Starbread, like little piggies snuggled together and warm.

Well, the doughnut I bought next door was absolutely delicious but I wanted more, so I went into Starbread bakery. The first thing you notice when you walk in the door is the aroma, it's heavenly. You smell the butter, sugar, yeast, Very enticing to say the least. The person I placed my order with disappeared into the back and returned with a small paper bag of five pieces of starbread, warm and smelling amazing. I've eaten two so far and now realise I could use a cup of coffee to go with.

This is my Wonderland in the city of San Pablo across the street from the Casino. I went to pick up my mom to run errands, she wasn't ready and needed a little more time. I took the opportunity to go by Star Bread. I was dreaming about it going across the Richmond San Rafael Bridge. There is a heaven, right here. The owner and her kids are so nice and welcoming, the mom answered some questions from Yelp for me. I will return no doubt about it. Let us bow our heads before we partake. My mom loved it, she remembers this sweet bread as a kid in Texas. Thanks Star Bread for this wonderful delicatessen

Starbread is the perfect holiday dessert for a potluck or to bring to a party. The best gift to say thank you to a group of people! Inexpensive and fast to order! Came twice in one day to give to a classroom and housing community. Both times took only 5 minute wait or less to get starbread. You cannot order ahead of time but should be no problem. Do not accept bills $100 and over and have a service charge for credit cards. They have other baked goods but their show stopper is their warm seniorita bread which has a buttery sugary filling! I will say the best time to eat it is when it's fresh and warm. It's okay room temp but best warmed up. I don't prefer it day old + but i think it depends on your preference. I

Yes. Yes. Yes! As a Filipino-American from Metro-Detroit, Filipino bakeries are head to come by. So whenever we're in the bay area, you know I'm making the most of SF's Filipino Community. This place was everything I needed it to be. I'm fairly confident that 95% of their profit margins comes from selling exactly one item - señorita bread (aka Spanish bread). And they do it so incredibly well. Their bread is much smaller than I'm used to, but the size was an improvement to any other version I've had before. Two bites, and your señorita bread has disappeared. You stare at your hand, wondering there it's gone, but then, you remember the delightful taste in your mouth and its happy home in your stomach. Perfectly warm, fluffy, buttery, and the perfect touch of sugar. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it. We ordered 25 pieces to bring back for a household of 5 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 toddler. This was a mistake. We should have ordered more. The bread had completely disappeared in half a day. Otherwise, we also ordered the tiramisu which I wouldn't describe as accurately Italian but still tasty and light. We also ordered some of the Nutella stuffed señorita bread which was fine, but I could skip in favor of a couple more traditional pieces. I also wish they'd offer coffee. What a wonderful morning snack that would be. We can't wait to come back. We may go back twice in one week. I have no shame because it's delicious. I'll have to make sure I time another future visit for when they have other exciting offerings like ube pan de sal, but for now, just call me Kirby because I'll take it all.

It's no secret that senorita bread- what star bread is famous for- is absolutely delicious. It's buttery, soft, sweet, and comes out hot and fresh. It's also fairly cheap, four pieces for five dollars. Definitely worth a visit!

    heaven.

What you need to know is that there were 15 pieces in this box five minutes before I took this picture. I don't know why I'm writing this because I must be the last person on earth who didn't know about Starbread. To be fair I tried them like a decade ago and the señorita bread must have been cold so I never went back. I just moved nearby and decided I'd try again -- and the HOT rolls? They changed my life. My partner and I ascended. This box is empty now but my heart is full.

Senorita bread at 60 cents a piece! A total steal!

It's not the biggest bakery in the Bay, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in pastry might. My friend had brought his newlywed wife down from the Seattle area. She's from the Philippines, and was a little homesick after a few months in the States. So I brought my buddy and his bride on a Bay Area's best taste of the Philippines tour. Well best as far as yelp ratings go. Starbread was one of the stops, and it didn't disappoint. My fellow yelpers were spot on as this was definitely worth it's stars. My bud'z wife picked up a kind of nutcake. I don't know how it tasted, but it looked tasty. What I did order was a small bag of Senorita Bread to sample. I had been introduced to Senorita bread by a former co-worker who'd get our work module this occasional treat. They were absolutely delicious. I'm not sure if he got them at Starbread. It may have been but what I tried at Starbread was on another tier of amazing! It was definitely because the woman taking my order went to the back and got me some fresh baked ones still steaming with heat. Back in our office, the pastries had long cooled. I promptly gave one to my friend's wife. She took a quick bite before I could give one to my friend. He reached to take a bite of hers, but she actually pulled away because it was too delicious to share! it's still the honeymoon phase...except when it comes to fresh baked Starbread Senoritas. I gave my friend his own, which he fast devoured. With his wife's eyes pining for more, he then promptly ordered another bag. Domestic order restored! Clearly, he already embraces that well-aged adage for marital success: A happy wife is a happy life. His wife mentioned that in the Philippines, they actually call it Spanish bread. I'm wondering how the moniker changed after crossing the Pacific. Well, whatever you call it, I call it deliciosa. (Warning: In high school I took French...)

Easy parking right up front in the shopping center parking lot. No line, smells so good inside, quick service. Note that it is best to take cash, they charge 3% service fee for using credit card no matter how much your total is. The Señorita bread is AMAZING. It is made fresh daily. When we went yesterday, it was served warm and fresh and buttery. Their prices haven't changed in quite some time, there is no discount for bulk purchasing but it's fairly priced to begin with so not an issue. So so good.

After many times of driving by this place, we decided to stop on in. Usually, there is a line but we got lucky and there was no one there. We ordered 24 and 1. It's super inexpensive 2. It is so piping hot! 3. It's pretty darn good. I've never had it but I had heard all about it and it was worth the stop. I am glad I don't like so close! Weird but notable mention: since it was our first time, Mr & I both tried using our CitiBank cards and they were declined. Unsure if it's one of those spots that flag something weird on the bank end. Luckily, we had alt way of paying.

Does the Senorita bread taste fine the next day?

In my opinion it's okay....not as good, but if you warm it a few seconds in the microwave and eat it quick, it's okay. I wouldn't go as fas as calling it "good" the next day

Is this place still operating during this shelter in place?

I am so disappointed at the food changes and feeling bad to give a bad review as I love supporting small businesses and love Salvadorean food. There's a lot of room to improve. I've been eating Salvi food since I was child. If you order to go check before you leave. I had an item missing. I called and was able to get a refund. She handled it nice too since she forgot to add it. I took food to go. I added pictures on all. The tamales both chipilin and pork were good. The masa was excellent. The size was small to medium. The pupusas are tiny, they are good but nothing extraordinary. As they are small there's no cheese stretch or a good feel about the filling. The masa is good. The quesadilla pasty was crumbly, it did not feel fresh. It was dry with no flavor compared to ones I've eaten before. The best Salvi quesadillas are moist. The guava, pineapple, and custard empanada pastry were small. The pineapple one did not feel fresh, more on the dry side, crumbly compared to other flavors. The pork empanada was probably the worst. They were tiny with hardly any filling. The empanadas usually have a ground meat or shredded chicken. This one had pieces of pork so it was not flavorful at all. There's table seating indoors and outdoors. The yucca con chicharron was okay too. Usually it comes with a salad like but this one came with 1 beet, 1 slice of tomato and 1 slice of cucumber with a small bag of curtido. No sauce. Tip: The server gave me a business card and recommended to call for orders to go as the waiting time was 30 minutes. I did not mind waiting. I appreciated her sharing this. Tip: recommend the pork tamal. The pupusas if hungry get at least 3.
