I will never spend another dollar at this location. I went there this morning on my way to work, and one of the women working there was incredibly rude and disrespectful toward me. I waited in the long line, and when it was my turn, she completely skipped over me. After she finished helping the person she skipped me for, I politely said, "I think you skipped me." She rudely replied, "I tried to call you, and you didn't answer." That simply wasn't true. She never acknowledged me at all. Instead of apologizing for the mistake, she blamed me. She didn't even help me afterward--another employee had to come over and take my order. After I paid, I stood near the front waiting for my blended coffee and bagel. She then yelled at me, "Can you go stand somewhere else?" I was shocked by the way she spoke to me. I told her I was still waiting for my order, and she responded, "I don't care," before walking away while saying something about me. So once you've taken my money, you think it's okay to yell at me and basically tell me to leave before I've even received my order? Maple Leaf Donuts has lost a loyal customer. I've been going there for years, but after this experience, I won't be back. I'll also be telling my friends and family about how I was treated. I cannot believe a customer would be treated this way for absolutely no reason. I will not support a business that allows its employees to treat customers that way. Maple Leaf Donuts located in the Meadow Square Shopping Center is a no frills, just plain old fashion donut shop turning out old classic flavored donuts and bagel sandwiches. A nice family owned business for over 10+ years. The parking is plentiful in this plaza. Though beware of construction. I picked up a strawberry cake donut which was a moist, fluffy cake with a sweet icing, though not overtly sweet. Also, a glazed raspberry jelly donut. The donut was airy, fluffy and filled with delicious raspberry jam. It took me three bites to finally reach the pocket of jam but it was a good amount. I am glad I don't live close by, otherwise, this place would be a daily thing. They know how to make a good tasting donut. Support your local business. read more

Very cramped and noisy inside, which is maybe why they got two of my donut choices wrong, that I didn't realize till I got home. One donut I asked (3 times because she couldn't hear me) what was inside of it, and she told me and I said 'no thx' to that one; then found it was in the box when I got home. And I asked for a plain old fashioned and pointed to it; nope, not in the box at home. Also the shopping center it's in is pretty dirty & disgusting. Won't be returning. Living in Fremont nearly all my life, I've always driven past this donut shop when it was closed! I finally stopped by today b/c I was looking for a Vietnamese coffee to go with my breakfast sandwich. You can tell that this is a beloved joint because during the duration of my sandwich, many customers greeted the workers like old friends, saying they were back in the area visiting and had to come in or said things along the lines of "Long time no see!" And "if I don't see you before the end of the year, happy new year!" They have your normal run of the mill flavor of donuts and some cronuts as well. Since we were here for sandwiches, we only got a dozen donut holes. I found them to be a little harder than I like and not really too glazed, but still addicting to pop in my mouth. Along with the donut holes, we ordered two Vietnamese iced coffees and a number 2 (egg, cheese and sausage) and a number 3 (egg, cheese and bacon), both of which come on a croissant. Everything came out rather quickly despite how busy they were! The Vietnamese coffees are not too sweet nor as strong as I have had them at other shops, would have liked possibly a little more condensed milk. The sandwiches were nice and piping hot, however, were smushed flat?? possibly from being in a panini press (?). The best part of a croissant is the nice and flakey crust, but they were legit SO flat, it was kind of comical, it still tasted good though haha. Overall, I would totally return! So when I heard that Maple Leaf is the best classic donut shop in Fremont, I knew we had to try it. We got donut holes, chocolate raised, glazed raised, chocolate cake, and chocolate old fashioned. It was fine, but not to our taste - the raised donuts and donut holes were missing that yeasty flavor that we love, and the chocolate donuts had a distinct flavor that we didn't care for. My wife and I go here pretty often due to how great the sandwiches are and how well priced they are. It helps that the owners are always so kind, cordial and considerate. If I were to offer a suggestion, the best time to go is either early in the morning when they open or an hour before they close (following the after school rush). Reason being: Lunch in this plaza can sometimes be very hectic due to it coinciding with the nearby Irvington High School, and having to deal with the kids can be tiresome because they'll be loud, rude and often in a rush. read more

Great selection of Savory and Sweet and open at 5:30 am. Hardworking family, every time I go I see them hustling bringing out racks and racks of donuts and making their savory breakfast sandwiches. I also want to commend them dealing with all sorts of diverse crowds being one of the few places open at a time that overlaps the most hardcore nightowls and the most hardcore early risers. The last time I was here there were some people probably high, paying w/ money from their shoe and they were treated well. Maple didn't ruin their buzz. We got the sausage and bacon + ham breakfast croissant both of which we loved. They were neatly cut in half, ingredients inside were also very neat and it was a good way to get energy for a morning hike. Service was fast and super friendly, bagel and croissant sandwiches were fresh and piping hot, all at very affordable prices. Croissant sandwich: tried their ham egg & cheese as well as bacon egg & cheese sandwiches. They were made fresh to order, the croissants were doughy and pillow soft throughout, not overly butter. The egg was fluffy and not overly salty. Bagel sandwich: ordered the turkey on plain bagel as well as sausage egg & cheese on jalapeno bagel sandwiches. Bagel was fresh and was softer compared to other bagel shops, this I prefer over a rock hard bagel. Cheese and egg were perfectly prepped. Almond croissant: we were spoiled by Parker Lusseau and Lafayette in Monterey/Carmel, but this version is still solid for a neighborhood store. Not overly buttery or sweet, it even has a little bit of filling (almond custard?) inside. Donuts: I loved their freshness and doughy textures, but they were a little bit too sweet for me. The quality at my usual place went way down after it was sold so it forced me to find a new place. I found maple leaf donuts on yelp and the reviews were so good. I picked up 4 dozen and brought it to a kids track meet and it was devoured by the kids and parents. The shop opens at 5:30 but a large array of donuts is not out until 6ish. There are a lot of regulars who come early for the croissant sandwiches. My family loves the donuts and we drive from near the Dumbarton bridge for these donuts. read more

I've been coming to Maple Leaf for years and realized this morning that it's time to finally leave a review. Maple Leaf has been in Fremont for as long as I can remember and it's such a hidden gem. The owners are sweet, patient, and always smiling (even at at 5/6 AM). They offer baked goods (croissants & bagels), an assortment of donuts, sandwiches, and coffee. The donuts here are always good and they are reasonably priced - I believe a dozen donuts is around $14. I typically grab a couple dozen for work, and everyone loves them. They never last longer than 30 minutes in the break room! Personally, my go to is always a Vietnamese iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The Vietnamese iced coffee here is always fresh and keeps me up when I'm at work in the morning. When I come with my boyfriend, we always split the jalapeno bagel dog, which is also so freaking good! The jalapenos add a perfect kick and are super easy to grab on the go. When I visited this morning, I noticed that they just added a smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese and capers, which I will most definitely be trying next time I stop by!
