When it comes to Starbucks, there's not many complaints you can make: retail behooves poor service, poor interaction with customers, and stressed out employees. However, there are things you cannot mess around with in an establishment that serves food. If I order a drink with non-dairy milk, it's because I can't consume it, not because I want to make your life harder. So when the (I presume the manager, she was helping the other baristas) of this location responded by scoffing when I asked for soy milk in my latte, I found this a problem. From the get-go, she had a poor attitude towards customers ahead of me in line, and didn't seem too excited to take my order. When I placed my order, she didn't put in "Soy" in the order, and when I corrected her, she scoffs and rolls her eyes? After this, she asked me if I wanted anything to eat, and when I asked her for non-dairy options, she rolled her eyes again. I wouldn't be surprised if non-dairy and dairy milks were frequently swapped at this location, and I advise anyone with allergies to watch out for this manager! The other employees have never had this sort of attitude towards me. Sorry my food allergies are an inconvenience, I won't be coming back, and will choose any of the other Astoria Starbucks that treat me and other patrons better. read more

I do particularly like this Starbucks location in Queens; steps away from the Broadway elevated subway station, you'll find it walking east along Broadway. It Is a little trick to spot the entrance door: the first time I came here I thought it was a private one, of a building or something like that, since it is of glass and with iron decoration, as you can see from the pic. Actually this Kind of entrance is much more common to see in Italy. The inside is very big, with lots of tables and chairs, and the atmosphere is very relaxing: no long lines, no crowd. You can also sit in front of the cafeteria, against the wall. The products are very good, as SB standard: cinnamon roll or a very berry coffee cake with a cappuccino is a must! The neighborhood of Astoria is very nice and when I come here I like to take a walk in the streets of this fascinating old style area very close to the City. read more

Was not that busy, but waited patiently for 10mins til the barista was less occupied to tell her that my drink order was incorrect & she proceeded to tell me that I should've spoken louder even though the cashier charged me exactly for what I ordered, so clearly my volume wasn't a problem. Didn't apologize for anything, gave me attitude & grumbled while remaking my drink. I usually never have any problems with Starbucks baristas, but now I know I'm never coming back to this specific one. read more

There are a few points I'd like to make and questions too. Why are you playing Christmas music in September and October? Halloween and Thanksgiving have not yet arrived. Why do you charge extra for people who have to drink soy milk in their espresso drinks, but if I ask for soy milk on the side for my coffee I get as much as I want and for free every time? An espresso with a cup full of milk is not a cappuccino. Your extra shots I have to pay for to have my drink taste as it should is over priced. $6. for a cafe drink? Really? The clover machine. What's the point? You've wasted too much money. The clover does not compare to French press and your workers who push to sell it to me so that you can cover the ridiculous cost of the machine is just slightly annoying. The music from the speakers is way too loud. Impossible to study without soundproofing headphones on. They also have a tendency to blast the AC during specific times of the day, such as rush hour. The worst complaint however, is the volume at which they play music. Probably the loudest music from any starbucks I've ever been to. So, when I arrived at 6:03 (they're supposed to open at 6:00), the door was locked and several people were waiting outside. So I called. I was told they were running a bit behind and would open in a few minutes. When my friend arrived at 6:14 to pick me up from my supposed coffee run, they were still not open. i really, really appreciate the staff here. they definitely care about their customers, and they are passionate about coffee!! i haven't seen many starbucks do this, but they take the time out to ask their customers if they want to try their new coffee. i forgot what it was called, but they have a special machine that freshly brews that specific coffee. not only that, they also take the time out to educate their customers about it too. you may think that they have the time to do this because it's located in astoria. well, it gets pretty crowded and really busy throughout the day. i've been there for 5 hours one time. they truly do care, busy or not. keep it up!! read more

Got a seat on a not so crowded Sunday evening close to closing time on one of the comfy single seat couches up front by the window to do some short reading. Nothing has changed since my first visit, still packed with people. The rich scent of coffee often present as one walks closer to the grinding and brewing. The drawings show where the beans come, accessories to buy, cafe mixed in with a bar like atmosphere with tables jumbled together and stool seating. I normally don't diversify too much from the four drinks I order all the time from Starbucks, e.g. Frappuccino, Caramel Macchiato, Brew of the Day-Pike Place, etc... and Ice Coffee. But today on the rack, glad one can buy it by the pack and on the menu was the "Reserve" brew being labelled "Exotic, Rare & Exquisite", so I am a coffee lover and I order the Colombia Montebonito off the "Reserve" menu (comes in a tall and hot cup), for $3.50, add tax to that, being a tad under $4. Supposedly brewed in a different way and well reserved. It is a little better than the regular Pike Place blend in that it had deeper coffee flavor and tasted a bit less watered down, it also did live up to the name of having that chocolatey and floral taste, so it's not just a gimmick, for those that actually enjoy a good bean. Yes, enjoyable in aroma and robust in taste served black before any sugar or milk was added. Over all, I still like the place for the layout minus the scattered tables is a good touch, offerings as a coffee place can be with the New York Times, okay wifi and the semi-comfortable seating. But for a Starbucks, especially one near an area with decent retail traffic, I already expect the 2 out 10 chances of finding a place to sit. read more

Coffee is what you would expect at Starbucks, pretty good and pretty expensive. The seating area is nice, if you can manage to get a seat. This location is full of people who dont buy anything and occupy a sofa chair for 3 hours. One guy kept filling up his cup from home with milk and sugar from the condiments section and took out a little box of serial and added in his cup. I know Starbucks is pricey butcommonman. read more

This is a great Broadway, Astoria spot to get some work done. There's a big street view window, allowing in sunlight so you don't feel lost to the world. Yet, the Starbucks coffeehouse mix overhead is slightly upbeat but subdued enough that I can keep it in the peripheral. There's lots of seating, including a large wooden table with 8 seats, a couple of lounge chairs, several bistro tables, and two long bars with stools. The store is busy all day, but really hopping on the weekends, making it sometimes difficult to find a seat or to log into the wifi. There's always open seats on a weekday, however. I've been really liking the Refreshers that come in a can and have 90 calories. I pour it over ice! It is very refreshing, indeed. read more

This Starbucks is right next to the gym I used to go to. Nothing could be more convenient than working out, going for coffee next door and then getting on the subway. I like their seating but it's cluttered. The waiting area for your drink is nice because you can stare down the barista while leaning on the counter. It can get crowded though when multiple people are waiting. The drinks aren't worth reviewing. The staff is nice. read more

I live 2 blocks from here, but never went in (I always go to the SB on 35th). But I was on my way to the train and freezing, so I stopped for a warm gingerbread latte. Yum! I like the Starbucks, especially in winter. It has a nice warm, cozy vibe to it. Pretty good amount of seating, especially in the front. This is one of the nicest locations in the city. It has a huge space, plenty of seating and communal tables, and the best part is the front area with four large armchairs to lounge in. Those armchairs seem to be highly desirable seats, but we usually get to sit there during a visit. The large floor-to-ceiling glass storefront allows for a lot of sunlight, people-watching, and bad-parking-watching. It is nicely decorated, simple, warm, clean, and welcoming. The bathroom is typical with the same general smell and cleanliness of most other locations. The WiFi works well, but it does disconnect you from time to time. You can easily spend many hours here. The staff is friendly and helpful, although one or two are not the most knowledgeable with operating their own equipment. But they did remedy the situation once we spoke up. The coffee is good, the tea is good, and many of the snacks are good. Raspberry donut, brownie, chocolate chip cookie, and the chocolate croissant are very tasty. Only complaint is that this location does not have recycling and composting bins. Most locations do have them now, even the smaller ones. Please be more environmentally friendly. read more

Friendly staff and clean store! You have a good chance of getting a seat whether at a table or the counter. My one con is that the music is always WAY TOO LOUD!! Very hard to get work done that way. I really like this location. It's so open and bright with the nice lighting and huge front window. There's plenty of seating including bar stools, communal tables and big cushy chairs. There's a good amount of outlets (check the floor if you don't see them immediately) and although the wifi was finicky, I finally did connect. Nice place to do work or just hang out. I felt bad to keep coming in here without buying anything, and I don't drink coffee, so I ordered my first chai tea latte. The barista greeted me with a smile, spelled my name correctly and my drink was ready quickly and tasted delicious. I only have two issues with this place. There's only one bathroom so the line can get long. Also, the main seating/work area is right by the door so in times of a terrible polar vortex, it can get very chilly inside. read more
