Went here with my friend and had some delicious bites! Was not too into the drink but I'm not taking points off for that, I guess I'm not a lychee martini fan. However we got the dragon roll, the spicy tuna and super California from the limited menu. (Pride event was happening hence the limited menu) We were proud with what we got! The sushi was really good! We gobbled that shit down in minutes! The place is really cute right on the corner and easy to spot. Def recommend.

Everything was super. Made a reservation; EASY via Yelp! Arrived early and were seated immediately. Nice staff across the board. Our waitress was VERY helpful with recommendations which were spot on. Food was super. Had the yellow tail appetizer which had the fish along with jalapeño and sauce but with a twist, tomato slice. Actually paired really well. The veggie tempura was good, particularly the butter nut squash, again a little different for us. Pork pot stickers also good. We shared these plus 2 rolls, the Seattle roll and the Himachi roll. Liked them both but the Seattle was our favorite. Lyche margaritas to wash it all down and we were set. Would order all of this again. Highly recommend Star Sushi.

Cute place, twinkly lights, cozy booths, and fresh delicious sushi! The hamachi was SO fresh! there were juicy tomatoes on top with a thin slice of jalapeno. The pear salad was also great, I ate all the pears so you don't see them in this photo. The sushi chefs also accommodated by dietary request without hesitation, (thank you!), excited to go back!

Stopped by on a weeknight for dinner for 2, waited around 5 minutes before getting seated. We enjoyed miso soup for appetizers and 3 rolls. The fish was pretty high quality and I really enjoyed the flavor profiles of their special rolls. I recommend trying one of the fried or baked rolls as well as a fresh one for a variety of flavors and textures. They also gave us edamame on the house which was nice! Cute, clean place I'd recommend for a date night.

I was craving for some good otoro since I experienced it in Japan and saw some recommendations for this place. The price for otoro sashimi is more or less similar to other places but their alaska roll was super expensive at $9. 5 piece shrimp tempura was $12. Otoro looked fantastic but it lacked the melt in your mouth feel I got from the otoro I had in Japan. The Alaska roll was decent - fish was fresh but overall the roll was on the smaller side. The prawn tempura was soggy when I got home. They did not cut holes in the paper box so it steamed in there. For these prices I expected more thought into that.

One of my go to places on Cap Hill! I am impressed with the high quality fish they always seem to have. They have a belly flight which i haven't seen at a lot of places. Three kinds of fatty fish belly? Yes please! In this case, tuna belly, hamachi belly and salmon belly. There is also a tuna flight with Maguro, chutoro and otoro i also consistently order. The chicken karaage is a bit unique with some green herbs mixed into the crispy batter. Its usually not an issue getting a table quickly without a wait. Convenient neighborhood joint!

Staying in Capitol Hill, Star Sushi was a perfect spot to walk to for dinner. The sushi was very fresh as you could imagine for seattle. I ordered the mixed sashimi and himachi lover roll. Was too busy with the himachi lover to photograph the delicious sashimi i ordered . Very happy with both the food, and our server Miles. Who was phenomenal serving our group. Will return next time in town.

On a lively section of Broadway, Star Sushi offers booths inside and tables for two on their outdoor patio. Tuesday night happy hour extends to 9pm, so it's a good night to check out this place. That said, our service was spotty. I'm not sure if it's because they were understaffed or had new servers. We were greeted warmly and servers were courteous, but we waited a long time after being seated and once we were finished with our meal. I had to flag down servers for both our beverages and to order dessert, and then again to get our check. That said, the main event - the sushi - was delicious. We sampled their signature rolls, classic rolls, and some happy hour specials. We all agreed it was excellent. The fish was fresh, the rice warm, soft, and chewy, and overall, better than average for the price. A strong 3.5 stars, so rounding up to 4. It's a solid 4 once their service improves. Bring a date - or your out-of-town parents - with confidence.

The Seattle roll was fantastic! Unique and delicious, and the sushi was sliced small enough where it wasn't destroying my mouth. The ambiance was super cute and decorative. The only tiny thing was the service was a tad slow. Otherwise absolutely smashed that sushi!

We had a great dinner here. The service was fantastic! Many people checked on us and helped us during our meal, each incredibly friendly. They have really unique and delicious options on their menu. The setting was nice filled with a lot of fake pink flowers. Definitely will be coming back here!

We went to Star Sushi & Bar for my birthday last weekend and we were very impressed! We made a 2 person reservation for 6:30 and they were able to squeeze us in ~20 min early even though it was a pretty full house. We got the Asian pear cider and raspberry marg, which came in cutely decorated glasses (very tasty, pictured). Food: we ordered the chicken katsu, mariners roll, fried California roll, avocado rolls, tamago, inari, agedashi tofu, and two miso soups. Portions were reasonable and prices were fair! Everything was really good, especially the agedashi tofu--it had a unique chewy wrapping and I highly recommend the bonito flakes on top (no picture :( we ate it too fast). The mariners roll was also a hit and my boyfriend, a serial katsu eater, said his chicken was "crispy and perfect." Service: We never brought up that we were celebrating my birthday, and the manager still came out and brought us a free plate of avocado rolls because they made extra. Our waitress Sarah was also very attentive and polite! We thought everyone we encountered did a fantastic job. Overall, this is the type of place you can arrive in jeans or a nice dress. We liked it a lot for our first time!

Ok so picture this: you're on a walk with your friend through cap hill and we've walked by every restaurant in the block and none of the options stood out to you and then you reach Star sushi and they have TIRAMISU ANDDDD KASTU BURGERS?? AND ITS HAPPY HOUR?? It's everything we were looking for AND MORE!!! The service was nice, attentive and fast with both the drinks and the food. The katsu burger was DELICIOUS and so were the sushi rolls, takoyaki and tiramisu!! I asked for the tiramisu to come out later and they remembered! Also our server Andy who was so nice and attentive, asked how I wanted my fries for the Katsu burger and came back to apologize for asking about it bc he didn't know it was an add on, I said it was ok and he gave us the fries anyways on the house!!! That's so sweet they really didn't need to but that's so nice they did. The drinks were really cute and a lil strong but that's good bang for your buck some would argue. Thank you to the staff here! I come here a lot with my friends and family members and each time is a wonderful experience. The service is always kind and efficient so I absolutely love coming here as I feel welcome. Food is fantastic, they never fail to amaze me with plating and flavor! The drinks are great as well and they're so visually appealing. Good food & very attentive, friendly service. Our party had 3 with rolls and 2 with sesame chicken. The sushi was ample sized and fresh. The sesame was great...extra crunchy and had fabulous flavor. There was street parking, although not easy to come by, and a pay lot nearby. Patio and indoor seating available. Good meal! read more

My kids and I had such a great experience that we came twice in one week while staying in a nearby Airbnb; we've come back even though we don't live super close because of the great customer service, good prices, and really good food! Nice ambiance, great service, nice and clear restaurant. The rolls were great, we had a few crunchy ones, dragon & Rainbow. The best was the calamari, as a starter. I highly recommend. Staff was friendly but not attentive to our table. We had to ask for our server multiple times. Attention to detail and customer requests was lacking. Asked for sauce on the side with our waygu and it came with sauce on it. One hot dinner came out 10 minutes before the rest of our table (5 people total) making it odd to have him wait otherwise his dish would have been cold. Had to ask multiple times for a requested drink. The sushi was average at best. I would not go back as there are other sushi restaurants much better with more attention to detail. read more

Went to Star Sushi & Bar on a Saturday night around 7pm, surprisingly not too crowded at first, but it did start to fill up later. The sushi was very fresh, and we were happy with the variety of rolls we ordered. The grilled edamame was a hit, super tasty, though we wish it had a bit more salt. The servers were really kind and attentive, though it took a little while to get our check once the place got busy. As expected in Capitol Hill, parking is tough, so plan ahead! Overall, a solid spot for casual, decent sushi in the area. read more

Came here on a sunny weekend and was able to sit on their patio with our dog. They offer happy hour everyday until 6pm and had several things to choose from. We ordered 4 different rolls for 2 people and were full after. For the rolls, we got eel, shrimp tempura, salmon, and tuna. I would say each roll tasted good and fresh. I would highly recommend coming here and plan to come back to try other menu items. read more

Came here on valentine's day with my girlfriend on a whim. We were visiting from Cali and were craving sushi so we hit up this spot. We got seated fairly quickly and sat at the bar with the sushi chefs. We had amazing service and friendly staff. They gave us free fans for the holiday, and the host even sprinkled little confetti hearts where we sat. The owner/head chef KJ was working on the line and is definitely somebody you should talk to if you can. It's refreshing to see an owner so passionate and happy with their job, which is something so rare to experience nowadays. Also got "love potions" (plum wine shots) after the meal. Will 100% be coming back when we visit Seattle again over summer, 10/10 spot highly recommend! read more

I'm super impressed by the friendly staff - shout out to Daisy! - and the improvement made to decor after the last establishment(s) with the exception of dilettante bar (I miss you!!!). It's light and airy and I bet the twinkle lights are romantic at night. This place must be tasty, though, because I've seen about twenty togo orders in the twenty minutes I've been here. I never leave reviews and I promised them I would. We came from Ohio to hang out in Seattle and I had this place marked to go and wasn't sure. The way things timed out, we were there during off hours for my birthday. The service was phenomenal, the food was insane (charred edamame ftw) and I mentioned it was my birthday in passing and they gave me cake without me having any idea. Regardless of free desserts, if I was local I would eat here all the time. Amazing food for the price and regardless of price, amazing food. Thank you. read more

Stopped by at around 12:30pm for lunch on a Saturday with a friend. It was pretty quiet when we arrived but it definitely picked up by the time we left at around 1:30pm. They do take reservations online. Service was attentive and friendly. My friend and I ordered a sushi roll each. Mine was decent (kamikaze without red onions) and filled me up. Parking is typical Capitol Hill parking but the Capitol Hill station is a short walk away. read more

The food was good. Nice menu selections. The cocktails are not good at all. The Lychee Martini has no alcohol and is super sweet. The saki is of poor quality. Have a beer or water and enjoy the food. Don't spend your money on bad cocktails. read more

This is not your traditional Japanese place for nigiri sushi but their menu is packed with all kinds of Japanese items plus a flare of fusion choices too. So it is definitely a place for everyone (esp for guests that don't want to eat raw). Overall. Food was good. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that their sake selection was minimal and they didn't have tamago (egg nigiri). They said they ran out. But it wasn't even on the menu. Nigiri menu is limited. But if these things are deal breakers for you then you should definitely go try. read more

Great happy hour spot in a convenient location in Capital Hill next to a parking lot. Between 2-4 there is a nice crowd, but really clears out after 4pm until around 6pm. Food service was quick and our appetizers was delicious. Drinks were pretty strong, but I'm not complaining about delicious cocktails. read more

Hamachi Carpaccio was the best, it just deliciously melts in your mouth. Calamari Fries were finger-licking . Mongolian Beef Tsuivan was tasty. Baked Scallop roll was mouthwatering. However, LTD gave me an experience that I genuinely felt was 100% worth it! We made a reservation as soon as they were released, and snagged a spot for their first omakase table seating on a Monday night. Since we were celebrating a birthday, they were so kind to start us off with some champagne which was really yummy - the perfect bubbliness and sweetness. On to the omakase, we were served a total of 14 courses for their summer menu: 4 appetizers, 2 handrolls, 7 nigiri, and dessert. For the appetizers we got a seasonal jelly with geoduck and fruits, fresh salmon with daikon and microgreens, fried halibut with a shiso leaf sauce, and kelp dashi soup. We all collectively loved the halibut the most - it was so perfectly fried and the shiso sauce (grown from the chef's backyard!) was addictingly delicious, one of the most unique and delicious sauces I've ever had! We then were served a toro handroll which was amazing. They season their rice with an aged red vinegar which gives it a brown color and the grains themselves are slightly warm and the perfect texture. Their nori is thin yet crisp and the toro just melted in my mouth. Absolutely amazing of a course. They make these right in front of you too! Next we were served our first plate of nigiri - barracuda, striped jack, dungeness crab, and mackerel. The striped jack was my favorite of this bunch! I'm a huge amberjack fan, and this one was even better than that with the perfect soft yet firm texture and clean fresh flavor on top of the most perfectly cooked rice. barracuda was really unique and the crab was also so fresh, juicy, and slightly sweet. Delicious! Then, we had another handroll service - this time with uni! I'm usually not the biggest fan of uni but this was by FAR the best uni I've ever had in my life. It was so creamy and fresh and sweet and just melted upon eating. It was the perfect size and the seaweed was spectacular as well. Onto our second plate of nigiri, we were served the classic akami (lean tuna), otoro (fatty tuna), and marinated black cod. These were SPECTACULAR. The akami was everything you need it to be - the perfect texture, flavor, and freshness. The otoro was interesting to me, as it wasn't as melt-in-your-mouth but the flavor was different that the otoro I've had before - it had an extra savory note to it that I really liked. Finally, the black cod was so so good... I've never had it served this way but the cod was cooked so well and the flavor was perfection. For dessert we had the traditional miso soup and tamago. Safe to say, somehow this tamago also blew me away! It was mildly sweet and also had a unique flavor that was really addicting - I could've eaten so many more! Overall, if you're looking for an omakase experience in Seattle, I would highly highly recommend making a reservation at LTD. Stealing or buying dishes are not allowed. Hehehe. They offer two tiers of pricing. Sushi Bar at $195 per person featuring seasonal dish and sushi every season (4 menu sets a year). Table seating at $145 per person featuring seasonal dish and sushi that includes Ltd Edition favorites. A 20% service charge is added to the bill; no additional tipping needed. Service was swift, friendly, and they are very well staffed. The restaurant is long, narrow, and cozy. The 16 dishes in order: - Warm silken tofu in Manila clams and soy broth - Shortspine thronyhead, aka, Idiotic fish. Tasted really good. - Top grade Milt, aka cod sperm sac, served with Japanese peppers in yuzu soy broth. Super good! - Black Cod in a rich dashi broth - Housemade soba noodles in the style of Fukui, Japan, his hometown, served cold with shaved daikon and bonito flakes - King Mackerel - Cooked Oyster, prepared Japanese style - Dungeness crab, mixed with its crab butter and uni, fully envelopes the sushi rice. This bite was incredible! - Chu-Toro - Kohada or gizzard shad - Southern Hokkaido Uni - smoother, not as "rich" as typical Hokkaido Uni. Shipped in salt water. - Monk fish liver - cooked, very creamy - O-Toro. He said it's a big lie that toro is expensive. Parking around this area is dicey, but I lucked out finding a parallel spot near Agave Cocina; I'd get here using other means of transportation if possible. Interior is a spacious area with an ample number of wooden tables with chairs that have low backs but are comfy to sit on. A large logo of the place resides near the back of the restaurant, and it shares its restrooms with Italian cuisine neighbor Messina. You get their menu using a QR code on each table, and let servers know what you want once you're ready. They have ramen, sashimi plates, katsu burgers and curry rice dishes among other offerings. Service was great throughout our visit here as staff checked on us every once in a while. As mentioned above, we both got their chicken katsu curry with pork gyoza as an appetizer: - Pork gyoza was pretty fresh and juicy, and was even better with the provided soy sauce. - Chicken katsu curry was amazing for the most part!
