Came here by recommendation and I'm so glad I came here to try it out. First off, heads up. There is a 1 person limit capacity in the store. That said, it's not really enforced. I waited for the person inside to leave before entering, but while I was waiting, another person came in, ignoring the rules and no employee bothered to mention that there was a limit. That said, onto the shop itself. It smells so good as soon as you walk in. There are quite a few items you can buy despite it being a small shop but their most famous is the Señorita bread. You can buy it in bags or boxes that are pre-set in number. I ended up buying 10 of them since they are small in size. Taste wise, it's really good. Hollow inside but the bread is super soft and not overly sweet. If anything, it tastes like a small version of the Chinese cocktail buns. The hours of the shop are pretty long so don't worry about a line or anything. Definitely coming back to check out other food items like their ube bread though next time. Also, as a bonus, this shop is located in the same plaza as Happy Lemon, two shops down. read more

There is another starbread location in pittsburg ca. I personally like this location more than the pittsburg one. Location: the location is in a shopping plaza near sunvalley mall and diablo Valley College. The same plaza with happy lemon. Parking is easy to find in the area. Ambiance: smell of Filipino seniorita bread and baked goods fill the space. However, there is no chairs and tables. It only has space for the tables and chairs. Food: you don't need to travel to Hawaii to eat a good masala. Starbread has a variety of deserts like seniorita bread, mochi donuts, Filipino style donuts like bichu bichu. And masalas. Credit card is accepted if the order is more than 7 dollars. The ube msalas is delicious. Overall, come to this place if you miss Hawaii and want to Try filipino baked goods for a reasonable price. read more

I honestly just want to lay around and eat senorita bread all day. A friend of mine posted an IG story of her senorita bread. Apparently a starbread bakery opened up near her in southern california. I immediately asked her what they were and thus began my deep dive on where to find a starbread. Luckily I live not too far from two of them, and my parents live even closer to the Pleasant Hill location. So last week I finally stopped in. Be warned the place is very small. They ask the only one person be inside at the time. They have a good selection of other pastries and donuts, but the senorita bread is what I came for, so I ordered and waited outside. Those little buttery, sweet rolls were everything I had hoped for. They were piping hot, and honestly I would have eaten them all on the car ride home if there weren't other people with me. These are going to be my new go to if I ever have to bring something to someone's house. My stomach is rumbling right now thinking about them, and I can't wait to go back and get more. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. So you wonder why it's 4 stars? Let's just say this is my go-to-fresh-comfort-food-best-tasting-Filipino pastry, best for potluck & parties too. There's no need to hype them up because people will come, even if you're not into sweets. I even flew them across the globe to my family in the Philippines, filled a carryon, because they loved it so much when they visited. So...my 4 stars is being critical of my favorite place. For my last 4 orders of 20 or more, some were "dry looking" and some where glazed/brushed with their magical goodness, which makes them soft and delicious. Maybe my other orders were rushed or because I had big orders like 50+pcs. I only wish for them to stay consistent because the not-shiny(dry?) senorita breads were disappointing. read more

Señorita bread is amazing and the staff was very kind to offer what the big popular item this week. You must spend $10 minimum in order to use credit card and that's fine since it's a small business. Whenever passing by, I would pick up some Señorita bread because it's FRESH! Good treats and nice people, why not! Go support this bakery. It's a purchase only store front. Not sit n done setting. This place known for fresh " hot señorita bread " . A very small family owned business breakfast shop ( that's what I think because this place is here for years lol ). Back to the reviews, I'm in love with the bread because it's not too sweet, soft and fragrant. On the side, they also sells donut and hot dog with cheese. I actually order 2 today and it was perfect. This place is phenomenal. I highly recommend. Not too pricey and it was super quick. I was in and out less than 10 mins lol. Cleanest: 10/10 : Cheese&HotDog: 10/10 Señoritabread: 10/10. read more

I came by to get some señorita bread to bring to work. The bakery smelled delicious - you can smell the bread as you're walking up! It is $3 for 5 pieces. I got 35 for $21. Not too bad of a price. I also debated getting a donut which was $1 per piece after 5pm! I waited probably 10 minutes for my order to come up. There were 2 people in the queue before me who were also waiting. The bread came out piping hot so I wonder if they were just making a new batch. Overall, a great stop for bread for yourself or if you need it in bulk. read more

Super friendly cashier an amazing customer service! I can even sense their smiles after a mask. This was our first time visiting this establishment, and after reading a lot of positive reviews online, we decided to give it a shot. It was a living hell having these senorita breads in the car with me while I drove! They have such a pleasant aroma that it makes me want to put the whole box in my mouth. And when I did finally get a taste of it, I was astounded by how good it was. How incredibly supple and delectable it is! You really should give it a shot. You NEED TO, no you HAVE TO! PS: They also have a wide selection of other sweet treat and donuts, but we knew what we want. Sometimes you need to set your goals straight, don't lets other sweet treats blur your eyes if you just come for senorita breads. Next time, we will try them, and I will let you know! I love this place. Wonderful little pieces of heaven. Yeah, it's super popular so a lot of the time there's going to be a line but honestly, it's the one place where if the line was literally going around the corner and down the street, it's still worth it. People at work always ask me "when are you getting Starbreads again?" It doesn't take much prodding. I always respond with "um, right now..." read more

Mannnnnnn that Señorita bread is ridiculous!!! Piping hot!!! I see why they say its like crack! And im not talking about your behind! They sell other pastries and beverages. Give up carbs? Over my BREAD body. Nostalgia. As soon as I walked up to this bakery, it reminded me of my childhood. Really small shop, no frills, just a single counter, a few baked goods in their pastry case... and just racks and racks of bread ready to be baked. Something about the aroma of freshly baked bread... I can't say no. This bakery is known for their SENORITA bread. Nothing fancy, just a Spanish roll filled with sweet butter. But how can something as simple as that be so unbelievably delicious? They serve it fresh from the oven and it is piping HOT. You HAVE to eat it right away. It is so soft, it melts in your mouth... the butter even drips. I took home a box of 20 pcs for a whopping $8. If I didn't have a great deal of self control, half would have been gone in the first 10 minutes. I managed to save a few to take home to SoCal. I reheated it in the microwave on day 3 and it was still good. We also tried some of their donuts and the hopia. Beyond ecstatic that this location happens to be a quick drive from my best friend's place. She already knows I have to go here every time I visit. If you ever want to be transported back in time to early morning breakfasts with your lola... do yourself a favor and stop by. read more

I've been going to StarBread for many years. First it was the Vallejo location, then Pittsburg, and now Pleasant Hill. Senorita bread is simple but delicious. They are scrumptious and delicate sweet rolls that are warm and buttery. You can't help but eat one (or two) before getting back into your car. It's the perfect snack or potluck item. Your friends will eat them up. Parking is easy since they are located in a small strip mall off Contra Costa Blvd where Round Table and Citibank reside. StarBread is a no frills bake shop that also offers other sweets such as cupcakes and donuts but senorita bread is definitely the star of the show. If you haven't tried this yet, you'll be glad you did! read more

Ordered Señorita bread from star bakery got 18 of them and boy they were all gone in a jiffy. Kids loved it . Picked up the order from a fresh batch of bread and it was juicy and fresh. It was warm and with right sweetness. They were light and was hard to stop by just having one. I came here on a weekday and there was still a line! There is only 1 person allowed in the store at a time, so everyone has to wait outside until their turn. Once you place your order (usually señorita bread), they ask you to wait outside and they'll bring it out to you. I recommend getting more señorita bread if these are the only snack/food for your group because they are that delicious and can easily be devoured...in minutes, maybe seconds depending on who you're asking. Señorita bread: Delicious. Fresh. Buttery. Sugary. There's never been a time that I haven't been satisfied with these. When you bite into them, they're a bit hollow inside, so it's not a full/plump piece of bread. They are very soft and when you eat them fresh/hot, it literally just melts in your mouth. SO GOOD. The shop has more than just señorita bread, so if you're wanting to try other things, I'm sure it'll be just as good! However, I can't personally vouch for it. Get them while they're hot and get more than 15 pieces... I promise you'll thank me later! With a minimum of $10 to use your credit card you might as well get 25 for $10. Other price points are 15 for $6, 20 for $8, and so on. These delicious rolls of butter, sugar, and all things good just melt in your mouth. When they're fresh out of the oven believe me when I say it's easy to scarf at LEAST 5 in one sitting. No worries about this location since it's in a plaza and there's free parking available for you to enjoy your sweet treats before heading on your way. If you have self discipline and happen to have some left over I recommend heating it up in the oven for a couple of mins, but if you can't wait the microwave for about 20-30 seconds if the way to go. I have been to the Starbread in Pittsburg and we love their senorita bread. We picked it up here and their prices are amazing. For 25 senorita bread it was $10 and the donut holes were only $2. That's so much food for so cheap. All pastries were stocked when I went, and the bread was fresh and hot. We waited outside for the order bc of Covid, and it only took three minutes. Consistently the worst StarBread shop in the business. This is my 3rd personal try and strike with this place in Pleasant Hill and most likely because I'm probably spoiled by Vallejo's original one. There are 5 other times I know people who got them from this particular spot and it's consistently bad. They are always dry, under flavored, and half the time probably overbaked judging by the dark hotdog bun looking appearance. I made the last mistake of going in myself yesterday morning when they opened and purchasing 120 pieces yesterday morning and every single one seemed like they needed to be dipped in some sort of sweet butter sauce and they were all dry as Death Valley. Not even reheating it in the microwave helped. The lady at the register was nice and the place seems real clean. It was nice they had other options like Pan de Ube and Mochi donuts which I took advantage of as well for a party I was hosting yesterday. The thing I had a problem with, was when I was paying it had asked my for a tip on the prompts on the credit card machine. Tip for what? It's a pick up spot and it's not like they waited and served my at a table. I basically waited in my truck until my order was ready. I love love love this bread and everyone at work loved it too. Bakery is small but has an assortment of different pastries. Starbread is obviously their main contender and you can buy a box at an affordable price (a box of 20 was $12). Great for quick pick up for potlucks and other gatherings when you don't have time to make something yourself. Guy up front was friendly and quick too. This was not my first time here and I have nothing bad at all to say about this local bakery. read more

I've been eating Starbread before Filipino desserts boomed in this area well because I am half Filipina! Yummy buttery sweet bread made to order within 5-8 mins and prices are pretty reasonable. They have other pastries like doughnuts, different breads, cupcakes, Filipino desserts, and cake pops. Love starbread and so does my family! read more

Disappointing Experience with Cold Ensaymada and Poor Customer Service. I had a disappointing experience at this bakery. Firstly, they served their ensaymada cold, which was surprising and concerning as it's typically served fresh. When I inquired about warming it up, I was told it wasn't possible. This left me unsure about the freshness of the product. To make matters worse, the staff member's attitude escalated when I expressed my surprise about the cold ensaymada, even though I hadn't even touched it yet. Additionally, when I politely asked for napkins, the response I received was unnecessarily curt. What Happened to the Choco Bun?…read more Plenty of free parking. When you walk in, grab a tray and window shop all the pastries. They individually wrap these so grab what you want and place it on your tray. Once you're finished, cruise up to the counter. Would I Come Back? Yes, I keep coming back. I use to come back for the Choco Bun, but if they've changed the recipe at all locations, I'll only be coming back for the Milk Bun and Nougat. Their Signature Item: Egg tarts are their signature item. If you've ever been to an Asian party, someone almost always brings a box of egg tarts from 85-Degrees. But on today's visit. Well, just look at the photo. Someone stepped away from the oven for about 6 minutes too long. Choco Bun ($2.55, Grade D): The Choco Bun has been my absolute go-to for years--the closest location to me is usually the South Sacramento store and I tell everyone they have to get it whenever they visit an 85°C. Unfortunately, it's been about 8 months since my last trip, and the Choco Bun is no longer something to write home about. Milk Bun ($2.05, Grade A+): If you've ever had their Milk Bun with the custard filling, the Choco Bun used to be very similar in texture. Now, it's flat with super dry edges. Not good at all. Luckily, I also bought a Milk Bun (my usual second favorite), and by default, it's now my number one because the Choco Bun was a complete bust. It's so fluffy and sweet. Melts in your mouth. Strawberry Banana Smoothie / no boba ($5.85, Grade F): It was incredibly artificial-tasting--nothing real about it. I only made it through a quarter of it before throwing the rest into the garbage. My fault for hoping for a "just picked" fresh fruit taste, but this was honestly one of the worst smoothies I've ever had. Nougat ($9.60, Grade A+): The bagged Nougat candy is fantastic. It's soft, gooey, and packed with what I'm guessing are pieces of pistachio. Delicious, but a fair warning if you have dental issues: these will wreak havoc on your teeth. It's not quite as sticky as a Starburst, but it could definitely pull out a denture! Bottom Line: The staff here is friendly, and there are still a few standout 5-star items that make a visit worth it (the Milk Bun and the Nougat). However, the disappointing recipe change to the Choco Bun and the absolute miss on the smoothie knock this down to a 3-star experience overall.

There was an offer to give me a different cake, even though- quote "we can't even prove you paid".
