My wife and I love Starbread Bakery, but my last visit they were a bit dry. It was not as moist as I liked. Service was decent. One person inside at a time and they have a wide selection of other pastries and dessert.

My team lovesssss these!! Had to get them a box before work. Fresh and hot every time!

Very disappointed with the señorita bread. It was overly dry and seemed overcooked, which made it hard to enjoy. The quality was not what I expected, and overall I was not satisfied with my purchase. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

A box of Señorita bread from Starbread is about as nostalgic as it gets! This location is very close to my office so someone always brings a box in whenever we have a big meeting or event. This time, I figured I would be the one to bring the goods, and stopped in at 8:30am on a Friday. Interaction and transaction at the small counter was simple enough, just stating the amount of bread I wanted and receiving the box a couple of seconds later. The bread is always soft and fresh, and best eaten warm! My coworkers and I like eating them with coffee and it brings back so many memories. It may seem simple, but sometimes nostalgia tastes the best.

For what they are known for it's good. Buttery with a crunch of sweetness from the sugars that melted and crystallized. Prices are fair but each bread is kinda small, 2-3 bites and it's gone. Other than that tiny spot not many selection of items. It's a hole in the wall type shop.

First time to this location and found it just fine as I was just passing through the area and wanted to grab a box of Senorita Bread. The shop itself is super run down looking, think flickering lights and tape being used to hold stuff up. Looks like it needs a little maintenance. Nonetheless, I was here for the bread. Ordered and waited about 5 minutes for my box of fresh Senorita Bread. Piping hot, melt in your mouth, sweet and delicious bread. Also such a great price as well! These are great with coffee in the morning too.

First time at this location and the senorita breads are nice and warm, soft, buttery, sugary, and addicting. It's best to be eaten right away when they're fresh and even better with coffee. The size is decent along with pricing. Customer service here definitely can be worked on though--it didn't feel welcoming. They also have other items besides senorita bread. They only allow 1 person at a time inside.

Bread is always made fresh. There is a sign on the door that says 1 customer inside at a time. It's actually pretty small inside. They do offer other pastries which is nice. But they need to have better service or have someone else taking your order. I felt so uncomfortable when I entered. The young man was sitting on the counter on his phone and the other one was standing to the side. It took a minute for both of the guys to say something. I wanted to leave but I made the 30 minute drive, so I had to suck it up and order.

Very disappointed with our order today. The bottom half of our order was still raw.........

Senioritas bread has me in a chokehold. I've had it a couple of times, and every warm, doughy piece gets devoured. Fair warning: it's addictive, and there's no such thing as just one!

Box of 30 dwindling down its so addicting good ! Here is whats left after 5 minutes ! LOL

Union city branch ! The bread is fantastic but the (male) cashier is not friendly and does not belong at the front of the house. Since day 1 this guy has been so snotty and has no customer appeal and should work in the back and not meeting customers. All of our family and friends say the same thing and I have to let the owner know so they can address this. We love Starbread and hate to give a bad review but just being truthful. The guy is probably a nice guy but the customers know what I am trying to relay here. We can revisit this review if it is addressed for sure.

    35 pieces of seniorita bread
    Hope L.

Came here on a Tuesday morning to grab some seniorita bread to share with my coworkers. There were only 2 people in front of me and I waited about 10 minutes to be served. It was so quick and easy; I paid $28 for 35 pieces and received them in less than 5 minutes. Just a heads up they do charge a credit card fee unless your total is more than $10! My coworkers loved them! The seniorita bread was hot, fresh, and coated with butter and sugar. Didn't have any leftovers by the end of the day!

    Kevin M.

The starbread had a good level of sweetness. It would be perfect with a cup of coffee

Ask the Community - Starbread Bakery

    Best way to reheat these?

They are best eaten fresh (gets stale after a couple days) but if you need to heat them up, I would use a microwave oven versus a microwave

Can you make call in orders for the bread? Would definitely love to bring in some to work during the midday!

    Do they have vegan options?

Just to let you know they do not put lard in the bread the señorita bread is vegan, no eggs no dairy.

Are the senorita bread gluten free?

They are not but it would be fantastic if they were.

Do they have a phone number?

    (510) 431-3616. I just called them & they picked up the phone

What time do they open daily?

    7am - 7pm daily

There were a few people in line and it did take about 10 minutes before we were able to order. During that time, some of the malasada flavors ran out, but they were quickly replenished. We grabbed an assortment of flavors, an iced oat latte, and a black sesame latte. The banana creme brulee malasada looked so good that we had to try it in the store while waiting for our drinks. The dough is so soft and pillowy with a crispy layer of bruleed sugar and a delicious banana cream that was absolutely to die for. At $6.50, it's not a cheap treat, but it was super delicious and I'm glad we tried it. The drinks were also great. The espresso shot they pulled perfectly complemented the oat milk -- this is one of the better iced oat lattes I've had. We tried the black sesame latte because it sounded interesting and it was so creamy and loaded with black sesame flavor. For anyone that doesn't drink caffeine, I highly recommend you try the black sesame latte. With such great quality malasadas and drinks, it's no wonder there was a line! We'll definitely be back!

There's no seating area inside the bakery, but there are some tables outside next to a water fountain. Of the times that I've been there, it's mostly empty and clean, and the trash bins are not overflowing. The donuts are absolutely delicious. The brioche donut is soft but holds the fillings in well. There's also a bit of crunch from the sugar on the outside of the donut. There's an ample amount of filling, so you get to taste the flavors. So far, my favorites are Irish cream, lemon blueberry, and banana cream. It is a bit messy to eat, so have napkins and a small plate to catch any sugar or filling that may fall out when you bite into it. We had their chocolate chip cookie. It looked like a big mound of baked dough. Overall, it was okay. I would easily skip this for the donuts instead. I haven't tried their coffees, but my daughter loves the hot chocolate, and I have been enjoying their calamansi juice. It's nice and tart, not too sweet. I have seen some savory options but have not tried them. I will be back to explore the menu.

I chose this shop over places like Krispy Kreme because I loved that I could buy exactly the number of donuts with any flavor I wanted instead of committing to a dozen. That's a huge plus when there are only two people, because honestly, even one donut is pretty filling. I picked five flavors: * Boston Cream * Matcha Pistachio * Blueberry Cake * Old-Fashioned Glazed * Red Velvet Cream Cheese They all looked beautiful, but the taste is what really mattered. Matcha Pistachio - 10/10. Absolutely delicious! Great matcha flavor with a nice pistachio balance. Boston Cream - 10/10. Everything I hoped for. Rich, creamy, and definitely my favorite classic. Old-Fashioned Glazed wasn't really my style, but my husband enjoyed it. Blueberry Cake was a bit disappointing to me because the blueberry flavor tasted a little artificial. Our least favorite was the Red Velvet Cream Cheese. I love red velvet cake, especially when it's paired with cherries or raspberries for some freshness, but this donut was simply too sweet and didn't have much balance. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. They have a huge variety of flavors, you can mix and match however you like, and most of the donuts we tried were excellent.
