For one thing, I wanna say the person who did my nails was very nice. I asked for a Matt nail polish to be used so there was no shine. She didn't seem to really understand what I meant. She recommended I could try a shellac which would protect my nails which I was interested in. But left a shine, which will not come off for at least 3 to 4 weeks. Men generally don't like their nails to shine so I wasn't happy with that. Plus, expect to pay an extra $10 for your hands and $10 for your feet if you do this. You guys are using mma!!! Look at my nails ! They hurt I have rings of fire due to over drilling my nail bed prior to putting the acrylic on. and then on top of that you guys decided that you were going to get cheap acrylic that had MMA in it, which is literally illegal. I spent $80 twice here and couldn't figure out why my nails were hurting so bad I went to a professional, whose years of experience are small compared to you guys however it took her an hour and 30 minutes to get the MMA off my hand and then carefully and delicately care for my thin, broken nail beds Please refrain from getting acrylic from this and shop The nails that I requested were mildly good I asked for a little I barely even got stiletto. I'm not here to sit here and complain, but when you pay $80 for something, you'd expect to get it. I am beyond upset. Not only did I spend double the time sitting there as I would anywhere else... this is what I got. I had a fill done and my nails were perfect shaped, she just had to fix a couple. I picked cream and sparkles as Iv never been here. The PAINT IS AWFUL! She charged me $25 for my toes to look like I did them. The paint on my nails and shape is beyond awful. I said I'd pay for for nails but not my toes to be fair. She told me no, I'll do another coat. Which just made it worse. This is NOT OKAY! If you can't do something, say that, don't take my hard earned money and give me an awful job. I leave on a trip tomorrow and I think when I get back I deserve them to be completely re painted at that very least. So unacceptable to charge me for this. $90 total read more

Nina gave me an amazing pedicure! My toes are perfect and my feet are happy!!! I came in without an appointment at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 15-20min but, I was greeted and taken to one of their comfy massage chairs to soak my feet immediately. Worst pedicure ever, I would give zero star if possible. Roughly cut the nails and without filling the edges, nothing. Just smeared lotion all over, what's the point? I've been to Star Nails several times, and they have always been adequate for a pedicure. But this was not the case on 10/02/2017. The polish they had was extremely old and clumpy. The person also cut my cuticle pretty severely and my foot was throbbing the whole time. I guess it's time to find a new nail salon. read more

Went in to have my shellac removed on my way to Home Depot. First gal did a sloppy job putting on the foils and they kept falling off. She put me aside to work on another client which was fine. Second gal finished removing the shellac. I asked her to buff and file my nails. I didn't want new polish applied. I didn't get any cuticle work done. Charged me $10 and I noticed none of my nails were filed and were jagged. She filed them for me but seemed put off to do so. Overpriced and shoddy work. I won't be returning. Most people were getting fake nails put on. Maybe that's all they want to do. Wish they would have said so. The guy was a pro, very nice, and I must have gotten a deal for doing both, because nails/pedicure was $40 together and the nails were supposed to be $24 on their own I think. The pedicure was very short, I prefer to soak and spoil my feet and sit in the massage chair for a bit, but I think because I was getting my nails done, the lady hurried it. I came in today to get a FILL And paid 35$ to end up with this. It literally looks like I need another fill already so I mentioned it to the owner & she tries to convince me otherwise. She refuses to negotiate with me and is being extremely difficult. Even another customer jumped into our argument and agreed that she'd be upset if that was the outcome of her fill. This is absolutely ridiculous I come here every other week & tip and this is what I get? You guys I paid for A FILL AND THIS IS THE OUTCOME OF MY FILL. ***Update 3 days later*** I went back into the salon because as you can see that's ridiculous amount of grow out within 3 days of having them. Van completely re-did my nails however I changed my mind about the color and asked if I could pay the difference for cat eye because I didn't pay for that before when I came in the 1st time. She finishes my nails and tries charging me 18$!!!!!! FOR CAT EYE she said that "she wasn't charging me for the service but for the nail polish" Mind you my mom and I came in three days ago and they only charged her 8$ extra for cat eye. I've gone to Star Nails several times over the last few months. They're reasonably priced for an acrylic fill and they always do an adequate job. This last time I went, though, will be my last. The employee I sat with was beyond terrible. She shredded my poor hands. Usually a manicure is somewhat relaxing for me, this person treated my hands like they were pieces of wood. She clipped my fingernails without making sure raw skin wasn't also in the blade. She filed the sides of my nails until I they bled and I jerked my hand away in pain, then she'd just pull my hand back and file the same spot even though I was obviously flinching and trying to get my hand away. If my hand wasn't in the right position or not relaxed (i tried hard, by my hands were raw and bleeding) she'd jerk them or pull them into the position she wanted. At the end, she charged me $3 extra because one of my tips was broken. Never in my life has any nail tech ever asked for more money to replace a single tip during the fill. I paid the extra money with no argument because that will be the last money this place gets from me. They had a good, repeat client that tipped well, and I'll never go back to that salon again. My hands still hurt today and they're scabbed and raw. read more

They were rude as f*** they not only do a horrible half assed job on my pedicure they didn't massage at all and did a terrible paint job and they were really rude and we're speaking Korean to eachother the whole time while they were doing mine and my friends pedicures. I don't think u can tell in a pic but the paint job looks so bad and I told her the big toe was messed up and she fixed it and it looks a new kind of messed up. And my favorite boots were sitting next to me wen I was getting my pedicure and wen I was done they were in a puddle of water f'n soaked and there was no other pedicure tubs being used I don't even know how that happened. I only go to three nail places in the numbers and this is one of them! I love to get my nails done here because its efficient, professional and ALWAYS impeccable. Never had a flaw ever and that's rare. I noticed that they are generally SUPER busy so definitely call for an appt! I ran into Star Nails the other day for a quick acrylic fill. I didn't have to wait even though there were only two people working. I wouldn't say that it's a terribly inviting environment, there's no TV and the women working weren't too interested in small talking with you. I have to say that the fill was one of the best I've ever had, she thinned out my original acrylic job and did an amazing job of shaping them. The actual painting job was a little less satisfactory. I get a sort of complicated two tone manicure and the lines ended up being pretty sloppy and my cuticles showing drastically. Would I be back? I went to star nails the other day because I was in a rush and it was the closest place to my location. I went in for a fill and to repair one broken nail. right away the lady was being rough and I had a constant stinging pain in all my nails. my nails were coffin shaped but she started filing them in a hideous almond like shape. when I asked her to do the coffin shape she ignored me and kept on giving me the wrong shape. the paint job sucked, it was messy and many spots were missed. then about 30 minutes into me leaving the paint started peeling everywhere and it looked so bad. I ended going to my trusted nail salon, Portland's Hottest Nails, and they did everything they could to fix the shape. never going back to Star Nails again, a total waste of my time and money. read more

I'm only giving them one star because my nails appear decent from a distance. I decided to go in because it was on my way home. I don't like getting my nails done anyway and this place made it worse. An older woman did my nails and was so messy about it. She made the mix too watery and it was getting all over my fingertips. When I left I was still trying to peel it off. Surprisingly the tips look pretty straight cause I was nervous when she was doing them. However the clear part of my nail looks cloudy and in attractive. Also, they had gotten wrong two people's appointments in the time that I was getting my nails done. Another problem is that it took like an hour and a half to do my fill. Three other people had come and gone in the time it took her to finish my nails. Luckily I thought the prices were pretty competitive. Anyway, I will never go back. read more
