If there was anything close to a "Central Park" experience in Cerritos, it would have to be at this Starbucks (the Central Park experience goes: If you sit at a bench in New York's Central Park long enough, you'll eventually see the entire city pass by). Though the Starbucks is your typical Starbucks (now with added couches and rugs!), it's the fact that it's right on the outside of the retail component of the Cerritos Towne Center facing the sidewalk and parking lot. The location is also, well, close to the center of the city, so you have the best chance to running to neighbors who also need a coffee run here. It's not as congested as the Los Cerritos Center, so residents prefer its relative quietness more. Out-of-towners tend to frequent the ones in higher density commercial centers more. This particular Starbucks was one of the first Starbucks coffee shops in this part of Los Angeles County back in 1994 and it's been pretty successful, as evident by its nearly 15-year run (that just amazes me). I do think that the Starbucks should add a few more seats indoors, perhaps buy the adjacent store and expand into there. I ask for 2 honey packets, they give me 3. You fancy, huh? + Effective 7/1/2012, Starbucks offers Free WI-FI nationwide with no registration, account required, or time limit. Time to have Siri tell me what to do. + The consistent taste of your drink in any location. Almost, 20,000 stores in 59 countries ain't too shabby. - For some reason this location has one of the worst bathrooms of any Starbucks I've ever been to. They even attach the key to some tangible item cause someone has either stolen it or taken the key home by accident. - It gets crowded in the evenings and mornings. Still, I assume even freeways have traffic so I guess I can't complain too much. "Get In Line" - Kesha. - Starbucks wants your money so expect prices to increase as you move further away from your Wonder Years. However, you get great tasting McCafe coffee from McDonald's at half the price so you have to wonder why a smart person like you would pay more money than you have to for coffee. - Why is the coffee re-fill policy so complicated? You have to purchase the beverage in the same store location within a 2 hour period or some crap like that. It seems like it changes every so often like Daylight Savings Time. Answer = No matter how many different ways you put it, Starbucks offers quality items at a somewhat fair price. Otherwise, you won't be buying it everyday or every so often. C'mon, it's like going out to eat. You can cook food at home yet you choose sometimes to pay ridiculous prices to eat out. Same reasoning here. Coffee is a part of our culture EVERYWHERE. Where else can you people watch and enjoy the atmosphere? Also, finding a good Starbucks is like finding a gym location that you like. AWFUL customer service at this Starbucks and I've been going for a good while now. The blonde guy with the gauges, beanie, and Pokemon tattoos has had a HORRIBLE attitude consistently, with every visit I've made to this location. The other baristas are somewhat "friendly", SOMEWHAT attentive, but this specific one (WHO APPARENTLY IS A MANAGER) literally IGNORES ME when I talk to him. Every. Single. Time. I've visited. I am not exaggerating one bit; when I say he ignores me, he literally pauses without looking at me, then continues what he's doing as if he's deaf and I'm invisible. I even held the door open for him as I was leaving the restroom, not a single word out of his mouth as he pushed past me. I'm a very respectful mannerly person, I always say please and thank you no matter who I'm talking to which is why I am absolutely amazed at the disgusting attitude this barista has given me since day ONE!!! How can you straight up IGNORE a customer???? Unbelievable. When I ask him something or give him my order, he does not even look at me, has never greeted me, and I can honestly say that he has NEVER RESPONDED to me!!!!! Today I came in for some water and was given attitude by him, after being ignored, and I had to repeat myself to make sure I wasn't crazy that he truly ignored me. This is sadly the worst Starbucks I w ever been to. I've been to many because I am a huge Starbucks drinker. And I've been to a few that made mistakes, but this one needs a lot of work on customer service. Now a few workers were cool. However there seems to be low energy from some of the employees. They look like they hate there job. One in particular is this guy with blonde hair and tattoos. He takes my order and size and I wasn't able to say light ice. Then he proceeds to get my payments but didn't ask if I wanted sweetener and milk. Granted I could have just told him the whole order, but I'm trying to wake up myself. And I've gotten use to great baristas that actually ask me if I want milk and sweetener. He looked annoyed when I mentioned I also wanted these things. So, I don't usually write reviews for chains because my expectations are typically pretty low and we all know what we're going to get when we visit a national chain. This is an instance where I make an exception: Preface: My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton hotel across the street for 14 days while I was in Cerritos for work. 1. The cold brew nitro tap has been broken since we arrived. Every day I come and see if it's still broken and everyday I am let down. After a few days it became a bit like a game to see how many days in a row Starbucks could disappoint me. 2. The mobile order machine is broken at this location so there is no way to order ahead. This has been broken for about a week or so. 3. They are constantly understaffed. The line is always to the door and yet there is one person at the register and one person making drinks. At this point there are more things wrong at this Starbucks than they have going right for them. Some of the staff is kind and nice however others are ignorant and dismissive to every one that walks throughout the the door. My wife and I visit Starbucks regularly, and other than a particular Starbucks location near Orlando Florida this is by far the worst, most pathetic, Starbucks location I've run across in a very long time. Okay...so I'm a seasoned Starbuck's gold card holder...I consider Starbuck's to be my home away from home...that being said, I will never enter this particular Starbucks location again... I couldn't tell if I walked into a high school commons area, or some college student union...almost everyone was either drinking a free cup of water, or sipping on what was left from a drink ordered a few hours earlier; some even ordered food from some of the next door eateries to dine in this establishment...there were school books strewn across the tables, but no one was studying. As for those that were serious about being a patron (like myself), one could hardly find an available seat, they simply had to take their drink somewhere else... Well, let's just say not all locations were great. They varied from coffee taste to service. I was even in Vegas during the month of January and the coffee in Vegas didn't quite cut it for me. Yes, I've been to more than 10 locations and everyone accepted the tumbler with no problems, but I will just narrow the findings to my neighborhood on the drip coffee and or service. Please note this was based on my personal experience in the month of January. In all of these stores, I have gone more than once to every store. Believe it or not , these findings are very consistent every time I have gone. Cerritos Town Center-Best Coffee, very bold and strong, but longest lines. Valley View and Ball-Quickest line, super friendly staff, watered down coffee. Valley View and La Palma-Friendly staff, burnt coffee taste. Pioneer and Del Amo-College /high school hangout, slightly watered down coffee. Pioneer and South-Crowded and very watered down coffee. Well, there you have it. Starbucks are definitely not consistent like Mikadees. But I have to say, warm coffee on cold days, does soothes the soul. Now that it's been 3 days without coffee in my system, I wonder if I will start getting the shakes? Guess I will have to update later. I come here because it is convenient for shopping. It's a decent size Starbucks and all. The people who work here are pretty nice. My only complaints are the parking can be a headache sometimes even though the parking lot is huge. Inside there are very few outlets from which to plug in phones, laptops, tablets, etc. I wish they had more because I sometimes come with the intention of working on something but have to leave because there is no where to charge my laptop- probably the biggest downside to this location. Overall, I'm pretty content with this Starbuck's. WORST STARBUCKS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!! Not only it took them 20 minutes to make my coffee while there were only 2 other customers in front of me. They gave me the wrong drink. After dinner at Woodranch, a few of us wanted to grab some coffee and Starbucks just happened to be the most conveniently located so we walked on over to grab a few drinks. There were many seats inside so we grabbed a few chairs from another table so that we could all sit together at one. The barista was nice, for it being around 10ish pm and didn't mess up any of our drink orders. There were a few people here and there passing by us, I guess some were going to the movie theater and others just wanted a drink from Starbucks. Starbucks is my number one place to go to for Coffee. I had the same experience here just as any other Starbucks Coffee shops. This place made my Ice Coffee with Half n Half milk plus Sweetener quick as any other place. The price is still the same, pretty pricey, but what can you expect from a huge franchise. I'm over this store. They can't get their act together. I order using the mobile app and they don't follow the request. Today I ordered a tall chai tea latte no foam. Cup isn't full at all and the drink is covered in foam. They don't apologize for leaving your hot sandwich out to turn cold while waiting an additional 10 minutes for two beverages. This is the third of four reviews for Starbucks... I am a little surprised at the number of negative reviews for this location. (But again...I'm not a hardcore Starbucks drinker.) Compared to the other ones I frequent, I rather like this one. Since it's inside the Cerritos Town Center, it doesn't have a drive thru, but before work (which is the only time I go), parking here is easy. The line is hardly very long, and when it is, there's always this one girl (gosh I wish I knew her name), who has a way of making the line clear fast. She's quick behind the register and quick behind the bar. If you're a regular here, she knows your drink. I have yet to receive a wrong drink at this location. This is the worst Starbucks I've been to. I was just there with my boyfriend and my father and the barista who made our drinks was extremely rude. He called out a drink and I didn't hear what kind of drink so I asked him, "What drink is this?" He said to me rudely, "Well I don't know. I'll let you know once I'm done making this drink" . Aren't you supposed to write the type of drink on the cup? Who responds that way to a customer? When my drink was called there was a hair on the lid of my cup. I come here at least three times a week ( double that with the 2 dollar drink receipt promo going on right now). This particular location is always clean and I have never had poor customer service. Pros: - They're drinks are always on point. Never have I had to ask for a re-make on one of my orders. EVER. - Service is always super friendly - Close to closing, their pastries are like 50% off. (I'm not sure if this is consistent, but it's happened to me twice.) - The music is never blaring, so it's a good spot to study. I've studied in here a max of 5 hrs unbothered, so I was content. (Of course, I ordered a drink refill to be considerate). - Even though it's not my number one order, their mochas are ALWAYS good. I hate going to Stbx and getting a mocha that just tastes like hot chocolate. They always put the right amount of espresso here. Cons: - It's always insanely crowded during Finals Weeks or after 3pm on weekdays because students fill the place like crazy. This is THE Starbucks that served me Mocha Frappuccinos since 8th grade and got me started with this whole coffee thing. 10 years later, I come back to this location and it's still consistently good. The baristas know what they're doing back there. And if your drink sucks, they are always willing to make you another one. I've recently become a huge fan of Starbucks' pastries - specifically the "low-fat" Cinnamon Swirl and Banana Chocolate Chip coffee cakes. Deliciously sinful, a slice of this coffee cake is not nearly as low-fat tasting as its name suggests. My order usually varies depending on the weather and my mood. My usual is an upside-down iced caramel macchiato. Tonight, I got a hot chocolate. It's all really good. Service is good but I usually don't come when it's packed and uber busy. My ALL TIME favorite Starbucks location. Not only are their barista's good at making drinks, but they are one of the friendliest staff I have seen, which makes the environment of the store a good one. It is located in the middle of Cerritos and surrounded by certain shopping places, which makes it convenient for shoppers to stop by for a quick fix. A very good place to study. I have to admit, it does get crowded even when school is not in session. The ambiance is like your average Starbucks location so it can look like other ones that you've been too. They have a great music selection for those who forgot their headphones or would rather listen to something else. There are limited amount of outlets accessible for those with electronic devices that need to be charged throughout your stay. Depending on the time and day that you go, parking can be somewhat difficult because of where this is located. Keep in mind, this location is located in a center with other stores. I've been to some of the busiest Starbucks in the state that were more efficient than this one. Mobile orders are clearly the priority so make sure you order anything you want via the mobile app because ordering in line guarantees a 10 plus minute wait, even if it's only for a croissant (which may be overheated considering the long wait time) and even if the line in store has completely thinned out and there's nothing but a dozen people waiting around. I will never patronize this inefficient store again unless it's for a mobile order placed well in advance. Amazing how slow one store can be with FOUR people behind the counter. read more
