The Dude and I came to the infamous StarBread Bakery on 01/03/23 as we were hearing so much hype about it. We really wanted to try this place out not only for their bread but for the Ube items as well. I have a gluten intolerance and cannot eat a lot of things with gluten :( . So when I entered I was greeted by a sweet lady. What was sweeter....was the inside, it smelled sooooo good. My gluten senses were tingling and I couldn't wait to over indulge!!!! It smelled absolutely delicious inside. It is also pretty small inside too. I ended up getting the Senorita Bread of course!!! We got about 18 or 20. I got a Ube Malasada and Guava as well along with. Ube cake. I gave the Senorita Bread 8/10. It was sweet and buttery at the same time. I think I scarfed down 3. It was good but I think I was expecting it to be more flavorful as the other reviews add. I didn't get a rich buttery taste. But it was good. Probably would not get again. I took a bite of the Malasada of Ube and Guava 7/10. It tasted stale but good. The Ube Cake was my personal favorite. I love Ube!!! Ube all day!!! It was good but it had a weird aftertaste and I don't like the artificial color as it left my tongue purple. Too much dye. Real Ube is not that dark purple color. Anyways the dude thought it was good too. We ended up giving them to the dudes family for breakfast. His 93 year old grandmother loved them with her morning coffee and other relatives who were over too! We were so happy to share as it was a staple of memories for them growing up. Overall, I would return in a heart beat to share bread with the dudes family and especially our Mema as she enjoyed them!!! So this place is very much special us. StarBread Bakery is one of my go-to stops when visiting Sacramento. No matter how many times I've attempted to recreate it I can't get that iconic StarBread taste and texture. While there are many other baked goods that look delicious I've only ever ordered the iconic señorita bread. They're soft, hot, fresh little rolled up sweet and buttery buns. We always order at least 100 buns to bring back home and share but you can absolutely put down (and should) a row when you first order them. They should be eaten right away but if (big if!) you have extras freeze them and microwave them for a few seconds and they're almost good as new. While sometimes there can be a wait they're definitely worth it to have them hot and fresh! read more

Cute small bakery that sells Philippino bread called starbread. We were planning to visit but were just drawn to the store because of the delicious buttery baked bread smell. Tried their regular starbread and ube cake. Starbread was slightly crispy outside and super soft inside and moist - just melting in your mouth! It was, though, little too sweet for me, and the sugar/butter liquid mixture was dripping to the bottom of the paper bag. They can put a much less butter/sugar mixture, so it's rather a nutty and lighter bread, and sprinkle a couple of coarse salts on top to give some kicks with that sweet-saltiness magic. Usually, I would finish 2-3 starbread, but one was enough. Ube was moist and okay, but it could reduce the sweetness a bit. Texture are there, but just the moderation in sweetness... :-) read more

Glad I decided to stop by for some señorita bread or else I would've really missed out. Came on Halloween and a little girl had a stand in front of the store passing out candy goodie bags. How cute!! I think it is a family owned shop! Got the 5 pieces for $3. Very reasonable price! The pieces were small but freshly made! Waited a few minutes outside and they were piping hot when I received them!! My first time going here. I bought one Ube mochi donut, 1 dolce de leche bitso bitso, 1 vanila Malasata and 1 bag of Pan de Ube. Every sample bite of each item was DRY. They have multiple locations across the Bay Area as well as upcoming locations in Southern California and rightfully so! I have two words for you: Señorita Bread. These sweet little treats come out hot and fresh every single time and just melt in your mouth. The glaze is buttery and sweet and the bread is somehow light and doughy at the same time. They look totally unassuming until you take that first bite and before you know it, you've eaten half the box. Pretty sure it's impossible to eat just one. They also have other types of sweets- including donuts, cookies, pan de sal, malasadas, brownies, cakes etc. We have only tried the Ube cake, purple yam and it is damn good too! Beautiful purple on the inside, the cake is moist and not too sweet with crispy edges, so good! We usually get 25 for ($10) as there's a $10 limit to use debit/credit and let's face it, we have to get a minimum of 25 since anything less than that would be devoured in under 10 minutes with our family. Senorita Bread is also a great host/hostess gift to bring or for a work potluck etc. If you're ever in the area, I highly, highly recommend checking them out! Location: the location is in a shopping plaza near sunvalley mall and diablo Valley College. The same plaza with happy lemon. Parking is easy to find in the area. Ambiance: smell of Filipino seniorita bread and baked goods fill the space. However, there is no chairs and tables. It only has space for the tables and chairs. Food: you don't need to travel to Hawaii to eat a good masala. Starbread has a variety of deserts like seniorita bread, mochi donuts, Filipino style donuts like bichu bichu. And masalas. Credit card is accepted if the order is more than 7 dollars. The ube msalas is delicious.
