. The lobby is nice, clean and welcoming. Brad took care of me and he was AMAZING! After the inspection we found some issues with my car and Brad patiently dealt with me, answered all my question and he contacted my insurance and made sure i was taken care of. Overall this was a really positive experience. They text you the estimated prices and they are very transparent. I found this place n 2019, shortly after moving here. We live less than a mile away. I called initially and spoke with Suzie. She was so friendly and patient. Her husband Mark started working here shortly after that, and he is just as awesome!. She offers suggestions. Tells me when something isn't necessary. They even offer Lyft rides from their business and back to their business. They also have some rental cars available if your car has to stay overnight. It's a much lower rate than anywhere else. I knew I wouldn't have to look any further. That alone is enough to keep you. But they also offer a free oil change around your birthday. And they are always going above and beyond for people. When I recently had to rent a car, I left my iPad in that car. As soon as I realized it, had already been rented out to someone else. Suzie got my iPad back and even offered to drop it off at my house. I was told she and Mark even delivered personal belongings to a customer out of state one time. Like, had to make a mini vacation out of it. You tell me who else will treat you like family and you can trust implacably in the Phoenix area. We are so blessed to live so close. read more

Got my oil changed here. I asked before the oil change about my fluids being refilled since I knew they were running low and my tires being rotated since they hadn't been since I purchased them. Regardless, neither was done in this service. I asked again for the fluids and waited by my car for 15 minutes before I had to just get my keys from them to make it to work after being there for 2 hours. As you can see, they even added the picture of my empty coolant and didn't add any. They said they would check if the tires needed rotating, but that's a preventative measure so I don't see what needs to be checked. I know they had a lot of customers that day, but their attention to my car (and me) made me feel like I was the only customer there. First off, they paid for a Lyft to get me to work and back to their shop. I received several text messages throughout the day with repair status updates. I think the thing that impressed me the most was the service writers. When I called to make the appointment, I had a friendly conversation with Jessica, making me look forward to my visit the next morning. When I walked through the door, I ran into itMark who was so pleasant, positive and friendly that I wondered for a second, "Is this really a service center?" He and I were definitely on the same wavelength and that was refreshing. Then Susie checked me in and she was just as sweet, positive and happy as Mark. I've been coming to Desert Car Care for several years for my quarterly oil change. I've never stayed at the same mechanic for oil changes long at all, but I can't help but keep coming back. Not only is it easy to schedule appointments by either calling or on their website, but the staff is always awesome! They are knowledgeable, friendly, engaging, it's different than anywhere I've gone. The price is good and I never feel pushed to do something because they recommend it. I'm a single woman and OFTEN get taken advantage of in these situations, at Desert Car Care, they simply inform me of items that may need to be addressed, their importance and then let me decide. Wow, night and day experience between the new and old owners. Buyer beware. Took my 3rd gen 4Runner in today for a scheduled oil change. Everything has been running fine, but I wanted to have it looked over since it just turned 200K miles. Probably should have listened to the first red flag and walked out. 1) I'm greeted at the desk and quoted $90+ for the oil change. I asked what kind of oil they were putting in and he said full synthetic. I asked how much for synthetic blend or conventional as that is what I usually use and he said they only have full synthetic (first time I've never had an option...anywhere, including here). After questioning the new ownership's practice, the guy says, "It's been like that since I've been here for the last month. Well, I don't really work here...I'm just a consultant." Another red flag...consultants are usually there to find ways to make the company more profitable. 2) Against my gut feeling, I let them keep the truck to do the oil change. I also left a list with all the services I've had done on the truck with mileage and dates. (All of the work was done by either me or a certified Toyota mechanic I know. Unfortunately, he hasn't been available for awhile...so here I am) A couple hours later I get a call from the consultant. I can already hear the excitement in his voice. He sounds delighted. He asks me if I'm sitting down because it's a long, expensive list. You know when you can hear someone smiling over the phone? That's what I was hearing, so I was already annoyed by him. Even if the truck needs everything he was about to quote, he already wasn't getting my business. He starts off by saying whomever last flushed my brakes ripped me off because the brake fluid was very dark. Ok genius, yes, it needs to be flushed...because it was flushed over 2 years ago! I don't drive the truck a lot (it's one of the least-used vehicles in the household), so it would make sense it is discolored after more than 2 years of sitting outside. Low mileage or not, it was due. Nobody "got taken for a ride" as you proclaimed. Way to try to make your customers feel like they've been scammed by "the other guy". He then continued with the rest of the $5000 list that, at this time, I'm not disputing (cv boots, UCAs, tranny/brake flush)...but I feel a need to crawl under there and verify. I told him to go ahead and button it up and just do the oil change. A couple hours later I had to call to find out if it was ready (it was) since they couldn't be bothered to let me know. They even left the old "next maintenance due" sticker on there. smh 3) After I picked up the truck, I pulled out into traffic and the truck immediately bogged down and wouldn't accelerate. The CEL flashed momentarily and then after maybe 100yds it started accelerating a bit closer to normal, but felt gutless. I pulled over into a parking lot and started checking over the engine bay. I noticed the air filter compartment wasn't completely closed so I opened it to look inside and found that their tech had put the air filter (panel-type) in backwards, thus jacking up my air/fuel mix until the ECU adjusted. What a joke... 4) After I arrived home I went through the quotes. Interestingly, there was a quote in there for something not noted in their technician's assessment. That was that I needed to replace my intake's air box. They quoted almost $700 (plus shop materials) for a part I can't find online for more than $300 and another $400 in labor for something that I can do myself in 30 mins, for a total of $1100. And again, there was NOTHING in the technician's notes about a problem with the air box. Only that the air filter could use replacing. I went out and looked at it myself (while replacing the filter) and couldn't find any cracks or breaks or anything of note that would require replacing it. There's a part of me that wonders if the backwards filter was a means to sell me a new airbox.....but I'll keep that conspiracy to myself. It's just laughable at this point. I've referred a lot of coworkers to DCCC, but after this experience I'm going to have to find each one and rescind my recommendation on bent knee. Frank and Susie were the best, honest, and reasonably priced....it's a shame that the new owners will get to ride the coattails of the reputation they built. I feel like all pictures and references to Frank & Susie should be taken off of this Yelp page and the rating reset. Based on the most recent reviews, it wouldn't be pretty. read more

I brought my 2000 Toyota 4runner in for an oil change about 5 months ago. My appointment was at 7:30am. I called at 5:00pm and they were still working on it. They didn't have it ready until 6:00pm. A few days later I noticed a small leak that appeared to be oil. Two weeks later I was looking at the front of my truck and noticed something hanging down from the bottom of the truck. It was the cap to my power steering reservoir! That is where the leak was coming from. I just took it in somewhere else for another oil change and they told me that my oil filter was loose and there was power steering fluid all over the column. My Mom brought her 2002 Ford Taurus in to DCC around the same time for an AC repair. It took a week for the repair! She doesn't drive it that often but noticed last week that she had a coolant leak. She took it to a different automotive repair place and they told her that whoever worked on her car last did not put one of her hoses back on! It was DCC. We also brought our 2010 Chevy Tahoe in to DCC for an oil change about three months ago. It took all day, even though we had a 7:30am appointment. When we picked it up and drove it home, we noticed that the oil change notification indicator was not reset. We had to bring it back! The workmanship and accountability that this company has displayed since the new owner took over is extremely poor. I used to recommend everyone to go to them as they had the best customer service and mechanics. Now, both have declined excessively costing customers more time and money. Came for the first time a few months ago and at first, everything seemed okay. Went in for a regular oil change with multi point inspection and told them I was heading out on a road trip the next week. They recommended things like wiper blade change, cabin air filter change, and fuel injection (all kind of pointless and extremely easy money makers for them). I thought the cabin air filter was odd as I had switched that out myself a little bit ago... During the road trip I heard some rumblings in the car somewhere so made a stop to check out what was under the hood. Luckily I checked because my coolant was bone dry. Had to stop by an auto zone to fill that up. Irresponsible shop that is just there to make a quick buck. Edit: Noticed no pics of the coolant levels in that report. The coolant was bone dry days after the oil change when I went on my trip the following day. After I filled it up, it has remained at the proper level. Brought my car in having ignition coil problems. Motor was choking at idle, etc... Was very clear and concise describing the problem, even gave suggestions as to what I thought it was. Instead of fixing the issue they charged me $2000 for regular maintenance that was needed for the car and didn't bother looking into the initial problem the car was brought in for. After picking the car up I noticed immediately that I was still having the issue with my engine choking at idle. Brought the car back the next day and they were expeditious with knowing exactly what was wrong and needed to be changed. Funny how after I was grossly overcharged for regular maintenance they were able to diagnose my problem. Stated to me it's a known issue with my cars make and model but I was out of warranty. So they ended up getting me for another $800+. I am young, don't have space to work on a car and work hard to make ends meets. After finding out I paid a total of $2800 for them to remove my engine cover, pull the 4 coils out and replace them I was thoroughly disgusted with this place. To make matters even worse, the coils they installed failed 4 months later and I was able to replace them myself after doing some research. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. They smile in your face and assure satisfaction but it is just a facade to get your vehicle in and stick you with an overpriced bill. read more
